"Nikolas Windsorrrr... found it."

Ox-carts [ ] Criteria: Looks representative of farmers
Song and dance [ ] Criteria: Danced consistently, would look good in uniform
Decorated barge [X] Criteria: Made it to the end of the circuit without notable exhaustion
Costume Parade [X] Criteria: None, any will do.

"So, want to pull the barge or costumes?" She suddenly saw him, actually looked right at him, and he didn't seem like... the barge-pulling type. Should she tell him it would be almost as bad as the bags, but for a few hours continuously? She shrugged, hoping to be surprised.

Shakuntala returned Alec's smile. It was nice to have someone genuinely concerned for her well-being. "It wasn't... that bad..." she fibbed for the sake of the horse. She didn't want Drakon to have a bad reputation for a simple mistake that was to blame on the person that tethered him there. "I'm glad... the horse is fine though..."

Lenore looked to the side. "Y-yeah, but only because the manager is making me." Lenore blanched. She hadn't thought of showing anyone herself in costume, just blending into the crowd. Still, wasn't this something friends did? She gave a tentative nod. "Yeah, we should..."

Hopefully the costume wouldn't be embarassing.

"For sure! I'm sure my sister will love---" as if he was about to say something more, a blur of a child came running up to the short boy. The small child suqealed with delight hugging her older brother rubbing her dirt stained face on his white t-shirt. "hiiiiihi!" she chirped to anyone who would listen to her.

Alec laughed ruffling the strawberry blonde girls hair as she clung to him. "you." he finished explaining. A woman was close behind the child looking on at the small group with a warm smile. Equally as red haired as he oldest son.

"Afternoon." She tucked some of her hair back behind her ear bowing her head. Marissa tried to pull Ashley off her brother but had little success as she was a willful child.

Alec looked a bit sheepish as he shifted taking the little girl with him as she was still latched on. "I'll move so people can sign up." he offered moving off to the side a bit. "Mom this is the girl who helped at the party." he gestured first to the girl, slowly making introductions like Nik, or Cyril to which the woman listened with a b it of a smile and arched brow glad to see him making friends.

Fantastical Jamz

"What jobs?" She answered blankly, and then remembered the context. This heat was really getting to her.
"Oh right. I don't recall seeing you around for the first part... Cyril... right?"

Ox-carts [X] Criteria: Looks representative of farmers
Song and dance [ ] Criteria: Danced consistently, would look good in uniform
Decorated barge [ ] Criteria: Made it to the end of the circuit without notable exhaustion
Costume Parade [X] Criteria: None, any will do.

"You could sit in the ox-carts, which are literally filled to the brim with petals, and toss them up to shower the rest of the parade in. Or you could pick up a costume out back (or bring your own) and join the costume parade, which is... dancing, hollering, shenanigans."

"Don't worry about it; we'll do just fine," Zin promised. "I'm sorry we can't be together in the parade, but I really wanted my parents to see me! They don't think that I could make it as a-- well..." She suddenly cut herself off, wondering if discussing her parents would distress Lenore. "Anyways, I'm sure it won't take very long, and then we can hang out again!" she concluded with a grin.

"Anyways, it looks like we're done here for today, so we can do whatever we want until tomorrow! Do you want to check out some of the other booths?"

Lenore was confused by the sudden change in topic, but she said nothing. Thinking, she nodded. The manager should probably be manning the booth, still, so it should be alright to take a break, right? "Sure. Lead the way."

Lloren scribbled down the name alongside Alec's. With that, they would be signed up for an ox-cart. "It looks like a fun place to be! You'll have some allergic folk running after you with pitchforks after the parade if you do that, Alec. Aim for their rear ends instead. There's symbolism there, I'm sure."

She looked back to Shakuntala. "And um, I really should apologize for that." ... Lloren spoke the next sentence with added sinister flair. "It was I who tethered the horse to the tent pole." And then with a lighter tone, "If you want to see the horse again, he's in the stalls in the back! Get a load the the name- it's Drakon."

Zin knew to avoid the taste testing booth, and she had a feeling that they ought to steer clear of the goldfish booth in case Lenore was roped back into roping, but that didn't mean that they couldn't see what else was around. She wandered away from the tent and took a look around. It looked like there were more booths selling food (Zin was suspicious that they would also contain extremely spicy foods), and other small games.

Zin felt for her wallet in her pocket, and remembered that she'd had to lighten it considerably the previous day due to bad luck. So, perhaps, food was not the best way to go at the moment. "Let's play over there," Zin suggested, pointing to a random stand. It looked like a basic dart-throwing game, where they had to hit a target to win a prize. If it was free, Zin was down for it!

((moar improv xD))

His mother gave him a sharp look when the coordinator corrected him, but said nothing amused really despite her stern motherly look.

"Right I know, don't ACTUALLY throw 'em in the face." He replied to Lloren blushing a bit and looking away. "Oh the horse is by? Awesome." He scooped up the small girl padding off in that direction to take her closer, who in turn had wide sparkling blue eyes of awe and wonder touching the animals shoulder, petting Drakon surprisingly gentle for all her joy.

Spying Tala and her murmured thank you the male nodded. "So you are going for the carts too?" Alec was glad he'd have a familiar face with him beside his family. That was something at least.

"Hello miss!" the child prattled on, still more concerned with the horse naturally but at least sparing her a look.

[Catching up all at once: Prompt 1]

After ducking out early the previous day, Elliot’s parents had chosen to escort him back to the volunteer happenings that day just to ensure that their son didn’t decide to skip out on what they made him he had signed up for. Once they saw him to their destination, the pair were waved away by their disgruntled and slightly embarrassed teenage son, leaving him under the care of his peers and the event coordinators.

…Except apparently Elliot really wasn’t feeling it today, as he was very quiet—even moreso than usual. While he usually would have had some sarcastic comments to throw out and would have gone around to socialize a little with others, the boy simply stood there groggily today, blinking slowly as he stood with the rest of the volunteers and listened to today’s introduction.

Dancing, huh? It wasn’t like he had two left feet, but Elliot couldn’t say that it was something he enjoyed doing either. As soon as the lesson commenced, the peach-haired boy immediately stepped back with the intention of avoiding the activity, only to let out a noise of surprise when someone suddenly grabbed his wrist. Before he knew what was happening, he had one hand on a girl’s waist, and the other hand was clasped around hers.

”Uh, wait a sec, miss--”

Except apparently she was most insistent on dancing with him, because her grip on his hand tightened slightly—not to the point where it was painful, but in a firm manner that indicated that she was not letting go. Staring down at her with a hint of a grimace, the boy finally sighed and relented with a polite, “If you insist then, miss”.

While he was initially rather clumsy, with the guidance of their instructors and with a partner who clearly knew more about what she was doing than he did, Elliot quickly managed to pick up the steps, tensed shoulders relaxing as he finally got into the swing of things, moving surprisingly fluidly.

It hadn’t exactly been fun for him, but it hadn’t been completely terrible either. With a hint of a smile directed towards his partner, he released her hand.

[ Prompt 2 ]

In hindsight, the first activity had been significantly more enjoyable than how this second one sounded.

While he did work in his mother’s flower shop, Elliot was usually just tasked with running the cash register or watering the flowers—his parents usually did all the other stuff, which included carrying all those heavy bags of dirt and fertilizer around. He was, simply put, just not used to heavy labor. The fact that he was always so lazy did not help matters in the slightest.

This was going to suck.

He just hoped that no one was going to watch his most assured failure, though it seemed as if everyone else was busy with trying to drag their own bags of dirt to the designated area. Well, there was no backing out of this for him—he might as well give it a go.

Lips curving into a frown, the boy hesitantly stepped forward and grabbed a bag, one corner in each hand. Slowly, he began to step backwards, dragging the thing forward by just a couple of feet before he had to pause, his palms burning from the way the bag’s fabric rubbed against his hands. Was it cheating if he wrapped his hands up? …Because even if it was, too bad. Reaching into his pocket, he produced two handkerchiefs—he always kept an extra on hand just in case—and spent a few seconds wrapping them around each hand, using his teeth to give them a sharp tug to secure the knot. When he gripped the bag again, he let out a small grunt of approval.

Better.

Of course, it didn’t help the burning in his upper arm muscles, but that was just something that he would have to deal with. Working at this at a slow and steady pace, Elliot was far behind the others—especially Danny, good god, girl—the boy admittedly had to pause every so often to swipe at his forehead with the back of his hand, but he eventually made it to the other side of the courtyard.

And then he promptly dropped the damn thing and collapsed face down in the grass. Never again.

[ Prompt 3 ]

He was glad that the lady sounded so merry about that test of strength, because he was feeling dead tired himself. Letting out a groan, the peach-haired boy rolled over in the grass, staring up at the sky blankly for a moment before forcing himself up into a sitting position. This day had definitely been more of a workout than he usually had.

Elliot eventually dragged himself up at the prospect of water, moving forward to the refreshments to grab a cup and sooth his parched throat. He had downed one cup and was halfway through his second when he realized that he should probably go and find out what he had been assigned to. Glancing around, he spotted the little crowd that had gone to ask Lloren—no doubt about the same thing that he was going to ask—and went to join them.

Once he had reached the front of the group, the boy took a sip of his water before awkwardly glancing away. ”Er. Elliot Lindstrom. Could I know where I’ve been assigned to?”

A part of him hoped that Lloren would tell them that he had bombed everything and had no assignment at all.

Well, that was a bit of a derp moment. Shakuntala cast the trainee a slightly bewildered glance at the coincidence. The seventeen year old had thought it was someone else -- like a stable hand -- responsible for the horse's unfortunate location. Now that she knew, all ill feelings diminished (not that there was much, anyway).

"I-It's all right..." she replied, letting bygones be bygones. "It was... just a mistake..."

Learning that Drakon was near lifted her spirits. She smothered a chuckle at the overly elegant name, adding, "Oh my..." with a small smile.

Deciding to pay the steed a visit, she followed with Alec. At once, a large, rare smile encompassed her features. He truly was a beaut and just staring at the ebony steed was enough to send her into gushing. In between telling Drakon what a very pretty boy he is, yes he is, Shakuntala turned to Alec and nodded.

"I-I am..." she replied. "I wasn't chosen for dancing and... Costumes... Just..." She gave a small shiver. "No."

Shakuntala blinked at the fiery redhead's younger sibling. Unsure of how to properly say hello without frightening her, she opted for a wave instead.

Day 3: Marching Group Assignments begins!
Will update this with more people etc

***This is the last day for regular signups, after which you can only join the costumed dancers troupe of the parade. If you do a regular signup and haven't been assigned a position in the parade yet, your character can either be a parade security escort (anyone), a marching band trainee (only if you have a trainee character) or you can write a 200+ word (totally) response to the three prompts from Assessment day [1] [2] [3] to be assigned elsewhere. If you do the prompt response, please top your post with the bolded words: Day 2 Prompts.

Day 3: Marching Assignments Prompt/ORP

Today (the 20th), you have already been assigned to your positions in the parade, and have one free day to practice and perfect your troupe. Answer these prompts at your own pace! Or just blow off your duties xD

If you're in security or a military trainee in the marching band, you're supposed to be
(1) Keeping people away from the waterside of the canal
(2) Reporting any missing or broken cobbles in the parade's path
(3) Keeping an eye out for Suspicious People
(4) Checking the other volunteers and troupe's progress to make sure nobody's blowing off their duties TOO much (so feel free to wander around 'checking up' on other people or really just hanging out with whoever, help them if you want to!)

-Bluedemonwolf (Farvardin)
-The Semblance of Unity (Preacher)
-Kaiyumi (Elliot)

-Renekai (Zin)
-Mythee (Lloren)

If you're in the ox-carts, you've got this work to do together today:
(1) Clean and decorate the ox-carts
(2) Clean and decorate the oxen, take them for a test run
(3) Try on the stereotypical farmer's outfits complete with suspenders and straw hats.
(4) Lastly, fill the ox-carts with flower petals in preparation for tomorrow.

-NaomiNaomi (Shakuntala)
-leon_a_darkangel (Alec and family)

If you're in the dance and song troupe, you're supposed to be:
(1) Trying on a gaudy uniform that fits your size. There are two kinds: the flamboyant feather-hat, blue and yellow dress-suit and dress-pants, and the feathered-everywhere light blue and white flamboyant dress which can also come with a feathered hat.
(2) Practice your dance!

If you're in the decorated barge pulling troupe, today you must:
(1) Help to design and decorate the barges.
(2) Tether ropes to the barges and push them into the canal.
(3) Some of the barges are sinking, go inside and find the leaks! And don't mind people telling you about people having drowned from a decorative barge collapsing while they were inside. These tales are true, from when they still rowed parade barges from within. But that was ages ago!
(4) Never ever touch the barge from Utopia, that one is already prepared and ready to go, and also very expensive, security will shout at you if you go near so stay away.

- XBlind-DarknessX (Nik)
- Troll Toll (Axel)
- Blade_Kuroda (Shun)

If you are a costumed dancer,
(1) You can rummage through the many boxes of costumes at the back of the inn and find one that fits! Most of them are dumb or ridiculous. And then hold on to it and go assist the others.
(2) If you want to make your own costume or already have your own to bring, you're allowed to use that instead.

-Qixel (Lenore)

If you're riding a show-horse, you can... practice riding? Or just go pester and hang out with the others. xD

***It's more like a prompt-assisted casual ORP this time around. If you wish to wrap up RPing Day 2's events, you've got until noon EST/9AM PST/11AM CST. Make sure you precede you post with bolded Day 2

Day 2

Neither of the choices he was given sounded remotely interesting to him, but he had already come this far. Assuming his habitual thoughtful stance he regarded each of the two choices before allowing his shoulders to sag. Though he was willing to allow his dignity to fall from time to time, there were still levels that his nobility would not allow him to sink to. Successfully managing to mask his disappointment with the choice he was making he responded. “I suppose pulling the barge will be my self assigned task.” Finishing with a courteous smile he stepped away to allow the next person to step up.

After a bit of wandering he noticed Alec standing beside the familiar woman from the curry booth, but upon further observation he also saw they were accompanied by people who looked very much like Alec. Upon being introduced he clapped Alec on the shoulder amiably. “Looks like I have assumed the role of a mule. I am pulling the barge.” He stated, a little more humorlessly than he intended. Something told him, this parade was going to be more of a pain than anything else.

Turning away from Alec he smiled softly at Shakuntala. “Hello again.” His eyes turned toward the horse they were all admiring and held his hand out, palm down, for him to smell. “It seems my respiratory system is once again functioning normally.” He directed toward the bronze young woman, making reference to the curry that nearly killed him a few days before. “In fact,” he added with an amused chuckle, “I think I am breathing better.”

"Eyyy it's the flower guy!" Lloren said as he approached.

Ox-carts [X] Criteria: Looks representative of farmers
Song and dance [X] Criteria: Danced consistently, would look good in uniform
Decorated barge [X] Criteria: Made it to the end of the circuit without notable exhaustion
Costume Parade [X] Criteria: None, any will do.

"You did great!" she then declared decisively, flapping the sheet of results onto the table. "At everything. So take your pick!" She stated, bringing her hands in the air as if saying 'surprise!'
