(OOC: Right, I honestly have little clue about what is meant by combat and non-combat so…. I'm sorry if this turns into another long discussion gonk . Now, as for the historical context. I tried to squish it into the description, but I keep on having the feeling that I didn't really do it in an all that coherent way. Therefore, just in case, here's a quick summary, which may or may not be better: Nai, which was what Nix was originally called, was an expert-rank gunner and host of the Sin Sloth when she lived in Axiom. Actually, I still rp her back in Axiom, but that's besides the point. Sloth is an apathetic and efficient Sin that specializes in dodging, aiming, and taking attacks. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that he could become impossible to hit if he wanted to. He can feel attacks, but doesn't really have any reaction to them. Everything he does is done in the most efficient manner. As for Nai herself. I never really made any specific talent for her combat abilities. However, with her history of having been forced to fight for her life gladiator-style for as long as she could remember, I figured it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to say that she maintained some sort of physical perks from her past. Her body was conditioned to the max and while Nix's initial period of extreme weakness in Rykros might have erased most of the perks of such a body, she still retained some small traits. In addition to her natural experience, the girl was the unnatural holder of the Sin Sloth, an apathetic, unmotivated, and extremely efficient character. The two cooperated surprisingly well, perhaps better than any other sin-host pair. From the sin, the girl's body and mind reached the pinnacle of efficiency, to the point that such unnatural energy conservation became natural. Strengths: Speed and strength are both boosted by +1 overall (battle training). Nix gains a +1 strength modifier while defending by making slight changes in body position to minimize damage (battle experience, Sloth's efficiency). She has the ability to focus and think clearly even while taking large amounts of damage (battle experience, Sloth's apathy). An additional +1 speed modifier is added when Nix is in a situation requiring reflexes (Sloth's efficiency). Nix require 2 less posts than normal to learn skills (Sloth's efficiency). Weaknesses: If Nix cannot move, then she obviously cannot shift her position to decrease damage, nullifying her +1 strength modifier for defense. While Nix can focus and think clearly while taking large amounts of damage, her body still feels and reacts to pain like any other body. Because Nix learns so differently from others, she gains no similarity bonus from a teacher and the difference bonus is made less effective by one post. The same penalties apply when Nix is teaching. Nix's training posts must be a minimum of five sentences long and she cannot learn more than one skill per post. Skills n/a Rp Sample: (OOC: Right, I'll need to make two rp samples for this talent. They're separated by "---".) As a trainee, Nix listened patiently to her adept teacher. However, she couldn't seem to get much from it at all. The other student, however, seemed to be doing just fine. Nix understood what was being said, but she couldn't see how this would be any better than learning by herself. Figuring that she should at least try, the girl began to perform the technique. She had to put more thought into her actions than her peer, but in the end, the girl actually finished the technique before the other trainee. There was nothing strange with that. Nix had always been one to learn quicker than others. The way her mind processed information was much more different. --- Two strikes were aimed at Nix. The first she dodged easily, only to put herself right in the line of the second strike. Without the time to dodge, the girl shifted her body to minimize the damage and took the attack. The shift in body increased the efficiency of her defense, essentially making it equivalent to the defense of someone with a strength stat one more higher than Nix. Despite the movement, though, the attack still hurt and Nix was left temporarily stunned from the pain. Only for a moment, though, and even in that moment her mind continued to work. Thanks to that, the girl was able to dodge the follow-up attack moment her body could get over the pain and move. The opponent was starting to get irritated now. Not only was this girl dodging most of his attacks, but when he could land a hit on her, she was always able to take it for less than the hit was worth. Fine, he wasn't sure what he'd do to counteract the weird defense, but at the very least he could keep the annoying girl from dodging. The man launched another attack, but it was only a feint to catch Nix off-guard for the coming skill, one that would restrain her movements. Nix was completely caught in the trap and soon found her hands and legs entrapped and splayed out, holding her completely still in a spread-eagle position in the air. She couldn't move a single inch in her position other than to twist her body a little and that wouldn't help her deal with any blows. Unable to dodge or defend, the girl took the full brunt of the upcoming attacks…. (OOC: Now, let's see. In the likely event that this talent is asking for too much. The bare bones I'd like to have are the strength modifier, clear thinking while feeling pain, speed boost, and a -1 learning bonus. From there, in order of what I'd like to have the most if there are any extra spaces left after the bare bones are fulfilled, are strength boost, speed modifier, additional -1 learning bonus. I hope that makes your job easier sweatdrop ?) Sorry Kage, it's nothing against you or Nix, but talents involving the Sins from Axiom are not being accepted, not even as bare bones. As you seem to be aware, it's too much, too overpowered, and the sins have no place in Rykros. Hopefully this doesn't brick wall your progress with her character, and you have something else you've been working on for a potential non-combat talent. As far as the difference between the two, a combat talent is something that provides direct benefits to your character in combat (In this case, both talents you submitted are combat talents), a non-combat talent is something more RP oriented that may not provide stat boosts or skills, but might give Nix the ability to "Play dead" in a wholly convincing manner, or climb up and over buildings with ease, or the ability to disguise herself masterfully... things like that. Hope that helps to clarify things.

Although, if that's what a noncombat talent is, then you might want to edit what's said on the first post... Sight, smell, hearing, touch, and even (surprisingly enough) taste are all heightened; nowhere close to the level of werebeasts or even kiranu, of course, but definitely as far as human senses can go. Likewise, her skills at using these senses are top-notch as well. No matter how much pressure she is under or how relaxed she is (even sleeping), if there is something that can be sensed even slightly, her brain will register and her body will react appropriately. Everything from blocking a sneak attack to changing diplomatic tactics to preparing for a fight is dealt with. Weaknesses: (OOC: Help… please? I was considering stuff like being sensitive to loud noises, but none of the senses are that good to make that a logical weakness so I'm sort of stuck here gonk .) Skills n/a Rp Sample: Nix quietly watched the meeting from the side of the king of Indelca. Each change in tone, each movement, was caught and analyzed by the girl's senses. Her intuition wasn't so good that she could practically read the minds of others, but she could catch simple reactions such as when one of the other leaders started to dislike the way things were going. There was a barely recognizable shift in tone and Nix could swear that for a moment her eyes caught the muscles in his exposed hand tensing before quickly relaxing. What it was he disliked, though, Nix couldn't be sure of, nor could she tell the level or the exact nature (jealously, fear, humiliation) of his dislike. However, it was interesting enough information to be passed on. Nix tapped on her king's shoulder to draw his attention before whispering her observations. The king nodded and took her observations as well as his own thoughts on the matter into account as he shifted the talk to more pleasing waters.

That's okay, this one's more difficult to develop accurate weaknesses for, but here are some suggestions. 1. She shouldn't get these benefits while she is sleeping. 2. She shouldn't have augmented taste... I know that sounds kind of stupid, but if you're approaching this in the sense that she uses her sense of taste much like a snake does, it's redundant compared to her hearing and smell. That being said, if that's not how you're looking at it and she just enjoys the Hell out of her food, don't worry about it...

1. Hm.... Well, would it be alright if I restricted the reactions while asleep to simply waking Nix up should the noise be suspicious enough? Her brain won't be able to make any complex decisions like when she's awake. Or do I still need to go the whole way and have Nix lose all benefits while asleep? 2. This one made me laugh XD . I actually wasn't planning on doing either of your predictions with enhanced taste. The taste wouldn't be anywhere near as sensitive enough to use like a snake's sense of taste and... well... enjoying the hell out of my food would be somewhat awkward to rp rofl . Although, the latter was somewhat close. I was intending to use an increased sense of taste for when someone should ever try to poison me through food (doubt that'll ever happen, but better safe than sorry, eh?). I figured that with a super-sensitive taste, some of the poisons that are considered "tasteless" to normal humans would be able to be tasted by my rpc. Not sure if that actually works, though....

Well, think of it like this. Currently, your talent has no weaknesses. You asked me for help with them, and not gaining the benefits of this talent while sleeping is a weakness, and one that's really well balanced because if Nix suspects she;s being hunted or targeted, she doesnt' have to sleep, sleep deeply or otherwise drop her guard unless . If you are asking for the ability for her to wake up at a suspicious sound, that's no weakness at all. If you don't want that weakness, think about the context you gave this talent. "An emotionless gunslinger from the streets of a nation shrouded completely in darkness 24/7" This really implies that Nix is not the kind of person that can pick up on emotional queues and body language outside of tension in the body. Being emotionless doesn't give you greater understanding of emotions or physiology, and being a ruthless gunslinger would also do a number over on her hearing. (Think about all those close calls, points blanks and gunshots. No way she'd be using earplugs for that either, since it would further hinder her hearing) That being said, she might be able to see in the dark, or be exceptionally fast at drawing her pistol -possibly both-. I know the action of drawing a pistol is more combat0oriented in the way it sounds, but really it's simply a twitch reflect she's developped through extensive muscle memory. What do you think of that? Again, only suggestions, but we need to give it some sort of balance.

Hm, I see what you mean. Alright, will add that weakness in :3nod. Well, I understand that being emotionless could actually hinder one's ability to read emotions rather than supporting it as they've never felt such emotions before. However, I didn't see it as something that would prevent it. Rather than realizing emotions by sympathizing and experiencing them, Nix's ability is more of an instinctive calculation built on years of observation. Instinctive in that her mind automatically registers the information despite having forgotten those observations. Knowing when the enemy feels cornered, thinks he/she has the upper hand, etc. gives a huge advantage in a fight and it's easy enough to translate that into everyday matters. Hmm.... You have a good point on hearing. So... is it alright to just say that Nai's hearing is average rather than heightened, but her reactions to what she hears is just as good as the other senses? Alright, so a short summary of what I've changed.... no benefits while asleep hearing is average instead of heightened (damage to hearing nullified by training and vice versa) but the reactions to anything that is heard remain the same ears are more durable than an average human (I figured constant exposure to guns should give this benefit) night sight (maybe I should take this out since I have ear durability benefit?)

Combative Talent or Non Combative: Combative/Special
Talent Name: Coup De Grace
Description: Escher self made attack. Being a Reaper he take's in energy from all around leaving a creator the size of a mountain. The intense energy put serious stress on his body and shreds the muscle the energy is being channeled to. In any case the limbs has increased speed and strength(Speed=2/Strength=3), but it's too much for the body to handle which is why it could be used only once per battle and leaves Escher with one/forth of his energy. The impact is followed but a small short range explosion with in turns hurts Escher as well. This is why the move is named "Coup De Grace" or "Blow Or Mercy" in English

Rp Sample: Escher was on the verge of losing. Man something was wrong with him, he was on some what of a losing streak for a while. As far as he knew this was hurting his rep and even making him not fit for his position as Jiaum knight and his nickname of Army of One. The reaper and mind blader stood after catching his breath while taking a knee. He had previously used the risen technique and held forth multiple mind blades. He stared his opponent down, watching the latter for any sudden movements. Escher slowly raised his arms and held them out stretched towards his opponent. The ground started to rumble and Escher started to glow in energy. He energy started to build and engulf his arm with the gauntlet on it. The ground gave away and as a Reaper, he started to take extra energy from the ground and things around him. That is how the creator was being formed. Escher Gauntlet arm was now glowing immensely. His black energy was darker than night and was purely concentrated. So much so, that it started to eat away at the part of his arm that wasn't his gauntlet, tearing muscle and sending unbearable pain in his arm. Escher let out a scream as the energy started to peak. He felt the power of this technique through all the pain. All the while he hadn't taking his eye off his opponent. He flapped his wings once and flew towards his opponent. "Coup De Grace!!" He said striking his opponent and upon striking him all the gather energy was released and sent the two flying in opposite directions. Escher felt as though he did a pretty good job. He felt sleeps embrace and though he deserved a good rest, after all he was out of energy anyways. He closed his tired eyes and drifted away towards the dream world.

Knowing when the enemy feels cornered, thinks he/she has the upper hand, etc. gives a huge advantage in a fight and it's easy enough to translate that into everyday matters. Hmm.... You have a good point on hearing. So... is it alright to just say that Nai's hearing is average rather than heightened, but her reactions to what she hears is just as good as the other senses? Alright, so a short summary of what I've changed.... no benefits while asleep hearing is average instead of heightened (damage to hearing nullified by training and vice versa) but the reactions to anything that is heard remain the same ears are more durable than an average human (I figured constant exposure to guns should give this benefit) night sight (maybe I should take this out since I have ear durability benefit?)
Average hearing is not a weakness, and constant exposure to guns doesn't make a person's ears any stronger than they were already. She is a human. Try spending so much as an hour in a firing range firing guns without earplugs every day, and you'll see what I mean. Her hearing should be below average, though not by much. Especially if you intend to keep these benefits she has at reading emotions, since she technically should not have them, even isntinctually, if that knowledge is forgotten.

Being a Reaper he take's in energy from all around leaving a creator the size of a mountain. The intense energy put serious stress on his body and shreds the muscle the energy is being channeled to. In any case the limbs has increased speed and strength(Speed=2/Strength=3), but it's too much for the body to handle which is why it could be used only once per battle and leaves Escher with one/forth of his energy. The impact is followed but a small short range explosion with in turns hurts Escher as well. This is why the move is named "Coup De Grace" or "Blow Or Mercy" in English Skills: N/A Rp Sample: Escher was on the verge of losing. Man something was wrong with him, he was on some what of a losing streak for a while. As far as he knew this was hurting his rep and even making him not fit for his position as Jiaum knight and his nickname of Army of One. The reaper and mind blader stood after catching his breath while taking a knee. He had previously used the risen technique and held forth multiple mind blades. He stared his opponent down, watching the latter for any sudden movements. Escher slowly raised his arms and held them out stretched towards his opponent. The ground started to rumble and Escher started to glow in energy. He energy started to build and engulf his arm with the gauntlet on it. The ground gave away and as a Reaper, he started to take extra energy from the ground and things around him. That is how the creator was being formed. Escher Gauntlet arm was now glowing immensely. His black energy was darker than night and was purely concentrated. So much so, that it started to eat away at the part of his arm that wasn't his gauntlet, tearing muscle and sending unbearable pain in his arm. Escher let out a scream as the energy started to peak. He felt the power of this technique through all the pain. All the while he hadn't taking his eye off his opponent. He flapped his wings once and flew towards his opponent. "Coup De Grace!!" He said striking his opponent and upon striking him all the gather energy was released and sent the two flying in opposite directions. Escher felt as though he did a pretty good job. He felt sleeps embrace and though he deserved a good rest, after all he was out of energy anyways. He closed his tired eyes and drifted away towards the dream world. (sorry that seemed all over the place.) This is not getting approved with the range of a mountain. Not only is that monstrously big, but it's incredibly vague allowing you to define the size however you'd like. On top of that, there is no post count required to gather all this energy. You really need to review and balance this talent if you want it passed. Give it a definitive range no greater than 500 feet, and require a number of posts for the energy to build before the talent can be used. And for the record, no character is meant to be an Army of One anymore. This is why we are taking the time to regulate and propose revisions to people's customs. There's nothing wrong with having the nickname, but that doesn't mean it's true.

Good to see you back 3nodding . I hope you're feeling better now and that you aren't coming on even though you're still sick? Alright, I'm tackling things out of order because it's easier for me. I hope it doesn't trouble you too much sweatdrop . I see your point about reading emotions. If that's the case, then could I start out without any such abilities and then have it progress to the point where Nix is capable of reading other people's actions? For instance, at first she completely sucks, even more than the average person, at reading others because she has no memory of interacting with others. Then, as she ranks up, she progresses to the average amount one human can read from another human before peaking at the point that I demonstrated in my rp sample and described in my talent. Would that work? Or is that still a no? I figured that at least perceptiveness could be something that could be kept without memories. Then, from there, I'd just build up the experience to use that perceptiveness. As for hearing. Obviously, Nai wouldn't wear earplugs while fighting. However, wouldn't most of her bullets be shot while training? During which she will be likely to wear ear plugs? I understand that even just using guns in a battle could likely ruin hearing, so I won't try to argue for enhanced hearing, but… I really don't want to have weaker hearing of all things…. Is there no other weakness(s) I could have instead? For instance, maybe being harder to wake up than average, making her even more helpless while asleep? I'll take out ear durability.
