Meeting in person sounded like something that was possible. Maybe after Cheria collected the shards from Unova, she'd run into Sarah in Sinnoh. Skye was more eager for her gym battle than she herself was. That was odd. Well, at least she knew Skye would be there to cheer her on if that was the case. Once her castor beeped again, Cheria grabbed it to tell Marx she was going to battle Cilan soon, so she'd text or call later, but Skye swipped it fore she could. "H-Hey!" She pouted a bit when Skye safely tuckethe device in his bag. He played dirty. That wasn't very nice. "Fine....Alright, Ariel, Lupup. Let's get going." He'd better give it back when the battle was over. Walking into the gym, holding Ariel close for comfort, Cheria looked around the cafe. There they were. The waiters that doubled as triplet gym leaders. "E-Excuse me? I'm...a trainer here to challenge the Striaton City Gym." Thankfully, she wasn't just mumbling. She managed to get her words out there instead of relying on her Pokémon.

The three gym leaders stopped in their conversation as Cheria approached and announced herself, all giving friendly, welcoming smiles. "Welcome!" Cress greeted. Cilan stepped forward, though, one arm behind his back as he gestured to Ariel with his other. "It looks like you have a water starter! In that case, I'll be your opponent," he declared, grabbing his first pokeball, "Is Unova your original starting region?" She did have an Oshawott, after all. But he didn't recognize the other pokemon with her. He released his Lillipup, who bounded forward, ready for battle.

Cheria shook her head to Cilan's question on her region. "No, I'm a Kalos trainer. But, my starter is Frogadier, a Water-type. So, I suppose that still makes you my opponent." Cilan released a Lillipup and Cheria smiled a bit. It was so cute! Maybe she'd catch one so Lupup had a puppy friend to play with. "Davis!" Cheria tossed Davis' ball up and the Mienfoo popped out, landing on the battlefield and ready to battle. "Let's start off with Fake Out!" Davis nodded and ran up on Lillipup, striking him with his palm, before returning to his place in front of Cheria. It wasn't the strongest move in the world, but it did have one handy side effect.

Cilan smiled in understanding as Cheria explained that she was a Kalos trainer, though she did still pick a water type to start. "Ah, well that explains it. I'm not very familiar with all of the Kalos pokemon yet, and you have a pokemon there next to you that I've never seen before! Is it native to Kalos? Such a lovely green color to it too, I'm already a fan." He smiled. The battle began however, and he needed to focus, because oh my, what speed! Then again Cilan shouldn't have been so surprised. Fake out was a nifty little technique, but it wouldn't work again unless Cheria switched Davis out, so even though lilipup had flinched in surprise, Cilan was sure he could rely on the little puppy's speed to attack now. "Alright Lilipup, don't fall for that trick again, use Bite!" Cilan insisted calmly, sending the lillipup forward to attempt an attack.

Huh? Did he mean Lupup? "Ah, well....To be honest, I don't really know what he is. I've...never seen or heard of Lupup until I met this one." Green? Huh....Cheria always figured him to be a teal. Wait. Was teal a shad of green or blue? Lillipup suddenly attacked with Bite, and unfortunately, karma was active today. Davis ended up flinching, which made him lose focus on the battle for a moment. "Ah! A-Are you alright, Davis?""Foo!" Well, he wasn't hurt too badly. Oh, that's right. Mienfoo had semi-immunity to Dark moves. That was great news for them.

Cilan arched a brow curiously as Cheria didn't seem to really know much about the pokemon–apperently called a lupup–either. If she was a Kalos trainer he figured she would know at least whether it was Kalos specific. Too bad, he really liked the look of it. He preferred grass green colored pokemon himself, but he had a weakness for the seafoam green that this pokemon appeared to be, a color that was said to be very naturally soothing. Just being in the presence of the lupup made him feel more relaxed than usual, which was actually saying something if he was perfectly honest with himself. "Hm~ how interesting. I'll have to keep my eyes and ears out then." He mused, then commanded his lillipup to attack. He couldn't help but brighten a bit with pride when the bite not only landed, but also Cheria's meinfoo to flinch. Now they were one for one, so he didn't feel at such a disadvantage. "Nice going lilipup, keep it up!" Cilan encouraged his pup with a gentle smile.

Bite again. This time, however, Davis shook it off. Looked like he didn't flinch again, which was great. "Use Pound!" Davis nodded and ran up to Lillipup, promptly hitting him with the attack. It wasn't a very strong move, but it would do. Really, Cheria wasn't sure she should be here right now, so she wasn't really putting in all her effort. She'd rather still be training. But, she did feel her Pokémon should be able to handle Lillipup and Pansage as they were. So long as there wasn't a constant stream of flinching.

Cilan wasn't surprised that the meinfoo didn't flinch again. Generally once you used a trick, it didn't work again. Unfortunately though he didn't really have a choice to change it up, seeing as bite was lillipup's only attack. He could switch pokemon, but there wasn't much reason to do that now. Too bad, he lived to serve, but there wasn't much entertainment that he could provide here. "Keep trying lillipup, you can do it!" He encouraged. Again the lillipup bit down on the fighting type, slowly but surely wearing down Davis' health. The meinfoo still didn't flinch, as to be expected, but Cilan's main goal here was to do damage, not inflict flinches.

Other than having not flinched, Davis wasn't doing very well. He wasn't ready for this fight. But, she couldn't forfeit. "Lupup, get ready. After this next attack, I want you to take Davis' place, okay?""Pup!""Alright, Davis! Go ahead and use Pound one more time!" Davis obeyed Cheria's command, striking Lillipup once more before returning to his place. Cheria grabbed his ball to to return him, but Lupup beat her to it. The sea green puppy jumped onto his head and then jumped off, making Mienfoo stumble back off the field. "Er....I guess that's...one way to do it...." Did he have to be so rough? Poor Davis had no idea what happened. "You'll be okay, Davis. Get some rest. Thanks for your help." She patted Mienfoo's head before returning him to his ball. "Sorry about that little performance. We're ready now."

Cilan nodded lightly in approval as Cheria swapped pokemon after allowing Davis to land another hit. The meinfoo was looking rather worse for the wear, there was no sense in keeping him in longer. Though, before she could recall him to his pokeball, the lupup jumped into acton, quite literally; it had lept onto Davis' head and then onto the battlefield before the meinfoo knew what hit him. Cilan chuckled at the comedic display, Cheria's commentary making it even more amusing. "Oh no, there's no need to apologize." He insisted with a warm smile. "It was quite amusing really, but yes, let us continue." He nodded in agreement, turning to his lillipup. "Okay lillipup, you know what to do." Cilan suggested with a smile. He had no idea what type of pokemon Cheria's lupup was, but again, lillipup only had one attack, so even if he did, it wasn't like he had any other options as far as his attacks went.

Cheria was relieved Lupup's swap hadn't upset Cilan. Lillipup's Bite didn't seem to do much to Lupup. So, he had Dark-type immunity? That was handy to know. "Go ahead and use Bite, Lupup. That should bring out his second Pokémon." Bite for a Bite. That was a bit of a metaphorical end to Lillipup's match.
