Archer Wren - stake acquired

He hated not being Wolfeite; his vision was so much less acute as a civilian, and it grated on Archer's nerves, made the irritation flare hotly through his veins. At the very least, he'd managed to run into Lauri; Archer's hands came up, fingers digging into the Finn's waist to keep himself from being separated again.

It wouldn't do to have his recruit lost, and Archer was not about to go into the specifics of just what he needed Lauri for that required him to be at his side constantly.

The command made his hackles rise. Archer tamped down on it as they burst through the doors into the sticky white web, a growl of impatience leaving him. It was low and guttural, almost his usual wolfish mannerisms pushing through the civilian glamour.

"What the <********> is this?" Archer hissed. "This is pointless."

He glanced around, caught sight of a bin of long, pointed metal objects, and snatched one up, Archer swinging violently at some of the webbing. Holding a weapon at least made him feel that much more secure, satisfaction at the swing easing through him.

It was lighter, at least, out here.

"Can you see anything?"

Daniel Alvarez-Garcia - Still a Skeleton Mariachi with painted skull

OH. SWEET., BASED. GOD.

The boy pushed out and looked to assess things, and made a face as he realized something.

The entire building was covered in a thick, white webbing and not fog. And that alone...

Ew. So ew. Daniel made a face as he looked, trying to avoid the majority of people before raising a handf. Owen had fallen in the chaos, and the boy motioned him over, frowning.

"OWEN! Over here, but be careful! There's a lot of icky sticky web and I don't think we're alone!"

And he didn't mean Thomas. Thomas seemed on edge, but Daniel wanted Owen and Bailey safe, the boy trying to motion both to him with a worried noise. His stupid brother's help haqd been appreciated but. But. Why this.

"I'm here! I'm here there's icky web EVERYWHERE!"

Yolie Hydrus - Ser Zephirin and relatively glad of it

The doors opened to so much white that looked... Silky. Webbing? Something? Disgusting. Yolie was scared, yes, but suddenly glad her cross-dressing costume had a fake and very blunt sword. It meant she could handfle it well, and the blunted, still-obviously fake sword came out, the girl beginning to hack at webbing viciuously. Internally, she was focusing on web. Is rey was willing to protect her, she was going to be a good companion and help! Help meant web -- sticky web flying everywhere as she tried flinging it off her mock-sword before hacking again, and again... And then made it out, stepping and looking around before turning to rey.

"Ithink I... Oh."

And the place her webbing landed proved to be right by her, weapon or not useless.

"Uhm... Sorry..I was trying to help."

Allison Abson - Still a salty Airship Pirate

Well, so far it wasn't godawful-- until she walked right into web without looking and tried wiping it off, making the most disgusted noise possible.

"Aaaaauuuggghhh eeewww, really? Is nothing ever normal in this town?! because this was utter bullshit and even she knew it.

Seriusly, nasty nast.

The teen was still making disgruntled noises when she saw Cara out the corner of her eye, and reached to pull herr to her...

And got stuck.

"OH COME ON YOU STUPID SPIDER BASTARDS! I SWEAR TO GOD I AM SQUISHING THE NEXT ASPIDER I SEE. SQUISH SQUISH a*****e."

Was she angry? Yes. Was she holding Cara and doing a bad job trying to protect her? HELL yes, but the girl didn't mind entirely.Instead she raised her hand, one finger upon high in a dishonourable salute to the arachnid ******** SPIDERS! you okay Cara?"

Reynard Abney - Star-Lord
Spiders. Of course it would be spiders. Spiders behind, and possibly spiders ahead, but no better hope than to get somewhere they could see and have half a chance at dodging. ... If they didn't get caught by the sticky webbing, of course. And maybe that wouldn't have been a problem, but his lady companion had a fake sword which she was using to devastating effect on the webs.... in front of her. Where was all of that webbing landing?

On him.

He couldn't hold it against her, though; she was frightened, and wanted away from the spider (spiders?) at the back of the crowd. But it was going to be hard to protect her if he had to get free, especially since his attempt to dodge the web bits she was flinging stumbled him into another web, and tearing free from that was hard, and kind of tiring.

"It's fine," he said, struggling free of anything that hampered his movement and plucking bits loose as he moved forward. "Just keep moving - we don't want to be in the back of the group if there's any behind us."

Owen Courcel - Q

"Web? Owen picked himself up and almost walked straight into some of the webbing, managing to turn at the last moment and getting only partially caught. But webs meant spiders. Many, many spiders, or big spiders. Brown eyes widened and a short scream that tapered into a whimper escaped him as he lunged for Daniel and shook.

"Not spiders. Anything but spiders I hate spiders we have to get out we have to I don't want wrapped up and liquified and - and - MAKE THEM GO AWAY!!!!"

This was supposed to be a fun outing, not a waking nightmare!

Cara Stauss - (Cheap-costume) Werewolf

"....Hey Ally?" Cara asked, eyeing the webbing ahead and the shapes she could not quite make out in the darkness behind them. "Ever punch a spider?" Hopefully they'd be able to get away without having to do that, but. If not? It could almost be fun. She yelped as the older girl tugged her over, managing to get them both somewhat stuck.

Breaking free was a little rough, but she tore herself away again and growled. "... Seriously. I kind of wanna try that now."

Damn spiders were ruining what was supposed to be a nice night! "I think I'd take another Squeakers over this mess." Then again, bats were aerial, spiders at least couldn't fly.

... Probably.

Basil Whybourne

Something about the entire situation was - off. Basil couldn't have said how, but he supposed it had something to do with the inhuman skittering sound he could hear shuffling around them in the dark. He sucked in a sharp breath as something brushed by him, the crush of people knocking him unpleasantly this way and that.

There were too many people. Basil had never liked crowds.

"What do you think it is?" He started to ask, and then felt a hand wrap around his, tugging him forward. A small flutter of - something - pulsed low in Basil's stomach, though he tried to push it down, his frown of thought deepening as he let Lysander pull them towards the exit.

It was possibly worse outside, although with more light. Basil stared up at the webbing with dismay and confusion, brows furrowing together.

"Is this some sort of...new exhibit opening?"

His arm caught on a section of sticky webbing, Basil stopping abruptly, his hand unconsciously clasping a little tighter to Lysander's to keep him from leaving him behind. He stared at the webbing around his other arm and tugged hard, trying to yank himself free.

"This is not ideal."

Steele Moore

Shikora still hadn't left him, which Steele supposed was a bonus. Either that, or she thought him both incompetent and pathetic, both of which were unfortunately true, but it wasn't like she needed to know it. Steele flashed her a smile as she grabbed ahold of his shoulder, moving in tandem towards the exit, struggling not to lose sight.

And also struggling not to throw up, because if this was what he thought it was, then gross.

The webbing was not exactly encouraging. Steele gave it a long look of utter disdain before hastily trying to push his way through, internally crying a little as the long strands of sticky white caught at his expensive suit. This costume had cost him money, after all!

"Well, this is certainly an adventure!" he called over to Shikora, trying to keep his voice light and cheerful. "Like Indiana Jones!"

He really needed to stop watching adventure movies.

Rowan Cameron (Victorian Gotch Vampire)

The exit sign was the like the light that moths flocked to. Everyone rushed it. The whole thing was complete chaos but Rowan managed to get out fairly quickly with Trey and Elex. The bodies squeezing out of the exit were akin to a dam spewing its excess waters. The difference was that people were stopping upon the exit doors as they encountered something they hadn't ever experience before. At least not in such mass quantities and size.

Rowan was one of the unlucky ones who found himself running headlong into the sticky web. The substance was like glue. It clung to every piece of the teen that touched it. Clothes, hands, face, even his hair (which was not a fun prospect for getting out later). "Watch out!" He yelled to both Trey and Elex whom he had released when exiting the doors. Hopefully, they both heard the warning and could get around the barrier.

With nothing left to it, Rowan had no choice but to try and pull himself out. It was far from easy. Every time he pulled away bits of the spider's web would go with him and sometimes get him stuck again. It was a tiring affair trying to free himself.

Finally though, he felt the final strand snap. The unfortunate problem was that he had been leaning forwards with all of his weight. The snapping of the last strand sent the boy stumbling, covered in the sticky web, and crashing into Elex. The result was the webs, being like glue, effectively stuck the younger Cameron boy to the other dark-haired teen. Who, Rowan had noted, managed to mainly get out scot-free. "Hope you don't mind the intrusion. "Just thought we could stick together?" He attempted to joke as a way to ease his frazzled nerves. It didn't help much.

This whole thing was either an amazing, sick joke or they were legitimately in trouble. Perhaps those monster's Elex had mentioned?

"Over here, Trey!" He yelled when he heard his name. "I got caught in the web!"

He began to pluck at the webbing that was sticking him the youngest Yorke boy but found it a far too tedious task for the situation they were currently in.

"We need to catch up with my brother." He said, worry for his brother appeared on his face.

"Trey!" He yelled again.

Gweneth Malley (Black Cat w/ metal stake)

Of all people to catch her, it was Isaiah. In his drunken stupor he still managed to keep her from falling flat on her a**. Whether it was dumb luck or not, Gwen was appreciative of the catch. She was not, so much, of the hand groping around to grab her hand and in the process found it's way to a breast. It was a mere pass though as his hand slipped down her arm and grabbed hold. "Hey, Watch what you're grabbing." She hissed at him.

She skittered behind Ice and she heard Yvaine close to her side mentioning a power outage. Why do I get the feeling it's something so much worse? Oh, I know why, because this is Destiny City and nothing is ever that easy. "Yea. Maybe that's all it is. Can't really be anything else, right?" She could feign her calmness if it meant keeping her friend calm.

They reached the exit and by that point Gwen had managed to free herself of Isaiah's grip so the man could have his one and only arm free. Gwen kept Yvaine well within grabbing range in case things went downhill fast. She knew....well, hoped, Isaiah could take care of himself to a point. Then again, with how wasted he is he may be fairly useless.

Hurrying out the door, Gwen noted the stray pieces of what looked to be web hanging around. It tried to cling to her, but she managed to break free without too much hassle. Her eyes lighted upon a cluster of people who seemed to be grabbing at something in a box. She joined them and found, to her delight, metal stakes inside. Grabbing one she felt a bit more prepared for whatever may happen.

"Isaiah? Yvaine?" She turned for the two, expecting to see them behind her but didn't see a head of dreads or black hair.

Were they stuck in the web?

Aloysius Sharp

With a wide open mouth he screamed internally at the webs that clung to him as he made his way out into the moonlight. It clung to him and his hair tightly causing him to slowly but forcefully pull his braid out of it. In the end he ended up losing the hair tie which left his hair slowly falling down below his knees. The makeup that once stayed perfectly on his face now was smeared all over the webs he had walked right into. The coat he had on was now stuck in the webs just leaving him with his vest and slacks.

Aloysius was absolutely miserable at this point and whined to himself as he tried to get all the webs out of his thick brown and black stained hair. Every time he got some of it out, it would just stick to him where he couldn't shake it off. He looked around to see if anyone was in better shape to help him as he started to get wrapped up in his own hair and the sticky spider webs.

Jordan Riley (in a simple dress) -- taking a metal stake
That was ******** it. The webs didn't hold Jordan for long, but the stupid things snagged and tore on their dress, on their shoulders, on their face; they almost gagged, knowing some had almost made it to their lips. That the taller members of the rush had taken the brunt of the full-facial webs didn't relieve Jordan's ire any - it just inflamed it, really, and as soon as the glint of the metal stakes caught their eye their hand shot out almost immediately.

God, but they wanted to kill something. Preferably a spider? Spider guts would ruin their dress so they'd never have to wear it again.

Sunny Dyer (in costume as Princess Zelda)
Sunny's panicked whimpering was drowned out by everyone else trying to make their way out of the room, which made her feel a little better; the close-pack of bodies was relaxing, in a way, even if she didn't like the fact it was so close as to be skin on skin. The webbing was stronger than she expected, too, weirdly strong - pulling with all her strength sent her tumbling forward and almost knocking someone else over, their shoulders sticking to each other before she pulled away again, anxious.

Lysander Cadwell

"I think it's spiders and I don't think they're supposed to be here." He tugged his arm away from some webbing and unstinting himself from the mess. If there weren't so many damned people around he would have powered up. Someone might have thought he was the cause of the problem but he could have at least gotten rid of the damn things and the infernal webbing

Lysander started to walk away before feeling the tug on his arm and realizing Basil had gotten stuck as well. "Here ..." He caught the other man's arm and helped pull him away from the sticky webbing.

"We should get away from the building. These things ... whatever's going on ... isn't right."

Trey Cameron - Modern Vampire hunter, with foam stake REAL STAKE & cross necklace

The older brother dragged the younger and his friend along as he shouldered his way through people towards the exit. It was a bumpy, jostling march, but at least he had the advantage in height over many of the people here. He could keep the light in view till they made it to the door and through.

Outside, the chill night air greeted them, though the fog he had thought he’d seem past the windows was decidedly not fog now that he was close enough to get a good look at it. His stomach dropped and he felt his throat get dry as he stared at spider webs, cocooning in the entire building. The only way out was through, but Trey felt his heard jumping in his chest to think about it. He felt his brother shifting, calling for ‘Elex’ and the young man responding, and it reminded him that there was more at stake here than just him. If he couldn’t make it through, what hope did his brother have? And above all, Rowan had to be protected.

Releasing his brother, for the moment, Trey gathered himself, threw his arms up to shield his face, and charged through the wall of white that kept them from safety. If he could just clear a hole big enough to let the others through…

The webs tried to catch at him, sticky and clinging, but his momentum and weight carried him through with a sound almost like tearing before he was free. The area past the webs was blessedly clear and empty of spiders, to Trey’s relief, and it gave him a moment to glance about for something, anything that would be useful to them.

There! A box left by one of the grounds keepers offered stakes that were FAR more effective than the toy one he’d been carrying all night, now lost somewhere behind him. Others had the same idea and were quickly emptying the box, but Trey managed to muscle his way in and snag one himself before he turned back to check on his brother.

“Rowan? Come on!” He called, searching for the head of dark purple hair.

Elex Yorke (undead)

The human flow through the doors and under the night sky often swept out people like Elex — thin people, short people, overlooked people. His avian bones betrayed his sharp demeanor and the knit of legs, arms, heads, torsoes, and hands towed him under from Rowan's grasp. The font of human flesh carried him through leagues of webbing mostly unscathed, and what few strips remained behind tugged easily out of his grasp. He recovered his breath in the night air, safe from the scents of fear and perspiration.

It's just like the park. Here, too. Panting, Elex looked about himself. He caught Trey's retreating figure as the man backtracked for his brother. Rowan was out of sight. Elex rubbed the prickling feeling from his open lips, checked his fingers, then rubbed them across his slacks. Most people still clotted the entrance with their writhing need to find the open air; beyond them, little stood out in the dimly-lit environment. Next to one of the floral retaining walls, however, sat a small box of gardening stakes ready for use. A few others found a similar idea for them — among those opportunistic few, Elex recognized a brilliant head of curly red under the lantern light. Decision made, he followed her.

Elex caught up to seize a stake of his own, with a thin arm passing easily through a pair of rushed party-goers. He urged his recognized companion's attention. "Rhona." Back eyes combed her urgently in a check of health. She looked fine — most of the people around looked fine.

The human dam began its breech, however, and Rowan's voice called above the crowd.

Elex spared a last glance at Rhona, then split for the calling party. A brisk jog delivered him to the scene. Rowan bodily struck him at once, and the smaller of the pair reeled back only so far as the webbing coating Rowan would allow. Elex started terribly, with his heart splitting through his throat. Wide-eyed, he looked to his stake-wielding hand. No blood, no bone. He breathed a needful sigh.

I have no right to regrets over accidents. As a Negaverse agent, murder is my tithe to pay. So why this? He looked up to Rowan as he swallowed his words down carefully. "Let's find him, then," he assented. "When I saw him earlier, he was coming back this way. And —" he paused, considered his phrasals. "This is a necessity." Elex held the stake in his mouth, then braced both hands against Rowan's chest to attempt prying them apart. It began to work, if crudely.

Alphonse Wingates-St. Grey

Alphonse was half dreaming when the lights went out and seemed to be the last to notice when the darkness descended on the crowd. Perhaps it had been the weather which had taken a turn for the worst as he looked out the window. One last bolt of lightening illuminated the room before everything went black again. He should leave, but it seemed like everyone else had the same idea. The boy was never any good in crowds and he stumbled trying to find a exit.

Cordelia Carden [1] & Abigail Doyle [7]

Abigail was talking and Cordelia was only partially listening to her-- only partially because she'd glanced up only to notice that Fritz had disappeared from the place she'd last seen him. Less of a disappearance, really, and more of relocation, as she soon spotted him heading in their direction.

She had only moments to process his proximity before the lights went out and she drew in a hiss of breath. "See, Abby, this is why I didn't want to come tonight. It's always something at these events..."

"I thought you didn't want to come because-- Ow." It was hard to tell in the darkness whether or not the elbow jab to the side she received from the raven haired woman was intentional or because she'd lost her footing. Either way, she nudged back with a huff.

Once nudged she teetered forward, awkwardly bumping into Fritz. She could feel her face heat as she brought her hands up to gently push herself away from him, somewhat relieved that he wouldn't be able to see her face in the darkness.

They were herded towards the door like cattle as everyone tried to move, the masses finally making their way to the door and--- "Spiders. Spider webs, Giant spiders. Stars and stones. I can't. I... No. Absolutely not." Cordelia Carden was not a fan of spiders, certainly not the ones large enough to spin webs that large and definitely not when it was too crowded to power up and fight them.

"Go on without me. I'll just die here."

Abigail rolled her eyes before glancing up to Fritz. "Make sure she doesn't get trampled, alright? Another friend of ours who knows a thing or two about spiders is here somewhere..." That said, Abby went forth into the webbing, plucking her way through the strands.

Jason McClayre - 6

So it hadn't been foggy outside at all, how had they not noticed something spinning a web around the building? This was so gross. They didn't have much of a choice though, the building behind them was being raided by something, so he pushed into the web with his shoulder. It was sticky and gross, but with enough effort he was able to break though. Webbing was still stuck to him in various places when they popped out on the other side though.

"Are you okay?" He took a moment to look his friend over. Now that they were out in the open he figured it would be better to let go of his hand, but when he tried he couldn't. Looking down some very sticky web hand bound them and any attempt to pull it off would have only made matters worse.

"Well, looks like you're really stuck with me now." He didn't immediately see any danger around them, but he was sure whatever had made those webs was lurking around somewhere.

Kapoodles

Bluebell Simmons - 1

Bluebell finally made it through the doors, only find find herself trapped in a huge spider web. It had never been foggy outside to begin with, instead some thing had covered the building in web. Surely the task would be impossible, even if they was a horde of spiders outside. Suddenly she thought of what she had bumped into inside. Please no, she had already dealt with a giant bat this week. She didn't need to deal with giant spiders as well.

The web was horribly sticky and scratchy, it took a lot of effort for her to break free. Even when she did, bits and pieces were still clinging to her. Trying to peel it from her arms only caused it to stick to her hands. She was pretty sure some of it was in her hair as well. Ugh, this was shaping up to be one horrible evening. Her costume was ruined and she was sure if anyone got close to her she'd end up stuck to them as well. Was it really that hard to have one fun evening in Destiny City?

Lulu Flowers - 5

Lulu wasn't prepared for what she found outside those door at all. There were still people behind her though and as much as she didn't want to touch the web in front of her, she didn't have much of a choice as the crowd pushed her into it. It felt so gross as she tried to break through it. At least she managed to escape with some effort, but her foot was still a little caught in the web. It took some effort to pull it free and even when she did bit of the web still clung to her leg. It was so sticky, every time her foot came down on the ground she had to give it a hard tug for it to move again.

After some time enough grass and dirt was stuck to it that it didn't matter anymore, but it was still very itchy against the parts where it touched her skin. She shuddered at the thought of what creatures must have spun the web.
