"Mother, please." "Marcos, would you just look at your bag? It's so dusty, when was the last time you ever took care of your things? I cannot believe I'm going to leave you at a boarding school to fend for yourself when you can barely survive at home with us." "Goodbye, mother." "Please button up that shirt, you look like a hoodlum." "Leave the boy alone," Marcos's stepfather called from the car. "He looks fine. Don't cause too much trouble, son, your mother has enough gray hair." "Don't even say that," his mother spat, "or you'll be out of the house too."
The car drove off until their conversation was incomprehensible. Marcos slung his huge backpack over his shoulder and let his bag roll behind him. Next to him a girl with slightly pointed ears and another boy were walking toward the entrance, so instead of looking like some tourist, he trailed behind them with the face of one who knew what he was getting into. There was no one at the front desk, but there were a stack of papers labeled "New Students." Marcos took the chance and looked at the top of the stack, finding his name almost instantly. His classes and dorm number were there, black and white, along with a congratulations and thank you letter from the Headmaster. He smiled to himself and turned toward the girl's profile. "Excuse me," he said, not waiting until she turned. "Could you please help me find my room? This place is so ******** huge and I don't want to get lost on my first day." He revealed his signature pearly whites that could only have come from someone before him.

{{I looked at it after I posted the last time. smile She'd probably recognize his eyes and smile, right? And just an air about him that would be familiar. His dark fluffy hair would be somewhat familiar, too. If I do something wrong in this next post, just let me know and I'll fix it! smile }}
Lin had stopped walking for a moment when she had gone inside the school and was in the front entrance area. The breath had caught in her throat and she felt a familiar tingling sensation all throughout her body. It was almost like a rush of life had flooded into her. What was the cause of that?
She heard someone talking to her and she turned around to address him, and to also point out his crude choice of words. When she saw him, though, her eyes widened and she gasped softly once again. His eyes looked so familiar and so did his smile. Even his hair reminded her of someone she had once known. Her mind wasn't working, though. It either didn't completely remember who this person was, or it didn't want to allow Lin to remember.
"Uh.. Oh I am sorry. Please, excuse my starting. You just look... Well, once again, I am sorry."
She blushed slightly but couldn't tear her eyes away from the individual standing before her.
"I am an exchange student here from Bai Ching. My name is Lin Yin and I will be happy to show you around. I can simply help you find your room, or I can give you a quick tour. The choice is yours."
She held out her hand to him to shake in greeting.

Marcos's face mirrored Lin's as he soaked in the image of her. In a matter of seconds his mind was tangled with thoughts of holding her in his arms, caressing her, blushing around her and the impossible need of her. He dragged his disorientated mind back to reality and addressed her own confusion. "I understand the feeling." He listened to her introduction with faint déjà vu. "I'll appreciate it if you give me a quick tour. Would your friend be coming along?" he asked, a twinge of hope that he wouldn't. He had a feeling about this girl that he couldn't ignore. As his hand touched hers, he understood the feeling was mutual.
((In all honesty, he is supposed to strikingly resemble Dymetri, except younger and with the flush of a human-- not so pale.))

As soon as the man's hand touched hers, a flash of images filled Lin's mind. All of the images were of Dymetri. She was fighting with him in the cafeteria one early morning. She was sitting in Starbucks, drinking her first cup of coffee with Dymetri sitting next to her and smirking. She was walking along with him across the ocean.
The images kept flashing in her mind, going faster and faster as time passed. She saw the many times he had held her and the many times they had shared stolen kisses. She even saw the time she had disguised herself as a student for one of his classes.
The image of his death did not accompany the other memories, thankfully. It was just the happy ones. And when Lin's mind came back to the present, she saw Dymetri before her now, in the flesh. He was standing before her! He hadn't died! Maybe the professors had gone back to save him when she had been healing from her grief at Bai Ching!
Lin's eyes immediately filled with tears and one slipped down her cheek. When she spoke, her voice broke slightly. "Dym... Dymetri?"

((Lin's mind isn't tampered. Marcos's is because his soul is Dymetri.))
Imagine the feeling of being called by your birth certificate name at school, at work, with your friends. But as soon as you're surrounded by your mother, your father, your childhood sweetheart, they call you by your nickname, the name you grew up in. The same recollection of events that follow the nickname gives you a strong pull of love that your birth certificate name does not. That same emotional tug is what brought Marcos to pull Lin in his arms. That tug from his heart and mind knew that Dymetri was the name she called him and that was the name his inner being knew. Despite being called Marcos his entire life by people he thought were strangers now, he knew the name she uttered was his. Not only that, but she was his. He wanted to both envelope himself in her comfort and kill himself for making her cry. "Yes," he said, his breath against her hair, "I don't know how, but yes." His eyes peered up, at the boy behind her. "Who's the stiff?" he whispered, loosening his hold on her.

{{Makes sense. smile And Ambrose isn't behind her. He's in the yard of the school off to the side. He can't see inside the school right now.}}
Lin sobbed against Dymetri's shirt and fisted her hands in the back of his shirt where his backpack wasn't in the way. She never wanted to let him go again. She didn't care if she had to give up her water pendant for the rest of her life. She would.
She moved her hands and quickly wrapped her arms around Dymetri's neck. Her cheek was pressed along the column of his neck. She didn't understand any of this, but it didn't matter! He was back, albeit looking just a little tanner and healthier. She didn't think death could make a person healthier. Heck, she didn't know a person COULD come back from the dead. Well, she did, but she didn't know that a darker creature could.
"I do not understand! I do not understand how you came back from being dead, but I don't care! You are here now and I love you so much, Dymetri! I have missed you so very much. I searched for a way to bring you back. I worked days upon days without stopping at all until I collapsed and had to be taken to Bai Ching to heal. Oh Dymetri..."
She pulled back just enough to smile brightly at him. She had never smiled so brightly in her entire life. It was as if her heart was actually flying right now.
"I kept up your room in the Night building. They have not found a replacement for you, so I kept your room clean. Do you want to see it?!"

((Oh, lol. Okay well then it's good that you disregarded that.))
His face struck with agony at the sound of her sob. "Please don't cry, I hate seeing your beautiful face get this way. I love you too, Lin. I don't understand either, just don't cry." His words were placed so close together that they almost sounded like one. He cherished the sight of her bright smile and gifted her with one of his one. He now remembered the many years of his life, the hatred for what he was and the slow concept of living for the fullest. The want to feel slightly normal as a teacher and then the love that burned as hot as his entire body was right now. The only thing running through his mind was how? He was Marcos Demoir not so long ago. Pure green eyes and lovable spirit. He grew cynical from one day to the next, sarcastic and with new abilities. Now, he understood that was Dymetri returning to him. Was it, in fact, returning? He felt like himself, but two people. Marcos was a past life to him. It didn't make sense to him, so why should it to her if he tried to explain? Unless it was a matter of his soul. He never believed such a thing, but after this occurrence, it was hard not to place two and two together. His eyes fell into recognition.
"My soul brought me to you," he simply said to her, with a soft smile. His hands trailed up her body to cup her face. "And I'd love to see my old room. Although, I don't think they'll let me sleep in it. I don't want anyone but you to know who I really am. Can this be our secret?" He gave her a small peck on the lips. He pulled away to grab his things and his papers that had fallen to the floor before their embrace. "Lin, are you seventeen or eighteen?" he asked while following her up the stairs.
((I need to go to sleep soon. I think I could make one more post.))

{{Sounds good! biggrin I'll respond to your next post and you can read it the next time you come on. smile Yay for you being back!!! biggrin }}
Lin had sobbed softly once more when Dymetri said that his soul brought him to her again. Only the most powerful love could do that, she was certain of it. She had heard rumors during her earlier years of study of a similar occurrence happening throughout the course of history, but she had never believed it. She had not known love, then.
Lin gasped as Dymetri's lips touched hers again quickly. She was afraid she'd never feel that sensation again. But there was something just a little different in the kiss. It was... warmer.
She mumbled absentmindedly, "I'll be 18 in two weeks..."
She quickly grabbed his hand before they walked up the stairs. She gasped when she felt how warm it is. She looked up at him and into his eyes immediately. His entire skin seemed healthier and a little darker. She had noticed this before, but she hadn't thought anything of it then.
"Dymetri... You're human! You are not a vampire. You're human!"

"Yes," he answered calmly. "This isn't my actual body. You saw what happened to my body, Lin. I could still do many things a vampire could do. Minus the effect of the sun." They continued walking, their steps in sync. "We're the same age," he noted with a smile. "Would your Elven superiors not approve of you being with a human? At least I'm not vampire, nor am I a teacher anymore." He chuckled at the memories that continued to flood his mind. He looked at her soft features. "I've missed you."

{{Night! biggrin Hopefully see you tomorrow. biggrin }}
Lin could barely keep the tears in. Was this really happening? Had she passed out again due to grief and exhaustion? She knew this wasn't the case because even in the many dreams she had had of Dymetri coming back, none of them had come close to feeling like this. She herself felt more alert and alive than she had since Dymetri had died.
She did not want to think of what happened to Dymetri's body. Yes, she had seen it, but she would not think about it again. This was a new, wonderful start! Not only was he back, but Dymetri was human now! Her parents would have no objections whatsoever! She actually preferred him to be one of her professors. Her parents would have liked for her to be with someone a little older than her, and many of her older sisters had married their professors. She also had some older siblings that had married humans, and her family loved them!
There was a way for an elf to give some of her mortality to a human that she loved with all of her heart, but they could worry about that process later. It was a lengthy one and they could cross that bridge when they came to it.
She walked up the stairs to the dormitory area with Dymetri, her hand still in his. A smile that just would not quit filled her face.
"My parents will love you now! My whole family will! You can come to my home now and see it! Oh Dymetri... This is so wonderful! I never dreamed of something like this. Well, I did, but I never thought it would come true."
When he said that he had missed her, she turned and faced him. She cupped the side of his face and smiled lovingly at him with tears in her eyes.
"I have missed you as well, Dymetri. I have missed you every moment, with every breath I have taken. At times, I did not want to take another breath because it hurt too much to breathe without you here."
She closed her eyes and leaned up to rest her forehead against his warmer one.
"I want you to know that I looked so long and so hard for a way to resurrect you. I looked for every possible way to bring you back with light magic. I even went to Professor Akakios. I would not turn to dark magic, though. I knew you would not want to be brought back that way."
She smiled softly, her eyes still closed. "I still have the vase of ice roses that you gave me. They are in my room."
She leaned up a little more and rested her lips on his forehead. She kissed his forehead slowly and then whispered against it. "Don't leave me again, Dymetri. Don't ever leave me again. I am so sorry for what happened. I should have been more careful with my pendant. I should have taken it off. But now... now we don't have to worry about that!"
She leaned back and held his face gently in her hands. Her eyes were a sparkling light blue now, but they were also full of promise and passion. "I love you Dymetri. I love you so much. I never stopped loving you. And now that we are both students, we can take the same classes together! You have the same knowledge that you did in your previous life, so you will certainly be able to take the advanced classes with me! But do not worry. I will tell no one who you really are until you are ready."
She giggled and hugged him tightly. "I cannot stop speaking or smiling, Dymetri! There is so much I want to say to you. Forgive me for my constant prattle. We have the rest of our lives to talk."
She pulled back, completely beaming at him, and started to pull him in the direction of his room number. "Let us find your room! Hopefully you do not have a roommate so that we can sit and talk for hours!"

((God forsaken mother frigging bloody b*****d virus tampered with my internet...Every time we think we kill off the bugger, it spreads to something else. No clue how long I'll be on, seeing as I'm at the library right now. Not cool.))
Ambrose nodded, content to wait. So saying, he settled down on the steps in front of the main doors. It shouldn't take her long, he thought, and contemplated the best way to talk to her father. And his father. And his mother...Oh, Jesus, his mother. He frowned a bit, shook his head. No, he wouldn't let her ruin this. She'd come around.

Ambrose glanced at his watch, frowned. It had been over twenty minutes since Lin had gone inside. Worried that perhaps she'd fallen down the steps, or was being bullied, or couldn't find what she was looking for...Instead of worrying, he decided he'd just find her.
With this in mind, he tapped his watch, muttered a spell that had the compass on his watch spinning. "Bring me to my Lovely Lin." He requested, and the compas turned slightly as he walked inside.
He followed the arrow, walked upstairs, towards the dorms. "Ah, here you are." He murmured, and smiled as he rounded a corner.
And then all he could do was stop, and stare. There was his Lovely Lin, all right...with another man. A dead man. For a moment he thought that this was a day for bringing back the dead. And then he thought of nothing but what was in front of his eyes. Just like the rest of him, his eyes never lied. And he was no fool.
She was holding his face-Dymetri's face-in her hands like something infinitely precious. Loved him, she said, never stopped loving him. The crack in his heart began there, with a cruel, unexpected blow. The heart that had filled so much, that had warmed beneath her loving hands only minutes ago was now twisting in agony, trying to deny what was so abruptly clear.
The rest of their lives to talk...She was giggling, hugging him, blind to anything but the man she'd cried over only hours before, the man Ambrose had come in second place to, it seemed, once again.
It was as she grabbed his hand and began to pull him that she faced him, pulling Dymetri towards him.
"Well," He was surprised he could speak, since his heart had leaped up into his throat, choking him. He'd never been the one for her, not really. He'd been a replacement, a...distraction. And she had no more need for him any more. It was obvious who would emerge the winner in this little triangle. Hadn't his Lin, his precious, Lovely Lin, leaped so willingly from his arms to Dymetri's? Hadn't she all but forgotten that only moments ago, she'd been talking of their future together, of families and children?
"Well," He said again, and his hands slid into his pockets so they wouldn't reach for her. "You've found your Dymetri, then?" How many ways, he wondered as his head began to pound, could a heart be twisted, mangled, ripped apart, and still be expected to beat?

{{Oh God... If that didn't just feel like a blow to the gut. Great post, Mitsuki! Poor Ambrose! sad Poor Lin and Dymetri. All three have been put through more than any of them deserved.}}
Lin's eyes widened when she turned and saw Ambrose. Her jaw dropped and images from what had happened minutes ago at the pond filled her mind. Oh God, no. How could she do this? How could she do this to sweet, wonderful, selfless Ambrose? But then again, how could she deny her heart? Yes, she cared deeply for Ambrose, even loved him, definitely. But her heart belonged to Dymetri. He was alive now, he was even human. It wouldn't be fair to anyone for her to keep acting as if he were dead and stay with Ambrose. It most certainly wouldn't be fair for Ambrose. He deserved to be with someone who was as in love with him as he was with her. And she wouldn't leave Dymetri. Now that she had him back, she'd never leave him again.
"Ambrose... Oh Ambrose, I am so sorry. You have no idea how sorry I am that you are hurting... I can see it in your eyes and feel it coming off of you in waves. I want you to know, though, that this is not some random stranger that I cling to. I cannot explain fully, but the spirit of this man... I have loved him with my very being, with my very soul. We are connected and were connected long before I got to know you."
She didn't know that Ambrose recognized Dymetri. She promised Dymetri that she would not reveal his secret, so she tried to explain as best she could without doing so. Ambrose deserved as much, and more.
Lin wouldn't touch Ambrose, though. She had a feeling that it would hurt him more if she did.
"I do love you, Ambrose. Besides this man here, you are my best friend. When I said I wanted to be with you, I did. This man, Marcos, he was gone, what I thought for good."
She had not caught Dymetri's human name, but she had glanced it on his information sheet when she had looked for his dorm number.
"I did not believe that he would ever be able to return. I did not lead you on, Ambrose. I know that is very little comfort right now, but know that I would never intentionally hurt you. I am simply following my heart right now. I wish with everything in me that it did not hurt you in the process. You deserve someone who will love you with as much passion and depth as you do her. You deserve nothing less, Ambrose."
She looked at Ambrose with sadness in her eyes, but there was still a sparkle in them. Dymetri was back and with her, so how could her eyes not sparkle?
