"There are that." he said in agreement. "Always some jerk who'd rather keep something to themselves for one reason or another." he sighed.
Vaden gave Zalir a small smile at the pat. "Thanks."
Vaden eyed the next booth a little skeptically, but Zalir wanted to try so that was fine with him. He hefted the squirt gun and took position sighting down the gun on the duck.
Well here went nothing...
=================
Vaden was surprised when he managed to do it, but was now faced with the problem of picking out yet another toy. He frowned and hesitated. He really considered himself far to old for toys...Maybe he could give it away to a freshling if he saw one.
After having the first soda, Laurel went back up to the stand and looked for other types to try. A root beer float sounded really good right about now, especially if it came with all the whipped cream, ice cream and sprinkles! However, he couldn't help but gasp in awe as a big bowl was handed to him. Even he knew he wouldn't be able to finish that on his own! Maybe one of the caretakers would like to share it with him?

Jacie grumbled more, glaring as he waited in line. Why should he have to wait!? He looked around, watching other mingling again to pass the time. Standing in line was boring! Not even the mingling changed that! He sighed, considering stirring up some mischief.... But with whom? He looked around at everyone thoughtfully. His claw tapping his lips as he quickly inspected each nightmare. None of them seemed interesting enough to try and spook or something in that nature. He sighed, reminded of how bored he was. He looked to the front of the line, tempted to tell them to hurry up!
Morin frowned having turned back from talking to Yue to see that the twins had each now had one new plushie in their arms. He had been slightly listening when Nasai had gone off to get Lerin a plushie but where in the world had Nasai’s new one came from. “Do I want to know”
Nasai laughed weakly and made sure to rub behind Anubis’s ears. “Well I gifted Lerin her so she found this toss the ball into the bowl contest and got six out of ten which apparently meant she got a plushie, and that meant she had to gift it to me because you know a plushie gifting war?”
Favrielle followed and anytime there was a short enough line the demoness would at least try her hand at the game. Sadly to no avail, no giant stuffed animals going home with her today but she was okay with that. It was nice just being able to go about with Jaret. "I don't think these games are actually winnable!" She jested slightly, clearly seeing students walk away from the tables with prizes. "I think they are just paying them off." She said scrunching her nose as she laughed.
Another zero on the bottom of this flower. Perhaps she shouldn't get all worked up about this. Losing was okay, and that group of nightmares wasn't around and laughing at her. She really didn't like it when the other nightmares starred at her horn and made comments about it under their breath.
Deciding on the yellow flower that was going by her, she reached down to pick it up.
"Those jerks should not be allowed to call themselves scientists. Or magic-users." Zalir shook zeir head in disgust. "It really does bring the fields down when they're mistreated like that by...by jerks."
Zalir pulled the trigger on the squirt gun, firing rapidly. Zeir duck just barely touched the other side before the buzzer went off. Zey smiled with relief and then turned to the matter of prizes. While Vaden was offered a selection of stuffed toys, zey were offered a variety of glow necklaces. Zey hesitated, then picked the purple one. It reminded them of Vaden--and zey definitely wanted to remember zeir first friend. Zey had a feeling that this friendship might last longer than a week. It certainly had the signs of doing so...no one, for example, had ever offered zem help, or invited zem back to their room. So that was a sign right there!
Zey turned to Vaden as zey put on zeir purple necklace. Its glow seemed to complement the orange one already around zeir neck. "Want to try again? Or...move on?"
((If I win anything, I'll RP it in the next post.))

Vaden wasn't sure how to react to Zalir's vehemence, but he did have to agree. "It is a shame, but it happens in every field honestly." he shook his head. "Sometimes it's politics though...why cure a disease, when you can make more money selling temporary fixes that people have to keep coming back for." he sighed.
Vaden looked over as Zalir picked out their prize. "That's a good color for you." He said with a nod and small smile.
He then looked around the room. "There's a ski ball thing over there." He pointed. "Let's go try that."
He secured the plushie in his bag and started off towards it. Once there he hefted the ball warily but had to be satisfied that it was the right weight for this sort of game. He eyed the goals and then tossed it gently towards them.
===================
Vaden looked over the selection of prizes. He bit the inside of his mouth. This still had evidently seen a lot of action and the selection was a bit slim.
"You know what, I'll pass." he said. "Let one of those toys go home to someone who will love it." he nodded and then moved so Zalir could take their turn.
Well, thanks to a nearby caretaker, Laurel didn't have to eat the entire root beer float himself! He was thankful, really, he would've gotten a belly ache otherwise! After a quick conversation and hug goodbye, the pink haired freshling was once again off to play games. He hadn't played the balloon pop game yet, despite passing it by several times, and bounded up to the counter. The darts they used for the game were pointy, so he had to be careful!
His first shot was a miss, but his next to shots hit the balloons dead on! He'd one a medium plushie!
"Yay! Thank you so much!" He squealed, snuggling the latest addition to his collection. Maybe he'd play again until he got the blue spotted plushie in the corner?
He only needs one more plushie and he's won them all... 8U

Yue had to hide a smile. She really had missed the twins, although speaking of all the old timers she did wonder if she should try to find Meris again, at least tell him she was still here, then again he might be mad they were having a prompt reunion… better not just in case. Maybe she could win him a plushie… or it wouldn’t hurt to win another one herself. Her pile did need some new friends. “I know that look and such I’m a horrible enabler lets go get some more cute stuffed things” Nasai teased. It was then she noticed one of the event people handing out plushies and Nasai grabbed one. “There for your collection”
Before the other nightmare had gotten a chance to answer her question, Pepper spotted another game that was giving away some of the necklaces she was so keen on. With a delighted noise she was off, scurrying towards the new game. As soon as she'd tried the new game she could always make her way back to the other freshling, and hopefully she'd have one of the necklaces as well. That decided, she waited until a junior had had their turn and then stepped up to the small pool. From what she'd seen, all you had to do to win something was pick one of the flowers with the right mark on it.
Pursing her lips, she consulted her little familiar. "What do you think is the best one Raffe?" she asked the skyfish. The fish swam around in the air for a bit before darting to a bright green flower that was nearly out of her reach. Setting Babette down, she stretched as best as she could, her fingertips brushing the flower. Scooting a bit more forward, she managed to nab the duck. To her delight, she had managed to grab a winning one and claimed her prize. That sparkly purple necklace was hers!
Keira moved to the food table, scoping out all the different foods. She grabbed a plate and served herself some food.. avoiding meat. She wasn't a vegetarian but she did try to avoid meats since she preferred to have greens anyways. She found a place to sit, smiling to herself as she ate her salad. Everyone seemed to be having fun and she was glad she had decided to come back. She pushed her plate aside and ran her fingers through his red hair, she watched others playing the games. She wondered if she could win a familiar like some of the other nightmares she had watched. Perhaps later she would try but for now... she was enjoying nightmare-watching.
Jaret smiled to her, "Awe maybe next time, Favvy." He reassured her after she lost her games. He lightly touched her shoulder and gave her an even bigger smile. "If we don't win anything then I will just make you a little stuffed animal, okay?" He offered, lightly tugging her over to some of his favored games. The first few he tried, he had no luck at all. He rubbed his neck with a nervous laugh, "I had really thought that I would win something for you already." He looked over to another booth then to Favreille. "This is the one!" He said playfully with full confidence.
He casually walked over to the booth and waited their turn in line. He picked up the baseball and weighed it quietly in his palm. He aimed and... BOOM! The whole stack of bottles fell. He laughed and threw his arms up, "I got it!" He said with excitement in his voice then pointing to a stuffed animal, That one please." He said politely. Holding the plush toy, he smiled and looked to Favrielle then bowing to her. "For you, Princess Favrielle!" He said as he presented it like a knight.
"I really wish politics didn't have to come in and pollute every other field," Zalir sighed. "It would be a lot nicer world if we all would just be nice to each other, I think."
Zalir blushed. Zey didn't explain why zey'd picked the purple necklace--it reminded zem of Vaden, and Zalir wanted a reminder not only of this wonderful event, but of the friend zey'd made there. But it would have sounded creepy, or as if zey had a crush on him if zey'd said that, and really, zey didn't want to get into an explanation right now. "Purple's not normally my color. Um, I prefer oranges and, um, other warm colors. But purple's nice, yes."
Zalir examined the skee ball table. This was not a game with which zey were particularly familiar, but it looked pretty simple. Zey took the ball from the vendor and tossed it towards the upper goals.
((If zey win anything, I'll have to RP it later, I've got somewhere to go today and already I'm running late!))
Laurel paid the fee to play the balloon pop game a second time and sighed as none of his throws popped a balloon. Aww, well, he'd have to try again! He wanted that blue plushie so badly! He hoped he had enough money to continue playing, though. He might have to go back to his dorm and get some more soon!
