Sucess!

His knees shook, he felt so-- so-- weak. His teeth clenched, his little jaw tightening, fastening as if this was the only thing keeping him up.

He couldn't understand this...

No, it made sense, he just couldn't believe it.

The cardio exercises with his father was so often, and he was very often active. His health couldn't degrade so much~ Was it just the degree of training? A thought slowly crept into his mind.

Was his anatomy below-average. He'd need to ask later-- that or he was getting quite lazy, which was an unacceptable state of mind. The greatest shinobi never did this, they were headstrong and great leader. History wouldn't remember him so if he kept this pointless mind-set.

A noise escaped his mouth as his pushed his ox sign further, his newborn chakra forcing to move...

'Satisfactory... now focus.. calm down.. see everything as it is..", his jade eyes opened, glinting with a fierce harmony. 'Just like before... I'm improving, if only a little bit'

He looked down to his ox sign. So many ninja before him did this... his mind wandered. He couldn't help it.

He was so thankful.. but-- but why did the Hokage choose to take him under his wing. He wasn't special.. he wasn't of Yokou-sama's birth-right. He wasn't a famed Uchiha-- he wasn't even of these noble birth...

The reluctant Senju didn't strike him as one of those people. These clan traditions were hardly important to him. He couldn't be sure, however. These were childish assumptions, backed by informed hypothesis at best.

He also took into account his own age and experience..

His mind wandered...

The boy had to ask later.. it couldn't be helped. Plus... strong relationships started somewhere...

Thus, if you rolled a 15, and is in danger of falling into -1 Cp (meaning you will faint until Zephyr revives your character somehow by either transferring chakra or throwing cold water, etc.), then you do the Chakra Control check. If you succeed, you manage to reach 0, but it does not count towards the success of this activity. ***Rest when necessary. You will regain +1 Cp for every resting post, four completed lines minimum. Keep note that in resting posts you cannot do anything else, or any other checks, BUT rest. Shirayuki Kaede - Academy Student

Theme: Não Chora Menina

LV. 2 | Experience: 44/110 | Hp: 16/16 | Cp: 6/6 | MHp: 24/24

Kaede made a grimace. No, it wasn't because she was offended by his laughter... "Se-sempai, even if it i-isn't about blood... I have a v-very ugly heart. A princess w-wouldn't be so cl-clingy... or think selfish things about h-her friends or f-father. If anyone here i-is more qualified to be a 'pr-princess', it'd b-be you, Semp-pai."

The girl nodded her head, firm in her conviction. It never occurred to her that her praise might be translated as an insult. Because he reminded her of a song her father would sing to put her to sleep, back when he had the time to spare... He told her he learned it from his matron, when she would sing for the orphans.

"'S-s-omeday you'll know
Life a-always has a r-reason
And even s-s-sadness is worth something

What puts t-t-tears on your face
Is the k-kindness in your h-heart...'
" She was too embarrassed to try singing the song, not like her father who didn't give a damn that he was tone deaf. Though she was singing in her mind, Kaede preferred to recite the lyrics out loud like a poem.

"That's y-you, Sempai. B-because you are em-empathetic, you can f-feel... for someone you d-don't know. You c-can say a lot of thoughtful th-things, that I wouldn't e-even think of. You h-have a much better grasp o-on the human heart than I d-do..."

At least, that was her current impression of Sempai in their first meeting. And it would provide some sort of explanation for the sad and distant expressions he often made. You couldn't say those kinds of poetic words of wisdom, like about ceremonies or drinking, without looking underneath what's underneath... because he was a real shinobi. And she...

"N-no. I'm not here t-to take the exams myself y-yet... "

She couldn't make Hyuuga-san's beautiful distant cousin - hrm... she was more of a "Hyuuga-sama" - go do a task for someone like her? Absolutely not. And if she did that, it might hinger the exam participant's progression. Perhaps she should just omit any personal opinion of the exams and tell ...S-senju-san that she completed her Henge no Jutsu training. That wouldn't exactly be lying...

"Uhm... you would r-really bother S-sempai? B-but your student..."

Kaede glanced at the boy and realized he was already being tended to by Hyuuga-sama. He must be very talented if he was being mentored by Sempai and Hyuuga-sama... possibly from a very respectable family, like Hyuuga-san.

"... well th-then, I-I'm having uhm, trouble molding my ch-chakra in alignment w-with the image I want. Actually... I'm not s-sure what image I want r-right now."

Saito looked back to Kaede, his beautiful jade eyes looked at her, almost seeing right through her. This boy's eyes were so firm and filled with so much command...

He blinked, bowing his head for a moment, as if to acknowledge her. He heard her.. but was it worth replying.. to part his lips and possibly waste more of his time burning out. No. He could do both; later. Zephyr was kind and so powerful, his Will of Fire was so respectable. He needed to look up to this man.

He sighed a bit, breathing out. These burn-outs were truly taking a toll on his young body. He waved a bit, the most his weak arms would allow. He'd make sure to talk to her later. The Yakedo's eyes focused now on Yokou. Let's just focus on getting some of this chakra back.

His chest slowly expanded, taking in a deep breath. Regulate.. regulate Saito-kun.

The boy blinked, thinking, focusing on this task at hand once more. He'd need to try and keep this like it was before. It would be rather pointless if he just passes out again. Saito's breathing became regular.

Your destiny is not yet set in stone.
O infant generation...

User ImageHp: 1650 | Cp: 2738 | MHp: 1650

"There now." She said, soothingly, to the boy. "It's a difficult task to master." But then, Yokou looked to him, rather contemplatively. "But I am surprised Sensei would give it so..." At then, she hesitated. Was - that - then, the reason? It would make sense, if Sensei had only done so because there was no other choice. But, if Saito battled this evil early now, and master it, then, later when he returns to the actual Jutsus, he would be fine.

"If you can master this, all Jutsus that flows from chakra will come easily." She assured. And then, she gave another clue. "You start from the center, the abdomen - the main source of chakra - but it is from there you branch outwards, like the infant seedling blooming into a youthful tree. It scatters its branches proudly, yet each branch is linked by its intricate capillaries, all part of one system...so must you extend control from where it would be most stable - from the center - to the furthest reaches of the chakra system..."

"It's a lot like your body's blood flow. Except the chakra system is entwined with your organs. Organs don't just produce chakra, they regulate it too. So when you regulate your chakra, think of using the whole body, and from there, you will find control." After all, when it came down to it...this was truly an activity even mentors could only give limited aid.

It is one of the few things that only experience can describe, but because of the natures of her line and her Sensei's, as well as the sort of Students Zephyr had taught, Saito did have the fortune to receive as accurate possible information, because this team was in great-depth observed by the High Council on their considerable strengths in chakra, and the behavior of chakra recorded by their own research, in the days she was once Genin.

He'll understand.

Saito was a smart boy, he will be fine.

Yokou: +6 to Saito's next roll for encouragement

Tairu made his way back to where he had last seen Zephyr and Yokou-sama. I truly hope that he will be able to aid us in any way possible. Tairu walked back into the clearing that was the training grounds. Is he still here? Thought for a second as he didn't immediately see zephyr. Then Tairu spotted him and quickly ran over to him. "Zephyr-san, I need to talk to you, it's really important." Tairu said quietly hoping that the proctor couldn't hear him. It was important that Tairu got his answer and returned quickly because if his plan didn't work out, time could be against them. I must have faith, I must have faith and it will all work out. Tairu told himself as he tried to remain calm.

"Like a nervous system of sorts. In deeper meaning, I would assume our organs transfer chakra and allow it to circulate and even out before leaving our body. I'm not Hyuuga, so I suppose I have it rather novice not having to produce chakra from my pores...", he noted in usual eloquent and confident voice, looking his fixed ox-sign.

This was beginning to finally make some sense. First, the boy wasn't doing what the queen asked, he was attempting to flush it out, push it. The chakra in a way was shouting and screaming instead of singing. It was bursting... not flowing.

Hmm. It wouldn't be too smart to go around using all of it like he was before. However, too little wouldn't make an effect or take too long and not get him anywhere.

She had so much knowledge. The text books he'd read so religiously were so obselete to the field knowledge and experience these great shinobi had attained.

For once in speck of his life, a bright smile came upon him. Maybe his mother knew one day he'd be the eyes that witnessed and walked with these great ninja-- these giants. If he was to be a protector, certainly, he'd see these. One day... if he runs out of stories to teach his children, he could say he witnessed such history.

He tread with the White Tiger of Konohagakure no Soto.

His organs began to regulate his chakra. He was passing it in his body, letting his organs pass it, letting it even out before it left. Hopefully he wasn't going to pass out this time...

The young student calmly allowed his chakra to steadily leave. More and more left as his knees quivered. It was so painful...

A single sweat drops escaped his profile as his focused eyes blinked. This was working-- STOP!

That feeling came, however, he realized it quite quickly. Even a second more and his body would've given out. He slowly fell to his knees, making sure not to get fatigued.

You're getting there Saito-kun...

Saito's pulse was racing. He was really close that time. Had he been as reckless as before not using Yokou's advice, he would've completely over shot it. He was really getting it... hopefully another try should confirm his belief.

The boy's little palms came together. This had really made him dirty. His traditional robes were in pieces. He had really worn them out..

He closed his eyes, noting the warmth they brought back to his heart. His mother had sewn it for her. She was always good, always making him something. He would miss that about her-- there was so much love in his life. Love that couldn't be forgotten.

His dad was no different. His father gave his life to being a great husband and a father. His father was loving, funny-- and as he started to thinking-- quite talented. He'd have to see. He hadn't heard much about his father-- rather he never really asked.

He suspected his father went on S-ranked missions. This almost crushed him for a moment. What if he never... NO. He would. He always did.

The boy's stream of consciousness stopped as he filled his chakra up some. Sufficient enough at another try, hopefully~

He shook to his knees, groaning subconsciously. Almost there Saito... almost. He formed the ox sign again, looking up at Yokou.

"Thank-you for your patience madam..", he mentioned admiringly.

He took me from the labs, and gave me a name.
..."I will call you Zephyr, and you will be as free as the wind"...

User ImageHp: 1210 | Cp: 3250 | MHp: 1200
Theme Song: Scottish Moors - Seventh Child of the Seventh Child

A princess, of all things? Really? What part of him was princess-like...wait. That. He been told he looked after his father, who took after his grandmother...and how the hell that senile old man managed to marry such a pretty lady, even he with all his intellect never quite comprehended. But Zephyr had softer features than his father, because of his mother...

He raised an eyebrow, but then the girl probably did not realize her slip, and so he mockingly feigned insult. He wasn't angry, no, but-... "Hey! I didn't pick to look this-..." But the protest fell silent on his lips, and he stopped, as she opened her mouth. Senju Zephyr might not have been one for overly formal etiquette, but he did respect when others spoke. And since she would, he would listen.

It was what courtesy he could-...

But it was not words that left her lips, but a song.

...a...lullaby...?

A soft and gentle song, even while her voice trembled. Laughing would not have been appropriate hence then, in fact, it would've been rude...but he did not do so, anyways, for he reassured her all perfectly seriously, and in all honesty:

"It's lovely."

She had a quiet voice, trembling in her nervousness, but her voice wasn't bad. In fact, it was quite pretty if refined - different from the melancholic beauty of Yokou's, but it held its own beauty nonetheless. Strange child, strange child...she does not realize she had a gift right in her palms all the time. But, he shudder to imagine Kaede on a stage performing. Why, the poor girl will have a heart attack! What Kaede needed to overcome, was her own uncertainty...but that was all right. Time would do that, and besides...

The meek girl before him would no longer be the same, if she wasn't who she was, right? She would learn, in time, but until then, it was fine...fine to deceive her for a little longer, and keep her dreaming of an innocent world while she still can. For shinobi whom sees death so often with their eyes...what foolishness, all this concept of this, this caste system of sorts.

He loved the Medical Order...because it was most honest. Even while he was with unclean hands...and the girl. She spoke the truth...even if it was a lie, even if it was...but IF it was allowing someone else to stay with their beloved people for a little longer, to smile, to laugh...

Then maybe...

...he didn't think the girl would be well-suited for battle. But he does not tell her that, she would find on her own...how cruel kindness could be, and how harsh, of gentleness... For now, it was all an innocent box-garden dream, and so, he'll play along.

But...

...but just maybe, the play was more real.

He hoped so.

"It's simple, actually." Explained Zephyr to Kaede. "You think Henge too much in Ninjutsu terms of workings. It's a classified Ninjutsu, that much is true, but its workings are more similar to Genjutsu." He paused slightly.

"Genjutsu follows chakra release to invade the opponent's own systems to induce false delusions to the senses. Henge is similar, only that you do not direct your chakra into another, but surround your body with it. The image you want...you don't really turn that height, weight, nor does your sound change...it's all optical and auditory illusions. Then it merely comes down to gaining experience in chakra control to mold how you want the refraction of light particles to veil your real self goes...you bend the light waves, making them forcibly shorter (Henge image=taller) or longer (Henge image=shorter), and thus conveying that sense to the viewing eyes...it's similar for the bending of sound too, in masking voice."

"Of course...the closer you keep the chakra layer to your body, the more refined it is, the better you will be able to hold it even when attacked. As for deceiving the sense of touch, Henge retains that basic quality of Genjutsu. When another comes in contact with the chakra layer around your body, your chakra is acting as a medium to interfere with the normal messages conveyed by nerve cells to the brain. And so, one would believe you really to have shifted in weight, when you would've not." A pause. "So Henge is really three parts: light, sound, and sensory manipulation."

"So it isn't really about molding chakra in alignment to form an image. What's being changed isn't your chakra, your chakra will be doing the changing of how the light around your body will refract. Hmn...if you are having trouble with molding, that's a more serious problem...I'm afraid control will only come with practice, but there are steps you can take. Why don't you try holding a seal, while molding...?" But he smiled, assuringly to her.

If he explained now, she would not understand as vague a metaphysical thing as chakra.

"It isn't as pertinent now, but later...chakra will form the root of all Jutsus that flows from it. So...you should really ask Yuuko there at some time...she'll be able to show you secrets of chakra that otherwise will be harder to really explain or show. The Hyuuga clan collects many prize documents on such, as this field of research is their specialty." Here he paused. "It's a fascinating topic really, and since you have never seen it, a definite starting point before really seriously considering Jutsu fields."

An elegant eyebrow arched, as he surveyed the child.

"...I doubt you'll be going into Taijutsu...and if utilizing chakra will become seriously important...so..." He gestured at Yokou's direction. "Don't be afraid to ask. Yuuko never turns down someone who needs help...and really." Here, a nervous laugh. "My family's writings would probably confuse you more...we...we take a little too for granted our naturally strong affinity for chakra control..."

"In the meantime, why not try the Henge?"

...

Someone called his name, and he looked the way of the speaker, surprised to find Tairu there. "What is it, Tairu-kun? Were you not heading off for your practical?"

Shirayuki Kaede - Academy Student

Theme: Não Chora Menina

LV. 2 | Experience: 44/110 | Hp: 16/16 | Cp: 6/6 | MHp: 24/24

The girl flushed at the compliment she received, and said nothing. She didn't think it was that impressive, and it was quite a simple song really. Only one scale of notes to work with...

But whereas with the Henge no Jutsu... Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait... too much information! Where S-senju-san gave ambiguous answers, Sempai's were more specific, and lengthy. Either Sempai spoke too quickly or her mind worked too slowly in trying to take in the information and hear it at the same time. She had to go get a pencil and a notepad to write all of this down for future reference, since the girl had a somewhat poor memory. And ugh, she didn't have anything on her person. She must have forgot to bring them. What kind of student comes to class without a writing utensil and paper!? An unprepared student. 'Shirayuki, you're not just a delinquent student, but a poor one too.'

Okay, genjutsu. Chakra layer. Surround body. Illusions. Uhm. Uhm... light, sound, sensory...

Anything else the girl tried to retain slipped off her radar when she noticed someone approaching them.

"I-is there something wrong... H-hyuuga-san?"

Kaede was glad to see her sempai again, yet it seemed rather urgent. Was it exam-related stress? It was reasonable, since she was quite prone to it just a while ago without even participating in it. Yet this was Hyuuga-san. He would pass for sure... The girl was torn between offering her very limited assistance and resuming her Henge no Jutsu training. Kaede really, really didn't want to get back on Tai... S-senju-san's bad side.. No wait, if it was Sempai he was going to request assistance from, then clearly he'd be more helpful than someone useless like herself.

"Uhm... n-never mind. Th-thank you... Sempai excuse me," Kaede bowed her head and walked away from them.

No, while it would be helpful to, she didn't want to have Hyuuga-sama divide her attention between Sempai's student and herself. She would try to do this alone, since what Sempai had said was somewhat helpful. And interesting. Theory, while it helped understanding, it would not be the force that controlled her chakra flow. Merely a catalyst.

Genjutsu.
Chakra layer.
Surround body.
Illusions.
Light, sound, sensory...

For the longest time the boy stared at his ox sign. Just one more time... the boy quietly said. His chakra once against started grinding, churning.

Once again the boy felt the pain of his chakra leaving. Good, progress was all that this told him. He was almost done.

The boy's eyes wandered to the his peer, by his mentor. She was also working on her skill. She would be part of his class then, he deduced. Hopefully she wouldn't become his Genin partner. Gah. He didn't want such a girl in his four-man cell.

Be polite. She had just performed the jutsu rather well, and she was better than him. How elitist of him. He was slipping. Arrogance cost people their lives.

His eyes glinted as he faced forward. Let's see how far this all goes. He let his chakra flow out once more.

Gah!

The boy suddenly shook in sheer pain, no! Not again! He missed it just by that much!!!!

His body started falling like it did once before. He kept his seal. He might be able to save himself!

Restricted Chakra Burn-Out Description:
The teacher has the students keep burning their chakra to build up more chakra stamina. They must hit exactly 0 to finish the training successfully. If they went into the negatives, the student would pass out and would have to be revived by their teacher (chakra transfer only revives, does not give chakra to students...or the traditional icy water) and students then must rest until their Cp is recovered. Formula: 1d20 + Chakra mod. DC: Every interval of 5 in whatever the result of your formula equates to -1 Cp. But as Zephyr notes, chakra control is very important. Getting into the negatives is very dangerous, and can actually kill people. So, if you fail to perfectly get your Cp to 0 (in this case, since you have no chakra mod. that means if and only if your dice roll is a 15 or 20, to which it will be a -3 (for a dice roll of 15) or a -4 Cp (for a dice roll of 20) respectively) then you must do this each time you are in danger of falling into negative Cp: DC: 12 Formula: 1d20 + Chakra Control **If and only if you succeed that second check, will your Cp reach perfectly 0. Note that you can only count a success if you reach 0 normally, without doing this chakra control regulation section. Special Note (important!): This means Zephyr's bonus in this case will actually SUBTRACT from your dice roll rather than add to it, from giving advice on regulating to prevent you from dangerously depleting your chakra. Train: 4/5

Sucess!

He was falling, everything was becoming darker. All he could hear was his heart beating violently.

Come on... he had to have some control on himself. He looked up to Yokou, she must really be laughing. Even he knew when he was mistaken.

The boy focused the best he could as he was falling, his eyes quietly losing his shine. Gah...

He fell to his knees, his hands stopping his fall. He laughed a bit, sweat slowly dripping. His body was shaking as he closed his eyes, he didn't pass out...

Good, good Saito. Now get over it and improve. He slowly sat up and moved his hands together.

He started breathing slowly, closing his eyes. He wondered how Zephyr first did it. Maybe even he had this much trouble. No-- He knew Zephyr was quite talented, much more than him.

He blinked, slowly turning his head to see the man talking to Kaede. She was rather pretty though-- but he couldn't imagine her being a taijutsu expert, per se.

Kaede-- from what he'd seen from her. Goodness, all he could say, he wanted to get to know her. He decided, he shouldn't judge her so harshly. She had to have some sort of resolve. He wondered what family she was from, judging by her clothing and her posture, she wasn't noble. Was she of a birth-right? He knew he wasn't, but many great ninja in history weren't and went on to become genius warriors.

He'd respect this girl unless she'd proven him wrong. The boy generally didn't get along with kids his age. They were always squabbling over childisn things, but then Shinobi were forced to mature before they were supposed to.

Saito glanced back down, he needed to become stronger himself. He slowly started breathing, letting his body recover. It's a wonder he didn't get sick from so much pushing.

He looked up to Yokou-sama. He really wanted to get to know these ninja. The more he looked around, the mored he noticed... these all had a story to tell. His mother's tragedy was just another story. He knew some of them had been through worse. Yokou-sama.. what about her. What had she seen in her years?

He slowly moves to his feet, falling suddenly, sighing. Gah. Why is it not listening. Stop being a failure.

He stared at the ground for a moment before clenching his teeth and using his hands to stand-up straight. He brought his hands together, making the tiger sign. He winced in sheer pain, his fingers were so brittle and weak, this was terrible. He needed to start working out more often. He wondered what kind of routines Zephyr did.

He looked down at his seal, and slowly brought it to his face and slowly a few tears appeared on his face. His body was being so disobedient.

His chakra started churning, he was forcing himself to run only on cheer will. This was rather destructive, it didn't matter though.

His body was slowly falling. He clenched his fists, and punched the ground in reaction, effectively keeping himself up. He slowly stood up once more. No. No, he was almost done. Prove to me that we can do this.

Saito stared quietly at the ground; his vision was blurring and slowly darkening. No! He was quite appalled. He looked at the tiger symbol. He smiled once more, he can do this. He looked to Kaede, she performed that Henge. He could succeed too. Saito closed his eyes, focusing. He clenched his teeth, his chakra started churning.

‘Tell you what. If you don’t fail me, I might just rest.’, he joked to himself in a rather dry manner. He didn’t see the point in quiting. His body could rest after he did this. Hmph. He couldn’t get lazy.

His chakra suddenly gave one burst before he started violently coughing, falling on his knees. He did it again.. good. Good enough. /decent/ enough.

He stared at the ground, his eyes widening as he looked for breath. He'd almost passed out, his body fell from this release. He did well though...

His hands quivered under his body to the point where he felt like just laying down. Yeah, thats showing dignity.

He couldn't help but be proud of himself, he'd over his chakra problems..
