Batsu kept on wading through the swamp absent-mindedly as she waited for a response. As the boy kept paddling, he eventually found himself at the other side of the swamp. The boy looked back towards the water and towards his other teammates. "Hey slowpokes, hurry up. I don't wanna stay here all year waiting on your slow asses to get here." Batsu ended up amusing himself and started to chuckle a little bit. Besides, it wasn't often that he had the chance to gloat. Quote:

Masa looked at Tenshi as she pulled her oar out of the water and pointed at the shore where there was a lamp. "Yo kid, quit being lazy and pull your weight already, we're way off course. Turn Turn Turn!" As she said that she saw a tree coming up behind her and pushed off of it with her oar. "Your gonna get us both killed."

She gave another strong stroke to push them away from the tree. and said, "We can hit the other side of the shore, its one big U-Turn though. I'm gonna need you to do your part Tenshi. I'll get us a little closer, then I'm just gonna sit back and steer us in. Kay?" She looked at him for signs of understanding."

Tenshi nodded his head in agreement and gave a salute, "Aye, aye Captain," and did just what she asked. He placed the oar in the water and pushed the water behind them. If he remembered correctly she was the one having issues beforehand. He could smack her with the oar, but where that get either of them. He simply smiled as he the boat began moving with his help. He wanted to get out of this god-forsaken swamp. It gave him the creeps and he was done rowing the canoe. He wasn't too thrilled of the ghosts, but it would be better than what they were doing now. Anything to get out of the water and onto the safety of land before those things would get the jump on 'em. He thought he saw shadows moving, but dismissed it for his imagination. When looking for those type of things everything you see is a work of them...

She held the oar fastened tightly in her grip as her eyes locked onto the land mass that they were aiming for. They would be there in no time at all. As long as Tenshi didn't lose the rest of his oar.

Tenshi nodded his head and placed the oar in the water. It was all up to him now. They were three-fourths of the way there and he was finishing it up. With her help they would get there, but he would do the work. He pushed the oar as it got stuck in the mud. For crying out loud! Really!? At a time like this? He knew that the small push he did give wouldn't be enough to really get them anywhere. He sighed as his oar eventually got free. "Sorry Masaraku-sama," he said a little embarrassed at his performance. He was trying to concentrate on the oar and nothing more, oblivious to the fact of everything else going on around him. He stick his tongue out between his lips as if it would help his concentration.

Tenshi placd the oar into the water and gave it the hardest push he could muster. Of course, having little to no muscle it wasn't a lot of power, put enough to get them moving at a faster rate than they were going. He wanted to get to the other side fast. Even though he dreaded it, he was eager to see the ghosts. Plus Masaraku seemed rather positive that she could easily handle whatever the ghosts threw at them, so he felt a little safe. Hopefully he wouldn't let her down by getting there any slower.

Tenshi, with new fond power placed the oar in the murky water and pushed with all his might, but the oar wouldn't go anywhere. Stuck in the mud again! How much can be in a swamp? Rhetorical question... don't answer that... He pulled and pullsed at the oar till it came out along with mud on his clothes. "When I get home I'm going to have a fire and burn these clothes..." He wouldn't even bother trying to clean them, and how would he explain to his mother that he needed a new happi? It was a good thing he didn't wear his kimono... his mom would flip!

He put the oar in the water and pushed once again, but the oar got sucked into another mud bar. He could hear the flurp it made as the air escaped and was replaced by the sticky mud. He glared at nothing in particular and pulled it out getting more mud and water on his clothes. He wasn't going to bother getting upset over it. It was already a mess and he would be surprised if he didn't get more on it later in the night. He sighed and rid the oar of mud by tapping it against the canoe. No doubt Masa was wondering what was taking him so long to get them to shore.

Tenshi put the oar in and pushed again. A sweat drop found its way to his chin and fell into the canoe. He was happy it didn't get stuck, but didn't want to get his hopes up. He had tried several times and it seemed to get stuck more times than it did actually do anything. At the rate they were going he may as well get in the water behind the boat, kick his feet and propel it himself, but maybe this success was enough to create a streak of successes. They were almost there, but it could take a while...

The oar was actually doing what it was supposed to be doing. Maybe the mud bars were finally gone. Maybe some higher power saw all the mud, urine, and murky water over his nice white happi and took pity on him? Who cared, as long as they were close to getting out of this mess. The shore was almost upon them. He was getting frustrated that it was taking them so long, but he used that power to push them harder and faster. Anything to get to land.

They were almost there he knew it and then he heard the flurp, followed by the canoe getting caught in the mud bar. His eyes became narrow as he looked at the stuck oar. Are you done laughing? he thought to whatever higher power it was that decided to take enjoyment in Tenshi's suffering. He pulled the oar out and began pushing the canoe off the mud bar. It was a pain to get off but he finally did. Geeze how much does that woman weigh? I'm practically nothing so the weight is between her and the canoe! He shook his head and concentrated at the ever-so-close shore.

Of course as soon as he got it off the one mud bar it got caught in another. He had enough of this water and wished he could just walk across the remaining distance, but work was work. The work would make him appreciate the reward that much more. He could hear his own father telling him that. He knew it to be true, but oh did he wish he could.... He had to pull all their weight once again to get them off the mud bar. Trouble always comes in threes...
