Hello everyone! Sorry for the long absence. The concert was Mayhem Festival in San Diego exclusively for metal fans. It was incredible, the music was so....rockbangingly awesome! (Yes, I know that is not a word) I saw tons of local bands which I loved Walls of Jericho because the lead singer was a chick! The main bands were Mastodon, Dragonforce, Disturbed and Slipknot. Mastodon was alright, Dragonforce was as awesome as ever, I love through the fires and flames. Disturbed was like wow, I was in awe, I sang to every single one of their songs and the lead singer was so incredible and had so much charisma that I was taking in, which included me throwing out the devil horns in the air, pumping my fists and screaming my lungs out, of course with jumping too. Im actually pretty surprised that I got so into the performance. Slipknot played last and was so freaking scary, I only knew like 3 songs and they were awesome of course like vermillion, but the rest I didn't know but it was okay because I just let myself into the whole metal-ness of the performance. The only thing that bothered me was the whole smoking thing, since I have asthma, all those cigarettes around me was not good but I had no choice but to deal with it, since smoking comes with the whole package. Also the people right next to me were smoking pot and I obviously didn't like that, I also think that smoking those fumes not by my choice maybe let me get loose enough to act like a crazy metal chick! twisted Anyways I did get sunburned and I was happy that my boyfriend was there but I did enjoy myself.

Wow that was a long paragraph, I'm excited because I'm going to comic-con this Friday. Have any of you seen Avatar? The show ended already and it was amazing but I'm still sad because it means the end of that series, I was 15 when I started watching it. Kitsune congrats on getting that scholarship! I hope that the x-box 360 is as awesome as it looks. Welcome to all the new Ravenclaws! Congrats on those getting into second year! Am I missing anything? By the way Kitsune that sacrifice series is so good, even though I'm not a harry/draco slasher, the writer wrote it in a way that makes it seem plausible and good to read. I'm usually a Snarry shipper, I know it sounds gross but when Harry is an adult, the possibilities are endless.

I love my NDS lite, the world ends with you is an awesome game (created by the same creators who made Kingdom hearts series, and professor layton is good because it is pure puzzles, good for us Ravenclaws, eh? I'm so excited for Breaking dawn, I'm re-reading New Moon right now. For some reason, I can't get into The host. Its too slow to start with and hasn't captivated my interest.
Has anyone watched Desperate Housewives? My best friend lex lent me season 1 and I just finished watching it and I'm totally engrossed by the whole plot. I can't wait to get my hands on season 2. I especially love the whole, "I'm not gay, I swear!" scene and line. xp

What?? Avatar ended already?? O.O NOO! crying I was hoping for the fourth season! Ahh... That's not how I planned it. xD I hope to get the rest of the episodes soon (since the 10th of July we have Nickelodeon in Poland but it probably will take ages to show all the previous episodes of Avatar so... yeah... plus I'm pretty addicted to that show and I can't imagine waiting so long and then watching it dubbed in Polish V_V' blah) . Yesterday I was watching the 11th or 12th episode of the 3rd season (two parts of the Day of the Black Sun) and I was like (warning - spoiler ahead ^^') "I knew it! I knew that Zuko will be the good guy afterall!". xD Ah, this show amuses me so much... ^_^

Remus Lupus, Draco Malfang, Ronald (Ronny) Wiltersen, Albus Humlesnurr, Severus Slur, Sirius Svaart, Bellatrix DeMons. xD;;

You guessed quite a big number of them right, Turayza!

Humle means bumblebee.. And snurr means twirl. Bumbletwirl. -Laughs-

Tom Riddle has turned to Tom Venster. But the Danish version of Tom Riddle is the best of them all! Who would've thought that the Dark Lords real name was "Romeo"? -laughs-

Awww.. I want a Nintendo DS too! I'm so jealous, Fivienne! ^^

I remember that my friend had the good ol' GameBoy. The only portable console I had was a GameBoy Color. And now, I want a DS and a PSP! -Pouts-

And thank you, Paraphernalia! ^^ And I agree with you on the Sacrifice series. I'm not much of a huge HPDM shipper myself, but if the plot is good, I read almost everything. Heck, I even read a HPGW, because the plot was so good, even though I despite that pairing! xD;

(I hate that it's cannon... It's like... incest. D: )

I don't think Snarry sounds gross. It's not my prefered pairing, but it's okay. But then again, I hardly find anything gross.. Okay, maybe that Harry/Dumbledore I came across once is a bit over the top..

Since you're a Snarry shipper, I have to recommend The Marriage Stone written by the talented Josephine Darcy for you! ^^

Today, I just started reading a Norwegian book series. My steph-father has talked a lot about it, and the guy's read the story through several times. And seeing as it is so long, it has to be really good if someone bothers to read it through several times! o.o

I've read the first four chapters, and I have to say, I really like it! It's called "Sagaen om Isfolket" and the English title is "The Legend of the Ice People".

It is 47 books! o.o

How the author bothered to write that many, I have no idea.. -Rubs hand- The cramps! Owie.. >.<

Whoa, lots of posts o__O
Fireinthenight--welcome to Ravenclaw, and great answer XD
XD I have a DS, but it's the earliest version...all the games got repetative, and now only my little brother plays on it XD
Para: glad you had fun! I've never been to a non-classical concert -feellikeanerd- but that sounds great ^ ^
Erghh. I always feel really immature when I do it, but as a extremely-afraid-of-cancer freak I always hold my breath around smokers rofl
Really? I thought The Host was better than the Twilight series :/
Avatar like...the elements one?
Hrm...I have to say I prefer the same-generation relationships--slash or not.
47 books...-tips over-

I just finished watching the Avatar... And it is like the best ending ever...? ;_; *is moved to tears* Ah, apart from the fact that May is an awful partner to spend a life with... The end was just as I wanted it to be, or even better. I think this show can teach one a lesson or two. Well, I feel pretty enlightened even if it sounds quite funny, even to me. It was a long time since I've seen such great series. Really, really great.

Oh, by the way, I don't know if I am right, but I think that there must be an epilogue to this or something. Afterall there's still Zuko's mother somewhere out there. I bet he want, and will, find her. But where? How? Maybe a movie will show up on the horizon to dissolve all these doubts. At least I hope so...

Aaanyway... ^_^

Yeah, Turayza, I mean that elements' stuff. xD Oh, this "Legend of the Ice People" was pretty popular some time ago in Poland. I believe they have recently started reprinting it.

Thanks Turayza! I did have fun, don't worry you're not a nerd. Its just that I'm a nerd that likes non-nerd stuff with non-nerdy friends? Does that make sense? Thanks Kitsune! I've currently reading that fanfic, I left it for like 3 months and I have to catch up like 25 chaps or so! Eww and you're right Harry/Dumbledore is a bit too much. I hate that pairing too, Harry and Hermione are definately like bros and sisters. I'm glad that you like the Avatar ending Fivienne! I liked it too and I know that they have to make a spin off about Zuko finding his mum. My friend and I thought that Katara and Zuko deserved to be together. The last scene with aang and katara bugged us. xp 45 books is like wow! I couldn't imagine reading all of them or just thinking of writing them. emo I find the pendragon series hard enough to finish much less more than 10 books. I don't know Turayza, maybe I need to get into my reading mode to be able to get past pg. 100. I did make it to 115. Does it get more exciting in the end?
PostPosted: Tue Jul 22, 2008 7:21 pm

-Grins- I think the series has sold over 2 million copies. And I believe that is only in Scandinavia! ^^

Bah... The only book I have is number 20-something. I have to wait for my step-father to visit his parents before I get to read the first and up. D:

Well Fivenne, I recommend it! I've only heard fantastic things about it, and what I've read, is really good. ;3

I heard that the author had to take a break from writing it for a while, because the characters were starting to look so alive to her. She wrote several books a year, and the speed was astonishing! She said that it was like the books wrote itself.

The reason she took the break was because she started having illusions of her characters talking to her.. o.o

The author was a bit psychic. as a child, she saw a tree that wasn't really there, with a dead man hanging in it. She later discovered that there had been a tree there before, and that a man hung himself there a hundred years earlier. Freaky, no? O:

Bah, another thing I find funny with the series, is that it takes place in Norway, and later, also in Denmark. It's not often that we poor Scandinavians get something so big happening in our country, fiction or otherwise! emo

And Paraphernalia, would you mind giving me a small summery of the Pendragon series? :3

D: I haven't watched Avatar yet. -Shifty eyes- I need to find the time to do so.. I know that a friend of mine has a channel which shows Avatar, but it's a Viasat channel... And we don't have Visast! We only have cabel TV and Digital TV. emo

I see. Is that series in english? Do you think they sell it here in the US? What is vizast by the way? You could always watch it on veoh.com. Im glad that there is things that became so famous that is happening in Scandinavia. In my senior year in high school, I had a foreign exchange friend from Sweden. She was pretty awesome. Well the Pendragon series is about a normal, average 12 year old boy named Bobby Pendragon who one night his whole life is changed forever and will never be the same again. His uncle press whisks him away to become a traveler between territories. He and his uncle are the travelers of second earth and their job is to keep the balance between all 10 territories. Unfortunately for them, there is Saint Dane; his whole ambition in life is to bring the territories into chaos. Bobby, Uncle Press and the help of two other travelers from Zadaa have to stop Saint Dane from bringing a medieval world called Denduron into madness and chaos. The first book in the series is Merchant of Death I, is that a good enough summary for you? I didn't want to tell you the whole series because that would ruin the whole thing completely. I hope you look into the series, its very fast paced and action type of a book. Its supposed to be for children but obviously its good for all ages. Kind of like Harry Potter. Has anyone read, A series of unfortunate events? What happens in the last 2 books? I'm too lazy to go out and buy them.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 23, 2008 7:15 am

I do believe that at the very least, the first volumes have been translated to English. Or perhaps the entire series has!

I have no idea whether they are being sold in the States. Perhaps they have been sold, or perhaps not... you could always ask in the library, or order online. -Grins-

I'm going to exchange next year! ^^ Though it won't be to the United States.. I did consider going there for a while though. But in the end, my mum said that it was so far away from home, so I'm going to the UK so that I can get home during Christmas.

The Pendragon series sounds exciting! Now I have to add it to my "To-Read" list. And yes, I do have such a list! -Cackles-

It was a great summary Paraphernalia! ^^ An excellent one! biggrin

Thanks! Wow, you're going on exchange next year! To the UK no less, I'm jealous. I would love to go on exchange to the UK. What is the series called and what is the authors name so that I can check it out? And yes, I also have a To- Read list. I'm going on exchange next summer to Spain. I'm super excited and nervous because I have never been to another continent before and never been on an airplane for more than 5 hours. Also, I will be by myself in a foreign country, knowing no one. But isn't that what exchange is all about? To open your horizons. In 2 years, my family and I are going on a trip to Italy. I really want to go to Japan though.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 23, 2008 4:05 pm

Yeah, I know! I can hardly wait! ^^ I've only been in the UK once, and then we were only in London for a week. Biggest city I've ever seen in my entire life! It will also improve my spoken English and advance my vocabulary. -Happy-

The series is called "The Legend of the Ice People" by "Margit Sandemo".

Yes, these "To Read" lists are very effective! O: It keeps my normally occupied mind from having to strain itself to remember. -Grins-

Ah! I've never been to Spain. I want to go to Spain. D: But in Spain, it's way too hot... I'd never go there during the summer.. and neither to California, for that matter. I'd melt! ^^

I've never been to another continent either. Always been inside Europe.. o.o I've never been on an airplane for more then 2 and a half hour, and that was in 2001 when we went to Greece..

Yeah, I know. That's another reason why my mum didn't want me to exchange to the State. I'm very shy, and don't have an easy time making friends. sweatdrop

Oh! So lucky! I want to go to Italy... The old buildnings.. Such a fantastic architecture! -Sighs dreamingly-

I'm going to Japan one day. It's just a wish. I've decided, I'm going to Japan someday! ^^ I was tempted to exchange to Japan, but then it hit me... The extremely long school days and high standards... xD; Sure, we in Norway has a higher standard then plenty American schools, but still.. o.o I've heard that the Japanese has some of the highest standards in the world.. <.<

But when I'm going, it's gonna be when it's spring over there. Sakura blossoms in full bloom! ^^

I haven't watched The Avatar in nearly a year sweatdrop
I can never find it on TV, and it's immensely long...
I don't remember the Pendragon series that much--aren't they individual books? I always thought the covers were creepy (XD) but the stories weren't that great.
How many books are there in A Series of Unfortunate Events? I bought the 13th a longgg time ago, and stopped looking for them ^ ^'
Oh wow--Kitsune, you'll have to tell us all about the stuff there ^ ^ Which part are you palnning to go to?
Oooh. I really want to go to Spain whee There's an exchange program at my school that gives French-learning students a chance to go to France, and a few of my friends went there over winter break. I've been taking Spanish (T__T They don't have anywhere for us to go, not even Mexico) so I've been trying to plan something like that. =D
When you do go to Japan, make sure to go to a pharmacy! (One of those really big ones). (You might want to bring a dictionary XD). They have reallyyyy cool items (I'm not sure if they've got them in Europe, but the States definitely doesn't have them) like edible perfume--you eat a candy-thing and it makes you smell like strawberries for hours--and eye drops that smell good (I'm not too sure about the purpose for this one...). There's also this stuff that's like Vaseline, but organically made.
There are too many languages out there T__T Especially Europe--just visiting a small portion would require a ton of dictionaries .__.'

turayza, gorgeous prefect banner! R/L is a bit crazed now, so I've been multi-tasking for days now! New super cute puppy next door, Dottie the chihuahua-dachshund mix, friends in town from New Mexico, clients keeping me crazy busy, and also I was in a focus group for IKEA, which wanted opinions on humanitarian and environmental projects. Plus I need the time to read the rest of the Twilight series!

*deep breath* Anyway, just a few more days to go for House Appreciation - how bout some more entries? I get to pick 5 people/winners to send on to the grand raffle and we don't have any Contest #5 entries. And darn few Contest 1, 3, and 4 also!

Since we're currently LAST in the House Cup, each House Appreciation winner gets 5 points. Not only does this help your house, it helps YOU as the most house points winners get prizes at the next cup, plus a chance NOW at the House Appreciation Grand Prize- Demonic Bracelets or Gwee or Snow Yeti anyone?

Also for any of you Tek-Tek witches or wizards, there are points given for creating the best Slughorn Avi and/or the best Snape Avi as well...

Rules for all the House Appreciation contests may be found
here: http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=12788155.

Remember to post this image in your entry so I can spot your post as an entry easily:

We are doing rather miserably in the House Cup, aren't we...
