Bugsy's grin remained on his face, ever large and filled with boyish charm, especially now that Tobio suggested that he hadn't expected Bugsy's pokemon to be so strong. "Yeah, I get that a lot." Bugsy said rather proudly, thumbing the tip of his nose and adjusting his net again. He had to laugh a bit though as Tobio suggested that his dreams were bigger than Bugsy's. It wasn't an arrogant laugh though, it was genuine with a childish amusement. "Big dreams huh? Well big or small, they're all equally important. My dream is to show how strong bugs really can be. I think I've already proved my point with you, so no matter the outcome of this battle, I'll be satisfied." Bugsy mused. It was clear he'd put up quite the fight against Toru's pokemon, and that alone was more than what most people expected of bug types. "Though, that doesn't mean I'm gonna start taking it easy on you." He smirked, inclining his head as a scizor was sent out. Toru remarked that it looked like he knew something about scyther after all, making Bugsy chuckle. "Heh. I'd say that remains to be seen." Bugsy retorted. Knowing evolutionary lines was all well and good, but it was pretty basic and common knowledge as far as Bugsy was concerned. For Toru to think he actually knew something about scyther because he had the evolution was little more than a cop out for a bug expert like Bugsy. Still, the bullet punch was a smart tactic, taking advantage of the scizor's speed and landing a pretty hard hit on his kakuna, but he could stand to take a few more of those hits. Good thing too, they would need that sort of endurance to take down the steel bug. Bugsy had his kakuna tackle Saeko, and while it did less damage than usual, it was still a decent hit.

He needed to think of something that could deal out more damage than the bullet punch, having the speed advantage was all well and good but it wouldn't mean anything if he couldn't start putting Pokemon away. "Tch," for the first time in his journey he was getting serious, he needed to think of a way to keep Bugsy on his toes, if Takanobu was still around he could use roar and force swap outs into the stealth rock. But that wasn't the case, he needed something better. "Maybe when I come to rematch you you can give me a lesson on strong bugs, but for now I think I'll start to wrap this fight up. Thanks for your life story though. Saeko, use Bullet Punch again, let's keep him on his toes." Scizor sped back across the field and launched another barrage of punches.

"Wrapping up? You underestimate my bugs, and that will be your downfall." Bugsy grinned. Another bullet punch hit, but his kakuna was still in decent shape. "And by the looks of it, you need a lesson in strong bugs now, rather than later, because if your scizor were properly trained, I wouldn't be able to do this!" Bugsy pointed his net at the steel clad bug, silently commanding his kakuna to attack. The cocoon pokemon slammed against the scizor not once, but twice in a row. "Bug pro tip, scizor are insanely fast, if my kakuna can hit your scizor twice in a row, there's something seriously wrong." Bugsy twirled his net and hung it on his shoulders once more. "My guess is you came in here thinking that I would be a pushover, and you didn't prepare properly. You might get away with beating me in sheer numbers this go around, I'll give you that one, but a tactic like that is going to get you crushed later on in your gym challenge. Especially if you ever get to the elite four." Bugsy squatted down like a froaky on the grassy gym floor, propping himself up with his net and shot Toru another childish grin. "It's called the Gym challenge for a reason, dummy." He was enjoying himself, even if he figured he might ultimately lose. This was a fun battle, and Toru was a good opponent. A bit arrogant, but still, he had potential, if he put a little more time into training, he certainly would be a force to be reckoned with. Though, perhaps it was best he learned some humility first, and Bugsy would be more than happy to teach it to him.

He wanted to take this leader down with the same amount of Pokemon that he used. He had already seen three of his Pokemon so he wouldn't let Saeko fall if he could help it. She was hanging in there and that was more than admirable. "Alright then, I don't want to be the guy who wins with numbers. I'll admit I underestimated you but it looked like you've begun to underestimate me. We have more to us than swarming you with numbers. They fight for me and I fight right back for them. Saeko let's do this." Pulling a potion from his bag he sprayed the Scizor and revived her to full health. Looking rejuvenated now he grinned, "alright let's go back on the offensive, Bullet Punch!" Saeko nodded and sped once again across the field. "Sci!" Scizor let loose another barrage of punches, landing again, this would be the move that turned the tides.

That wasn't news to either of them. As much as Toru didn't want to win with numbers or items he knew that they were a legit way to battle. He knew a win was a win and the badge in his bag was the badge in his bag period. He wouldn't make the mistake when he battled with the next leader. He would make sure that his training was complete when it came down to Whitney. But right now he needed to put this battle away, "ok, let's wrap this up then Bugsy." His voice now serious and collected, he wasn't playing around anymore and he wanted to finish this. "Saeko, another bullet punch," and with that the Scizor released a barrage of punches and Kakuna toppled over, not getting back up Toru pumped his arm. The battle was over, the first Pokemon of Bugsy's to fall. "All right, that shows us that these Pokemon aren't invincible. Keep it up Saeko you have another one coming your way. I believe in you!" Saeko turned her head and gave a nod to her trainer. Shadow boxing now she was prepared for the next Pokemon. The battle was on. "Well Bugsy, let's end this battle then, for both of our sakes."

Bugsy closed his eyes and returned his kakuna when he fell. "You were a trooper out there Kakuna, time for a well earned rest." He murmured into his pokeball with a smile. The blow made Toru comment that Bugsy's pokemon weren't invincible. "Pft, of course not. No pokemon are invincible." Bugsy laughed. At least Toru seemed excited finally, rather than calm and arrogantly confident. He sent out his metapod next, amused by his opponent's shadowboxing. Toru suggested they end the battle for both their sakes. "Sounds like a plan." Bugsy voiced his agreement. Though he still wasn't going to make this easy for Toru, the battle was certainly starting to draw to a close. "Use Bug Bite metapod!" ╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════╗ Kakuna went down and the metapod that was out before was back. This meant that he was going back through the roster. It was almost over! "Saeko! Play Rough, let's roll this cocoon!" He was fired up now, he knew that there came a point in every intense battle when you had to let your emotions fly. He had stayed calm long enough and there was no more time for that. With Saeko tumbling into the Metapod it too went down, which meant there was only one more left. "HA! There we go Saeko! Keep it up, Scyther is coming out next. Let's do this!" He carried an entirely new energy with him now. Saeko seemed more motivated to fight this time around. The end was coming for Bugsy and he still had Pokemon to spare, who cared about how many he used. He was within the rules.

This was it, his last pokemon. The moment his metapod went down, Bugsy knew the battle was coming to an end. This was going to be his last shot or two unfortunately, with his scyther's crippling weakness to rock type moves, sending him out into the stone riddled battlefield would take a huge chunk of his health. It was too bad too, since the bug could have come into the fray at full health had the stealth rock not been placed, but Bugsy had faith in his pokemon. He returned the metapod and sent out his scyther. "Let's pit your scizor's speed against my scyther. Quick attack!" Bugsy commanded, and as he expected his scyther was faster, able to rush forward and strike in the blink of an eye. It wasn't enough to finish the Saeko off, but she was looking worse for the wear.

╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════╗ He was right, scyther was the last pokemon he had. Taking massive damage from the Stealth Rock he saw a chance to strike "Saeko play rough!" Saeko was worse for wear and was on her last legs. Toru didn't want to lose this pokemon he wanted both of them to only use three pokemon and this was the end of the line either way. Play rough did good damage but scyther too seemed like he was on it's last legs.
There was only really one chance to wrap this up. "Ok Saeko pursuit don't give him a chance to move!" And with that Saeko rushed in low and hit scyther hard. That was it. Scyther hit the ground and Saeko dropped down to a knee, she was spent. Toru pumped his arm. It was a tough battle but it was over now. Looking down at Tobio and Takanobus balls he spoke quietly "couldn't have done this without you guys." And looking out the field to his Scizor he grinned "atta girl Saeko you stuck in there and made it happen." Looking across the arena to Bugsy he wiped his nose and stepped down.
Walking towards the middle of the arena he set to meet the leader. "That was a tough battle. I underestimated you and your bugs. I'll have to make sure to train harder before I come back next time. " he was an annoying kid but he definitely gave Toru a run for his money. Reaching out his hand to shake Bugsys he could rest for a while before beginning his training to battle with Whitney in Goldenrod.

Bugsy was grinning even as his pokemon was defeated. It was a good battle, and he felt like he'd made his point. A lot! Toru seemed to confirm it, too, as he moved to meet him center stage. Bugsy recalled his pokemon on his way out, thumbing his nose and then holding out his hand to take Toru's in a firm handshake. "You bet! Be careful about Whitney, too! I know you might have been hearing about rematch teams and all, but even her first team can be pretty tough!" He withdrew his hand, reaching back to pull out Toru's rewards. ╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════╗ That was an incredible battle. It was close, and at times there was a risk that he couldn’t pull it off. The mistake of sending out Tobio was one that he wouldn’t soon forget. He misread the typing of Metapod and sent out a psychic Pokemon with an Ice type attack. That was a rookie mistake but he had been taken in by the heat of battle. For someone who prided himself on staying cool during battle he really lost it during that one. A trip to the Pokemon center was needed now as his team had taken a pretty large beating during that battle. As he exited the Azalea town gym and headed for the Pokemon Center he was brimming with excitement, there was nothing better than a hard fought battle. ╠═══════════════════════════════════════════════╣

Her determination threw the roof, Avikna didn't even notice the speed of her pace until Mave poked at her mind. 'Hold up' She spoke, directing her eyes towards Lexera, who despite having gained a better equilibrium, was still struggling to keep up. Avikna slowed down, eventually coming to a stop to wait for her to catch up. When the sheep finally made it, it was clear she was out of breath. Even if she'd done more the attacking, that long trek through the cave had taken it out of the poor creature. Avikna signed, thinking for a moment about what to do. She couldn't return Lexera, not yet... There was only one option open for her. Falling to a knee, she faced her back towards Lexera, and motioned with her hands for her to climb aboard. Celcius, shifted his body, making room for pint-sized sheep. Lexera hesitated for a moment, unsure if this was alright. Of course after one more coax from Avikna, the Flaaffy quickly climbed aboard.
With Lexera on her back, the group made it into Azalea within minutes. Not long after, Avikna was standing inside the gym. Bugsy, luckily enough was present. Standing up in a tree, the bug-type gym leader smiled down at Avikna. "A challenger? Or did you come to learn the wonders of Bug-type Pokemon? Maybe both?" The leader asked, chuckling softly to himself. "I've come for a badge." Avikna replied. Upon hearing this leader used Bug-type Pokemon it all came back to Avikna. She also knew who she was going to use. Tossing a ball out into the field, Astrid emerged. "A battle it is." Jumping from the tree, the male landed with a thud. As he collected himself, he released his first Pokemon, a Scyther.

The young boy began to expertly twirl his net in between his fingers, and even as he approached Avikna kept the circular motion at a steady pace, without faltering once. He stopped only when he stood directly in front of the woman, and from his pocket he retrieved a Ledyba patterned badge and a disc. "Here you go! Another battle done in under a half hour. Avikna found herself less then satisfied, but it was to be expected. Bugsy after all was a early gym, and bugs... were just not that strong in the end, not when it came to a flame. She accepted her rewards with a straight face however. Avikna was one to gloat, but not when it came to such a one-sided match like this. She nodded her head at Bugsy's warning. Though, in truth Avikna had already won. Greeting Astrid, the red-head ran a hand along the dragon's body. As she had done with Faulkner, she left the gym without saying anything.
Once she got outside, she placed her new items into her bag and summoned Arietty from her ball. Returning Astrid and the rest she met Arietty's gaze. "We're going to be taking on Whitney again." She stated, folding her arms for a moment. "I think I'll use Aislin." The Lucario had a clear advantage, and after the bit of training she'd been doing with Arietty, using Aislin in a gym match was about due. With a mental nod, the red-head climbed onto Arietty's back and they quickly took off.
