Tenma found she had to mentally slap herself to keep her jaw from dropping. This proctor was apparently testing the students with a design of his own folly, which also made him a touch of a psychopath. However, Tenma found a small residual amount of respect for the man, becoming a shinobi wasn’t all about fighting. There wasn’t a doubt in the female’s mind that this would eventually come up in later times. Then again, another thing that concerned her, only one of them would pass. She had a friendly appreciation for Rhiam and didn’t want to see him left behind, but she wasn’t about to let anyone come in the way of her dreams. Glancing over at her past training partner the girl inclined her head in a friendly gesture and headed off to gather the information she would eventually need. Though she wasn’t about to turn this into a footrace, though Tenma would gladly compete as well if that is what it came down to, her pace through the forest was swift. Her mind swirled with the weight of the task as she began to ponder what this man was up to. His name was Senju Taiju, that much she knew. Genin Exams

Hyuuga TairuHp: 60/60 l Cp: 45/45 l MHp: 55/55 l DB: 16 The big Senju got down in Tairu's face and looking into a mask was quite unnerving. The Senju apparently was fond of yelling and scarring people as Tairu soon discovered. Maybe it was his lineage but Tairu saw through the Senju's scare tactics. Wait, all he has done is try to scare us, than maybe...
he.. was lying when he said only one would pass in order to scare us? Either way I should still focus on victory. Tairu looked at Tenma and Rhaim, he didn't know anything about Tenma but he knew that Rhaim was incredibly strong, the guy had simply allowed Tairu to hit him when they had started the taijutsu training. My only chance is to get to the statue first, lift it of one of the other two, or uncover a loop in hole in the rules. Tairu thought. Knowing that his charisma was awful and his ability to get information out of people was even worse Tairu knew he had to take the research option. All the options that Tairu had come up with would require research any way. With that Tairu decided to head to the library. [exit to library] Genin Exams

"Take it. You cry much, I think you'll find better use of it." Said Zephyr. "My old lady wove it, for her first and only child...but in the end, I didn't become the person she wished for." Here, he laughed, but it was a little sad. "I never met her, anyhow...but they told me, she would've been...that she would've been smiling, anyways...even...though..."
Even while she washed his hands clean with tears, too.
But his voice drifted off.
"Bah. Enough of that." He said, an almost-cheerful attempt, to lighten the heavy mood. "It can't be helped, can it now..." He looked at the ground. "If people live, then people die, too...heh." Here he looked somewhat thoughtful, almost wondering. "They say she was a good medic-nin in her day...I think..." A soft pause. "I learned fighting first. But I think I like the medical arts better...it's nice, you know...? To pretend even for a moment...that humans can really save."
To pretend that humans could really preserve that precious thing called life.
"...Shirayuki?"
He shuffled through memories.
Shirayuki, Shirayuki...
He thought hard, until remembering...oh!
That person?
But Shirayuki Yamato wasn't the garbage man back...at least not twenty-five long years ago, when the Juudaime Hyuuga Rasen first took him back to Konoha...when he left ten years ago, he was pretty all right off too... But that person was a kind person, and...and...while most of the villagers opposed the Hyuuga Hokage bringing in a blood-stained child from the hated (yet ironically too beloved) line.
Even though his father had been murdered by the villagers in the year prior to when Hyuuga Rasen finally found him, in the outskirts of Oto...his father killed for...for...for the former Lord Senju's association with the Fifth Dawn...
...
All for the sake of having a child with his beloved wife, whereas else it would've been impossible...because Senju Haruka was barren.
"He was a kind person." Replied Zephyr, with a small smile. "I first met him when I was ten years old...I didn't...ah...live in the village before then. My Master, the former Juudaime Hokage, brought me back with him." There was a slight pause. "Haha, he rubbed my head and called me a...a beansprout..." Here, he huffed. "Well, the sprout's taller now."
As she spoke again, he looked at her rather curiously, but noticing how so she stared at Tairu and Yokou, he answered: "Yuuko's my Student. Well, was. That'll be years and years ago..." But here, Kaede will probably find his words strange...sure, Yokou looked young, in her twenties perhaps...but Zephyr seemed to be merely in his late teens! As the usual, however, not noticing, he continued smoothly.
"Mn...I'm not sure the exact number but I believe Yuuko will be Tairu-kun's fourth cousin, thrice removed... But he's family, and he invited her to come, so, she comes. Me...?" Here, he glanced at Saito. But he did give the other an assignment, so it wasn't exactly that...
"I..." He began, hesitantly.
"I don't know." He admitted, at last. "I never attended the Academy, I-..." But his darkly emerald eyes tinged here and there with flecks of gold widened, and he covered his mouth almost as in horror. Too much, he spoke too much. Almost let the girl find out that since the day he stepped into the village, the Elders personally tested him and deemed the child apt enough for ANBU work.
He had made it to the Hunter-division, and even attained the captain's title, not so shortly before Rasen discharged him and greatly unhappy, the concerned Juudaime ordered Zephyr to teach three new graduates of that year's Academy semester. His shinobi career, from the start...no, even further back, from the very beginning... Taught to kill, from as long as he had first been able to stand on his own, that despite how cleaner and more refined the methods got, could never, never, erase the filthy blood that stained the soul...
Tainted, tainted, tainted.
Even Rasen was concerned the child he brought back - his best friend's son - would become a monster.
His Students saved him, in accordance to the Juudaime's wish.
The girl was pure, but his hands were tainted.
A monstrosity it was, to his mother's memory, thinking that he could what her hands could, and truly save...
But.
But-...
He had left in Yuuko's hands a dream, to his Students a dream, and that dream brought her to pieces and broke the team. Yet...why did she still hold on so fiercely to that...? And too she made much more of the medical arts he taught her, making a name for herself on the shinobi field that defied - defied - defied her clan, the name she bore, for the sake of hoping to save just one more life, and to save one more smile...
He looked to Saito.
Was it really all right, to believe again...?
He had entrusted to Yokou's hands - no, all his Students - a dream.
...that left them in pieces.
They had kept him human, but at a terrible price.Rank: Hokage | Position: Head of Clan, Senju Royal Family Title: White Tiger of KonohaThe old man is dead now...why do I still live his promise...? Saito huffed a bit, his eyes still closed as he continued to breathe easily. He suddenly opened his eyes, still on his knees. He had to get this chakra back quickly.
The boy glanced up to his sensei--
He was looking at him. Saito met his eyes. His glazed, weary yet innocent and shining eyes didn't waver. The boy's jade colored eyes were as commanding as ever in him. He smiled, happy. The hokage entrusted him with this title. He was Zephyr Senju's apprentice. The man told him he'd never fail, not when he was under him.
'I can't let him down...', he thought, his breathing slowly calming down. He felt himself at peace for a moment in the midst of the exciting day.

If you succeed, you manage to reach 0, but it does not count towards the success of this activity. ***Rest when necessary. You will regain +1 Cp for every resting post, four completed lines minimum. Keep note that in resting posts you cannot do anything else, or any other checks, BUT rest. Saito forced himself to his feet and lifted his arms up. He was actually feeling sore from this...
He chuckled to himself, making the ox sign again and promptly shut the jewels of his. The young Yakedo strained his body once more, he needed to get stronger! He needed to make his mother proud.
His annoying cough returned as his newly formed chakra started to leave him. He needed to sleep more or something, his body was not going to keep up with this shinobi training and it /certainly/ wasn't going to keep up with the training his master was giving him.
Or rather-- would hopefully give him. He didn't seem to teach much differently, but then-- how many ways were there to increase your chakra pool.
He suddenly stopped and coughed a bit harder, forcefully. This coughing was far too distracting.

Frustrated by this lack of progress, he brought his palms together, slapped them, seperated only an inch then formed the tiger seal.
His eyes widened as he clenched his teeth. Being a shinobi wasn't easy... but then he knew he would persevere. Saito felt his chakra escaping his body, he made sure his sign was strong.
Suddenly the thought of his mother at the bed entered his mind and he smirked, he had a lot of people to fight for.
He forced the chakra out of his body, his mother smiling upon him. He needed to better this weak body... It was like art... practice, all the years of the stuff he'd perfected, this was no different.
Little did the boy realize he had broken his body's limits. It all came down on him.
Saito suddenly falls on his knees. His body was going into shock, giving up for him. His eyes darted to Zephyr, Saito realized he went too far. "This won't happen a--", he managed.
Even while his body gave out, he stayed collective. Truly, Saito was something else.
Before passing out the ninja, held together his hands for one last attempt. This was the chakra control part... he needed to get this right..
He had bags under his eyes..

Chakra Control Sucess!
He didn't have too much control-- but if he had just enough-- just enough focus.
He shuddered in pain as his body tried giving out, but he held his sign. He did not want to pass out like failure. He was warned not to be stupid and he did just that. He ignored pain, it was a physical flaw most times. He wasn't going to die--
He had a life to live and save lives. One day he wanted to beat Zephyr and make him proud. Control the chakra, harness it, don't let it just run wild...
'Focus, calm down... stay awake..', he thought, his eyes closing as he broke the sign. He controlled his body, not the other way around.
He stared at the ground, his eyes getting wider as he felt his body shudder and jerk a bit. He forced his body to continue just now.
This showed the young Yakedo that he truly had a degree of control, but then, it could also be luck. He hoped it was skill, but then, he felt it was luck. It was illogical to give false hope.

LV. 2 | Experience: 44/110 | Hp: 16/16 | Cp: 6/6 | MHp: 24/24 "No, S-senju-sama..." Kaede shook her head firmly. "Th-that wasn't made f-for me... I c-can't accept it."
What Senju-sama said merely reinforced the beauty and the value behind that handkerchief, and her refusal to take it away from him. And in a way, it made sense why Senju-sama was beautiful, because the woman who made this cloth and this person before her obviously had imbued them with her love. The girl curled her hands into little fists. Partly so that he could not push the handkerchief back into her hands. Partly because Kaede was thinking of her own mother with her next words.
"At least sh-she had intended for y-you to be born. At least, sh-she would have w-wanted to see you, no matter wh-what you are. Because y-you're her... "
... what had her father once called her?
"... miracle, and th-there's only one of you. I can't r-replace you... I c-can't."
And while he sounded cheerful, his next words were utterly depressing. Because it rung true. Yet, it wasn't about saving...
"I-it isn't pretend. They r-really can..." Kaede insisted. "Y-you aren't h-halting s-someone death... you're g-giving s-someone more time to spend w-with their loved ones. I-I think so a-anyway."
But what would she know? She was just the Garbage Man's daughter. She was just an eleven year-old girl who could only imagine what death looked like. Actually, why was she even arguing with Senju-sama?
"..."
Maybe it was because he looked so sad. Because he had eyes like her her father, especially when he was drunk, depressing and older than they should be. Distant. Detached from the present. Away from her. Kaede would prefer it if Senju-sama was angry like he was before. More lively than he seemed now. More ideally, though, would be to see him smiling. Kind of like the smile he had when he was talking about her father... Wait, even her father had talked to a noble? Yes, from the way Senju-sama described him, it sounded like he did. And oh my goooood, he actually had the audacity to... to... It was a wonder her father hadn't died yet, with all the stupid things he's done. Yet Kaede was glad he hadn't. The girl wouldn't know what to do without him, even with her ugly feelings.
"Uhm, uhm... but i-if you're her s-sensei, would that m-make you ...o-old?"
So if that was his distant cousin, then what about Hyuuga-san's parents? They were probably too busy to go see him. That must be it. Kaede knew there was no way she could ask her father would go see her when it was her time. He hardly had time to walk with the girl to her first day at the academy. They were always barely keeping up with the rent.
And as for Hyuuga-san's distant cousin's sensei... In the child's mind, sensei were older than their students. Yet he didn't look it. So... Was he a lot older than she had thought him to be? Maybe he didn't have a little brother, but a son her age. Maybe aristocrats don't age as quickly as commoners do. Was he as old as her father? Or perhaps Senju-sama didn't look it because he had a henge on right now. He was a shinobi after all. How can she distinguish a henge? That was a question the girl was itching to ask Senju-san now. But he might come up with another irritatingly ambiguous answer, and he was too busy running the exams. And if Senju-sama had a henge on right now, it was very convincing.
"B-but from the looks of i-it S-senju-sama, you have what it t-takes to pass the genin e-exams."
Maybe he already took them, if he was mentoring his pupil. But why else would he want to attend the academy then? Oh, Senju clansmen were so confusing... And after looking at what this year's graduates test, Kaede wasn't so sure she had what it took to pass it on her first try. Even if she had a year head start. Perhaps she would have to go through ten exams before the girl could qualify as a shinobi. By then, Sasaki-san, Masato-san, and Hyuuga-san will have already pupils of their own, just like Senju-sama. The girl frowned.
When Kaede glanced back at Senju-sama, the girl had noticed he was back to that depressing expression. How should she comfort him in this sort of situation? What would her father do if he was in her shoes?
"Uhm... d-do you want some s-sake?"

Yokou would not interfere for him, this test was the child's own battle...though...she vaguely wondered which golden statuette. In her many visits to the compound, she recalled quite a number: from special sculptured phoenixes and dragons wrapping around elegant pillars in the royal family's house to small figure-heads of the Goddess of Mercy, the thousand-armed Senju Kannon. A slight frown curved her lips: all Taiju had demanded of the Students was a small golden statue...
She watched, mildly amused, as Tairu addressed the girl directly. A noble gesture, but unfortunately - she suspected the Students had noted that their Senju instructor had made it clear only one would pass, the one who brings the target statue. She vaguely prayed that bloodshed would not break out - but then, if Tairu had thus far been courteous to this girl, she supposed even if it came down to it, and of course, raiding the Senju compound unexpectedly (she suspects) would hardly be a simple task, then-...
Saito's voice brushed aside any other thoughts, from musing to reality, and Byakugan fading (she could find Tairu as simply at a later time, because she now recognized his visible chakra signature), she turned her attention to the boy. Her Sensei was currently not tending to Saito, because Zephyr was all too busy trying to calm that child from earlier (who was again in hysterics). But...but...he seemed to be doing relatively better.
Not Saito, though.
Her lips twisted slightly into a frown. Why would Zephyr give one of the most difficult lessons so early? Chakra burn-out was a dangerous thing, particularly for novice shinobi without much control. But as she watched, understanding clicked in her mind. Ahh. Zephyr had given out a variation, attempting to prod the boy to master chakra control in a roundabout way in addition to expanding his chakra capacity...
The boy was struggling, making a valiant effort at limiting. She approached him quietly, watching him for a long moment, but then, brushing her fingertips - her skin felt nicely cool to the touch - lightly against his forehead. She graced him with a lovely, soft smile as she leaned down to whisper in his ear.
"That's it, Saito-kun. But you may find it easier, to limit chakra from the center."
Center?
She had meant the central chakra source.
It would be helpful in stabilizing chakra flow to the external environment.

Taiju stood up and hoped that the damm students would be busy for a while. And yet he still had nothing to do but wait. This meant he couldn’t go and train. Perhaps he could actually have a civil conversation with Yokou, but that seemed doubtful. Well, life was short and he didn't have much to live for.
"Hey Yokou, ten ryo says Tairu comes back first. He seems to be just as talented as you. Perhaps it’s from training he's done with you? He's quite lucky to have such a powerful mentor."
In all honesty, Taiju wondered what it would be like to have to mentor. Most of his techniques were self taught, and thus they didn't really fit in with any sort of style. Regimented fighting and training sessions were boring and didn't help you when your opponent actually used that brain of theirs.

Saito opened his eyes, and looked up, his lips pursing.
It was her...
He stared for a moment, taking in her advice and nodded. He dropped his hand-sign and slowly looked down once more..
The Young Yakedo couldn't face her.. her sheer beauty was far too intimidating. Even to the boy who believed intimidation was illogical, but this feeling was illogical...
"I understand.", he said in his soft, contained voice and slowly forced himself to his feet. He didn't exactly want to pass out on her...
He was so flawed.
His eyes were blackened in fatigue, his eyes matte, not shining. The boy's knees quivered as he closed his eyes. Quietly, still looking down, he started resting, focusing.
He needed to get a bit of chakra back so his eyes slowly fell closed once more.
"Will you tell me about yourself madam?", the boy managed. There was sheer respect in his innocent voice.

Formula [ 6 - 7= 0]
Saito turned his head to the proctor, his eyes glinting, becoming cold. So this was a Senju clansmen.
He often thought they'd be like Shodaime or Niidaime Hokage. He seemed rather uncomposed.
It wasn't his buisness. He was a fellow member of Konoha, it didn't matter to him. If he was on a battlefield with the man, he'd die, and he was sure he would too.
That was the will of fire that burned in every shinobi. Konoha had undying patriotism.
He brought his fingers together for the fire symbol and started the circulation of chakra out of the body. Like Yokou, he couldn't force himself to that stage. He wanted to limit the chakra coming from the center... let it flow instead of breaking out in bursts.
He suddenly looked up. He was limiting it too much...
Let's try a bit more...
Restricted Chakra Burn-out Description: The teacher has the students keep burning their chakra to build up more chakra stamina. They must hit exactly 0 to finish the training successfully. If they went into the negatives, the student would pass out and would have to be revived by their teacher (chakra transfer only revives, does not give chakra to students...or the traditional icy water) and students then must rest until their Cp is recovered. Formula: 1d20 + Chakra mod. DC: Every interval of 5 in whatever the result of your formula equates to -1 Cp. But as Zephyr notes, chakra control is very important. Getting into the negatives is very dangerous, and can actually kill people. So, if you fail to perfectly get your Cp to 0 (in this case, since you have no chakra mod. that means if and only if your dice roll is a 15 or 20, to which it will be a -3 (for a dice roll of 15) or a -4 Cp (for a dice roll of 20) respectively) then you must do this each time you are in danger of falling into negative Cp: DC: 12 Formula: 1d20 + Chakra Control **If and only if you succeed that second check, will your Cp reach perfectly 0. Note that you can only count a success if you reach 0 normally, without doing this chakra control regulation section. Thus, if you rolled a 15, and is in danger of falling into -1 Cp (meaning you will faint until Zephyr revives your character somehow by either transferring chakra or throwing cold water, etc.), then you do the Chakra Control check. If you succeed, you manage to reach 0, but it does not count towards the success of this activity. ***Rest when necessary. You will regain +1 Cp for every resting post, four completed lines minimum. Keep note that in resting posts you cannot do anything else, or any other checks, BUT rest. Special Note (important!): This means Zephyr's bonus in this case will actually SUBTRACT from your dice roll rather than add to it, from giving advice on regulating to prevent you from dangerously depleting your chakra. Hp: 1210 | Cp: 3250 | MHp: 1200 Theme Song: Reminiscent Theme (Earth Girl Arjuna - Didn't it Rain?)It was rather tiring to speak from a towering height - hence why he preferred his usual childish form - but then again, if he did use that Henge of his ten-year-old form...well...Kaede will be all in hysterics again. So, he dropped to a seated lotus position, soft, long locks of raven hair tied into a low ponytail for the briefest moment trailing down to follow the motion of the movement, before part-settling upon his shoulders and trailed over to the back like a dark-curtained veil.
Since she now stood at the taller height, perhaps she would be more comfortable speaking to him.
And to his surprise, the girl grew up, just but if very little.
Senju-sama? Thought Zephyr, vaguely. Did he tell her his birth name? But when his mother's momento laid in his hands, at first he thought those were silver vines entwined with the leaves...and then realized that the vines actually formed the prongs of the vajra...
The Senju insignia!
!
And it clicked.
"Don't-..." He began, the passing breeze lacing ghostly fingers in dark raven hair partly obscuring his expression. But his voice trailed off.
"...don't..." He began, again. "...don't refer to me, by a name I am not. Senju...Senju is..." His tone dropped, softly. "It is the name carved into the blood, but Senju is not me." But then it became obvious, when finally the breeze would stop playfully tugging at his hair, seemingly unruly here and there, and... His face was composed, blankly, fitting for his doll-like features but his eyes spoke of pain.
And so he closed them.
His mother's momento, at then, was woven as a gift of celebration for the clan's new prince. But...
But-...
"My parents cheated Heaven's will." He said, at last. "They paid the price for that." The last truly of proud Hashirama-Shodaime's line had turned to the laboratories to save the remnants of the name. He had once wished, wished and wondered, why...? Would it have been better off, to not know...to not know who his parents were, so that he would not lose himself perhaps one day to the timeless ages, cursing their very memory from his lips...?
"But..."
...
Because Rasen had been there.
"...it's true."
And Yokou, and Shikamori...even Museifu.
Because there were people to smile, laugh, and pass the days with...
"...that it is nice, to be told 'thank you for being born'." A small smile. "Arigatou gozaimasu, chiisai-hime (literally little princess)."
Surprisingly, to her next question, he did not even feel a twinge of insult. Though he feigned indignation, just to humor her: "What! I am only five years older!" He muttered, protesting. "I was seventeen when I met my trio of brats." Was seventeen? But there was no way, unless he had a Henge on, Yokou herself was-... Since Kaede had fallen a bit quiet, Zephyr became very well aware of the stiffness in his limbs...he took out the training weights before they arrived in the village but...
...it would seem the too drastic shift of carried weight, and trapping most of his chakra, was not going to end up well... Still seated, he cracked his knuckles, grumbling slightly. There was going to be hell to pay later, and boy oh boy he'll have to do Saito's lesson himself when the chakra he had blocked all day returns with vengeance... Interlacing his fingers, and holding his arms up, turning the back of his hands towards the top of his head, he stretched. The least he could do was to stand the discomfort until he gets rid of those limiters.
To her wide-eyed look, and still not understanding what's wrong, he looked at her funny. Musing in thought, he only caught part of her question with a half-attentive ear: "...huh? Looks? I'm not using a Henge, why? They are way too troublesome to keep, and a total waste of chakra." That was true, his clan's special Henge was a different story.
!
But at her next words, he was alarmed. Certainly, he liked sake...but!
Offered from a little girl?
Really!?
"W-wha..."
Don't tell him they started selling to minors!
"...why do you even know of sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"Rank: Hokage | Position: Head of Clan, Senju Royal Family Title: White Tiger of KonohaThe old man is dead now...why do I still live his promise...? "A thousand." She replied smoothly, her cold pale eyes glinting.
"And even if he is first, still."
She meant it.
Tairu was family, and of course she would want to see him to do well, but to belittle any of the others, was simply not allowed. She had already gotten to know one of the other two, the Nara child...so young, yet already magnanimous in heart. A thousand to the toast, she did not care who showed up first.
"That's right. Today's only the first, I'll be watching him." She replied. Her first day returning to Konoha after a long year and half, her first day meeting Rhaim, Tairu, and Saito... And with the ceremonial coming of age (becoming Genin) was the beginning of a new era.

Saito listened in as he focused on his sign and continued to build chakra. This time he decided to produce just a bit more.
He stared at Yokou, his eyes simply seeing focus. She was quite intense, even then, she was so elegant. This Senju, truly, she was not fond of him. He didn't exactly understand, but there were always clan rivalries from what he'd read. Senju and Hyuuga. Two great clans. Sadly he was not of a clan, yet his sensei took a liking to that. Could that be an advantage...
It was something to wonder about.
He looked down, clenching his teeth as his chakra started to burst and crackle. Thats right... let's burn that bit. and let's not try to pass out...
He frowned. He wasn't doing much.. his chakra wasn't doing like before and he was getting quite agrevated with his lack of progress today. The boy's anger slowly rose.
