Lelaus Deumus - Deumus, while not very intelligent, are efficient hunters, and their prey of choice is young Empyrean (usually Stage Zero or One). While they do not consume the flesh or body of the Empyreans they kill, they do devour the Essence, making it impossible for the Empyrean to be resurrected, and leaving the corpse to become a Mara. Elanin was thankful for the hand squeeze, and squeezed back, looking up at Nadyrr, she smiled and bowed her head. "Thanks," She whispered.

Lelaus paused in his speech for just a moment, but in that one moment of stillness a loud tap-tap-tap resounded heavily on the stone hidden by the white blanket of fog in the far end of the alleyway. Lelaus didn't respond, as if he had not heard it, and continued with his tale.
Padmir's Tale "Padmir roze up, paralyzed by fear, and straining to see through the mist, she was unprepared when the monster broke through the mist." Another tap-tap-tap resonated closer, the dull stony sound resonating up the walls with a low rumble.
Padmir's Tale "At first the beast seemed like nothing but blackness and shadow...but as first its leg broke through to reveal a dark and hairy limb, its true size became apparent. This thing, whatever it was, was massive! Fifteen, maybe eighteen feet tall, with long claws that tapped against the flagstones when it lumbered forward with surprsing speed...and then WHAM!" Lelaus lunged forward at the closest student and seized his belly with both outstretched hands.
Lelaus "Just like this he seized her around the middle with massive toothy jaws and curling tusks and splitting her belly open he spilled her intestines, steaming onto the floor of the alleyway...and worried her, like a ragdoll back and forth, severing her body into peices that hit against the wall here...and here...and there behind you..." Lelaus pointed to the faint stains on the wall where the blood had burned into the stone from the essence that had been sucked out of the flesh, and the gestured behind them at the last spot where the remainder of Padmir's body had fallen.

Grave jumped a mile when Lelaus seized one of the students, and clung to Torrid and Ubel with claw-like hands rigid with fear. Grave loked to the acid-like burns in the stone where this Padmir's blood had once been sprayed from some vicious monster's attack.

Dariyn was shaking, and though he knew Morrow was upset, he was terrified, clinging to the other with something akin to desperation. "This...I don't think I much like stories with endings like that..." He bemoaned.

Elanin shuddered, and grimaced looking at each spot on the ground, it looked terrible, and it seemed to be a terrible way to die. She squeezed tighter onto Nadyrr's hand. She would never leave the city EVER. Lelaus Deumus - Deumus, while not very intelligent, are efficient hunters, and their prey of choice is young Empyrean (usually Stage Zero or One). Morrow growled after jumping. "Did you have to tell it like that?! Is it not enough we're completely terrified? But you have to add to the effect by lunging at us?!"

Lelaus "And there is where Padmir's head and shoulders fell onto the stone floor. It was only a moment but then the monster began to drain her soul into itself, and the writhing agony of that is what killed her, so say the Scorched Souls... And when it had drained her beyond the point of resurrection, it left her body th--" Lelaus drew still, and grew very quiet. His face was ashen, distracted, and he seemed to be staring off into the mist. Where he was pointing, if one tried, they could make out a shape in the mists, massive, looming, and if one listened, they could hear a faint snarling as whatever it was breathed heavily. And then, uninvited the thing stepped forward through the mists, first one leg and then the other. At least eighteen feet tall, the monster was built of coiling muscle on seemingly indestructable bones. It was covered from its head - still lost up in the mists - to its massive clawed feet in short, jagged black fur, and from the heights above so utterly lost in mist and darkness, two red eyes glowed and a wet muzzle glistened in their reflective light.

Aysel jumped with a muted shriek as the professor lunged, moving forward to put her hand shakilly on Ubel's shoulder, offering him a weak smile. She wondered if the professor was trying to scare them (if so, it was working), and moreso, why they would. That was just mean...

Ubel was frozen. Absolutely frozen. There... was something out there. His hand reached up to hold on tightly to Aysel's, the other hand clutching at Grave's still, tiny whimpers coming from him.

This would be the point where Elanin would scream like a girl... "EEEEEEAAAH!" She screeched at the image and darted behind Nadyrr. Try as she might, she could not muster up the courage to face down that creature in the mist. She slammed her eyes shut and started to hyperventilate.
Well there went any hopes of scoring bravery points.
