Thanks Celestine! Yours too, I really want that Skelekitty hehe, Ruined Souls is on my wishlist for one day. smile

Bit of a weird day yesterday. I had a job interview and it went really well. It's for personal care for a disabled guy who has partial movement, in his own home. I think it went really well, despite my being a bit nervous.

He even said he thought it was between me and another older lady to get the role. Either way he will call/e-mail me this coming Tues or Weds to let me know... I really want this job. I'm sick of being taken advantage of by my current employers, but that's another story...

David and his mum took and picked me up from the interview - and when we got back to the flat there were loads of policemen and forensic guys in white suits about. There was either a suicide or homicide in the flat directly below us, but the police reassured us that we were quite safe (I'm assuming any danger had passed/the person apprehended/taken away.) We still don't know exactly what happened and would like to know.

Such an odd kind of day yesterday...

I hope you all have been keeping well. xxx

You definitely had a drama-filled day. I totally understand about the work situation. Working for people who don't care about their employees is absolute rubbish. My mom has the same problem. I hope you do get this job so you can be more at peace in your working life. You shouldn't have to go into work dreading being there because you know how badly you'll be treated.

I'm glad you are safe and sound. Not much crazy stuff happens around this town. Most exciting thing is when the fire alarm at the manor goes off and you watch all these old people slooooooowly trickle out of the building. The Fire Marshall said long ago that place would be engulfed in 2 minutes or less if it really did catch fire. They had to get tough with the residents and make them understand that if they refused to leave the building, even during a drill, they can get arrested. I'm not sure if this new manager is aware of all of this or not.

Thanks Celestine, me too. I worked out that if this guy were to hire me I would only need to work 2 night shifts a week (that would be 24hrs) at my current job to earn what I am doing a full 42 hour week. If I don't get it I know I am just going to be crushed, but I can't help it. sad

I think Managers should at least spend one week working as one of the "lower" (I can't think how else to say it - not meaning offense to anybody, afterall I am one of these people!!) employees to see how they work. Then they would know what it is like for us.

What does your mum do?

Funny you should mention the bosses coming in to work with the employees to see what all they have to go through. After a year and a half at this place, the boss finally sent the head of housekeeping in to observe mom on her shift. It has helped a whole lot, and she is now able to get everything done on time and be out by the proper time. She works as the (only) graveyard shift person at a facility for the mentally handicapped. It isn't easy because it is all male residents and many have negative views on female authority figures. She has to take care of laundry and do rounds to check on the residents and get certain ones up to the bathroom who are on a training program. This past year and a half has been miserable for her because all people wanted to do was complain about her. The owner of this place is an absolute incompetent jerk, and that is as nicely as I can put it.

Luckily, I'm not the boss, otherwise, the place would go out of business. Anyways, my boss works with us too. He works with us often.

I'm sorry about that and I hope your mum can find someplace better to work soon.. Is she looking elsewhere?

And OMG you guys one of my fave singers is just down the road from me. KATY B! And I passed *possibly* her bus when I was walking Monty and I didn't realise they were hers!

Here's a really cute live performance of her best known song "Katy On A Mission" with a bit of "Lights On" at the end:

And a lovely version of her song "Perfect Stranger", a mix of classical instruments over a drum and bass kinda beat:

Yes, she is trying to look for other work, but with her working the graveyard shift, it makes things difficult because she has to come home and sleep all day. The only time she really has is every other weekend when she has her time off, but Saturdays when she comes home get wasted because she's so tired from work the night before. I just wish she could find a regular job in town so she wouldn't have to risk driving out of town in bad weather. It really worries me during the winter. I'm still looking for work too. Places around town are hiring their seasonal holiday help right now, so I need to get out there and try to turn in apps/resumes at as many placed as I can.

Wow, you live close to a celebrity? Ish, jealous. xd Some people have all the luck.

Oh sure, they fixed the lack of formatting options in the guilds and forums after their site centering snafoo, but now the menus have gone wonky. Can't they ever do something without breaking something else?

OK, soapbox time.

Celes is miffed. Ya know why? Gaia can't get it's prices straight! They have a second gen Wisteria in the cash shop for 499 GC, BUT THE THIRD GEN RUNCIBLE SPOON IS 999GC! What the heck is with the stupid inconsistencies here?!?! Runcible Spoon and Wisteria are both Rapid EIs, so why should one cost more that the other? It makes not frapping sense at all. And I *had* half a mind to buy Runcible Spoon, but forget it! I'm not paying more for it than they want for Wisteria, and I hardly use that item after I had it given to me.

I'll just save my hard-earned pittance of GC until just before the next cash shop purge, then I'll get Firefly's Flame and Deen's Potion, and be done with it.

Since I'm on a rant here, I think their REIs have been rather dull lately too. It's always pink this and Kawaii that. Either that or some stupid gory REI from that one artist who's name escapes me at the moment. They need a good scifi REI of full EI for people like me and Yuusha. AND NO MORE PINK! emotion_donotwant

Whoo, soapyboxes! (Don't mind me, I'm trying to de-stuff this FRIGGIN' STUFFED NOSE. It's like someone's sitting on my face.*inb4 someone does a sex joke*

Well, to be honest, the Runcible Spoon "sale" was before the Wisteria "sale". Granted, THEY FINALLY GOT THE WISTERIA SALE RIGHT. BASTARDS.

And Cel, I know exactly how you feel about the Spoon. I can't remember if I told you this already, but I was going to buy another Dark Heart for the flash sale... until I went to the CS and found out that it was ten bucks instead of what I got for it when it was first in the CS (499GC). I said, "Nope!" and left. (Ami LAUGHED at this.)

Yeah, I don't hate pink, but there *is* a pink overload. C'mon, shops! How 'bout some white or black or purple... OR RED? I'll take red!

Hey, if the REIs are dull, then more cash saved for me until I find something that I wanna buy! (Hooray for being Sissy McScrooge!)

Blame the users. I kid you not it's all based on the Marketplace prices. In last night's AtA one of the staff members who announce flash sales in the Staff Notices thread said that the reason they price those items like that is because they're too concerned about devaluing the prices of the items in question. They look at the marketplace prices for the items they're planning on selling again and if they're going for a very high market price then they price them like they do. So the only way for this to end is for the users to not wig out every time an item is released again and let the dang things depreciate in value.

And Cel, I know exactly how you feel about the Spoon.

rofl This line cracked me up so much! xd

The way I see it, if people quit buying stuff form the flash sales, maybe people will start getting the hint and quit bothering. *See the post where Chibi quoted me*
