Quote: Tethys has been talking about "daily rituals" from various cultures with the students. What is one of your student's daily rituals? Do they recognize that it's a ritual? If they don't think they have any daily rituals, have them explain why. Write a 100 word minimum response from the perspective of your student answering Tethys' question
Prompt Response: Sugar Maple figured she had a lot of daily rituals, she stood up and wrote down. "Every night I have cookies and milk before bed that the caretakers give me, it's my little daily ritual that helps me calm down before bed time, so I don't have any nightmares. I missed cookies and milk time one night and had a really scary dream about big dark monsters trying to eat me, so I don't like changing my ritual." Sugar Maple wrote, she sighed softly she hoped that answer was ok, she didn't want to fail the class, she didn't want to fail any class.

Prompt Response: For Illusion his daily ritual was practicing his slight of hand tricks, since Illusion couldn't do real magic yet, though he wasn't sure if he wanted to do that kind of magic anyway. So he wrote down. "My daily ritual is practicing my slight of hand magic, it's not big kid magic, but I like my card tricks and making flowers I've hidden appear, because it makes my mommies smile. So I practice every afternoon and every night before bed time." He smiled brightly confident that he would be fine and pass this class it was fun to think of his magic as a daily ritual.

Quote: With new races appearing at what appears to be on a somewhat regular basis, the topic of cultural assimilation has been a popular one. Should new races assimilate to match the rest of the world if their beliefs are drastically different? Is it possible to have people exist in harmony even with clashing belief systems? Your student is encouraged to use examples in their response. Prompt Response:
Quote: I was one of the first chimera at Asphodel. It was tough, even though I was so small that I barely knew the culture I was leaving behind, but in the end, I'm glad I don't look to the Rani for guidance or worry too much about our ideals. I like being a part of the mishmash here. I like having a shared history with my peers that doesn't revolve around my wings and tail or the shape of my ears. Now, I'm not saying that some Nightmares shouldn't know about that stuff. I love learning about how the other races used to be and going to cultural festivals sometimes, it's just not my life's mission to know about the past. Being stubborn about gods and traditions will invariably lead to conflict, and though I am always up for a fight to retain the right to believe what I believe, I'd much rather be expanding my mind than my muscles. That being said, there is plenty of Below to go around. If people want to remain rigid and coexist, they are welcome to stay where they are.

Prompt Response:
Kayla Sue knows her daily rituals like the back of her hand. Taking a deep breath she begins the run down, “I wake up and brushed my teeth and my hair. Then I run outside to weed the garden for a while…” taking another big breath she continues on "Then I go a crossed the way to Nana’s house to talk with her for a while before school. She always sent me home in time to get ready for school." Smiling at herself she asks "Did you want me to tell you my wwhhoollee daily ritual or just the morning one?" She didn't want to be a charter box and so far she hadn't told anyone anything that was about her race so she thought I was safe so far. This thought takes the smile form her face. But hadn't said anything tp she betray her race either. It wasn't like a goblin to talk about their race with others. Kayal Sue sat down at that point and didn't feel like she should share any more. Thank goodness the teacher moved on to the next student in the class.

Prompt Response: Estrella was off in her own world, she didn't hear the teacher call her name and it wasn't until another freshling seated next to her pulled on her sleeve that she realized it was her turn. Standing up she looked around at all the faces staring back at her. She was drawing a blank she didn't even know the question really. When the others started to snicker it all came back to her. "Uh... every day I get up. I go to class, I zone out and get lost and the kids make fun of me..." She paused realizing what she had just said. "Then I go to lunch and no one wants to sit by me, they all think I'm pretty weird." She really needed to get a filter. "Then I go back to my dorm and study my star charts, I like to draw the constellations on my arms and legs.. but I only do that where others can't see me now." She looked around the room. "But yeah that's what I do every day.." she then sat down and began looking out the window again already in her own world.

Prompt Response: Oh, Arceus has plenty in the way of daily rituals. He was the master of them. Every morning he woke up at 5am, long before classes were due to start and would start practicing his gymnastics. He would do his morning stretches and make sure he had a good meal, and get straight to work. He'd finish his school day off and then head over to Pann's to share an late afternoon snack, then off he went to read up on the different muscles in one's body and how to master them. Then the next morning he would apply what he learned and try to strengthen his own body.
Arceus wrote all of this down, humming to himself happily. At least this had been an easy project ...

Prompt Response: Pann was much like Arceus. She found the assignment rather easy, her pencil writing furiously against the page. She wrote all about her daily rituals. How she began with practicing her transitions in the morning, how even at her desk she practiced the flick of her wrists sans fans, and in the evenings how she shared a meal with her best friend before heading outside and gearing up, fans in hand to dance the night away. It always felt so whimsical to Pann, like some sort of a fairytale.
Pann sighed wistfully, craving to run off with her fans now and just skip class. It would be easy to do, but Pann needed to do well in school to secure herself a scholarship to Grendel ... so skipping class wasn't really an option.

Prompt Response: "Brushing your teeth is a ritual, isn't it?" Caela scribbled her response on the paper. "Lots of people talk about like it is. You have to do it a certain way for a certain period of time or your teeth will get nasty. Except that's just science, not magic or superstition." She felt proud of herself for using such a big word and then kept writing. "When people take showers, some people wash certain parts first. I shine my tail star first, and that's kind of like a ritual, because sometimes I think keeping my star clean will make me lucky. My mom would say 'it's the little things,' and keeping my star clean is one of them." Okay, so she waited a bit to address her personal ritual, but that should answer the question, right?

If they don't think they have any daily rituals, have them explain why. Write a 100 word minimum response from the perspective of your student answering Tethys' question
Prompt Response:
What was a ritual? A series of actions performed in a series of ways that had meaning. So could anything he do be considered a... no that was silly. He had several rituals. " I have several rituals in my life. The most important one though is the ones that happen in the morning. When I stay with my mother then the three of us always get up and have breakfast together, we talk about what happened the previous day or what we want to happen today. It's a ritual to keep us close and to talk about little things, if mother has a lot of classes that week and we are staying at the school then every morning mother calls us and we do the same thing. If we miss breakfast or the phone call for some reason or another then the day just starts out at a lower point." Solomon stated. It was silly, but then to him the ritual wa important.

If they don't think they have any daily rituals, have them explain why. Write a 100 word minimum response from the perspective of your student answering Tethys' question
Prompt Response: "Well everyone including me has a lot of rituals, however there is an important my family and I like to do everyday. There are thirteen of us in the house, and with thirteen people with various schedules it's hard to spend time together. However dad always makes a meal for us and he typically makes dinner, while classes and activities don't mean that we are there for everyone. Who ever is the house always sits around at the table and talks about their day and the fun things we did that day or what ever troubles us. It brings us all closer because we spend the time together. It's often hectic but loving." Viaresu answered trying to bring down a blush, thinking of dinner in his family as an important ritual was sappy but viaresu thought it important.

Your student is encouraged to use examples in their response. Write a 100 word minimum response from the perspective of your student answering Tethys' questions
Prompt Response:
It is true that new races show up constantly. However no culture should have to radically change their beliefs to fit another under most circumstance, I believe that unless nightmare or daydream life is in danger such as the culture practicing person sacrifice. However even then I think we should work with them. Find out why such a thing is important to their society and maybe see if they want to join our society about finding a way to still honor that need for such a ritual with out the life cost. I believe clashing view points can work in harmony but not if people don't talk with each other, not if they don't try to see why that viewpoint exists and why it is important to the Culture Seraph paused in his writing there, was it naive? Most likely but that was what made cultures and races fascinating was their differences. What they could bring to further the human condition? He thought of his friends, all from different species but each one bringing something in for the group.

Prompt Response: Coco thought about the question and said "I don't think other races need to change their ways, I can easily believe that the nine look one way in my head and not be bothered that the nagas believe that the nine are nagas, it doesn't upset me and I feel that it allows other races to be comfortable living here in the below and studying and learning." She thought a moment trying to think of other examples "Relationship courting rituals differ greatly from race to race and sometimes misunderstandings happen because of this but the world would be really dull if there was only one way on doing things like saying art should only be done in grey."

Prompt Response: Caron considered the question very personal since he was a race that came to the below from the Above. "I think being open to change is important but being forced would have been unacceptable. I am a fey who was awoken in the above and dance to show my affection to the one I'm counting is very important to me, just as flowers have special meanings to the dryads. In my case I have adapted in a sense because I intend to integrate imp courting into my proprosal to my sweetheart soon." He said warmly, Caron would have been so angry if he had arrived in the below and been told he had to give up his people's traditions.

Prompt Response: Eun was very firm on what he wanted his own race to give up and move past. "I'm a kumiho and my people tend to believe that mutants are a worthless, disgraceful group of beings, as a hallowed myself it is someone I feel strongly about that others should learn more about hallowed beings that we are no more or less than any other beings." Eun wondered if there were any kumiho in his class that would think him crazy for speaking his mind. He said his peace and sat down he couldn't think of anything else to say. He liked the school though for being more accepting than his people.

Prompt Response: Tolaram frowned he could think of anything he thought others should change, he agreed with the kumiho though, others holding on to bad things was bad, but he didn't want to say that. "No I don't believe other races should have to change for anyone, my race should keep it's courting rituals even though it bothers others, everyone has the right to follow their own ways." Tolaram wasn't bothered by any races religious beliefs, he wasn't bothered by anyone else's courting rituals. "As long as it isn't hurting anyone else others should be able to keep their traditions," Tolaram said simply.
