Eirwyn I remember seeing somewhere that Jack was going to look for the Doctor because he needs his help finding something.... I wondered if he would get the Doctor to help him find his lost two years that he can't remember, then when he has sorted that out, he'll be ready to take off in Torchwood? I read that, too. Begin:Although a friend and I were batting around the theory that Torchwood might actually be some of the missing period of Jack's life - time travel not being linear and all that.End

I always grew up hearing about the Doc because my mom is a huge sci-fi geek. mrgreen I caught a few episodes when I was rather small but am afraid I didn't appreciate it then.
I got to see the fox movie with Paul McGann as the Doctor. I rather liked it but apparently it didn't do well enough to start a new show. I'm gonna have to catch up on the old and the new show. My palette is a bit more refined these days. mrgreen

Series 2 premieres in US on Sci-Fi at 8 p.m. (Eastern) September 29 with 1-1/2 hr "Christmas Invasion" introducing Doctor #10 (David Tennant), followed by 1 hr "New Earth".
Earlier that day, they are doing a mini-marathon of half of Series 1 starting at 8 a.m. through 4 p.m. This features Doctor #9 (Chris Eccleston) and last of these eps (series finale) shows the Doctor's regeneration.
Can go to Sci-Fi scheduling and pull up scheduling list of the day.
Series 3 premieres in UK on Christmas with "Runaway Bride."
Enjoy!

I'm a big Who fan, but not untill recently. I got draged kicking and screaming in to watching the first few episodes by my girlfriend (bless her), and been hooked ever since! blaugh David Tennant is doing well as the new (and slightly unstable) Dr, but now the other half has got her hands on a copy of Cassanova(sp) which stars Tennant. Think about it. gonk lol

i really like David Tennant as the Doctor, i wasn't sure what to expect initially, as i'd never seen him in any thing else and i thought Christopher Eccleston had done a great job in the previous series, but he won me over very swiftly 3nodding His enthusiasm for the task is great, and that fact that he comes across as being completely bonkers make the show that much more enjoyable, i'm looking forward to seeing who his new assisitant will be 3nodding

Personally, I hope they do better at writing #10--there were a lot of cringe-inducing moments in this last season where he was just acting completely stupid at inappropriate moments. Tom Baker was a nut, but he never made me cringe at his eccentric behavior. There were many moments when DT really shone in the role though, so I know they could do better by him.

I agree that there were some cringe-worthy moments in this last series, which I don't recall from the Eccleston series at all - I just remember that as being very strong and enjoyable throughout (and loved CE as the Doctor...). David Tennant is very good, and I took to him quickly, after initial misgivings, but there have been some things in this last series that I could well have done without, e.g. the celebrated Peter Kay episode... burning_eyes I don't think it's DT's fault, it's the way the series was changed this time around - I'm reluctant to say dumbed down, but - gah - I've said it now.
Of course, that sweeping statement excludes my favourite episode, The Girl in the Fireplace, the fabulous Cybermen episodes and the final two-parter, which had me in tears, and a number of other brilliant moments - it was more the overall feel of the piece that I felt was different this time around.

My favorites this season were Idiot's Lantern, Impossible Planet/Satan Pit, & the 2-parter finale. Although the CGI werewolf was totally cool! whee Alleira, did you ever join The Doctor Who Guild? I know you were thinking about it....

I long to see some of these David Tennant episodes, but I don't have cable. Alas. I'm really looking forward to seeing Sarah Jane and Rose assassinate the Doctor's character. It's always a good sign when writers have the women in a man's life do that. It's charming and uncomfortably realistic at the same time. Nothing else says "gentle nuturing care" like slander! Whee! I do declare, I've become giddy.
