Tell me would you kill to save a life? xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxTell me would you kill to prove you're right?Alpha ✖ War Room ✖ Costumexxxxxxxxxxxxxxx He laid out his plan for their part of the attack on the mutant prison for Kat to review. Really it was not much so different as the typical heist he was used to. The major difference here was that his intended treasure was many human lives instead of some unbelievably expensive painting or some jewels. This, naturally, complicated things. Jewels and paintings did not make noise or panic when you escaped with it and handed it off to whatever fence would pay for it, but he expected moving a bunch of ragtag mutant prisoners out of a building would be decidedly less quite. This was expected, considering they were a whole team of a dozen or so that were orchestrating this little jailbreak. He wondered if it would be more efficient if he just went in alone and quietly teleported them all out. It might be exhausting, and it would be a matter of time before the guards noticed the quickly disappearing prisoners. He decided it really did not matter either way, as it would eventually devolve into chaos regardless of how they went about it. Like it or not, he would have to rely on other people to watch his back, something he doubted he would ever get used to.
He'd at least make the effort, though.
Kat remarked that she'd assumed they would be going to the warden's office regardless, and he nodded. It was the natural choice to start, for reasons he'd already explained. He merely wanted to make sure they were on the same page. Relying on a partner was still a rather foreign concept to him, and he wanted to make sure they both knew the best course of action, so they would not trip over each other in the middle of a mission. There was a bit of nervousness there, naturally. Butterflies always fluttered in his stomach shortly before a job, and often times it was what kept him, or any thief really, alive. But this wasn't a heist, and more than just his own paltry life would be in danger. The lives of his partner, the rest of his team, and, of course, the prisoners all could very well rest on his shoulders. One wrong move could be the end of the entire operation. He was confident in his abilities to hold his own, as he was damn good at what he did. But no one was perfect, and anyone who claimed otherwise was either lying or the biggest idiot in the room. Everyone made mistakes, even him, and all it took was one little slip-up to have his life spill out of him through a bullet wound. Death always came at an inconvenient time.
She assured him she could hold his own, and again he nodded. He certainly hoped she could. But then, soldiers always talked big before a mission, himself included. He truly would have no way of knowing what she was capable of until he saw her in action. She returned his banter, and all he could do was smirk beneath his mask. ”Funny,” he said, ”I was just about to tell you not to slow me down or get in my way.” He did not doubt her boasting, or at least that she believed her own hype, but until they were in the thick of it he could not really be sure. He went back to the maps, looking them over just a bit more to make sure he properly memorized them when Bella interrupted them, with Aurelie answering before Kat could. Kat's snark toward their team leader made him chuckle quietly to himself. He took a single step to the side away from Kat, just in case Bella wanted to retaliate in a more violent way, never taking his eyes off the map. ”First I am an old man, now I am 'Junior.' Do make up your mind, if you please.”
”Ma'am,” he said simply, nodding his head in acknowledgment of Bella's order to continue to analyze the map. After a few more moments, however, he followed the rest of the team toward the portal held open by their guest Manifold. In one moment, he was in the X-Men's underground base, and the next they were at their destination, surrounded by nothing but wilderness in their immediate area. He looked around them for a bit before his attention was drawn toward Bella, when she told him and Kat it was their time to go. With a nod, he reached out to Kat and placed his left hand on her shoulder. ”Showtime,” he said before blinking out of existence with Kat, both replaced by a cloud of pitch black smoke that disappeared just as quickly as they came.
When they reappeared, they were inside an office. They teleported just in front of the doorway leading out of the office, as Julian knew it would be the only area of the room that was sure to not have something in the way; the last thing he needed was to have his plans thwarted by having his body teleported into a chair or something. The room was decorated with oak shelves packed with paperwork and books, and matching chairs, and a massive desk. At the desk was seated an older man, face pale at the sight of having two humans suddenly appearing out of thin air as if they were some kind of vengeful spectre; he assumed the man was the facility's warden. Aside from him, there were two other men, guards, one seated opposite the warden and the other standing just beside the desk. Presumably they were discussing some matter of business before Julian and Kat rudely interrupted them. He decided to attack while the shock was still fresh, within that three-or-so time frame in which shock turned to retaliation. ”Warden,” was all he said to Kat, and hopefully that was all he needed to say. The guards were his to dispatch.
He let go of the shapeshifter, and blinked out of existence once again. He reappeared behind the standing guard, thrusting the low point of his cane into the back of his left knee to sweep him off his feet backward, teleporting out of the way before the man could fall on top of him. Julian reappeared in front of the guard just as he fell to his knees. He twirled the can in his right hand in a half-spin, then slammed the handle of the cane against the guard's temple as hard as he could, knocking him out instantly. Without hesitation, Julian teleported once again, this time appearing behind the other guard, who was now up and about, moving to attack Julian where he previously stood, and dropped his cane. Julian quickly rushed the man and jumped onto his back, wrapping his left arm around the guard's neck. He brought his right arm behind the man's neck to lock in a figure four rear naked choke. He held the choke as tight as he could until the guard eventually passed out.
Julian wasted no time, searching the guards for their handcuffs, and locking them in place behind each guard's back. Just to make escape all the more difficult, he locked the two guards together by criss-crossing the handcuffs behind their backs, locking them together like two rings made up of their arms. He robbed them of the cuff keys, their weapons, their radios, and all other useful items. After he was done, he waited for Kat to finish her part of the job before continuing to the meat of the mission.

 [ ʈ | ɦ | ҿ ➸ S | i | z | e | - | S | h | i | f | t | i | n | g ]xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxOmega - Narcissa's room, meeting, mall
With as much as he longed to laze about in bed, it was probably a good thing that one of them could focus on something other than that. But with the pillows still fluffy, the sheets still cool, and the fiery woman in his arms, Aren's brain had melted into a goo-like substance. He'd murmured something about how they needed a vacation, and Narcissa recalled the last one they'd been on, mentioning the drugs – to which he grinned – the hallucinations, which brought on a resonating chuckle that would vibrate through her, an then the “trashy bint” that he'd not thought of in what felt like ages. “She was being rude.” He reminded her, solely remembering how racist she'd been to pick on the Native American. Looking back, he still didn't understand the girl's reasoning behind grabbing him unaware and throwing cold metal into his neck. “I don't think I ever did thank you for your hand in that. Nor did I tell you that I decided we should switch off on the wearing leather bit.” He flashed a grin at her then, the puckish expression one that insinuated exactly what he meant with little more effort.
After foolishly threatening his life to get to Narcissa for reasons he hadn't known, the Omega queen backed him up, even though she didn't really know him yet. Maddy had taken the girl away to lick her wounds, and Blair never darkened their line of sight again... “Did she die?” He blurted out in a curious tone, half joking. Not that he thought Narcissa had done it... but the shape shifter had just disappeared suddenly.
“And whack-a-spider made the vacation not so much of one.” He countered moments later, hoping that another break was in their near future.
“Also... the vacation was a little misleading to Dom and I... We'd both thought we were getting some sort of sweet setup... get promoted, and immediately get sent out to a sunny island to relish a well-deserved break.” To be honest, Dom had likely already started failing gym at that time, so he probably hadn't earned his ticket for that outing. “I feel as though we deserve another one.”
In a last ditch effort to avoid the meeting, he offered to do all of Narcissa's chores, and tried to seal the deal with a kiss that she readily accepted. Pulling at the tethers of their invisible link, he chuckled, doing what he could to draw her back into him and steal away what willpower she had left to be responsible and leave him. She slipped away before the effects could do their worst, and he sighed in frustration. It felt... wrong to allow her so much space.
Painfully, the size shifter ripped himself from the sheets groaning as much as a bear just out of hibernation. He took a shower -cold- and begrudgingly went to the meeting, almost stomping in a tantrum on the way there. Normally he looked forward to team assignments – it was a chance to be useful to society, to earn his keep for the free education he received at the academy. But the tiny little slip of a blond had him reeling, head spinning so tumultuously that all he desired was an extended stay in bed. Preferably with her in it, warm and curled into him. This said, he made it in time to listen to Emma's spiel, and made the choice of partners that he knew Narcissa wouldn't deny. Stepping over to her with a secretive smirk, he shoved his hands deep in his pockets and said very little that anyone else in the room could hear.
The first thing she noticed about him was the ostentatious and perhaps garish message across his chest, and he nodded, proud of the garb. Grinning from ear to ear, he asked if she wanted him to play doctor for her. She hated the shirt not for the message screen-printed on it, but for the tawdry threads with which it'd been contrived. Narcissa surprised him, managing a glower that would fool the rest of the team, but as he pulled upon invisible threads that had sewn them together, he felt her frustration with their situation. Hiding what they had worked well for the team and its needs, but it left them both drowning in their own emotions. “Oh, I'll take it off alright.” He stated glibly, raising a brow. His voice remained heavy with insinuation that most of the team would recognize so his lover's casual threat barely managed to register. As usual. “Cue the music, and pull out the dollars.”
The Omega queen did a once over to all of the pairings, and the size shifter couldn't help himself in wondering if Leion 2.0 and Roland would be alright together, unsupervised. “Oh I trust you...” She could have figured out the rest, given his history with the weapons generator. “But he likely will always need supervision of some sort.” And considering this whole world was somewhat new to the blond, lavender-eyed man, he didn't know whether or not Roland's partner would be up for the challenge.
Blake then invited the two of them to join him and Charlotte, and Aren shrugged, figuring that the Texan had been thinking much the same way as himself. “Guess cowboys aren't so bad when they aren't stealing our land.” He muttered to Narcissa.
With that, the team went through the gateway and immediately pulled a Scooby-Doo, splitting up and entering from different doors, to appear normal. Aren held out his arm for his partner to take and opened the doors for her, chuckling when she mentioned actually shopping. “I prefer to think of them as un-dressing rooms.” He remarked, catching the sultry tones as easily as the breeze could catch the salt from the spray of the sea. His own voice dropped in timbre, and it was all he could do not to drag her into the Macy's to show her exactly what he meant.
Cissa redirected their attention to the task at hand, using codes in case anyone was listening. “Shoes are often found in the shoe store.” He said, sounding bored with the idea, as most men wouldn't want to follow their girlfriend into a shoe store.. She asked where he wanted to start, and he nodded toward the pretzel stand at the corner. “Snacks.” He said, not caring to not be monosyllabic. “Extra cheese.” His stomach grumbled loud enough for her to hear and Aren raised a brow to indicate his point. They'd spent too much time in bed this morning, and he'd not had any breakfast. As a “growing” man, he needed nutrition of the salty and cheesy variety. Considering it was just a little kiosk, it wouldn't take long for them to be served. And then they'd have a reason to be nonchalantly staring out into the crowds.

The Omegas: The Mall |661|"If you find a man that's worth a damn and treats you well. Then he's a fool, you're just as well, hope it gives you hell. I hope it gives you hell. Tomorrow you'll be thinking to yourself. Yeah, where did it all go wrong? But the list goes on and on." ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀ The speedster couldn’t help but crack a smirk as Narcissa responded to him. It was a response that was expected. “I may be a bloody idiot, but I’m your bloody idiot. Now and forever kitten.” Some men would probably stop the shameless flirting once they were in a sort of kind of relationship, but it was doubtful Felix would ever be one of those people. No doubt, he would pay in some way for his comments at some point, bu consequences never mattered to the man. Cissa wouldn’t be too gentle if she decided to punish him in some way, but the man doubted he would be walking around with a hole through him.
Maybe.
Heading to the meeting, Felix spotted Peyton, and despite past times spent annoying the woman, headed over to her to chat about things. Resting an arm on her shoulder caused the usual irritation to appear on the woman’s face. Commenting that the boys she’d been looking at didn’t seem her type, Felix took a moment to appear pensive. “Why tall dark and handsome of course. That’s every woman’s type.” Felix could have been talking about a number of men in the room, himself, Roland, Aren, but it was safe to say who he meant.
“Besides, those don’t look like men that could handle such a… Breezy… Woman as you.” Giving a shrug of his shoulders, Felix moved the conversation on smoothly. Deciding to pair up with the blonde, the speedster didn’t give her much choice in the matter. Turning the topic to Roland was a good way to direct the blonde’s attention elsewhere. Peyton insured him that the next time she would make sure Kerrigan was nowhere around.
Smirking, Felix nodded. That was very good, because Kerrigan wasn’t anybody Felix had a bone to pick with. “No doubt, I’m sure he did quite an awful thing to deserve your wrath. Surely he deserves ten times more than you gave him. At least.” Speaking smoothly, the speedster was attempting to subtly push her towards doing it better next time. Better someone else have to deal with the aftermath and consequences than him.
His offer to help was clearly thought about. It was a delicate thing, this proposed alliance. Especially since Peyton wasn’t exactly super happy with him either. Thankfully her hate for Roland seemed to be higher and she accepted working with him, at least for one mission. “Naturally, one mission will be nothing. And it will give us time to… Talk.” Talk, plan, whatever came up really.
Whispering the next bit to her seemed to cause the blonde to at least look curious as to his intentions. “Very much so.” Her bit about proving it to her caused him to smirk. “Naturally love.” As if he expected her to just bow to him and agree. It was a small thing to get a pawn to use in his war. Then again, Peyton seemed rather strong minded. Perhaps pawn wasn’t the right word. Ally maybe. Hopefully it would be easy to direct her anger. Maybe they would find more common ground in the future, anything was possible.
As the portal was brought up, Felix walked through with Peyton. After all they were paired together for this mission. It was time to split up between the exits. They were to appear ordinary shoppers while completing their mission. At least at first. Peyton speaking caused the man to give her a sideways glance. “Lucky for you bright eyes, I’m very good at keeping women happy.” The statement was very open ended and he didn’t bother clarifying his meaning.
Reaching down he took hold of her hand and began moving towards the shops. “Best we play the part of lovers. Beautiful people are rarely just friends.” Looking around, the speedster decided to get her input on things. “So where to first love? I’ll give you first choice.” Unless she picked somewhere boring. Then perhaps he would have to choose himself.
(OOC: PM me if I missed something.)
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀ "Truth be told I miss you. And truth be told I'm lying. When you see my face. Hope it gives you hell, hope it gives you hell. When you walk my way. Hope it gives you hell, hope it gives you hell."

NYC ✖ watch your step↴xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx omegaxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxAs Felix invaded her personal space, irritation began to rise within the blonde. She had been scoping the team out for a partner when the speedster assured her that the boys she had been watching certainly weren’t her type. The fact that he pretended to know anything on the subject at all was laughable, but the real kicker was when he’d implied that he was her type. Naturally, there were more than one person on their team that fit the description, but his intent was clear enough. An unimpressed stare leveled on him, not necessarily a glare, but just on the verge of one. “Please,” Tone reflecting her expression, her response was short and sweet. If he wanted to stereotype her as ‘all women,’ he was in for a surprise. No, she realized that he was trying to hit buttons. But while hers might have been a bit a bit easier to find than others’, she wasn’t so easy.
He went on to claim the two new recruits couldn’t handle her. To be fair, he may have had a point. Babysitting two newbies sounded far from ideal, and if she was irritated with them they would be the first ones to know it. Either way, with Felix’s arrival, he had decided that they would be partners for the mission. And it turned out Peyton didn’t get any say in the matter. At the very least he wasn’t the worst person she could be paired with. But he was a close second.
He changed the subject to her run in with Roland, which quickly refocused her irritation. He’d asked about it and she assured him that the oaf had been let off easy simply because Kerrigan had been present. The redhead had certainly been an obstacle. And Peyton had held back against the team’s second-in-command. What little restraint she exercised was only for a select few people. The Omegas’ leader, and her second-in-command were two of them, for the sake of trying to stay out of trouble. Still, she had ended up in Danger Room sessions with Kerrigan after the incident. The only thing she regretted, however, was holding back at all. She could have easily taken both of them.
Felix commented on what ‘awful thing’ Roland had done to deserve her wrath and her stare settled on the speedster. “He was in my way.” she stated simply. It was the truth, after all. Not that Roland hadn’t done anything deserving of her wrath otherwise. “Try not to make the same mistake…” A warning, as Felix was coming dangerously close to doing so. Lucky for him, she hadn’t anything for him to get in the way of at the time, other than glancing around the room.
The speedster offered to help the next time she had a run in with the big buffoon, and she was skeptical at best. What she knew of Felix was that he loved causing trouble in whatever way he could. It wouldn’t be the first time he targeted her. Still, if he really hated Roland… For now, she would work with him. One mission together might give her a little more insight into his intentions. When she agreed to partner with him he mentioned being able to ‘talk.’
“And what do you want to talk about?” An unamused tone overtook her. He seemed pleased with the situation, but she wasn’t. And she couldn’t imagine being happy with whatever it was he wanted to talk about.
She was curious to know how exactly he thought they could be useful to each other. Was he just setting her up? It seemed like more than that, and she was intrigued. She told him that he was going to have to prove his usefulness to her, and he seemed serious about it. As serious as was possible for him anyway. If he could prove to her that he was useful enough to tolerate, maybe this partnership wouldn’t be a complete waste. “Well, I look forward to it then.”
After walking through the portal and arriving in Central Park, comm devices were switched off and the team split up between the mall’s entrances, Peyton warning Felix to keep her happy lest their cover be blown. He responded that he was very good at keeping women happy and she rolled her eyes. “I’m sure you think you are.” she retorted. While her words still bit with a less than friendly edge, for now her anger had subsided. For now.
When he took her hand, she struggled not to visibly react to it. He suggested they pretend to be lovers and her lips pursed as she reluctantly curled her fingers around his. If only her mutation had been super strength… “For the record, you’re disgusting and you’ll pay for it if you get too handsy.” A threatening glare flashed across her face but quickly faded as she composed herself for the mission. It was the last thing she could say without worry that someone would overhear. They had to blend in, play the part of ordinary shoppers. Did that mean she had to put up with Felix? She wasn’t sure yet, it would all depend on what it was he tried to make her deal with.
He asked her where they should start and she thought on it for a moment. There were plenty of places she could think of. It had been so long since she had been in a mall, and she’d brought so little with her to Canada. Unfortunately, this wasn’t a real shopping trip so none of that mattered. She had to keep reminding herself of the mission, it was easy to forget as they were immersed in the hustle and bustle of the mall. She really didn’t care where they went at this point, but had to remember to act like a happy shopper.
“I could use some caffeine.” And it wasn’t an excuse to head over to a Starbucks so they could see if the runaways were in that part of the mall. It took considerable effort on her part, but she managed a sweet smile at her partner. If they had no idea where to start, they might as well start with coffee.

Gabriel Byrne Location: The Base/Area of Operation Thoughts: Overwatch
Making his way to the rest of the group, he turned around and headed back to the Armory. He had a rifle and a pistol, and even some flash-bang grenades, but in his strange irritation, he felt the need to get another weapon. And considering he was already having a habit of picking Heckler & Koch, he felt the need to get a submachine gun, settling on the H&K SMG-2, making sure he’d grabbed one with a shoulder stock and laser sight. He then remembered that this was a bit of a quiet mission, so he grabbed suppressors for the pistol and rifle. The SMG was for when things were going loud. It was the strangest thing, but Gabriel had an uncontrollable urge to fire as many weapons as he could carry. Grabbing the ammunition, he threw it along his waist.
He made his way back, armed to the teeth and ballistic mask over his face. He let it hide his features, this anger and annoyance he was feeling. He kept himself silent as he listened to the orders being given. He was going with Bella and her group, to which he simply responded by checking his rifle. Pulling back the slide of his rifle, he checked the chamber, the round inside ready to fire. He stepped forward into the portal to their objective.
He was given his orders, acting as overwatch with the Omega. Screwing the suppressor onto his rifle he was surprisingly calm in his questioning when he replied to Siren’s orders. “In the event things don’t go to plan, do I have permission to engage? No center of mass shots, arms and legs.” he was quite clinical in his questions. The strangest thing really, he just could not get over this desire for violence.
Looking to Dice he motioned silently over to some cover, a tree and some tall grass. Taking position in the grass he motioned for his temporary partner to take cover behind the tree, handing him a pair of binoculars.
Asking very simply “How good are you at judging distance? If you can, you’re my spotter until further notice. Wind speed right now is minimal, so that’s not a problem.” He exhaled a bit, taking a moment to let his hands steady around the weapon. Hopefully his partner was good for the task.
It’d be a shame to leave him high and dry.

“It feels like ages since we've done anything like this.” Gracie noted after they'd been briefed. Mostly, she just remembered blowing stuff up. For some of the team, it'd be their first real mission, which made her think back to their new Alpha friends. Dialing her comm to Luke and Lynette, she couldn't stop herself. “Hey newbs. Be careful out there.” She ordered with a grin. “Otherwise I'll starve.” She had wanted to say something to Julian, but she couldn't find the words that wouldn't sound overly insulting.
Emlen Grace had nothing against the Omega leader, actually she quite liked the blond, but the opportunity for jokes abound did not allow for the Georgia peach to keep the quips to herself. Narcissa was in a mood worse than her usual surliness – anyone in the room could have seen that, had they the eyes to. But the rumor was that the Alphas had gotten the more dangerous assignment, no doubt that would have made the often prideful leader a little peeved. But after a few scuffles since they'd gotten to this base, the Omegas had done themselves no favors in earning brownie points. “We'll just blame Roland.” She snickered with a shrug. “It's easier that way.” And there was a high chance that it was true. Granted, her bias against the poor guy only showed she'd not gotten over him ignoring her a few weeks ago, but that would be one thing he'd have to learn; Southern girls can hold a grudge like no other.
Eventually, she'd tell him that he remained in the doghouse, but she wasn't inclined to rush. Hazel eyes watched as the rest of the Omega's teamed up and Gracie lifted a chin in Kerrigan's direction. “Speaking of...” The way she trailed off would allow for Daylia to come to her own conclusion. Odd that she didn't choose to work with her boyfriend. “Trouble in paradise again?” She asked no one in particular, her tone still hushed from the remarks she'd made about their leader.
Narcissa paired the rest of the team up, including herself with the intangible girl next to her and the team set off. “Maybe a little.” She admitted to her partner's query. “At the very least it gives me the heeby jeebies.” Portals weren't her area of expertise, but she'd made a strict policy about keeping it that way, in case the mechanics behind them freaked her out. It'd make being an X-person a lot harder if she refused to go through them.
First thing was first, Daylia requested a visit to the food court, and Gracie jokingly said that their friendship was going to add too much to her waistline. “I suppose you didn't, but watching you eat will only be torture. So after the pretzels, pizza and faux-Japanese stir fry... I'm going to need to find new pants.” She teased. “I could use some more of Lynette and Luke's food. When we get home, I'm requesting another Chef-off.”
Daylia was right – everything in the food court smelled divine, but the hex generator locked in on the Tacobell. “Oooh... I've not had a crunchwrap supreme in a long time...” She murmured, as if in a daze. Daylia dragged her along to the pretzel line, and she forced herself to snap out of it when her friend asked if she wanted anything. “Oh. No thanks. I want some really bad Mexican food, I've decided.” Waving back at her to indicate she'd be right back, she stalked the line in hopes of a crunch wrap.
It didn't take long, but she had halfway devoured the grilled tortilla by the time she returned, her eyes far off in the crowd, as if she was looking for someone she knew, which was partly true. “Hmmm...” She answered, considering the options. They needed to search for the kids, but she honestly had no idea where they might be. “Let's just carouse... Walk from one end of this mall to the other. After all of these calories, I'm going to need it.” Grinning, she balled up the wrapper to her Taco Bell and tossed it in a nearby trashcan.
“Were I a kid, I'd be moving as inconspicuously as possible...” She murmured when she was sure no one would be listening. “Trying to stay in large crowds... maybe trying to look like I wasn't looking for anything particular.” Tossing a curtain of dark hair over her shoulder, Gracie glanced back at her friend. “What's up with Kerri and Rolli-pollie?” She asked, quickly changing the subject when she thought she'd caught someone staring.
“Have you heard anything?” Locking her arm with Daylia's once more, she pulled her to the first shop – conveniently a forever21. “Like I said, I'm going to need new pants.” They needed to keep up their charade, just in case anyone decided to watch them. At least this cover was enjoyable. What girl didn't want to go to the mall?

Daylia couldn't help but nod in agreement with Gracie. "It almost feels normal." She added. She knew they were doing everything possible to make the underground living normal, but it would never come close to their old lives. Her eyes swept towards Gracie, watching with curiosity as the other woman put her cm to her mouth. A slow grin spread over her face again, already knowing who the dark haired woman was dialing. She fought back the chuckle, knowing that if she did laugh she would only get yelled at. Her attention returned to the blonds at the front of the room as she shook her head.
Cissa paired the two girls, which Daylia thought was just a waste of breath. At the moment there was no one else she would have thought of going into this with. Though she was thankful Cissa didn't seem to hear their quiet conversation about her. Though this time she did snicker as Gracie brought up blaming Roland. Him and Leion were probably the ones who landed the team here. "I don't think it's far from the truth either." Daylia added.
Her brows furrowed for a moment as Gracie motioned to Kerri and Roland. They hadn't been paired? A brow rose in silent question. "I have no idea..." She said, trailing off before giving a sigh. "I hope not." She added after a moment, keeping her voice low. She really hoped not. Kerri didn't deserve anything but the best, and as of recently Roland didn't seem to be offering that. "And if there is, I hope it doesn't throw her off her game." That could spell disaster for the team, and for Kerri.
After everyone else was paired, the portal was opened and two by two people began to go though. Once on the other side, Daylia couldn't help the question that fell from her mouth. It wasn't that she didn't appreciate the ability to get from one place to another that quickly, it was just slightly disorientating. "Okay, makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one." She said with a slight chuckle.
It shouldn't have come as a surprise to Gracie that D would want to pay a visit to the food court. She couldn't help but laugh and nod in agreement. "It would be torture. And if it wasn't, and you got some thrill out of watching people eat... It would be creepy." Everything sounded so good to the faux red head. "How many strange looks do you think we would get if we decided to bring back a bunch of food with us?" She asked, feeling torn between all the choices, and know she wouldn't be able to sample everything there that her heart desired. Yes she was aware they were on a mission, but she couldn't help the desire.
"Ohhh, yes." She said as Grice brought up Luke and Lynn. "I could go for another six course cook off myself." She enjoyed the food the two had made for them, and idly wondered what else they could make. "And if hanging out with me doesn't add pounds, they will. So I guess we better get you some new pants."
Daylia dragged Gracie to the pretzel stand, a grin playing over her features. "Ohh, a chili cheese burrito... With sour cream... It sounds heavenly." She said as they waited for the people to take her pretzel order. She asked her partner in crime what she wanted, only to have the woman decline in lieu of the crunch wrap. "Mkay, it's your loss!" Daylia called after the other woman. Pretzels were something she rarely got her hands on. Fairs, malls and movie theaters seemed to be the only places that liked to serve them on the regular basis.
They rejoined one another once they claimed their prizes, trying to decide where to go to next. Daylia couldn't help but note that Gracie seemed to devour her food rather quickly. She picked apart her own pretzel, savoring it and paused to lick the cinnamon sugar off of her finger tips. Gracie seemed to come up with the plan to just walk the mall, and Daylia nodded. "Sounds like a good plan to me."
They began their trek, D still savoring her pretzel. Though she appeared to be caught up in just the food and idle conversation, her eyes never seemed to stop moving as she searched the faces that they passed. "Yeah, that would be my plan... Do they have a movie theater here?" She asked, trying to think where the kids would hide. There it would be dark, and there were plenty of places to hide.
Though as Gracie moved the conversation to Kerri and her boy toy Roland, she shrugged. "I honestly have no clue." She shook her head as she popped her index finger into her mouth to finish off what was left of the cinnamon sugar. "Sadly I haven't gotten to hang out with her much lately." She said with a sigh. "Oh but maybe we can rectify that, and get the skinny. Have a girls night of movies and food." She suggested a smile crossing her face yet again. Maybe Kerri could even use the night too?
Daylia giggled and shook her head as Gracie linked arms with her again, pulling her into a Forever21. "And I'll help you make sure they're cute pants. Ones that show off that booty." She said as she followed. Gray orbs swept the room, taking in the atmosphere of the store. Was any of this her style? She couldn't help but look down at herself for a moment. Did she even have any style?
"And then maybe you can help me find a sense of style... And why someone would wear this?" She said as she held up some kind of shirt with sequins and glitter all over it, the back only held together by tiny strings.

★ At this Location: War Room, then ★ Thinking About: Mission anxieties ★ While on Team: Alpha
Pre-mission jitters were hard to calm down, even if she was supposed to have loads of experience to combat it by now. She was scared of being a liability to others, even if her joyful attitude gave off other impressions. These impressions at least gave her some good friends, one of which (Gracie) had chimed in through her communicator to wished her care in a teasing way. She donned a quick smile, despite Gracie not being able to see it before responding "No problem! We'll make it back before supper."
She slipped into her calm, quiet preparations almost a little too quickly, concentrating on her flames and taking a mental note of making sure she wasn't forgetting anything. This apparently was quite a sight, because it drew the attention of Esben, who approached her. She looked up to him from her seat, forgetting to give him a smile in her confusion. He asked if everything was alright, citing her solitary preparations as out of the ordinary. She tried to come up with a quick reason. "Uh, not really. I just wanted to give people a break from my chatting, you know? It's mission time, and I-" she tried to explain, but stopped herself when she felt guilty about plainly lying to her teammate. "Oh, crackers. It's just, I'm not so good with dealing with...live targets, you know? Simulations and giant robots are one thing, but fighting people? Living, breathing, people? Makes me think twice before I flambe them."
She shuddered as she had a brief image of a charred person. It gave her a lot of hesitation to pull the trigger on her abilities, at least offensively. She was proud of what she could do, but turning that on other people? It was cruel. "At least this time we're rescuing people exclusively, I hope."
Bella issued orders for them to move, the portal leading to their destination opening up and causing Lyn to shift in her seat in surprise. She looked back at Espen and blew a tendril of hair out of her face. "Well, mission time. Good luck out there." she said to him, finally giving him one of her glowing smiles, but the lack of energy in her voice didn't match with her expression. She got up and followed the rest of the Alphas into the portal, extinguishing the flames around her hands before actually stepping forth.
After being cooped up in their current home for some time, Lyn didn't think that the smell of forest air would be such a welcome change, especially this natural sunlight. She shook her hands and bounced her heels on the floor. No hard steel floors, just dirt, leaves, and rocks. Natural.
Bella got their attention again and split the Alphas into two groups: one with her and one with Leo. Luke and Alexandra were their own group, armed with rifles for support and on lookout duty, it seemed. Katarina and Julian had left a little earlier themselves to infiltrate. Leo's team had her with Marcel, Tara, Thomas, Aspen, and Bianca. Their group leader started issuing his orders to the group. From her experience with Leo, he liked planning things, and being very well prepared.
He confined them to channel 4 on their communicators, but asked that everyone keep off radios for when possible. Flexicuffs were necessary, but Lyn made sure she kept up with his commands. She was content to simply follow for now, keeping low to make sure that they weren't spotted or exposed. Eventually, Blaze could hear Bella's group getting farther away, and finally it settled in: Leo's team was now by themselves, no turning back, not that it was possible anyways. They reached a hill, but Leo ordered to get down suddenly, Blaze catching the sound of an engine in the silence. His first order came to her, telling her to make her to the left of them. She nodded, moving to the left of the group. She noted the jeep that began to emerge from in front of them. Her pulse quickened in response.
Leo's voice returned to her in her communicator, telling her to focus on the front passenger side of the jeep, after the jeep had been forcibly stopped by Landslide. Lyn remembered that they were still being stealthy, so she had to think of how to best stop her target from retreating without making too much of an audible commotion for the compound to hear. She thought of perhaps heating up her hands to searing temperatures to hold down her prisoner...but that would mean testing her strength against a burning grunt, and Lyn didn't want to risk being overpowered. But with other options meaning sending out waves of fire that put a great risk to her team, it was her only option.
She watched the jeep approach closer from her hiding spot, the foliage doing well to conceal herself. Leo's signal came, and she knew Landslide would immediately react to halt them. She could feel her hands begin to glow, and felt her muscles tighten, ready to take off towards the car, pull the door open and subdue the grunt inside. The sound of moving earth would be her trigger.

Esben Mateus Ness Where: New Base/Prison Complex Company: Alphas Thoughts: Knock them out? Easy Peasy Holding back, Esben understood what Lynette meant with what she was thinking about. Even though she at least tried to lie to him first, but then told him the truth, he understood what she was talking about. Even though she can barbecue things at a moments notice while he looks like the missing link between man and ape (or a really hairy Saiyan from Dragonball Z), they both have to make sure they don't accidentally kill someone when they fight.
"I understand Lyn," he answered, his smile fading slightly before he put a hand on her shoulder as reassurance, "I may not look it, but being me has given me more than just a long tail. I also have greater strength than a normal man my height and build. I have to take care that I don't kill someone instead of just knocking them unconscious. Sure it's nothing like you being forced to think twice against cremation, but it has it's similarities. You can always try to learn something that doesn't involve lighting fires and stuff. That's what I would do in your situation."
After a few seconds and nodding when she mentioned the fact they should be exclusively rescuing people, an idea popped in his head, "Oooh, oooh, oooh, I have an idea Lyn. A great idea!" he said, the first few times sounding a bit like the animal he resembles superficially, "Do you know any kind of combat techniques? If you don't, or even if you do, I could teach you some things I learned from my adoptive father/master. That way you don't have to resort to your powers until you need to," the grin on his face got bigger the more he thought about the idea. Lyn and him training together. That sounds amazing! He was thinking she would be his first actual friend here that isn't a professor. Hank's a great mentor and all, but Lyn was more his age, maybe slightly older or younger.
When she answers him, and the call to move out has been done. Esben looked towards the portal opening up and Lynette telling him good luck with a smile on her face. But the energy she had in her smile didn't match what she was saying. He waved back and answered, "You too!" She's even more nervous than he is. Hopefully their little talk will help her calm her nerves as much as it helped calm his nerves, for he was feeling much better about this. They'll do fine, he knows they will. And they'll be back here before he knows it. With a smile, he stepped through the portal, and it transported them into another place.
He felt much better out there than in the base. Natural Air, actual trees. Esben felt the soft grass beneath his bare feet, the sun on his back, and he saw actual rocks. He felt great out here, in the wild. Bella managed to get his attention and the team was split into two, with him going with Bella's team, consisting of himself, Glitter, Playboy (What kind of codename is that?), Siege, Allegra (Sounds like an allergy medication), and Dice. With the groups split, he followed Bella, resisting the urge to climb a tree to get a better view.
He stopped when Bella gave the signal, and Wukong crouched low to make himself a bit smaller while he got a good view of what they were dealing with. Eight guards, if he was alone, he would have some issues with them, but thankfully he wasn't. The plan Bella was thinking of was she was going to lull them to sleep while he and Glitter knocked out any that were still up. Seemed simple enough and he was more than qualified to do that. With that, she sang a lullaby and Wukong picked out his targets. They were so close to each other that he can easily knocked out one with an open backhand and get the other in a hold until he slips into unconsciousness. When they looked vulnerable, Wukong attacked.
Like his namesake, the Monkey King of Chinese Folklore, Sun Wukong, Esben struck fast and struck hard, but not hard enough to kill. He hit the first guy in the neck with an open handed slap, his enhanced strength enough to knock the man out. The second one he kicked the knees out of and got in a chokehold and waited until he slipped into unconsciousness before he put the man down on the ground. The others will hopefully be taken care of by Glitter while he zipties the ones he knocked out.
"Easy peasy," was what he said to himself, but that could change at anytime.

Name: Raine "Glitter" Burke Team: Alphas Power: Creation and Manipulation of Electricity Location: War Room || Mission (Forest) Scott Summers briefed the Alphas on their next mission, her eyes shifting to Bella as he explained that she would be in charge for this mission. Siren took the stage then, splitting them into smaller groups, while the firefly listened for her code name as she came through the list of Alphas. All things considered, the mission and plan sounded awful, but she knew that at least this time they would be doing some good. It was a small solace given At that point they were adjourned to take care of whatever other matters needed tending to before embarking on their new mission, the brunette taking a deep breath. Standing close to her group, she conversed idly with Dimitri and Aurelie while waiting for the notice that they were shipping out. Everyone seemed to break off into their own conversations, Kat and Leo exchanging words while Aurelie moved on to Dimitri. There seemed to be so much drama filling the air around them, she couldn't quite keep up. So, she didn't really try. Lord knows she had enough going on in her own life that she needed to sort through. The order came for them to move, Raine snapping back to reality from her own thoughts to turn her attentions back to her leader. Siren walked through a portal as if it were the most normal thing in the world. The firefly followed through with the rest of her team, stilling her breath and forging ahead before she started second guessing herself. She was momentarily shocked at the brightness of the sun and the vibrance of the colors around them in the forest. She hadn't realized until that moment how living underground, despite their best attempts, seemed to have dulled her senses. She'd have to be extra-vigilant, to ensure that she didn't endanger the lives of the others. Once everyone had come through, Siren gave the order for Kali and Eidolon to break apart and set to their task, then turning to the rest of the group and again reiterating their tasks. Raine nodded curtly when her code name was called to follow their leader, repeating in her mind that this was only to extract, nothing else. Of course, she expected them to face danger - after all, no mission seemed to pass without some sort of peril - but she had to trust in her team that they would handle it. They couldn't abandon the prisoners. It wouldn't be right. Glitter dropped low and followed her leader along the treeline, stopping when the hand signal alerted them to. From the sound of their instructions, she was back up, in case they weren't able to easily and quietly put the group of on-comers down. Flexing her hands into fists, she began to tap into her internal energy stores, the all-too-familiar glitter of electricity starting to spread across her skin. Hazel eyes moved through their small group, taking note of who was where so she didn't accidentally give them a jolt. She watched as their raven-haired leader worked her magic, noting that the guards seemed to be either falling asleep or at least exhibiting signs of drowsiness. That was their cue. Wukong was quick to spring into action, leaping into the fray and knocking out a couple of the remaining guards. Not wanting to leave him unaided, Raine threw her hands forward, electricity arching from her hands and hitting one of the men hard enough to completely knock him off his feet. Pivoting around, she threw a ball of electricity towards a second guard, which burst upon impact and arced between several of the other guards, sending volts of electricity coursing through them. It would only stun them, and hurt like hell, but at least it was something. If anything, it would buy them some additional time.

Mutation: Geokinesis Alpha Location: War Room to Prison Outskirts The meeting in the War Room went a little quicker than she expected, the brunette listening as their next mission was explained. They were split into two groups, Tara to spend their next mission with Leo and the other Alpha "rejects." Personally, she didn't mind. They worked well together, and she respected him and his ability to lead on others absence. The group spread out to make their final preparations, though she didn't have anything left to do to be "ready." For the most part, she kept to herself, and kept quiet, as they waiting for their transport to arrive. Some may have found it odd that she wasn't engaging with the rest of her team, but sometimes she found it best to observe and mentally prepare for the task at hand. Tensions seemed to be running high without her input, anyway, as she tried to figure out some of the new dynamics. She figured that people would start to pair up to deal with the solitude of their new situation, but some of them were just downright surprising. And never without some sort of drama - it was just a matter of how much. Bella reappeared, instructing them that it was time to move. Tara took that as her cue to move over to Leo, offering him a soft smile as she approached. Thomas asked their leader what the plan was, while the other group of Alphas made their way through a portal that would transport them to their portion of the mission. Leo started talking, instructing them to stick to radio silence as much as possible while they moved, while instructing Opaque to be their eyes from above. It seemed a solid enough start to the plan. While she did that, the rest of them were to stick close to their papa hen, keeping their powers to a minimum in order to avoid attracting unnecessary attention. " You got it," she responded as he called for them to move out, the group making its way through the thick trees, using them as cover. Within no time at all, or at least it seemed that way, they could see the prison in the distance, just beyond a slight hill and road. Tara could feel the vibrations of an approaching vehicle just as Leo ordered them to get down. The brunette responded immediately as she was bid, nodding as they were split up even further. " Don't worry, Renaissance Man, I'll stay right here by your side," she joked, taking her position to his left as the rest of their group set about their orders. A Jeep came around the corner, the brunette turning her attentions to their leader as he tapped her on the shoulder and whispered his hope that she could stop the vehicle discreetly before popping out and assisting in taking care of the occupants,on their side of the vehicle, once it was stopped. She nodded, signaling that she was ready, and waited for his signal. " Now," he stated simply, the brunette resisting the urge to chide him for his lack of originality. Instead, she stepped forward slightly, hands extending towards the ground ever so slightly. A dull roar cycled through the earth, rolling toward the Jeep as it approached. Anticipating the Jeep's path, the ground below the front wheels dropped suddenly, causing the vehicle to stop abruptly. " Showtime, darlin's," she muttered softly, sure that the rest of those assigned to her side of the vehicle were already on the move as the occupants of the Jeep started to get out to see what the problem was.

Katerina wished that she were preparing for a training session with Christian, over taking orders in the very near future from the Alpha Leader. The shape shifter didn’t see anything wrong with using someone else as a shield…Not if it kept the werewolf safe. The thought of something happening to him left her with an unfamiliar feeling in the pit of her stomach. She didn’t like it. The Italian woman snickered at his teasing comment about the Big Bad Wolf, eyes rolling heavenward for a moment. He had to know she wouldn’t let that go. “You mean she can’t?”
“I was always under the impression that was your main skill Christina.”, she drawled slowly, accent wrapping smoothly around her words like honey. “It’s very naughty of you to lie…Whatever will I do with you?”
It was happenstance that Leonardo just happened to be in her way when Isabella announced their positions on the teams—But satisfying to take out her anger on him. If she could have justified taking a swing at him to Aurelie, she would have done far worse than a body check. Katerina viewed their relationship for what it was; oil and water. They would never get along, no matter what side of the fight they were on. Their goals, decisions, and personalities simply did not mix.
Gunmetal blue eyes were flat with cold disdain that Rossi didn’t seem to take her threats seriously. Did he really think her so tamed? That was rich, considering she wasn’t the one completely whipped by some mouth breathing harpy. As Leonardo released her, Katerina slowly came to the conclusion that the former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent needed a solid reminder of who he was dealing with.
She was always a threat; to him, more specifically than most.
To that end she tended to fall back on HYDRA training. She fumed silently as she made her way over to the table with the blueprints, wheels turning slowly enough that if one looked closely—they could probably see the gears moving. Often times to regain the attention of an enemy, all she needed to do was take from them. Destroying what they cared for was far more beneficial than attacking them personally.
Her eyes flickered to Isabella, giving lengthy consideration to what she’d recently observed. Normally she might have felt some small ounce of regret for the innocent party… But not this time. Neither were guiltless.
They both had it coming.
“Fun does not involve infiltrating the enemy camp with old schematics and a group of inept sycophants.”, Katerina responded coldly to Aurelie, clearly excluding present company. The irritated shape shifter softened in the telekinetics presence, her expression slowly growing a little less severe. A bare chuckle ran through her as she quoted back one of Katerina’s many rules about dating. “That’s my girl…”
“Although…I’ve heard that this one has lots of money...”, Kali murmured offhandedly, falling in step with the usual banter that passed between herself and Dominik. It wasn’t so much that she’d ‘heard’ about him as she’d severely gone out of her way to get the 411 on him the day he’d showed up in their doorway holding Aurelie’s bra. “Tell me…Are you sure we’re out of luck for an incurable disease? Were you immunized as a child? If not—how do you feel about polio?”
The shapeshifter was teasing…But in her current frame of mind, it would be hard to tell the difference.
Katerina nodded firmly when Aurelie stated that her goal was to stay out of the infirmary this time, whole heartedly agreeing. It was a pity she hadn’t known the telekinetic then…”I was there for that…”
“Not that you knew. Or that I knew of you then… Gideon knocked me out of the sky with a rock, then broke my arm so he could tie me to a motorcycle…”, she went on for a moment, tone almost wistful. It was almost as if she missed the Wolverine clone. That, or she missed the punishment. Probably both. “You should really just avoid the mall.”
“In fact, you look a little green… Stay home?”, she questioned the telekinetic with false hope, knowing that there wasn’t a chance in hell she would. Still…It was worth a try, even if it was halfhearted. Katerina just didn’t want to see her hurt. In all honesty, she couldn’t bare it.
She pointedly ignored the notion of taking orders from Rossi. He was already under her skin, far more than he knew. The auburn haired shape shifter snorted in disbelief when her favorite telekinetic went on to say that he wasn’t ‘that bad’. “You’re right. He isn’t that bad… And neither is arsenic, in the right amounts.”
He was far worse than she could ever, ever know.
Julian was already pushing his luck by telling her how to run a basic operation. Her ire was once again lit when he warned her not to slow him down, cool blue eyes fixating on his person. “You just worry about chauffeuring us back and forth.”, she growled back, trying very, very hard not to lose her cool before a mission. Her frustrations kept mounting with a vengeance. The larger cats that she tended to become when the mood struck her couldn’t wait to sink teeth and claw into something that squealed.
“I’ll make up my mind if and when I please—until then, Junior, suck it up.”
It was then that Isabella interrupted and her hackles rose even further, eyes narrowing into slits. Her blood ran cold…And while she appreciated Aurelie coming smoothly to her defense, she didn’t want the telekinetic interacting with the Alpha Leader. It was clear that her blonde bombshell bestie didn’t know what had happened between herself and Rossi a few moments prior, and she wanted to keep it that way. It was far easier to let Isabella be painted the villain.
It would be that much easier to stay in Aurelie’s good graces when she inevitably tore Stone apart.
She turned a little when she felt a familiar presence close by, eyes landing mercilessly on Rossi. Katerina smirked at the boy over her shoulder, tuning out most of Isabella’s response. She simply didn’t care enough about her to give her the time of day, or the satisfaction of knowing she had any impact on Katerina at all. Now she wanted to play the leader, when she’d been hiding from an entire team for weeks? That wasn’t how leadership worked.
Things picked up after Isabella said her peace and stormed off, and she rolled her eyes. If it weren’t for the fact that she really did need to view the maps in front of them, she would have had plenty to say. Instead she sighed, looking to both Dominik and Aurelie… “Good luck. Take care of each other. Don’t expect anyone else to.”
It was clear that she was subtly insulting the Alpha leader with that, but she didn’t rightfully care. Stone was such a condescending b***h…She didn’t deserve an ounce of leniency.
Dominik mentioned a new picture for the dart board, and a slow smirk spread over Katerina’s features. It was a little darker than it should have been, her jaw clenched a little too tightly. “No need to ruin your eyesight with a picture of that…”
“Not when I can just save you the trouble and shoot the real thing.”
There wasn’t much else to say as Aurelie and Dominik joined the rest of the Alpha’s—and her attention returned to the maps. She was one of the last ones to step skeptically through the portal that Manifold had willed into existence, a satchel full of plastic restraints hanging from her belt. They would likely be lost if she shifted, but that was exactly why she wasn’t going in alone.
Immediately she heard Siren tell them to get going, and Julian teleported them before she could issue a smart remark. It was a little disconcerting at first, but it didn’t take her more than a moment to get her bearings. Junior gave a one word order, though she was already on top of it. Her movements were swift, not an ounce of energy wasted. She saw the Warden reaching for something under the desk, but vaulted effortlessly over it boots first. The shapeshifter nailed the older man square in the chest, causing his office chair to roll backwards and smack into the wall. It had the combined effect of winding him, and keeping him from signaling the alarm. Katerina landed on her feet, and viciously stabbed the man in the throat with two fingers.
The Warden grabbed his neck as expected, likely suffering a damaged windpipe, and she followed up with a swift blow to the temple. It landed right between his hairline and eyebrows, perfectly eye level. It was clear that this wasn’t her first time knocking someone out, because the man slumped over after that.
It was so easily, that it was borderline pathetic.
A little curious she turned to watch Julian deal with the rest of the guards as she secured the Warden to the chair, before tipping it over. It would be that much more difficult for him to get free once he came to. The teleporter wasn’t as useless as she’d initially assumed, but she still wasn’t completely sold. Humans were a lost cost… All that mattered was how he held up against their own kind.
Taking a good look at the Warden she felt her face begin to change. She grew taller and put on muscle mass, her bones creaking and audibly breaking as she grew taller. The sounds her shifting made often disturbed those around her. Sometimes to the point of being physically ill. Less than a minute passed and she adjusted her tie, a perfect replica of the man she’d just rendered unconscious.
A quick search of the man’s pockets yielded what they were looking for. A key for the collars, and security keys for the detainment center. They should be able to get through most areas without much resistance. “Let’s get this done.”
“We need to find another key for the collars before you take one back to the others.”, she voiced, tones the deep baritone of a man. Spying a map on the wall that seemed far more accurate than what they were working with before, she nodded her head towards it. “That says we should go down a few floors to reach the containment cells. And the medical bay.”
Critical eyes peered around the room, looking for a security camera. Not a moment later she found one facing the doorway, just slightly in sight of the desk. No alarm had sounded, so she assumed whomever was doing the monitoring wasn't paying very close attention. Not to mention that the whole interaction had taken moments... "You should move those guards to the right about six feet...Keep them out of sight in the far corner. They can't see our warden while he naps behind the desk..."

Having someone around who understood the perfection of southern sweet tea gave him cause to smile, bright memories lifting his features. She'd inquired about his accent, and it simply went from there – the pair reminiscing about their homes. He wasn't apt to think on it for long though, lest his blood start boiling from reflecting on the monsters his parents had become. That sort of turmoil would be best left forgotten when they were so close to going on a mission. “Sadly, sweet tea isn't the same no matter what you do. 'Mama' always does it best.” The cowboy agreed. Granted, more often than not, it was 'Mammy,' his au pair who'd took care of any needs he may have had. “However, I'd be happy to share a glass of yours some time.” He said cheerfully. “We'll exchange stories of running through the hollers, and maybe bribe someone who cooks to make some key lime pie.”
He then asked her forgiveness for changing his appearance, transforming into someone far more likely to pass through the crowd unnoticed. He'd had an image inducer for years to help disguise him for recruiting – but with weary mutants, Blake found honesty had usually worked better. She laughed out loud, and then pretended to be disappointed by his new appearance, only momentarily. “I won't tell anyone of your preferences for dirty blonds over brunettes.” He said with a wink. “I would loathe to discourage all the guys looking in your direction.”
Blake watched as the others were paired up, and got a little weary when he saw that Roland and Leion were to be working together – by themselves. Rather than wait to see if it was a catastrophe, he led Charlotte over to them, asking if it'd be alright for them to keep an eye on them. Her good nature elicited a grin, and he chuckled when she said she had no problem being surrounded by men. “I'd hope so. It'd just be bad news if they got into another fight while we're trying to be discreet.”
When they walked over to Leion and Roland, the weapons generator was quick to accept. Silently thanking the fates that be, Blake nodded. More than anything, he wanted to avoid trouble. “I'm happy to have the two of you aboard then. The kids will be safe under our watch.”
Narcissa told Forge that the Omegas were ready when he was, and haughtily said that their outing wouldn't take very long. Blake nodded silently to that, hoping that her expectation would be the case. The longer they were out, the higher chance for mishaps. He pulled out his phone then and shot a quick text message to Bella. “Hey. Good luck out there today! Dinner tonight?
Shortly after, they headed to the mall, where the cowboy offered to buy the lady things if she needed it, so long as she didn't try to break his bank. “Just call it an early present then. ” He said, when she mentioned it not being her birthday. “We should definitely use this facade to the fullest extent then... Like you said, we need to keep appearances.” He agreed soberly as he handed her a card with no name on it.
In an effort to look normal, they meandered through the stores, starting on the upstairs – he was hoping it'd have a better view of the populace, just to scan the area. Charlotte and Roland seemed to concur with the idea, and kept up appearances. “Three southerners... just how on earth did we land up in Yankee territory?” He asked jokingly. “We'll check out what there is and order it online, that way we don't have to carry it around.” He said conversationally, eyeing the different stores as they passed by, looking for something to give him inspiration as to where the kids might have gone. They went through several stores, perusing as if they were actual shoppers. Something did strike him as they walked out of the shoe store.
The best places to mingle amongst kids and become a simple face in the sea was the arcade or the food court. In the arcade, everyone would appear in bright spirits or so focused on their game that they wouldn't be paying attention to anyone else. It'd be darker with a lot of flashing lights, making it harder for their features to be distinguishable... In Blake's eyes, it would be best place to start their search. Were he the one hiding, it'd have been one of his go-to places. “Anyone down for a round of air hockey before we actually do any shopping?” He asked as an easy way to segue into where he thought they should go. “This mall looks like it has a an extensive game room.” Flashing one of his crooked smiles in the red head's direction, he couldn't help but play up the act. “I'll even win you a teddy bear if they give out tickets.”
When they got into the arcade room, it was exactly as Blake pictured it – dimly light, noisy and full of kids. A perfect place for a pair of kids to blend in. “Which games are you two into?” He asked, pretending to check out the machines as he scanned the faces in the room. “Looks like all of the racing games are on the west side of the room.” He shrugged, letting them know that there wasn't anything there for them to pay attention to. The cowboy's hand found the small of Charlotte's back, drawing her closer to the group as he pulled out his wallet and handed her a crisp twenty dollar bill. “I think this place takes coins...Feel free to share if you think anyone looks like they are running low.” He said, figuring the group would catch the drift. It'd be easy to befriend the kids if they were here, and make it look natural if they needed some currency for the games.
Glancing up at Roland, he tilted his head toward the door. “I think we lost Levi a little bit ago... will you wave him in? He'll probably be looking for us. Then it's game on for that air hockey.” He said, indicating Leion. While he'd been lost in the shuffle after a few stores... Blake really meant for the weapons generator to keep watch. The mall would be crawling with policing MRDs, and he didn't want them here for a few more minutes. If they could find the kids first... with his experience, they'd get these kids out before anything bad happened to them. But they were on a tight schedule, with the clock already counting down.
