I know about the waiting period, I was the one that suggested it and it shouldn't delay my entrance into the rp. Also, only adepts and above who have not been auto-ranked and never had another bloodline (not counting the human bloodline, of course) are qualified to apply for the Bl. Unless, of course, it's been edited without me knowing. In which case you might be right.

Before I decide, what would I need to take off of my talent in order to have both talent and bloodline? I'd like to have both if possible and I'm sort of certain from experience that the things I want most from this aren't likely to be strong enough to prevent me from gaining the bloodline (although, they do sound fairly strong at first glance).

How about you answer that question for me? If we had to carve the talent down to the bones, what would you want to be in the skeleton?

I want to start with your expectations at ground floor, and we can build it from there. smile

Understood. Now, let's see. Obviously, we'll keep all the weaknesses. As for strengths....

General:
-Some fighting styles
-Some sort of reflex modifier to the speed

Energy
-Ability to sense large, wide-spread changes in energy (ex: like at the beginning of some arc)
-Ability to halve the energy cost of skills.

Void
-Resistance to a variety of energy/mental effects (ex: seduction)
-Some sort of heightened ability to hide

Chaos:
-Ability to create custom skills for chaos.
-Ability to disrupt techniques. (As op as this sounds, this is actually really hard to pull off. I've had an rpc with this talent for quite a while and she has yet to gain the experience to disrupt any skills.)

Erm.... Looking back, I haven't taken away much, have I? Although, at the same time, if I take away much more, then it'd be almost identical to another talent I made that only gave up an element.

Obviously, specific numbers are free to be adjusted as long as it isn't too crippling, please....

No, you haven't taken much away smile That's okay though, stripping it odwn like this makes it easier to manage.

Reviewing the most recent revisions to the Tempus Pailio (Which I suggest you do, as a number of things have changed), let me propose this.

The benefits you get from the General category are passive and permanent once you have unlocked it, and can be used in conjunction with the others "styles." The other categories are going to be limited to one major ability, as follows.

Energy
-Ability to halve the energy cost of skills.
(Sensing Energy in the manner you detailed is too similar to another BL's ability, the Seer.)

Void
-Some sort of heightened ability to hide

Chaos:
-Ability to create custom skills for chaos.

The ability to disrupt techniques is too much in conjunction with the Tempus Papillo Bloodline. You would be able to do it within any of your Time Abilities as it is neither dealing a killing blow or a direct attack against another person. Between that and the ability to create custom skills, you would have a considerable advantage over the majority of players.

I am taking the fact that your character is going to start at Student rank into consideration, but again we have to look at the "End-Game" abilities that would be possible as well. Given the scope and variety of all of these abilities, I will allow you to keep each field, but only have one major benefit for each.

For Void, you are welcome to pick between the Resistance and Ability to hide, but be aware that the resistance in no way will entail immunity to these effects. I'd also recommend changing the name of that field, as what's left of The Void is actually now the Plane of Shadow, and while that would provide an understandable boost to stealth it doesn't justify the resistances.

I understand that these proposed changes halves the number of abilities this talent provides, and for that I am willing to make it take a single Talent slot instead of two.

How does all this sound so far?

By benefits in the general category, do you mean the original that were in my talent or only the bare bones I listed? If it's the bare bones, then how many styles will I be allowed and how much of a speed boost can I have for the modifier?

For energy, I understand. Although.... Well, I might have something I'd like to ask if I could do depending on the answer for my question about the general category.

I'll go with the heightened ability to hide. Can I just go with what I described in my original or do you want me to make a weaker version? And about your suggestion of changing the name, I don't understand. What's this Plane of Shadow? More importantly, do I have to? I kind of like the word void sweatdrop .

I understand for chaos. Just to be sure, that'll mean all of the sample skills I presented except for Chaos Sphere are allowed?

Because I am stripping powers from the other categories, you may have the full benefits of the General group, excepting the limit to fighting styles, which should be 4; 5 at the most.

Is that satisfactory, or would you like to make that inquiry regarding the Energy category?

Regarding The Void, you don't have to change it; I like "Void" too, but it would help so that people are less confused when we get more into the Mythos of the other planes. Plane of Shadow hasn't been explained much, but its an intrinsic part of the Dark Avenger class. IF you want to read that, it may shed some light on the subject. If you wanted to change the name, given how the abilities are used, you could go with "Suppressor" or something of the like. As for the abilities, will you elaborate on how the skill is used as "an escape mechanism?" Reading it, it doesn't really sound like Nix can escape, but it makes her hard to detect if she puts distance between herself and the energy sensor. Is that right?

Regarding the Chaos skills, all but the Chaos Sphere are permitted, but I would like you to give a concrete area of affect for Chaos Zone. Maybe make it increase by rank. Please remember that you'll have to pass all the custom skills through the Custom Skills thread.

Understood.

Umm.... Well.... I thought about it but now I'm not so sure but.... Well, let's start with this question, if I wanted to learn some energy-related skills that aren't part of what I'm already allowed to learn would I need to give up anything? If so, what would I need to give up? I understand if it's impossible, though sweatdrop .

Hm, I have no will to change the name, so I'll keep it as it is 3nodding . Also, yes, the "escape mechanism" is actually something that helps escape rather than automatically has Nix escape.

Alright, I understand about the chaos skills.

That would be up to the discretion of the Custom Skills moderator, but I strongly recommend that if there are any Energy based skills you want to have access to you provide them now, with your talent. Depending on their power, you may have to take some small hits somewhere or another, or you won't if you do a solid job of balancing out the abilities smile All a matter of what's on the table.

Well, what I was considering was all or just a part (more likely a part) of the skill range I suggested in my original talent. This included...

  • D-rank and below energy-only skills from any class (currently, the marines have one, hunters have four, spellslingers have 2, mages have 2 or 3, gunners have one and only the lowest level of that one skill, monks have 3 or 4 of these skills; altogether, 13 skills). This refers to skills that only require energy. So stuff like the monk's sensing chi, which deals with energy along with a trait shared by all monks, can't be learned.
  • A-rank and below skills of the Mind-Blader class but with only up to Journeyman strength. Although, after reading through the class again, I'm not too sure why I included them.... I think it was because I just skimmed through and so wrongly assumed that the weapons/objects that were being referred to were completely made out of energy?
  • Custom-made energy skills. They would essentially be a lot like the skills of the mind-blader/mage/spellslinger classes but nowhere near as strong/devastating (at least, not in the higher ranks; lower ranks would likely be similar) and based only on energy (for instance, the only similarity with the mind-blader class would be the result; rather than controlling and hardening already-existing weapons, blades of energy would be used resulting in weaker attacks for more energy since all that's attacking is energy).

Erm.... Yeah, I think I'll just put up my options for now so you can kind of see what I mean? I'll create examples of custom energy skills later if you need them, but yeah.... The above is generally what I meant. I know that trying to get all of them isn't possible, but I'd just like something a bit more than fighting styles to get me through the ranks up to expert sweatdrop .

BLARGH! I'm sorry, my eyes and yellow on white don't do well together. I overlooked part of the Skills without realizing it sweatdrop

I'm going to have to deny the ability to mimic cross-class and Mind Blader abilities. The reason being that being able to use other class's abilities has always been a very controversial issue, and previous talent that were submitted to try and mimic class abilities were also declined. Given that you are taking this talent in lieu of having a Class, it's also a work-around to not having the benefits of a class and contributes back to that "Jack of All Trades" pseudo-class I mentioned earlier.

That being said, you may make up to 15 Custom Energy based skills, the rank and powers of each skill remaining at your discretion. They must be passed through Custom Skills for approval, and those skills that are not Trainee Rank must be learned through spending the alotted post count, just like all other skills. These custom skills CAN be similar to those skills you mentioned in the above classes, but they must also be decidedly unique to Nix. These skills may benefit from the halved energy attribute your talent provides, but bear in mind Elemental skills and any physical abilities you may make at a later date will still cost the full energy usage.

In exchange for the ability to make and use these custom skills, please adjust the Stamina drops for Nix due to energy consumption to 50% and 20%. The point penalties for each may remain the same.

EDIT: Upon further consideration, any physical skills you might make can also benefit from the reduced energy cost.

Eheh, no problem. I understand. My bad for using the color sweatdrop .

Alright, I understand and kind of expected that response 3nodding .

15? I can work with that I think whee .
Elemental skills? Nix can't use any elements.... I'm sure I included that in the weaknesses, didn't I?

Ouch.... Those increased percentages look painful, but.... Hm, I'll get back to you on whether or not I'll "scream shenanigans" (yes, I did see the first version of your post xp ) on those after I think through them in my math class sweatdrop . Although, me screaming shenanigans will most likely involve less screaming and more gaining a headache by myself....

The reason for their increase is because all of your Energy based skills only require half the Energy. So technically you are still going to hit 50% around the same time as you would reach 20-25% if they required full energy. The one point drop at 50 is also marginal, and typical of many class and custom abilities that have similar penalties. Hopefully you will take that into consideration

EDIT: Right... you don't have an Element. Sorry >_> We've been talking about this for a while. You may increase your Custom Skill limit to 20.

I understand. Instead of gaining five extra skills, though, can I just retain the 15 skills that were originally suggested but keep my stat drops at when I have 20% and 10% energy?

If that is a no, then I suppose I'll go along with your latest suggestion and post up the edited version of the talent sweatdrop .

Please increase the thresholds for the stat penalties. I'll allow you to modify the proposed 50% mark to 40%, but if you really want to keep the energy penalties where they are I expect you to forfeit the ability to use any skill for half of the energy.

I hope that doesn't sound unfair, but like I said, we're pushing for more balanced play, and stacking cheap energy costs with a weakness that would only kick in after Nix has used nearly twice as many skills as another character is a little slanted.

Alright thresholds have been increased.
I hope I've edited everything properly? If I haven't, then sorry for missing it. I'll fix it sweatdrop .

Rpc Name: Nix A
Rpc Profile Link: None yet as the profile heavily depends on whether or not this custom is approved.
Your Customs Thread: http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=22272731
Rpc Rank: Student
Combative Talent or Non Combative: Combative

Description

Within Nix, the opposing essences of void and energy are present, their very presence creating the third force of chaos. With such a volatile balance within the girl, Nix's abilities differed greatly from others, forcing her to forge her own path as she uncovered weaknesses and strengths that most others don't have. This discovery is facilitated by her progress through her talent. While all weaknesses are constantly active regardless of her level, Nix is unable to access the strengths of her talent until reaching the proper rank:
    Student- General
    Trainee- Energy
    Adept- Void
    Expert- Chaos

  • General
Nix's body is naturally built for speed, her stature somewhat smaller and more fragile than the average body, which is partly due to the chaos that weakens the physical strength of her body from within. Other than the usual class specifications, the volatile array of energy, void, and chaos within Nix also shows physical manifestations that represent just how uncontrollable the combination can be at times. The majority of these physical side-effects prove to be negative but there are some indirect positive consequences.
Strengths: Nix has a +1 base speed stat with a +2 situational modifier whenever she performs an action relying on reflexes (ex: dodging). Additionally, her inability to completely master any particular skill set gives her a wider than average range of fighting styles than most. She can master up to five fighting (including hand-to-hand, shields, guns, close-range, and long-range) styles. Her inability to use her right eye without negative consequences on her body has also indirectly caused Nix to be able to use energy to sense her surroundings through a combination of minor energy detection, her five senses, and instinct. All this does is negate Nix lack of depth perception with only one eye.
Weaknesses: Most importantly, Nix can have neither a class nor an element; her naturally volatile nature prevents any sort of specialization in the normal methods. On more specific aspects, just as Nix's light body is built for speed, it is definitely not built for strength with a -1 base strength; even the strength/defense bonuses from hand-to-hand styles are halved. Likewise, the girl cannot wield any heavy weaponry or wear any heavy armor; along with heavy armor, she is unable to use any armor that requires special training to use. Additionally, the volatile balance of energy, chaos, and void creates a number of negative side-effects (explained more in the chaos section).

  • Energy
While energy is naturally found in all beings, Nix has an abnormally pure store within her. This pure store of energy allows the girl to perform attacks with her store of energy. However, this energy is simply condensed, allowing her to use less energy for most skills. In fact, Nix actually has less energy than most other people thanks to another attribute.
Strengths: Nix's highly condensed energy allows her to pull off any and all skills with only half of the required energy (when needed, round up). She can also create and use her own, personal energy-related skills (up to 20).
Weaknesses: Because her energy is so concentrated, Nix's stamina, which is considerably less than the average, is naturally supported by her energy pool. Speed and strength are both lowered by one (3/5) when Nix has only 40% of her energy left and then are lowered once more by one (2/4) when she has only 20% of her energy left.

  • Void
The void in Nix takes up a part of the space that energy would normally take up in a being. This void has a peculiar relationship with her energy. While causing the energy to condense and become stronger the void also opposes the energy and creates a constant state of chaos with Nix.
Strengths: Nix's void-tainted aura allows her to excel in hiding and sneaking, with the sounds, smells, energy, and anything else she emits being considerably deadened by her aura. Often times, her very presence is so dulled that people fail to notice that she is in a room until they see her directly. To supplement this transparent aura, the girl also has practiced the art of misdirection, making it even harder to notice her. Most of the time, Nix uses her void to passively and automatically hide her energy whenever she is not fighting, using a skill, or attacking in any way. This talent is mainly useful as a maneuver to sneak past an energy sensor. However, it can also be used to help escaping during a battle if Nix manages to get over two meters away from the energy sensor (out of their line of sight as well) and stays that far away as she escapes (distance does not matter out of combat). Nix can also hide specific portions of her energy rather than all of it, making it possible to fool people of her rank by only allowing a certain amount of energy to go through. The only weak spot of this ability to hide her presence is when Nix faces a seer at least one rank higher than her. At that level, the seer will be able to see Nix's energy no matter how hard she tries to hide it. Although, the only information they will be able to discover with their Sight even then will only consist of name, bloodline, class, rank, nation of origin, weapons, and abilities of special weapons.
Weaknesses: On the downside, Nix's relation to void gives her a lower total energy than most, about 3/4 of the average amount (when needed, round up). It is also what indirectly causes her lack of strength. With void taking up some of the area that energy is supposed to take up, Nix is forced to have less energy, thus she has a smaller store of energy, lower stamina (explained more in the energy section), and lower strength/defense (explained more in the general section).

  • Chaos
Chaos is the product of the interaction of void and energy, two opposites. Nonsensical at it's most logical, uncontrollable when it's most tame, chaos is indefinable. At most, it can only mess things up, a randomizer, but because that is it's only skill, it can do so much more. Most people are unused to chaos within their body--whereas Nix has always lived with chaos within her body--and so when it is introduced they are unable to fight back, leading to something or other happening. Even when resistance is built, it is only temporary.
Strengths: Chaos causes disruption and as anyone who fights seriously knows, the slightest disruption can change the entire course of a battle. Nix is able to create this chaos and use it in various skills. Additionally, her ability to use chaos makes her passively immune to any chaos skills used against her.
Weaknesses: While Nix's body is used to the chaos, that doesn't mean that she remains unscathed by its presence. The human body is not meant to house chaos, so Nix is affected negatively in several ways. The most seen and already mentioned is her inability to use her right eye. Although it can see perfectly fine, whenever Nix uses her right eye, energy leaks out of it (for every post the right eye sees, lose 10 energy points) and so she usually covers it with a bandage that doesn't allow the eye to be used at all. While this doesn't hinder her depth-perception because she's learned ways to handle that problem, it does leave a large blind spot on Nix's right side, forcing the girl to use only instinct and her other senses to predict an attack coming from that direction. The chaos in Nix's body even affects her speech, preventing her from knowingly telling a single lie. While the specifics are unknown, what is known is that whenever Nix tries to tell an outright lie (half-truths and word-plays are alright), she begins to feel nauseous and ends up blurting out the truth whenever she pushes herself too hard. While being unable to lie is bothersome, it isn't the most dangerous hindrance. No, the most dangerous is probably Nix's reaction to blood. When she is calm, she can usually handle seeing minimal to moderate amounts of blood but immediately freezes over anything more. When not calm (ex: in battle), the problem gets worse and anything more than the amount of blood shown from a light wound leaves Nix in a helpless state of shock. There is some reprieve, though, as she is not affected by seeing her own blood and only the sight of blood as it is normally seen by the human eye badly affects her (smelling, hearing, tasting, feeling, and sensing blood in any other way, including seeing in infrared vision and such, are fine). The only plausible explanation for this out-of-the-blue weakness is a combination of a natural dislike of blood, something or other in her forgotten past, and the volatile nature of her own aura. Strangely enough, when frozen/shocked by blood, the girl's expression isn't one of horror; instead, it can be best described as emotionless, as if it's trying to shut something out.

    Skills
I'll probably end up making a lot more but, so far, this is what I have.
    Kagetsukiko
    Skill name: Chaotic Energy
    Rank: -
    Type: Chaos
Limits: Must know at least three chaos skills.
Skill description: A passive skill that comes naturally after learning at least three chaos skills, Chaotic Energy is present when the chaos within the user reaches the point where it effects the way their energy is seen. It causes the energy to relay absolutely no concrete information (ex: class, rank, color). Energy sensors will still be able to sense the affected person's energy. However, the energy will be such a mixed up mess that they will be unable to extract any information out of it and won't even be able to recognize it in the future once they lose it. At most, they will know that something is unusual with the user. However, what this abnormality is will be unknown as the messed-up patterns of energy hint at nothing. Even something as harmless as energy color is prevented from remaining stable.
Sample: Without fear, Nix passed by the notorious sin hunter. Even when he glanced suspiciously at the girl, she made no sign of fear. She knew that he would soon turn away, and he did turn away. Her energy was interesting, she wouldn't deny that. However, it was also nothing like that of a sin host, or anything else for that matter.

    Skill name: Chaotic Blood
    Rank: -
    Type: Chaos
Limits: Must know at least five chaos skills.
Skill description: A passive skill that comes naturally after learning at least five chaos skills, Chaotic Blood is present when the chaos within the user starts to seep into the blood. It causes the blood to distort itself constantly. This leads to a scent that constantly changes (the smell of blood within a body is part of a mix of scents that creates someone's overall scent). Additionally, the taste of the blood constantly changes as well; although, the blood will remain as the blood of the user's race.
Sample: Nix walked casually through the cloud. Someone was tailing her, she knew it. However, she also knew that the person who was tailing her wasn't doing a very good job at it. They were relying on scent, and couldn't seem to pick up the scent of Nix that he was certain he had managed to pick up.

    Skill name:Visual Distortion
    Rank: D
    Type: Chaos
    Limits: n/a
Skill description: A simple skill that requires at least one post of direct eye contact with the target. After the eye contact has been established, the user can cause the target's vision to distort but so slightly that nothing seems wrong at first. It is only when the target starts to move that they begin to realize that something was done to them. Visual Distortion causes the target's vision to shift slightly so that things that they perceive as directly in front of them are actually somewhat to either side. The direction of the shift is random and constantly changing even during the duration of the skill, which lasts for five posts. This often results in bumps and crashes with the surroundings and the inability to hit anything.
Sample: "Whad'ya say?!" the drunkard asked roughly as he rudely picked Nix up by the collar of her coat. The movement caused her hood to fall down, revealing her eyes. Of course, Nix hadn't said anything, but the man was drunk and probably hearing things. Really, she didn't want to deal with this. If it was with someone sober, the girl would have endured, but she somehow knew (blame her habit of solving things without thinking) that she would need to trouble herself to bring less trouble to herself, something she disliked doing even before becoming the host of Sloth. Since her face was already revealed, the girl efficiently took advantage of the situation and made eye contact with her target. Dumbly, the drunkard also stared into the girl's eyes for about a minute before shouting, "S'op looking ya-!". However, he was stopped short by a fall he brought upon himself. The man had aimed an unbalanced punch straight at what he thought was Nix's face, when really he was aiming about an inch or two from her. The punch carried him over and caused him to crash into the table. Nix, meanwhile, had managed to extricate herself somehow or other before crashing with the rude man and was standing beside him, unharmed. She put her hood back over her head.

    Skill name: Chaos Zone (Basic)
    Rank: D
    Type: Chaos
    Limits: n/a
Skill description: The most basic of the Chaos Zones, this skill simply primes the area for the use of other chaos skills with a pulse of chaos that seeps into the surrounding ground, air, water, objects, etc.. For ten posts, all chaos skills used in the thread that this skill was used are one rank stronger while also being cheaper to use by one rank.
Sample: Nix took a look at her opponent, and one of the pieces of information she analyzed was that he was definitely one or two ranks stronger than her. Well, that made her decision for her. With a controlled release, the girl sent an invisible pulse out in all directions. In no time, the entire area was steeped in chaos, even though nothing seemed different. Nix was ready.

Rp Sample:
Nix stayed absolutely still in the trees, her breathing rhythmic and controlled, as she watched her target. If it weren't for her strange aura, which deadened the noises that her body naturally made, she would have been found ages ago just by the sound of her heartbeat judging from the sensitive ear that the boy displayed. With such sensitive hearing, Nix knew that even she would need to put extra effort into sneaking around. A snapped branch was much louder than a beating heart and even with her knack for remaining hidden, the boy would notice it.

However, at the same time, it wasn't like Nix could remain hidden for forever. Sooner or later, she'd take a wrong step and her presence would be revealed. Furthermore, there was no merit in continuing to trail her target like this. It was either she attack him now or he attack her later. Judging from her calculations, she was far better off by using her current advantage of a sneak attack than not using it. the girl wondered as she tried to find the least obvious attack she could go through with, With that thought, the girl slowly and quietly pulled a dagger from its sheathe. Still, her target failed to realize that he was being followed; at least, he seemed to. Then, without a moment's hesitation, Nix threw the dagger at her opponent's head as she came out of her cover.

the girl figured as the boy defended and counterattacked with a speed that only meant he had heard Nix a while ago. Nix, being in mid-air, couldn't dodge in time, so she created a wall of energy out of thin air to block the sword even as she moved closer. The target kept his calm like any good fighter and summoned another of his weapons, this time closer to him. "Tch," was all the girl said as she dodged the attack by the katana, both of her feet were on the ground now so she could maneuver freely. Once more the katana came at Nix and she did her best to block it with a dagger (her second) she had just pulled out. However, her strength was easily outmatched and she was pushed back. The Mind Blader took note of this fact and eagerly advanced.

Nix noticed the thought process of her opponent and blocked again. Her arms quavered once more, but this time she actually wanted them to shake and seem weak. The mind-blader eagerly pushed in. Little by little, Nix was forced to give up until his face was mere inches from hers. That was exactly what the girl wanted. With the chaos-oriented Visual Distortion skill the girl messed up her target's vision without him noticing. One last push and he had broken Nix's defense… but missed her completely. His sword was aimed at her left rather than her center, giving the girl the opportunity to dodge and point a metal needle at the boy's neck.
Battle done, Nix allowed herself a smile, "Checkmate?".
"Yeah yeah, you won," the boy grumbled as he raised a hand and announced, "I forfeit."
Nix deactivated the blade just as the intercom came on, "Nix A has won match 1-A of the exams. Please proceed to the proper exits. Further instructions will be given upon exiting."
