Belmont grimaced, not at all appreciating all of this. He supposed the other Page was right--at least their magic was doing something. He wanted to be like the others--he wanted to have magic. Wanted to have a real weapon. Wanted to have the ability to do more than throw rocks and hope they made any sort of impact.

“I guess,” he agreed, but really did not like how the creature was moving. It seemed like it could have caused a hell of a lot of damage, and he was worried he was spending more time just trying to avoid taking damage than he was actually doing any.

Tonight seemed completely different from earlier today, and he couldn’t believe that just an hour ago he was out, exchanging one of the keychains he’d gotten from the city for a bag full of his cousin’s leftover bakery goods.

“You’ve got a good arm, so, uh. Keep up the good work then,” he exhaled, and picked up another rock to chuck at the monster.

The monster’s skin was more than just cracking, now; it was bubbling. Every new attack, magical or otherwise, seemed to wind up with a small little explosion rippling across its skin. The greater the damage, the larger the eruption. Even a tiny rock was enough to rupture the skin, and energy exploded nearly a foot out from the beast.

The acidic ‘blood’ energy was as volatile as ever, but it seemed to evaporate into a wispy mist faster than ever.

The crackling at the creature's mouth seemed wild and furious, and just before it could open its mouth and fire whatever horrible beam of energy it had prepared, its leg splintered and an explosion of light blinded everyone nearby. The heat was uncomfortable, but the only real threat was the liquid energy that shot out from it.

Off balance, the monster stumbled and fell to the ground. The collision sent another quake rumbling underground, but the fumble gave the group an advantage--it hadn’t opened its mouth. Instead, the energy seemed to be trapped. It flailed again, and small, acute lasers erupted between its teeth in infrequent and unpredictable bursts. It clawed at the ground and wriggled desperately, but something was obviously wrong with it.

It was losing--badly.

Ara was on her last leg, but thankfully so was the monster. It seemed like it was about to erupt from the continued onslaught both magical and physical. Ara Struggle to her feet. "Come on Char, it's nearly gone." Her arm felt like a lead weight as she raised her arm and forced her magic to the surface once more.

After the blast Ara grabbed her chest breathing very heavily. She was seeing spots in her vision she was sure how much longer she could go. Then it happened. The monsters leg exploded and it fell to the ground with a great thud and a tidal wave of that burning liquid came surging forth. Ara got hit with and went down from the pain. She wasn't sure what had happened to Charybdis. She was barely conscious as pain seared through her body and exhaustion laid over her like a lead blanket.

The onslaught of attacks seemed to be effective.

Unfortunately, the more damage everyone was doing to the creature, the more dangerous it was to remain so close to it. Many of those who fought in close range cried out in pain when the acidic ‘blood’ energy touched their skin.

Lavendulan retreated back several feet and in place of her whip was a watery orb the size of a medicine ball. The way she moved was not unlike a rhythmic gymnast dancing across the floor. And just as the attack connected with the youma’s back leg, the creature stumbled and fell to the ground. It had already sustained enough damage from everyone attacking it that she could hardly take credit for delivering the blow that caused it to fall.

Coincidence, perhaps.

But the fact remained that it was now down and hopefully close to death.

She had expected the monster to try and get up again, however, it seemed that their combined efforts had interrupted its magical attack and instead of rising to its feet, multiple lasers erupted between its teeth. All that Laven could do to keep from being blinded was turn her head away and shield her eyes.

No, Anser did not know how to stay out of trouble.

If anything, she was a bit of a magnet for it.

She felt eyes on her and glanced to the side to see -- oh, not that guy. What the hell was he doing here? Maybe she could feed him to the monster as she thought might have been a good idea to do with the other people of Chaos that were there--

Anser had been drawing back, but combined with the wisp Godzilla's failure to actually launch its mouth laser, spotting an old nemesis a recent negative encounter was enough to make her see red and draw her right back into the fray.

"You here as monster bait?!" shouted Anser, at him, as she swung all that rage right at one of the monster's flailing limbs.

None of this was exactly fun, but Mycenae was glad to have someone else to fight alongside. Beira was, at the least, a thoroughly reliable ally so far, not putting himself at unnecessary risk and not making any foolish moves.

He also liked that Beira was willing to ask the smart questions. There was so much wrong here, and Mycenae liked none of it.

Unfortunately, there was danger at hand--the monster seemed to be tearing apart at the seams, and that meant that in its crumbling, it was becoming quite a bit more dangerous.

"Watch out!" He called, but he wasn't quick enough to get far out of the way himself--his eyes were briefly seared by the light, and he felt heat on the exposed part of his face, and when the creature crashed to the ground,th e quake sent him off balance and he hit his knees.

There was a moment when he had to catch his breath, and he pushed himself to his feet. Blinking spots out of his vision, he frowned grimly, and moved next tot he flailing monster, risking its wild swings to drive his shillelagh into one of the cracks in its skin.

"Do you have magic that does damage? I'm lacking in that department, alas."
