Oh, no. There was something there.
Aysel put her other hand on Ubel's shoulder with the first, burying her face against him. "It's going to get us..." she whimpered, trembling. "Oh, Ube, it's going to eat our souls..."

Dariyn did not make a sound, lips parting and face gone nearly white...quite a feat for him. Dear gods...what WAS that thing? It seemed monstrous...was that what had killed Padmir? Or something like it anyway...Dariyn thought his heart seemed ready to beat out of his chest.

When Elanin screamed Nadyrr's grip on her hand became him pulling her to him protectively and pushing her back standing between her and the thing in the mist. Nadyrr had not idea what he would do, he just hoped...that whatever it is he would survive it in the end.

Elanin finally got a hold of herself and catching her breath, dared to look out from behind Nadyrr, she was pale with fright, and shaking, something she felt she had to get over. She bit hard on her lower lip, trying hard to steady her knees, she knew she already apeared like a coward to everyone, but at least she could try to save SOME face.
But MAN she was scared, it was Nadyrr that was keeping her from running back the way they'd come.

Torrid's sickeneing horror at the story left his nerves already quite ragged when the thing loomed out of the mist. He was terrified, but acted without the distraction of his thoughts, puting himself between his friendsand the terrifying sight before them. His whole body shoock, but he stood fast, hands balled into fists.

Kallisto, froze as the thing stepped out the mist. Trembling, she looked to Lelaus hoping he'd do something. Afterall, weren't the profressors here to protect them?
Instinctively, she clutched the vial of sunspots she had received not too long ago. Would a bright flash scare the creature away? Whimpering, she closed her eyes a moment. Goosebumps raced up and down her arms as people around ehr screamed. Biting her lips, she tried not to add her own cries to theirs.

Lelaus "Students....don't make any sudden moves...it's the one, the only, the terrible....ABRID MONSTER!! AAAAAAAAAGH!!" And with that, Lelaus went barreling down the alleyway towards the maw of the beast. The monster, for its part let out a horrible roar of rage and hunger and lowered its maw to bite into their flailing professor. When the two connected, there was a thump and a poof of sparks and a laugh and then there was nothing but Lelaus and Abrid wrestling on the ground. After a moment, the two disentangled themselves and stood. Lelaus brushed the rubble off his pants and grinned up at his fellow teacher. Abrid for his part was rubbing the sparks of static out of his mane and shaking off the last of the Illusion. He grumbled at Lelaus.
Abrid "I say though... You didn't need to punch me like that. We had choreographed it, all you needed to do was leap at me. Can't you stick to even that simple plan?" But Lelaus only laughed and scoffed and waggled a finger at Abrid.
Lelaus "Come on, Abrid, don't be such a stick in the mud. What do you think, did you enjoy it?" Lelaus had turned to his terrified students and with a grin was asking them if they had enjoyed themselves.
While there were a few last minute preparations to be made before they turned back, the spell of terror and nervosity that had been created was broken. The fieldtrip had served its purpose, moral and all.

Nadyrr raises a brow and glances around for something, anything that could be used to protect them in this instance. Gulping down any uncertainty he moved forward, eyes still out for something anything that he could use.
Seeing the change of events Nadyrr let out a laugh full and echoing, he had enjoyed himself. It was very interesting and amusing.

Dariyn was trembling, not sure what to think...ah...it had only been a trick...but...that wasn't very -nice- was it? He wasn't pleased...not at all...but too relieved that they weren't going to be eaten to care much about it. "I don't think I like field trips..." He murmured.

Grave felt like he was going to vomit. Even when he saw that danger had been naught but an Illusion, he still felt trembly and weak and so very very nauseous. Silently damning Lelaus, and even Abrid for his role in the prank, Grave slumped down to sit in the cold mist of the flagstones and kicked violently at a limp clump of grass. He gave a deep breath and tried to get his nerves to settle down.

What could Elanin do? Part of her wanted to swear and shout, but she couldn't help it, and she started to laugh off her fear. But she had learned her lesson, she would never leave the city until it was time, and even then... She moved out from behind Nadyrr and still laughing, smiled at him between it. She couldn't help it now, she felt so much better now.
Now she was calm, and her laughter subsided, and letting out a slow breath of Air, she took Nadyrr's hand and squeezed it again before letting it go. "Thanks, I owe you one,"

Kallisto gasped as Lelaus tackled the monster and it... poofed into Abrid. Tense, only when they asked if the students had enjoyed the trip did Kallisto realize she'd been holding her breath and let it out noisly. Her grip had gone white-knuckled and she carefully let go of the vial she held in her pocket, relief flooding her system. She couldn't help but giggle as the image of the two professors colliding replayed itself in her mind. Still, it was nervous giggle as she continued to scan the area.

Nadyrr continued to laugh for several moments and then nodded to Elanin, he had a wonderful time. Sadly part of him still wished there had been a real monster. "This was great, I loved it." Being able to see the city past the white district was well worth it in his opinion.
