Shinzu laughed lightly as Keon talked and readjusted the boat. "Well I don't think the village has ever not been in need of the fighters haha." Shinzu said with a smile as he once again tried to row. There was something seriously wrong with this River... Shinzu thought as his oar got stuck again! Some big from Genin he was turning ou to be in front of this Student...

 Keon fiddled with his oar some more before getting it to move smoothly in the water. However this would only be short lived, ending with his oar literally between a rock and the hard exterior of the boat. There was a creaking noise as the boy pulled hard to free his oar from its wedged location. When he finally did he nearly flipped out of the boat with the remaining force. Rowing across this swamp was starting to be more than what was bargained for.

Batsu kept rowing along. The boy was sick to his stomach. He kept feeling these weird sense of something else being here. To make matters worse, now he wasn't feeling anything at all and it was freaking him out. The boy was damn near spooked... so much so that he ended up dropping an oar. He scrambled to try and pick it up before it fell into the swamp water and sank, which he managed to do. Good thing, because a one-oared boat was gonna be tough to manage. Quote:

Masaraku looked at the boy and said, "The Hoshigaki are also known for their short tempers." Her face was now back to its normal blue. She looked forward and grimaced as she saw the shoreline. She was not happy with the fact that she had nearly turned them full circle, nor was she happy with the Fubuki boys commentary.

However, her anger benefited her, and as she dipped the oar into the water she was thrusted backwards into the swampy depths of Kirigakure. She looked forward at the kid and said, "You seem awfully scared of the ghost twins Tenshi. Batsu's right though, they've been watching the whole time. Those boars we fought were their signature summon."

He scratched the back of his head, "Hehe... yeah... about that... you wouldn't hurt an innocent child though... right?" Her facial expression showed that she possibly would. "Ligh-" he stopped focusing on his next words, "I apologize if I have offended you in any way." From what he was gathering, it seemed the Hoshigaki didn't like their emotions pointed out in front of them. His previous words would have most likely placed him in the swamp.
When Masaraku mentioned the boars being their summons, he shivered. He had already fought off their summons and he barely did anything to them... how was he supposed to fight the twins. "Scared? Of course I'm scared. Not only are they killers who are stronger than I am, they're also ghosts! If I was half as strong as you are, perhaps I'd be a little less scared." He had to fish out the compliment, making himself less of a target of Masaraku's wrath. "I know I'm a Fubuki, but I'm barely out of the academy."

Masa rolled her eyes and thought, "He was about to say lighten up ..." But what he actually ended up saying was worse. He was making excuses for his fear. She dipped her paddle into the water and did another strong stroke, pushing her back further. "Stop it." Was all she would say until she had his silence.

Oh great... He was beginning to dread being with this female. What she said was true. He had no intentions of dying either, but she had the experience that he didn't, but he had to start somewhere. "What exactly is that mark?" He wasn't sure he would like the answer, or if she would even tell him. It wasn't like they were buddies or anything.
He placed the oar in the murky water. He thought it was going well till the oar got snagged on some reeds. He pulled and pulled until part of the handle broke off. He reached and grabbed the useful part. A few tugs later and it finally released. He held the now shorter oar in his hand, with the broken piece in the other. He shrugged his shoulders and tossed the broken piece into the water. Some creature could probably use it for something... The eerie presence returned and sent another chill though him. He didn't show the fear for the sake of his pride... whatever he had left.

No sooner then Shinzu got his oar unstuck, then it got stuck yet again. 'This river it hates me...' Shinzu thought rather gloomily as he started to work his oar to get it unstuck again. "Well... If you ever want to learn some Taijutsu techniques... I could teach you some." Shinzu said, with some grunt indersprised in it, as he kept working on getting his oar free. Keon was getting back into the feel of rowing. His oar unstuck from between the rock and the boat he pushed off it straightening out the boats path and pushing them a bit in the right direction once more. They were still having problems going perfectly straight and so far his boat-mate was still having bad luck with the muck at the bottom of the swamp. "That would be great. I've been looking to learn a new fighting style. Just randomly punching and licking my enemies is fun and all but I still lack structure. I want to devastate my targets." With that said the boy sent them surging ahead with a powerful stroke. "If your having trouble with rowing you should try to keep the oar closer to the surface. The further you dig down the higher the chance of you stabbing the murky bottom."

Batsu got himself back together and got himself back to rowing. He hated this so much and this type of exercise was not playing into any of HIS strengths at all. Still, he was damn near leading everyone else to the other side, with was quite amusing to him. But what was weird about it all was the fact that the feeling of him being watched was no longer there. Maybe they were getting tired of creeping the hell out of him... who knows. Quote:

Masa shrugged at him and said, "I don't know. Maybe I'll become the Mizukage, maybe once of the seven swordsmen, maybe I'll be empress of the entire shinobi world. I just want to be remembered a hundred years from now." She pulled her oar out of the water and looked at the kid. "I'm not content with just being another face in the crowd."
She shifted her gaze to his broken paddle and said, "You know that oar could have been fixed. Are you trying to make things harder on yourself?" She was losing faith in this kid really quick. Hopefully it wouldn't be this bad when they got to the stadium. Because if they were, she may have a dead student on her hands.

He could strive to be those things, but right now he had to worry about the academy. He had to admit being one of the seven swordsmen would be pretty awesome. Being a Mizukage would be too much paperwork and he wouldn't see any fun in it, but maybe that's what she was into. He had to think about what he wanted to do with his life. "I'm ok with just surviving for now..." He placed his oar into the water, well at least he thought he did. He didn't reach down far enough.
He looked at his oar, "I would rather concentrate on rowing than fixing something. The sooner we get to the stadium, the sooner we can get to these twins and get whatever treasure and information we can get. Of course at the rate we're going it'll take us a while." He could tell she wasn't growing too fond of him. Perhaps it was this boat and the difficulty rowing, or the suspense that was ahead that was putting everyone on edge... or was it the ominous presence of the twins?

The damn oar was still stuck! The boy wanted to get this rowing s**t done and over with, but he was having the worst luck ever. Now he was bringing up the rear when he was doing so well at the start. But after back-to-back mishaps... ugh. Poor kid. At least he was trying... even if it was getting him nowhere. But, oddly enough, the other-worldly presences were back at it again. It was like they knew about Batsu and was messing with his psyche. Quote:
