Now Shinzu was in the library he simply needed to get to the scroll area now, and copy down the jutsu he wanted to learn. Deciding it would be best to sneak around the various large shelves, Shinzu snuck to the back of the library. Now he was faced with his next challenge, getting through the large open area seperating him from the jutsu section.

Batsu came into the library and gave a polite wave to the librarian as she sat reading a book. She didn't even notice him walk in, but whatever. The boy could find his way through without any help. Batsu grabbed the slip of paper out of his bag and started scanning through it. It was an assortment of questions that his instructor requested... but jeez. It meant that the boy had a lot of ground to cover and there was no telling how many books he had to go through before finding the appropriate answers. However, he had a shitload of references, so there was no excuse for slacking. The boy just waltzed over to the shelves and started reading titles of books, trying to find books that would have the answers.

Batsu would periodically refer to the questions given and would wander over to the corresponding section of the library. The boy would then look at the spines of the book and pluck out a book that he felt would suit the task best. The process continued on as he had a total of ten books. That right there let him know that he would be doing a lot of reading. It wasn't really a bad thing, but it wasn't gonna be useful in his opinion. The boy wanted to get stronger physically as opposed to mentally, but he knew that that lied just ahead. For now he had to bite the bullet and do this research... even though he REALLY didn't want to.

Batsu walked over to a nearby table to start his assignment. He put the ten books that he gathered down on the table and was about to sit down. However, he realized that there was no way for him down to take down notes. The boy didn't have any paper to write on, nor did he have something to write with. Great... just great. The boy groaned and walked towards the front desk. Luckily, the was a pen and paper just lying there. He ddidn't think Harumi would mind since she was too into the book she was reading. So the boy snatched up the pen and paper and casually walked back to his seat as if nothing happened.

Now the boy was ready to work. He went back to his seat and started his task. Batsu looked over to the piece of paper with the list of questions that Mayumi gave to him and he read the first request. It dealt with medical terminology so the boy went through his cluster of books and spotted the one he picked up that was health-related. The boy diligently scanned through the words of the pages until he found a list of prefixes and suffixes. All he had to do was dissect the illness Mayumi wrote down and he'd be done. True enough, he did just that and came up with what the root of the disease was. But just to be fancy, Batsu jotted down what was required and also wrote what some symptoms were.

Maybe this wasn't gonna be so hard. Doing research was actually pretty easy in comparison to what the boy initially thought. Hell, that was fine by him. So he went on to the next question. This one dealt more with plant life so he knew that the terminology book was no longer be of use to him. With that said, Batsu closed the book and pushed it to the side of the table. The other nine books were glanced at and he came across a book dealing with fauna. The boy repeated the process and searched through the words. The boy kept seeing general trivia about other plants, but he didn't see anything relevant to what he was looking for. It then donned on him that the plants were in alphabetical order. It made the search exponentially easier and he ended up finding what he was looking for.

Batsu was writing the gathered information down. Everything was going fine... up until ink was dying out. The boy was trying to write as much as he could down but every now and then, the boy would have to go to page with the questions and draw spirals in order to get the ink flowing again. It was a major nuisance, but he did manage to get what he needed written down. But the boy had to stop everything, get up, go to Harumi's desk, exchange pens and go back to the table. Hopefully he wouldn't have to worry about the new pen going through a similar issue... especially if he got on a roll like he did before.

Batsu thought it best to make sure the pen worked before he sat down. He went back to the paper Mayumi gave him and he wrote his name on the top of the page. It, in fact, worked. It was a different shade of black in comparison to what he wrote earlier. But at this point the boy didn't care. He just went back to doing his research and recording his findings. Everything was back on track, but the boy noticed that his wrist was starting to bother him kinda bad. He was developing a cramp but kept writing until he finished writing the answer to the question. By the time he finished, though, the pain intensified.

The cramp was no joke. It bothered him so bad that he had to drop his pen and rotate his wrist repeatedly. The boy wanted to groan in pain but knew he was in the library. Harumi was reading her book, but it didn't mean that she wasn't deaf. The last thing he wanted was to be ejected from the library while mid-training. So Batsu didn't really have a choice but to suck it up and deal with his writer's cramp. He just hoped that it would stop soon so he could get back to researching.

No luck. Batsu's wrist was still hurting. Granted, it wasn't as bad as the pain was before. However, Batsu still wanted to wait until his troublesome wrist was okay before he went back to writing. So the boy just sat around until he looked down at the assignment list. He was over the halfway mark and thought it best to start flipping through books The next question dealt with tree frogs and their poison. Batsu immediately looked through the remaining unused books and spotted a book on amphibians. Hopefully he'd find what he needed here. But on a lighter note, Batsu's wrist was feeling a hell of a lot better.

His writing arm wasn't at 100%, but is was good enough to get the job dine. Batsu picked the book up and started flipping though pages. Eventually the boy went to the section dealing with frogs and started to slow his flipping down. But when he went to the pages about tree frogs specifically, the flipping came to a halt. Batsu started writing down what he felt was important to know and closed the book. Batsu's research notes were getting pretty full on one side so he had to start using the other side of the page to continue.

Harumi looked up from the book she was reading and was eyeing Masaraku, what did she mean it wasn't there? Every book and scroll in this library went by her before it left, of course it had to be there! Standing up she deliberately walked towards the Jutsu scrolls, not even looking at Masaraku the whole time. Lo and behold the scrolll actually wasn't there... Harumi frowned at this, ok so tha sharkgirl was telling the truth, then she got an idea. "Masaraku could you track down this scroll for me?" She asked sounding particurly kind for once, she really wanted that scroll back, lest the council found out.

Masaraku continued to browse through the scrolls, placing them onto the cart. This job was horridly boring. I mean, seriously, sorting books for a scroll that had obviously been stolen. She tried to imagine who could have been the culprit. She put it away, but noticed a footprint in the dust.

Masa analyzed the footprint. It appeared to be that of a young man. Not fully grown, and not delicate looking enough for a woman. She returned to sorting scrolls as she pondered the footprint. "Takigakure Journal of Internal Medicine. Tales of a Kiri Town Junk Vendor. Duck and Cover! An Acrobatics book." Seriously, weird scrolls in this pile.

The Lost Scroll!!! (Mission)
Harumi seems to have lost track one one of the scrolls, granted it is a big library. Though she doesn't doubt that it could be lost amongst the piles of scrolls, there's the possibility of it having been stolen. Which were you come into the picture, she wants you to look through the piles of scrolls, and if it's not there, to find the person that took it and get it back.
