[Shizuka traning] Training implies: str, taijutsu, con Destroy the dummies with attack rolls. Vest -1 from all mods. Weights -2 from attack rolls. 1st Db:8 Hp: 6 2nd Db:12 Hp: 15 3rd Db:16 Hp: 20 Every 3rd attempt roll a fort save DC 9, to avoid auto fail on that attempt and -5hp. *shizuka's has been dumbed down with stats because she is behind.*
Even throwing a punch, it felt like she wasn't doing the best she could of done. But judging from the weak dummy, a simple punch like that dealt some damage on it but it still had a lot more to go through. Jumping up as best as she could with these weights on, she would send a kick towards the left side of it's neck. It didn't feel like it could do much due to how weak she was along with the weights and vest that was restraining her. There was two things that was helping her through this training, it was the little spy mission that Shinratsu and her was looking forward too and getting stronger after this! Maybe she can even ask Nee-chan to help her with genjutsu!

Now things were going against what Shizuka planned, this...feeling didn't feel right...She was panting heavily as the vest and the weights was doing something to her. She felt like she was about to collapse. She couldn't fail now! So close to beating this damn dummy. To keep her up, she had to imagine this dummy she hated the most...well...there was those two enemies that are diced up. The first one was the fat big guy that Giglamesh-sensei took care of with no problem, the second one was that creepy vamp guy who was the first to actually put her into a shocked and disturbed state. The type that would flash your life in front of your eyes. The third...the most toughest one was that Senju Ninja...she wanted to protect shinratsu from this jerk and this training may be the thing to help.

Giglamesh while sitting crossed legged on top of his stone speakers, would suddenly out of no where sneeze three time back to back. "Tch....somebody must be talking about me behind my back!" ((refer to curret rp in shi plateau)) Giglamesh had the cold glare in his eye at nothing directly but the idea of somebody talking about him behind his back. "....bunch of asses.......probably that dam ryoko or that mangy cat of roy's!" ((expression: -____-)) Giglamesh sat there scratching his chin.

Whatever. Giglamesh had gone off to do his own thing... Shin glanced back, at his teammates still at their work. He shrugged. Nobody's stopping him from just taking a walk around the canyon then. Besides, he really needed the stretch...and the vest be damned. He'll just have to readjust it again if the thing tries to kill him during resting period... Besides. He had been in Iwa for almost a year. But he had only been to the canyon for a few times, maximum, to name. In other words...he never really had the chance to discover what the wilderness around Iwa looked like. Alright. Maybe there were nightmare stories of giant scorpions, but who knows... It might just be a tactic of the older shinobi here to scare the youngsters into staying in the village grounds.
Shinratsu knuckle-rapped the nearest wall of rock. Solid granite, now that he thought about it... Hm...why didn't he notice it before? This type of rock, when polished, was a highly popular material back in Kiri. Well, strictly speaking...certain types of granite, since it should match the more frequently used marble. It was a curious thought anyways... Perhaps Kiri was arrogant in displaying its wealth, as according to what he had seen from Iwa itself and Zephyr's babblings... No other village was built with marble streets.
How pretentious. Shin snorted, before turning away. Now that he thought about it...if Iwa had so much granite, why don't they built the village out of that? No... Kiri...it was unwise to build the whole village out of marble and expensive stone. Iwa and Konoha weren't built out of such materials for any other purposes but convenience... If the village happens to be wrecked, repairing it would become a easy matter. It was an...interesting thought...

Patta patta. Light footsteps echoed off the walls of the canyon, as Shinratsu proceeded calmly through in exploring. He was careful not to make any noise that was loud enough to cause a disruption...who would save him if he got trapped in an avalanche here? In fact, he could imagine it. Gig would smugly point out it was his fault for wandering off in the first place. Shin sweatdropped. Maybe he should head back before the Jounin realizes he was missing... And then remembering the unpleasant night back during the yuri club mission...Shinratsu scowled. No way. He'll continue exploring, just to spite Gig.
Hm... Climbing was somewhat difficult. The elevation changes, Shinratsu was certain he was going uphill about now. Sweatdrops appeared on the back of his head. Now that he thought about it...he really was physically unfit... Struggle, struggle! His feet were beginning to disobey him. It was like he was carrying a burdened load or something. Shinratsu frowned, tugging at his vest. Maybe this thing was to blame? Shrugging the thought off, he proceeded with the winding road leading to the top of the canyon.
---
Hp: 19/22 Cp: 3/29
Now that he thought about it... Why didn't he just chakra walk his way up the sides of the canyon? Shinratsu frowned. No. He doesn't want to risk it. The granite walls of the canyon...when was the last time it rained? No...it was cool but humid, thanks to the great river at the bottom of the chasm. The granite walls would be certain to have absorbed some moisture...and with his level of chakra control, he wasn't really sure if it was wise to venture his way up on slippery rock. After all... Chakra control varies drastically on different surfaces. And so far...he had only experienced and mastered water walk.
Shinratsu toyed with the thought. Sure, tree climbing may be theoretically easier than water walk. However, wouldn't it be a wiser way to experience all three surface types rather than leave it to chance? A sweatdrop appeared at the back of his head, as Shinratsu looked back. Well... He thought. Now, that might have been possible... If Iwa wasn't so treeless. Grudgingly, Shinratsu found his thoughts wondering back to a certain classmate of his back in Kiri's shinobi Academy. Tai would certainly be surprised, that mountains don't have trees... Hah. He did tell the Mizukai that only the bottom did.
---
Hp: 20/22 Cp: 4/29
Perhaps he should take a break for now... Hm... There was a boulder right next to him, with the top cut off cleanly and the sharp sides rounded by erosion. Shin found himself briefly wondering if perhaps Giglamesh had chanced by the rock. Hmph. Who cares. A seat was a seat, he can't be picky now can he? So propping himself on the boulder seat, Shinratsu just sat there...and observed the sky. These quiet moments...really, he missed them. And now the rare chance he had to just be alone... Was it really so strange that he preferred not to have company? Sure, Giglamesh and Keiko was generous taking him in...Yokou had been unnecessary kind to him...Shizuka, Cronos, and even Rai who had shielded him from the storm back when Giglamesh had run off sulking...after that unpleasant run-in with the Tsuchikage, Taida Marcus.
Even so...there was a certain soothing serenity he could reach on his own when not around people. It wasn't a matter of recluse... Simply, he...had a love for the wilderness and the wild beauty of nature. Perhaps...perhaps... Shinratsu found it comforting to believe that was his family...his clan's reason for living so far away from the people of Kiri itself. Did perhaps Tai's family find it that way too? The nomadic Mizukai...

Hp: 21/22 Cp: 5/29
In Water Country, there wasn't exactly a hailed 'Mizukai' clan. They were a group of nomads, who didn't even live in Kirigakure no Sato itself but instead inhabited the surrounding islands. A strange but rare form of water manipulation, thus making them among the most prized of the nomad groups. Yet, even so...the Mizukais seemed to have found society very difficult and hence never truly assimilated. And it was there he met Kai Taishiroku...the only one he had ever considered "friend".
Kiri had always held a long tradition of sending children to the Academy from a very early age. Regardless, as early as the age of six, the children of the Mist were expected to begin attending lessons. However, it didn't really matter if the children learned anything at that age or not...so believing it to be a wasted year, his clan had withheld admission until the following year. He began lessons thus two semesters behind. His teachers did not expect him to catch up.
Instead, their expectations were crushed...and far beyond that. The Fubuki prince was brilliant, and had no trouble catching up. In fact...within a half semester span, he was already completing advanced work ahead of the class. And of course...his strangely excellent memory and recall... Anything he read once, information, numbers... They stayed in his head. And along with all other factors...as well as attracting the admiration of the rookie kunoichis...antagonized his male classmates. Soon enough, he was head of class.
Simply put, they hated him. And whenever they could, they would pick on him... Oh, of course they wouldn't do it directly. Shinratsu was manipulative and used every factor to his advantage...plus, his wielding of ranged weapons was unnaturally good thanks to excellent eyesight. So they wouldn't face him head on... Like cowards in the dark... His locker was repeatedly broken into and books stolen.
"Fubuki-kun, would you read chapter fourteen, paragraph two?"
...
A momentary silence.
He took a deep breath and began. "Several types of poisons may be harvested from the indigenous-..."
"Um...that's very good, Fubuki-kun. But where's your book?"
Snickers from the back of the class.
"Oh, sensei...Shin-chan probably memorized the whole textbook."
The eyes that greeted the boy who had spoken was cold. The smirk faded from that boy...and he looked hesitatant.
The message was all too clear: and who gave YOU permission to address me by my first name?
Perhaps...perhaps the change...had already begun back in Kiri...thanks to him...

He never found the Academy particularly interesting. To the Fubuki heir, it was mundane sport...and besides...he might even have hated it... Those feelings would've probably remained the same had he not met Kai Tashiroku. Like him, the Mizukai had joined the Academy late...but for much different reasons. Processing legal papers to stay within Kiri grounds was rather much a headache for the nomad families. Simply put, the noble families didn't like them. And since the noble families did not enjoy the idea of uncultivated nomads in the village...so that was too the opinion of the Kiri Council of Elders.
Tashiroku might've potentially ended up the new target of the class. But he never did. The exact opposite of the Fubuki heir, the Mizukai was wild, did poorly on report cards, a total goofball...and nevertheless, had the grudging love of the teachers and students. Shinratsu might've been excellent as a student but honestly...it worried his teachers, how reclusive that child was.
Taishiroku was the very incarnation of "annoying". And his self-proclaimed rival from day one...not caring however his teachers and classmates scoffed it was impossible...
A few months later, clearly that initial threat forgotten, his classmates began stealing Shinratsu's books again. And so, this time...the young Fubuki prince decided to settle this once and for all on his own. For three days he stalked the locker rooms, during either lunch period or suddenly returning after school. On the fourth day, his efforts were awarded. During lunch period on the fourth day, three boys were suspiciously at his locker...
Shinratsu smashed his left fist against the closest locker...ice crackled around his palm. But before he could satisfyingly crash his fist against the nearest culprit...
Thump.
That kid went flying...?

Cp: 7/29
It was Tai. The Mizukai had put all the brute force he could gather and striked Shin's offender...
"Hey you." Said Taishiroku to the kid he had just punched. "Shin's my rival, got it? I don't need any help from the likes of you."
In a little more than no time at all, the three kids scampered off. Taishiroku picked up the fallen books and glanced down at it, then at the open locker. He gave them to Shin, and grinned. "It's yours, right?"
"..." Exactly what words could he say, to this kid? The formerly expressionless face gentled, softened...
"Arigatou."
That would become the beginning of a friendship.

Shinratsu always had a thing for target practice, even after he came to Iwa. But while he might have, Taishiroku certainly did not. He had to chuckle remembering those days...glancing at his bulls-eye board and then the Mizukai's. Well, at least the board next to his was prettily dotted with shuriken and kunai knives...
"...hey...shouldn't you hold that kunai the other way around?" A pause. "If you throw it like that, the result would come out crooked."
The defiant retort: "Hush hush! No fraternization with the enemy. I will beat you my own way!"
Ah. He had forgotten. Shin was "the enemy" during Academy hours.
That next throw missed. It didn't even stick to the first ring of the board...
Shin sweatdropped. "Righhht..."
"What did you say huh, you smug b*****d!"
"Nothing."

Studying times were always a battlefield...
"Are you making fun of me?" Growled an irate Mizukai, as he lightly rapid-patted the inside of his book in frustration, a vein throbbing at his temple. Taishiroku shoved several books at Shin's face.
Shin sighed. That's right, it slipped his mind. If they have a test the next day, then he too was "the enemy" for the afternoon. "...but I remembered everything in them already..."
"I don't care! Study! I refuse the enemy to look down at me!"
The books contacted his face.
Shin growled.
If it was anyone other than the Mizukai treating him like this he would...
...have long pulverized them.
---
Cp: 10/29
When they got the results to their tests back...an excited Tashiroku tackled Shinratsu.
"Look look! Shin-chan, I got FULL SCORE on my last test!"
Shin-chan...?
Shinratsu rose an eyebrow but said nothing.
Perhaps teasing him was alright... A grin, and he decided to play the 'smug prince'. A graceful sweeping up of his paper. "A hundred AND ten. Number two-kun."
Tashiroku looked scandalized and clutched his head. "How can this beeeee!"
Shinratsu laughed. "Eh, don't worry so much about it. For someone who was dobe up to last semester..." Strangely, the semester after they first met, whent he Mizukai declared himself eternal rival...before the locker incident...Tashiroku began working much harder. "That's progress."
Tashiroku didn't seem convinced. Shin was clutched by the collar now, and had a close up view of the Mizukai's face, with rather large eyes now with tears at the corners. "How did you get ten more points, teme!"
"Here, look." Shinratsu shoved the paper in Tai's face. "Sensei had a mistake in the test, and I corrected it..."
"What! No fair!"

Cp: 11/29
The memories came, and thinking back now... The days spent in the Academy somehow became...warm...after befriending Tai.
"Weeeeeird." Complained a certain Mizukai after repeatedly poking Shin's left cheek. "You don't even notice, unless..." Tai went after the other cheek, and pulled.
Shin frowned. "Ten seconds to start running...ten..."
Taishiroku let go. "Hey! I was just stating a fact. But you can't feel anything from one side, right?"
A perfect eyebrow arched. "Yeah, so?" Inquired the Fubuki prince.
"I dunno...doesn't it feel like you're missing out on something?"
Missing out... Shinratsu had never thought of his clan's handicap that way. "How so?" A pause. "You do know that..."
The Mizukai frowned. "Yeah, you told me. But still...someday not being able to touch human warmth..." Taishiroku looked down, at his own hands. "I wouldn't trade that for the world."
---
Cp: 12/29
Their worldviews were so different...yet... Taishiroku and him fitted like polar sides of a magnet. And sometimes, though grudgingly...Shinratsu had to admit the Mizukai got him really thinking on several matters... His eyes began to be really opened to the other side of his bloodlimit...understanding exactly how...tragic...the cons were than to the previously dismissive attitude he had treated them. But Tai would cheer him up and say that was ok, that the medic field was constantly advancing...and perhaps there would be someway to stop the deterioration.
"Konoha is strong in the medic field." His friend had often said.
"Yeah..." Was the murmured reply.
"Tai...?"
"Eh, yeah?"
"I...don't want to die early..." Fear, fear...it ate away at him coldly... How many years would his bloodlimit allot him? Shinratsu clutched his gauntleted arms around himself. "I..." How he envied Taishiroku! Who got to see the world outside of Kiri, who was free as the wind...
That was also the first time the other embraced him. "It's ok...you won't..."
The great ocean supports the glacial ice...
---
Cp: 13/29
Taishiroku had always protected him...
"You know..." One day, during lunch at the Academy, Shinratsu brought up the topic. Again. "If you're always seen with me, the others will start hating you too."
"Ehhhh...really?" Taishiroku was busy munching on the cookies one girl had brought for Shin. "But the girls always bring you tasty stuff! Sure you aren't hoarding them?"
A veinpop appeared at Shinratsu temple, as he began shoving down his sandwich with renewed vigor. After a long moment, he put it down. "Baka..." Was the comment, before he resumed eating.
Just as he had expected, the same students who used to pick on him were being equally cruel to Tai...

Cp: 14/29
"What, you get Fubuki to cheat for you?" A kick.
This time, they had gotten one of the bigger boys, a bully. Taishiroku, however, did not back off. He clutched his bruised jaw but only glared defiantly. "Shin-chan has honour unlike you scum." Replied the Mizukai. "He would never resort to dirty tactics."
Sneers from the bullies. "Look at that, the filthy nomad..." Another punch. "Argh!" A kunai cut the boy straight on the cheek, before embedding itself into the wall behind. It was Shinratsu, and around his left index finger, he was casually swinging around yet another kunai knife.
"Oh my. I was heading to the training field...but what do I find...? Here of all places, I find excellent target practice dummies."
"Y-you'll pay for this Fubuki! Violence in doors!" Klunk. The kunai fell against the floor.
Smash. That boy was crushed against the wall. And even though Shinratsu was smaller, the look in his eye was dangerous. His right hand was around the bully's neck, while his left on that other boy's cheek, freezing the wound, aggrandizing it. He had removed his protective gauntlet.
"Listen up..." A chill in the air. "If you pick on him again, I'll make sure you regret that for the rest of your life."
"Shinratsu, stop it!" One of the teachers were yelling now.
"Apologize! Apologize to him!" The ice from around his fingers began spreading. A whimper from the larger boy...from pain and the damage that was being done to his face. The strength of the Hyouton chakra surrounding him grew more violent. "Apologize, or I'll mutilate your face...until even your own mother doesn't even recognize you!"
Slap.
"Tai..."
---
Cp: 15/29
"Don't...waste your life on him..." The crowd was confused. Don't Taishiroku mean 'time'? The Mizukai reached for his left hand.
"D-don't! Don't touch me!" Shinratsu tried to pull his hand back but the Mizukai's grip held face. The ice, from contact, Taishiroku's fingers...!
"You get injured too hunh...so this is the Fubuki clan's Hyouton..." The Mizukai's quiet murmur was one of understanding. "I get it now..." Even if awkwardly, Tai redid Shin's seal however he could.
A smile. "It's not worth it, killing yourself over someone like him."
Shinratsu stared.
"But, arigatou."
---
Cp: 16/29
Shin, Tai, and the bullies except the one hospitalized for frostbite injuries had to stay for detention that day.
"Young master Fubuki..." Chided the homeroom teacher. "You should feel lucky that you aren't expelled, after that last demonstration? Apologize to them!"
Shin looked at the bullies. Imagine the evil eyed expression as... "Oh, I'm sooooo sooooorry...!" A veinpop appeared on the homeroom teacher's temple.
"You can stay an extra hour, young Master Fubuki, after everyone else went home."
"Sensei, question."
"What?"
"Do you apologize to a worm?"
"No. Why?"
"Precisely. So why should I apologize to worms?"
"Two hours!"
"But I haven't even specified who it was..."
"Three!"
"You abuse your power..."
"Three and half!"
"Oh, so we're out of hours now?"
The teacher growled. "Young Master Fubuki, keep talking back and you'll be sleeping here overnight!"
Shin winced. Ok...now that, he didn't want. Besides him, Taishiroku sweatdropped.
Fortunately, he didn't have to stay until midnight. His father rescued him, and after knuckle-rapping his son on the head, apologized to the teacher and dragged the young prodigy home...
Well, that was a new event. Shinratsu was a genius, learned quickly and performed excellently...but adding troublemaker to the title pool...hm...
---
Cp: 17/29
And that wouldn't be the last time he got in trouble. Shin chuckled in his mind. Pretty soon, he began gaining an infamous title in school...since afterwards, the bullies had started hailing him as boss...
"Boss!" Now, that was said by the bully who just got released from the hospital, bandages still wrapped across his face. "Boss, let's go rob the little kids of their lunch money today!"
Shinratsu stared and deadpanned. "And why would I need to do that? Arigatou, but no." Ludicrous. He had more money than he needed.
Well, his "gang" ended up robbing the little kids anyways.
"Shinratsuuuuuuu!"
Uh-oh. That'll be the teachers.
But he didn't even do anything this time around!

Research paper time... The dread of the school year, the bane, the pestilence...the most miserable moment of the Academy year.
"So what's your topic, Shin?" In the public library, Taishiroku and Shin were searching for volumes that would be of use in their research papers.
Kiri library really was something of magnificence. Built entirely of white marble and sculpted in gothic style, the elegant halls were filled with ancient knowledge... Besides being beautiful to look at it. However, Shinratsu didn't seem to happy. The library reminded him too much of his own cold estate castle...the reason why he's not using his own clan's library in the first place...
"Hm...economics." Replied the boy, who currently stood on a stool as he was reaching for the volumes at the top of the shelf. Taishiroku's eyes bulged, as Shin pulled out...a rather voluminous volume.
The Mizukai winced. "That's...a rather boring topic... Can you even read THAT in three weeks?"
Shin looked down curiously. "Hm? What are you talking about, I'm almost done with it already." The Fubuki heir began flipping through the pages, stopping close to the end. But there was still at least 500 pages to go. "I stop by the library for a little while every day, and read portions of whatever volumes I can find." Ah...of course. Since he could recall them, there was no problem in getting potentially mixed up too.
"Economics are actually very interesting and often ties hand in hand with the Great Shinobi Wars - your topic - . You see, until after the original Mizukage line was ousted after Uchiha Madara usurped the village, and after him, all the shinobi wars fought was for the sake of accumulating some new trade route, or coercing a potential trading partner... During this period, the major export, marine based poisons had actually declined by 65.2% as Kiri didn't want..." He began recounting details from the volume he currently held in his hand.
"Shin."
Shinratsu looked down, and sweatdropped, as Tai had swirly eyes.
"No more statistics."
"...eh..."

Music and dance classes...
Personally, Shin didn't exactly dislike them. He just found them a bit of a pestilence, even if he did do exceptionally well. Since he could remember the notes of music quickly, and figure out the correct tempo, pretty soon in close to no time at all, Shin could perform an exceptionally difficult piece on the flute. During these times, even the teachers had to forget the new "troublemaker" title of the Fubuki prince and remember only their quiet, obedient star student.
And in dance classes, like all members of his family, they moved with a strange, floating grace. Another of the reasons why the Fubuki nobles of Kiri were often compared as a counterpart to the Hyuuga noble family of Konoha. Dance-like movement and grace, quickly assimilated into difficult dances... During the dance classes however, Shin was always more...serenely calm... He didn't have to process countless pieces of information in his head. His body just knew how, where, when to move...
Of course, he did best in the traditional dances and from the gypsy guests, quickly learned their elaborate dances. But only once did he agree to do a dance at the annual Full Moon Festival, only because Taishiroku was so pressing about it.
---
Cp: 20/29
Shinratsu glared down at the outfit.
Disgusting. How did he even end up agreeing to this in the first place?
Well, to be honest, the clothing was "pretty" according to most standards. But why all these...unnecessary accessories? Oh, that's right. Gypsy traditional clothing (bottom right image)... Well, at least most of it was sort of like his clan's traditional clothing. Shin frowned and tugged at the ribbon and strings of beads attached to his hair. Dammit, this was probably making him look more like a girl...
Wait.
When did he started caring about how he looked? A glimpse of Tai in the crowd.
Oh, that's right. He didn't want to always be the damsel in distress protected by Tai.
A sweeping bow, the opening of the dance.
Shin moved, a graceful turn, the beads and ribbons floating in the wind. A sinking sweep, and the trail of beads seem to just gently brush against the marble pavement. Another turn, and long sleeves floated in the air for a moment as held position.
Long moments passed before he proceeded to stepping forth, light feathery steps, taking the ceremonial cup from the person who had it before him... He was the last dancer to receive the goblet and he proceeded with his dance with the cup, not spilling a single drop of the wine inside, before a bow before the Mizukage and presented it to him.
---
Cp: 21/29
The festival held up for quite a while and all those performing in the dance were stuck with the Kage for a while... Shin sighed. He really shouldn't think of it as "stuck". But really...thanks to that... Today was a school day and he didn't get any sleep. All he could do was try and ignore the pestering female crowd around him, commenting about how pretty his dance was, blah blah blah...that it was an honour to be the actual one presenting the ceremonial cup to the Mizukage, etc etc etc. After a while, Shin began getting swirly eyes, in addition to the dark rings under his eyes (from the lack of sleep).
Thankfully, Taishiroku and his "gang" rescued him.
"Boss, you look sick." Commented the first bully.
"Yeah boss, absolutely terrible." Commented the second.
"The steely edge in your eyes have grown rusty..."
A veinpop appeared on Shin's temple. His voice was low and dangerous. "What's that about me being rusty?"
But he never continued on. He passed out, right there and then.
Shin had caught a cold from exposure the previous night.
Dammit, he knew there was something wrong with those clothes...
---
Cp: 22/29
Well, it was rather dangerous for any member of the Fubuki line to catch illness. It wasn't just about the frailty of their health either...but the problem with colds is... They absolutely refuse to heal, as their bodies interfere with the natural immune system process. Shin was out of commission for at least two months, immobilized in bed for the first. Thanks to his fiancee Hatsuyuki, and with the help of his mother and condonment of his father...Taishiroku was allowed into the clan estate... Strictly speaking, secretly, as those b*****d old geezers (the clan Elders) would spew blood to know a nomad was walking in their ancestral halls.
"I don't feel so good..." Shin groaned. "I want shrimp in spicy sauce and vanilla pudding..." He usually wasn't a picky eater but today... Hm...today, Shin was rather bossy, wasn't he? But Taishiroku got the groaned out "list of wanted food to eat" anyways. However, when he brought it up. "Strawberries...I want that with tomato and egg soup..." So Taishiroku went and got that. However...
"Clam...I want the large clam delicacy...so hungry..."
If Shin wasn't in a daze, he would have been able to see the tick mark appearing on Tai's cheek. But you should treat a sick person nicely, so Tai went and got it anyways. Hatsuyuki helped too, to prepare the food...but...
"I want asparagus..."
A sweatdropping Hatsuyuki had to pull an enraged Taishiroku out of the room, whispering that Shin was like that when he gets sick... That he should've ignore the first half dozen requests and waited for the absolute last one...which would come with a signal.
Shin's stomach rumbled. "Nooooo! Salmon, I want my giant salmon! Come back!" Ah. So he was dreaming of salmon...
"See?" Whispered the raven-haired girl. "There we go."

"So yeah..." Deadpanned Shinratsu. "Why fishing?"
It was summertime, and the Academy year was over. Shinratsu didn't have much trouble catching up for finals. However...Taishiroku's grades had fallen a bit from caring for him while he was sick, so they had spent more afternoons together studying for the final examinations. No more was there the ridiculous 'the enemy' business from the earlier days. Shin did swear, though, the teacher looked a bit upset she couldn't capture him and Taishiroku into her "summer school net".
Well, they did skip a lot of classes... And Shinratsu, the whole last two months. It was a good thing he reads far ahead always though, so there wasn't an overwhelming supply of catch-up reading. Anyways, it was summertime now and today Taishiroku had suggested that they go fishing.
And apparently...Shinratsu had no idea what he had been muttering in his illness... Taishiroku seemed to debated poking fun at his friend but decided that could be put off later. "Well, maybe because you're always sitting there reading that you get sick so easily. Exercise."
Shinratsu crossed his arms. "What are you, my okaa-san?" He grimaced. "How'd you know she always says that, anyways?" Shinratsu frowned. "I'm telling you, it was those dancer clothes... I shouldn't catch colds." True. Shinratsu did eat insanely healthy. He doesn't even touch sweets, the sweets he got from the female population he tries to return or Taishiroku graciously accepts them for him (when the Mizukai is around). And Shinratsu didn't touch meat...it was a sort of family tradition to eat green but still...
"You know, a bit of meat won't hurt...you need to get protein..." It was Taishiroku's turn to frown. "Or you'll always be so sickly. Anyways! Even if your family don't eat red meat, you can still consume fish, right?"
Shin shrugged. "I suppose?"
---
Cp: 24/29
Surprisingly enough, there was not even a single argument throughout that afternoon. Taishiroku showed Shinratsu how to attach the bait and cast out the line, while the Fubuki heir watched, patiently, absorbing the information quietly.
"You shouldn't cast the line too far in." Commented the Mizukai. "Or else you won't get any fish. And if it's too far out, the line might snap if you get a bigger catch or worse yet...be dragged over the pier and under water." Taishiroku held up a space between his fingers. "If a fish is under this big, you have to return it to the ocean."
"Kiri's fishing laws...article 347, clause 16..." Agreed his friend, nodding.
"Yeah...that..." Taishiroku sweatdropped. "Anyways, according to what type of bait you attach, you will attract different species of fish..."
"I am not touching the worms..."
"Don't be an idiot! What are you going to use, Shin, plastic bait?"
"But they're...they're..."
...
Taishiroku picked up an earthworm and placed it in Shin's right hand.
"ARGH!" The poor worm was flung, far, into the ocean.
---
Cp: 25/29
"Shin, you're being ridiculous." Commented Taishiroku, as his companion began promptly washing his hand in the ocean water. "You're wearing gloves too."
"I don't care!"
"It's an earthworm...they're good for the environment, haven't you heard? Totally harmless and there's always an abundant supply of them after the monsoon rains..."
"They're gross and...slimy! And they have no eyes or ears! That's not right!"
"Shin...something would be wrong if they DID have eyes or ears... Besides, it's really cool. If you cut them the right way they'll regen-..."
"That's abnormal!"
"They're NOT going to hurt you."
---
Cp: 26/29
The hardest part of that day was convincing Shinratsu that the earthworms were perfectly harmless critters. Finally, after fifty worms, even though Shinratsu was still shaking and a-trembling, he did not cast the worm straight into the ocean.
"Now...good...attach it like this..." Taishiroku demonstrated on his own hook with his worm. And watched, amused, as Shinratsu shuddered and done the same with his. "Now you cast the line out."
Happy to rid the worm, Shinratsu flung his line out into the sea.
"ARGH!"
This time, it was Tashiroku.

Shin's fish hook had nicked the Mizukai in the ear. In fact...nicking would be putting it lightly. Apparently, Shinratsu had more force to his swing that he knew it would and the fish hook had cleanly pierced through the cartilage of the top portion of Tai's ear. Well, if it wasn't seriously bleeding, the two might have begun joking that Tai could get a piercing there now. Instead, the next hour or so were spent with the two boys panicking, Shinratsu fumbled for his first aid kid, ended up knocking off his left gauntlet, and brushing against the Mizukai's wound, ended up freezing it.
More panic. Not wanting to take the risk of removing the ice any other way, the two decided to wait for the ice to thaw. And apologetically, Shinratsu treated the ear, properly this time with anti-infection cream and healing herbal oils. When he was done, along with bandaging, a long silence settled over the pair.
"G-gomen..." Shin finally whispered, flushing.
"Huh! What was that?"
"I said gomen nasai!"
Tashiroku blinked, seemingly trying to decide if this was a dream or not. The arrogant Fubuki prince, apologizing? This was priceless! Grinning, he patted Shin on the back. "It's alright. It stopped hurting."
---
Cp: 28/29
Strangely, Shinratsu actually was the one who ended up with the more fish. A dismaying Tashiroku proclaimed it was impossible - Shin must've been a bad charm on his fishing luck! And just about then, Shin's line twitched. Again. The boy began reeling the catch in.
"Whoa!" Shinratsu had lost his footing. This must be one huge catch!
"Shin!" Tashiroku thankfully have caught him back in time and now both were reeling the fish in. "Don't stop struggling, keep pulling at the line!" A grunt from the two and the surface of the water broke, a giant salmon flew into the air, crash landing right on the two.
"Here..." Groaned Shinratsu. "You can have it. I don't I ever want to see salmon again, or fishing, in my life..."
Tai had a better idea. "Why not learn something else too? Let's cook our catch."
Shinratsu went searching for the flintstone. He was the one with the doujutsu after all. And in the meantime, Taishiroku set up a ring of rock before going off to find firewood. The Mizukai showed Shinratsu how to create a campfire and Shinratsu was the one who shaped a cooking structure from a solid block of wood, using his Fuuton affinity as a cutting point. Pretty soon, their catch of the day, along with the giant tuna, was cooking.
It was getting late, so Shin and Taishiroku's family have gone off searching for them. In the distance off, Shinratsu waved to his parents. His mother gasped, she was a beautiful young woman in her early twenties, and she was delighted that her son was finally showing some socialization. His father seemed pleased too. And it was a rare event too, both boys in a mess from their toil of the day, Shinratsu laughing about it too...
"There's more than enough fish for everyone!"
"Shin, it's burning!"
---
Cp: 29/29
However...the grim-faced clan Elders. Shin should've guessed that while his parents approved, they did not...
"What do you mean I won't be returning to the Academy?" He demanded, in the clan's Council hall.
"Young Master Fubuki, please sit down." Replied a grim faced old woman. Melediana had once been exceptionally beautiful in her youth but age and ugliness of the soul had taken her beauty.
"Now, young master...as we have been saying." Began another Elder, a middle-aged Sannin. "A year in the Academy is all that's necessary for a once a decade prodigy... Besides, the rest are repeat courses until graduation. You can attend the class four semesters (two years) from now, for the graduation course."
Shinratsu paled noticeably, his expression darkened. "And loll around for two years? I expected better of the scheming Council."
"Your accusations injure us, young master." Replied the Elder Melediana. "Rather, in these two years, you would be entrusted to us... The Academy shall be notified you're returning to Yukigakure for the foreign advancement program." Shinratsu had stormed out from the hall. "Ojou-sama! Ojou-sama!"
Later, at his bedside, his mother gently embraced her son. "Shin..."
"Leave me be, okaa-san..."
"It's alright... You can cry if you want..."
The boy's tone was bitter. "Mother, if they so wanted me to find human companionship...why do they insist on taking it away?"
A flicker of pain in his mother's lovely dark sapphire eyes, and she bent down, holding his hands. "Just for two years...endure it, and you'll see that child again..."
But that was not to be so. In two years...Shin grew cold. Hah, training. It was only a mere name to mask the abuse... When Shinratsu returned to the Academy, he was almost unrecognizable. His short pale hair had grown longer, tied into a low ponytail. The same doll-like looks from his earlier years, but with an edge of coldness now.
And shortly after, before Taishiroku returned to the Academy... There was that incident...his family's slaughter...the escape to Iwa.
Shinratsu briefly wondered. If...if the other was still alive... How was Taishiroku doing, back in Kiri? His feet took him back to that part of the canyon, back to where Shizuka and Rai was...
Two diverging rivers...
...will meet in the ocean again...
He wasn't even allowed to say goodbye to his friend during that last year. But Taishiroku seemed to have known something...perhaps the clan Elders already told him that Shin was "moving away"... And those words...the last words exchanged between two like spirits...
Shin wondered just how much truth was in them.

All this time... Ever since he had come to Iwa... Shin had reflected over all that was gained and lost. If he ever saw Kai Taishiroku again...what exactly should be his first words to the other, after what became not two, but four long years...? Shinratsu's gaze settled on the final pillar he was supposed to destroy and hardened, into one of determination. He had unwittingly done something cruel... For a whole year, Taishiroku had become his only friend and he to the other. Certainly...after he was gone... The other would have been left alone. What if the others had picked on the Mizukai when he was gone? He wasn't able to protect his only friend...
If he met Tai again... The wind around Shinratsu this time was gentle, but fierce. If he met Taishiroku again... He would tell the other that this time, that this time with him having grown stronger...he would certainly protect his friend. O breeze of the zephyr in your wild play... The wind dancer Fubukis...the wind was their protection against their dangerous limit...and the very embodiment of the essence of protection. Your master commands your obedience...

The wind sliced against the rock and the pillar trembled. Shin looked surprised that he had done something of this extent with a single strike...while his Hyouton had not been able to do so before. Drawing closer, he observed the fissure. It almost cut cleanly through the supporting side... If a little more pressure had been in that strike, the pillar would've cleanly snapped. A strike, or two more, should do the trick. Shinratsu smiled, a gentle smile, as a gauntleted hand barely touched the fissure. A gentle sparkling light seemed to emit from his palms.
"Even so now..." He whispered. "Even so now, you insist on, do you...?" That's fine. "That's fine then. If you wish to be my supporting pillar..." Then become the source of my strength. "Instead of this cursed limit..." Like the great ocean that supports the continental glacier.
"Once again, we'll meet..." Shinratsu's expression grew distant and the insignia Kousei had left on him appeared, glowing pale violet. As if he had just somehow, subconsciously remembered the phoenix's words.
"I know it." The breeze past by, ruffling his long bangs and sideburns.

How strange. Usually thinking about the past left him miserable...but those memories...they were even fond. That long process... It had not begun here in Iwa. Without a spirit like Taishiroku's...perhaps even Giglamesh would not have been able to warm his heart to human sympathy. Shinratsu despised sympathy. He scorned it. What was there to be pitied about, anyways? The strong survive, the weak die... It was always like that... His limit had taught his clan throughout the ages more than enough lessons on that. Yet, Taishiroku's sympathy...
He had grown to accept. As if the nudging reminder that he shouldn't so easily dismiss the price that would be paid for his kekkai genkai. Now, remembering these things...he didn't hate Kiri...
The icy strike at the fissure faltered.
Many memories there were from his days in that island village... The last three were harsh but the time he had spent in the Academy, brief as it was...
Shin realized he had grown to love it.
That was why his heart wasn't so ready to easily accept his time in Iwa's Academy here. The answer he gave to Roy...was not totally true... He didn't scorn the Academy because it could not provide strength.
He scorned the institution for not being able to keep him by his friend...

His chest hurts...his heart hearts... The pain...is enough to get one to wish to die... More so than what this vest could ever inflict on him. No matter how much his parents had loved him...the one thing that mattered most they were not able to do for him. But, foolish foolish... Why couldn't he have promised the Elders, back then...why couldn't he have insisted on proving to them that he could grow stronger and didn't need their help to do it? There were a few kind members among the Council...surely, Hatsuyuki's mother would've helped. Yet...he had not found the courage to stand up to them...he allowed himself to be encaged, by running away...
The tears shed that night as his mother held him... They were as frozen as the helplessness he had felt. Shinratsu had felt the world was injustice, and that he was the victim in it. What prodigy? It was merely a title, nothing else. What pride? There was only a robbing, that's all. Stronger...he wanted to get stronger...
But most of all, he wanted courage.
So that never again, would he let what is most precious to him...slip through his hands like water...

The times he had spent with Taishiroku were memories now. But the times he now spends with Shizuka and Rai...are precious moments that he should hold close to him, too. Nankurunaisa... Live for today, but always look forward to tomorrow. The past was something important...but so was the present and future. Shinratsu briefly wondered...did perhaps...that dream he had, whatever it was...purposely led him deeper into the canyon, just so that he contemplate those things? Fate was strange...the goddess Fortuna random like that...
Shinratsu gazed up at the canyon walls. Iwa had it's own strange beauty, with the canyon walls of inlaid sedimentary rock... As the sun casts its golden glow over the walls, the whole canyon becomes a glittering spectacle. However, while Iwa was the sun...then Kiri would be the moon... It's the time for the Winter Festival... Shinratsu wondered how it would be like.
---
Hp: 18/22 Cp: 2/29
Kiri in winter wasn't cold. They were pretty close to the equator line, so temperatures don't fall low enough to snow. In those times, the nobleblood Fubuki clan were especially valuable, as they were the stormcasters who enlivened the Winter Festival. And the children of the village would be delighted too, to see the goddess magpy Saphira bursting through the snow clouds, swooping close enough to the earth that they could feel the wind and pressure... And the snow around her cast in dazzling display. The Mizukage too...he would always be pleased with the Winter Festival performances.
Shinratsu wasn't the only Fubuki who attended the dances, even though he was the youngest at seven, when he performed the dance at that particular Winter Festival. But it was always a splendid sight, as well as the villagers carving the ice blocks into images of Saphira, as the goddess magpy protector of Kiri... In these times, even the clan Elders have to relent...taking turns to maintain Saphira's time on earth and allowed the children to ride on the great bird's back.
---
Hp: 19/22 Cp: 3/29
The festival always brought legends too. And much of it was involved with their clan's summoning... The villagers were highly superstitious, unlike the on earth-to-god 'Will of Fire' Konohagakurians. Perhaps the gypsy nomads did have their influence after all. The legends were always hauntingly beautiful to hear...of the ten'nyo maiden and the fisherman... The fisherman who fell in love with the fairy after watching her bathe in the waterfall. A deer aided the fisherman, and he stole the fairy's hagoromo - her winged dress. Unable to return to the heavens, the fairy agreed to be his wife...not knowing that he was the very man who stole her winged dress.
Years passed, and the couple lived happily. They were poor, but content. The fairy gave birth to two children...until one day... She grew more ill by the day. Fairies weren't meant to stay on earth... Her husband loved his wife too much to watch her die and returned her winged dress and she ascended back to the heavens.
Pitying the two star-crossed lovers, the heavens took pity on the fisherman and his wife, and ever year, during the Winter season... The magpies would form a great heavenly bridge, in which the two would once again meet...the aurora season.

Would Iwa... Shinratsu briefly wondered. Would Iwa's festival be as beautiful? For some reason...he can't seem to shake it from his mind today... These thoughts and reminiscences of Kiri...and...they were almost melancholy. Well, perhaps...perhaps it isn't so strange... That village was his home...was his childhood...was the place where he met his friend...was where, while filled with love, hatred, and indifference...a place to be remembered. Leaving...never coming back again... It was once his home...but never again will it be anymore.
Perhaps...perhaps he did love Kiri after all. Can he grow to love Iwa then? Shinratsu mused. Far away from what was once called home...not looking back again... Yet... All he could see before him was the crowded marble streets of Kiri, the Winter Festival...no...in Kiri... Artemis Festival...or Ritual to the Cycle of Life... Fitting as it was. Winter was the end to life, it brings the closing of a spectacular show...yet...it was also the beginning of new life, when the spring flowers would bloom splendidly.
And it was fitting...to attribute the season to the goddess who helped her in her twin brother's birth: Artemis the virgin goddess, the goddess who aids in childbirth...

Shinratsu glanced up and then cast his gaze down, at the position of his shadow on the ground. Surprisingly, it was still fairly early... And Shizuka and Rai was still busy, so another walk probably wouldn't hurt. Besides! The little excursions from the area prove to be excellent for him... If he doesn't think about it, recovering chakra become a less painful wait. So with his mind decided, the Fubuki prince slipped outside the area again. Thankfully, Giglamesh still hasn't returned...so he could do what he wish, provided that the Jounin doesn't return before he does.
The boy glanced down at his pouch. True...he did have one more soldier pill. But he didn't feel like consuming it. It would be a waste, not knowing how his future attempts would turn out...and besides. These things tasted disgusting. He honestly couldn't see how shinobi on the battlefield would bite down these...these...ear-wax tasting pills... He grimaced slightly. Looks like it, too...
---
Hp: 22/22 Cp: 6/29
Last time, he didn't get very far into the canyon...he wanted to see how the chasm would look like from above. Probably extraordinary... Shinratsu mused, with the slightest hint of happiness, as he began the ordealous trail. The birds of the sky are so fortunate... They see the most beautiful things. Hm...that almost makes him wish that he could summon Saphira... What would it be like, to watch...to see things from the sky? The clouds...they seem so free... Floating along the endless blue sky without worry. It certainly was something admirable, something to be envied...in comparison to the hectic shinobi life.
Sometimes, the boy would pause, to note a natural watering hole or something of the like. Briefly, he wondered if Iwa...the civilians of Iwa. Do they perhaps raise cattle? Vegetation was indeed sparse, but closer to the bottom of the mountain, there was certain species of hardy grass growing. Plus, these natural watering holes would make cattle drives possible... The land of Iwa was rugged. Certainly, they would use animals to help plow the fields...
But then again, shinobi could do the work too.
---
Cp: 7/29
Shinratsu snorted. Sometimes, the line between shinobi and civilian conveniences really do become blurred. Do those civilians...do they even recognize the shinobi race as human beings anymore? To Shinratsu...from what he had seen...shinobis had become no more different than a weapon or any other convenient natural resource. Hm... That made him wonder. Was perhaps the Senju clan treated especially terribly, because of their very ability? To be in tune with nature... It's not a terrible thing, yet the civilians treat them as varying as sometimes as those blessed by God, to mere things for their convenience.
Hmph. Was it even necessary? The calls for guards, paying them for as minor tasks as painting fences... And even the shinobi themselves...to live in strongly fortified...these couldn't even be called villages. The hidden villages were fortified cities, practically, with their sizes and populations. Especially the major villages... But he honestly found it foolish...the Great Shinobi Wars of the past...
If they were hated by the non-shinobi world, why stoop to killing each other? It honestly didn't make sense...
---
Cp: 8/29
But that made him wonder...the purpose of the village Sannins... It's not a real rank. Shinratsu was certain of it. Even Yokou...the Hyuuga queen's actual rank would be Jounin, though she was also councilwoman to the Konoha Council of Elders. The Sannin title is a hailing... A hailing as old as time, first used during the Second Great Shinobi War between Konoha and Ame. A hailing by another village's leader, acknowledging three particular shinobi of Konoha as truly strong. In other words...the very first inter-village acknowledgement.
And the shinobi world kept that tradition alive.
The Sannins' existence...was to preserve peace. That is why so many of them lived detached from their villages, Zephyr during his hermit years... What was truly particular about the Sannins weren't their strength. One village alone would hold many spectacularly powerful. That mattered very little. What mattered was...due to their particular position... The Sannins of a village is always the most fortunate.
They can see the world, they are allowed to explore it without restraints...given the chance to find out themselves without bias. That is where true wisdom come from...when the many fortified villages learn to grow just a little closer to each other...
---
Cp: 9/29
As a foreigner... Shinratsu wondered to himself. As a foreigner, was it even possible for him to achieve that rank, here in Iwa? He wasn't hoping for anything past Jounin. He already knew, as a foreign born shinobi, to ever join the ANBU and the hunter division was impossible. Village secrets would be leaked to one who potentially holds other loyalties... No Kage would risk that. Even Zephyr, even Zephyr...he hated it too, didn't the Senju? According to Shizuka, he had clearly forbade Yokou from contacting him...
But what did rank mean? Was it, too, nothing more than a mere title...a mere convenience? Certainly, if one was Chuunin, they could access more documents than the Genins were allowed. However...in the end... Did one truly require rank to be hailed as strong? In official ranking, Shikamori clearly holds higher standing than Yokou. However, in terms of strength...the Nara would probably pale in comparison to his Sannin teammate.
Having briefly spent time with her allowed him a rare insight into the Sannin's way of thinking... She is manipulative indeed, and knows how to take advantage of her situation. What makes the difference wasn't power...Yokou and Zephyr had very different approaches to the same problem, in comparison to the Nara.
---
Cp: 10/29
Shinratsu looked thoughtful. And what if he was more selective about his arsenal? He didn't have to try learn every technique he could get his hands on... As long as he could find the best combination to utilize them...isn't that all that matters? Now that he thought about it... Wasn't a team composed of tank/tank/support? Discounting the squad leader... But generally, that was how a good team was built. The first type of tank is the brunt force, close-based Taijutsu specializing type. So Giglamesh, Cronos, and Raisuke probably will fit that description. So does probably Elruda-chiisai-hime and Yokou-dono. The second type of tank is the more ranged type, and the weapon specialists. The Senju Hokage would fall under this category.
Now that he thought about it...a Ninjutsu master couldn't rightly be considered a tank... Sure, they were capable of inflicting damage, but they required true tanks to protect them, while the time for casting Jutsus were utilized. Oh... Shinratsu believed he understood now. From what he could get from Yokou...her old team... She was the first category tank, while Zephyr was the second category...
However, Shikamori was a support type. Their team was built on a tank/support/support basis... Now...where had he heard about this before?
---
Cp: 11/29
That's right... From an old article he read back in Kiri, describing the functionalities of a team. Several clans of Konoha, although not particularly famous, were however famed for their teamwork capabilities. The Ino-Shika-Chou formation. There were, after all, different type of supporting shinobi too. Between tracking clans like the Hyuuga and Inuzuka, the lines become a little blurred...while they can act as tanks, they could also act as support on recon missions... And though both Zephyr and Yokou specialize in medical ninjutsus, it was simply part of their arsenal. Their nature inclination was towards tank category attacks.
Now, considering the support... Besides the trackers, there were the pure medic-nins, who focuses solely on healing injured comrades. However, pure medics are nearly close to defenseless... And Konoha was famed for developing an excellent system to combat the problem. So, rethinking this... Zephyr was actually a type two support. Both the nature of Gouwan and Mokouton makes it very useful for attacking at a ranged and thus, effectively avoiding the enemy.
And if the supporting medic is alive, he or she can keep his team alive then too. Of course, Genjutsu usage is almost common among supporting types, in the case that the enemy do make it past the tanks and the supporting teammate's own wall of defense. Hm...meaning...
He himself is a type two support too.
---
Cp: 12/29
However, even knowing that... It didn't deter him from his goal of learning Taijutsu. And there was absolutely nothing wrong with that. If he had categorized Zephyr correctly, then he could aim for an arsenal similar to the Hokage's. Hyouton for range, maybe a bit of Suiton too to provide quick resource for his Jutsus...and he'll consider Fuuton later. The Genjutsu field was a possibility, and learning his family's particular form of Taijutsu may be useful...
Come to think of it... Strangely enough, it was a support type form of Taijutsu. Anyhow, he could worry about weapon wielding and actual strength requiring Taijutsu later. The medical and thus Fuuin field would have to come before it. Recalling the events of the last mission, Shinratsu felt his stomach grow cold... He rearranged his order of priorities.
Medical Ninjutsu and starting on Fuuin field first... If he cannot keep himself alive, how can he hope to protect his teammates? And afterwards... Then Hyouton and Suiton field, maybe Fuuton. Finally, Genjutsu and then Fubuki Gamibuyou: Ito no Shikyo Jutsu (String of Death Art).

Cp: 13/29
Well, at least he has his priorities set down now. Though...there was a slight problem. How on earth would he manage to do medical Ninjutsu? While before he still had his right hand but now...since both sides of his body could produce the dangerous Hyouton chakra... That ruled out physical contact, which unfortunately was necessary for the medical field. Shin frowned. Actually, healing at a distance was possible. But it wastes chakra that he doesn't quite have.
What about Suzaku's gale? He still couldn't figure out how to quite activate that technique...but the Warm Southern Gale could potentially act as a guiding medium. And it traps chakra too, so that rules out any of it being wasted. Using the guarding wind to heal... Hn. It was an interesting possibility.

Shinratsu realized he had stopped walking during his contemplation. So he took to it and continued on the trail. But if he wish to start on the medical field... There's much work to be done, in expanding his currently existing knowledge on biology and the human body and its systems, as well as recognizing the thousands of different types of herbs. His memory was excellent, fortunately... That could be put well into use. If he can easily recognize all known existing herbs, if he and his team ever happened to be stranded and injured, he'll know how to treat wounds using nature.
Darn... He was beginning to wish that there was a Senju around at all times. Wouldn't that be convenient now, to have them just grow what was needed? But that would be a bit on the abusive side... And...he still didn't quite understand the Senju's form of dual elemental manipulation... But...in his heart...he had honestly found it to be one of the most beautiful things in the world... Being able to truly create, like that... Shin found himself wondering. Was perhaps the great forests of Konoha created like that?
Probably as romantic a fairy tale as his own village's story about the tennyo. However, it was a nice thought. To his clan who could control the weather and Zephyr's clan who could control nature... But what he truly envied was... Yokou and Zephyr didn't have to worry about dying early thanks to their bloodlimits.

A strangled cry caught his attention and Shinratsu spun around. A fox! And it was trying to drag a baby hawk down from its nest... Taking out a kunai, Shinratsu threw it, purposely missing the fox but enough to scare it so that it would scamper away. And it did, backed away after growling at him. But after a kick from his boots, the fox scampered. Shinratsu picked up the poor shivering creature. "Are you cold?" He whispered, to the baby hawk. He patted its featherless head. Oh. It was still blind too...probably newly hatched.
Shinratsu looked up, and frowned. But where would this chick have fallen from? Don't tell me... Shinratsu paled. Oh yes. Hawks build their nests on promontories. And the only one he could see was the one way above his head.
---
Cp: 16/29
What was he going to do! He didn't even know which way the trail would go. Shinratsu stuffed the bird in his shirt, though he knew his neutral body temperature would hardly do the poor thing any good. "Sorry..." He muttered, half apologetically. "But I'm not exactly the best choice for an insulator..." Looks like there was no other choice but directly up. Shinratsu closed his eyes and concentrated his chakra to his feet. It made him sick, to think that... If concentration is broken for even a moment... He would fall. A long way down. What if he harnessed the chakra system at his hands too?
The gauntlets were created specifically just to distill Hyouton chakra, so it was a possible idea. And he would be much safer, than using just his feet to attach to the rock. Of course, and hope to okami-sama too... That an avalanche doesn't start while he was climbing. But he supposed he was fortunate too, in some aspects.
---
Cp: 17/29
For one instance, granite was rougher than marble, so that would rule out falling thanks to the rock being too slippery. He used his feet to secure his level, while using his hands to gradually pull himself up. Hmph. This was becoming more of physical work... Shinratsu sniffed into his mind, as he painstakingly pulled himself up another level. At times like these, he sure wished that he was a Jounin, who could jump at least fifty feet into the air, using chakra like a trampoline. The chick in his shirt squealed and Shinratsu begged the baby hawk to be quiet for a moment. He didn't want to lose concentration, not now of all times...
Inch by inch, slowly... He progressed up the face of the moutainside that formed part of the canyon.
---
Cp: 18/29
Whoa. Shinratsu quickly ducked his head in, as several small rocky fragments fell, just briefly missing his head. He sweatdropped, watching the fragments fall out of sight below. Somehow, he managed to make it up this far... However, the more he climbed, the more his anxiety grew. Perhaps he shouldn't have even looked down. Seeing this mere height was enough to make his stomach turn. And he wasn't crazy enough like Zephyr, who loved heights like a madman should. Shin sighed, remembering the incident with the avalanche at the mountainside, and continued climbing his way up.
He kind of knew why Yokou didn't suggest it... If not taking a mountain path, this type of climbing was arduous, for the younger shinobi without the proper equipment. However...he didn't want to give up. Wouldn't it...perhaps he was being sentimental...but wouldn't be awful for the little chick's mother, that when she returns, to find her baby missing? The thought was able to fuel strength into his arms, and Shinratsu kept climbing.
---
Cp: 19/29
Thank goodness... He thought, as he had reached the first level mountain path now. Shinratsu dropped to the ground, to catch his breath. The little chick give a few sharp squeaks. ... Shinratsu sighed. He had always taken ninjutsu manipulation for granted. But now he sees...this was not to be... And perhaps, this was the very reason why such an ability was prized. It was...bluntly... A challenge on stamina. On stamina, chakra capacity, and the extent of one's ability to manipulate chakra. Even the slightest edge in it was something to be prized...simply because, like the water walk and tree and wall climbing...while it seemed so ridiculously easy, was also ridiculously difficult.
His muscles were sore too, from pulling his weight up by the mountainside. Now, these were certainly the days that he envied Raisuke. Being so pathetically flimsy in frame...it made him feel helpless compared to the constitution stamina of Raisuke and maybe even that dobe Cronos.
---
Cp: 20/29
Gritting his teeth, Shinratsu decided to start climbing again. Unfortunately, he seemed to have made up his mind too soon, and didn't get past an inch before he fell. Well...thank goodness he haven't left the first level path too far to begin with... Shinratsu thought, as he clutched his lower back, as if in pain. The impact to his bones... If he felt it, that can hardly be good. Shinratsu sighed. Perhaps he should rest a bit more before proceeding on... Well, one thing is certain. For all his troubles, Giglamesh would return certainly before he did, and then he'll be in trouble.
And how was he supposed to explain that, by the way? 'Sensei, I had to help a newborn hawk that was about to get eaten?' Pffft. Giglamesh would probably think he was making some elaborate story, as preposterous as that very thought was for Shin to do something of the like.
---
Cp: 21/29
And so, he resumed the climbing. Inch by inch, he narrowly made it up the mountain face. The premontory appeared closer as he climbed... Well, though it did help elevate spirits, Shinratsu knew better. It seemed closer but that was only an optical illusion. In actuality, he still have much distance to cover: much more area to climb. When he reached the second level of the mountain path...he was absolutely worn out. Though from what he had seen, there was at least two more levels to go, before reaching that cliff.
A feather landed in his lap. Huh?
---
Cp: 22/29
A sharp cry and two red-tailed hawks landed on the jab of rock before him. The little chick in his shirt seemed to grow excited, and chirped happily. Now that Shin took a closer look... Big, yellow eyes was open, as the little chick jumped up and down. The mother (or was it father?)... Either way, one of the adult hawks peered at Shinratsu for a moment. And then, flying so close to him as its wing just barely brushed against his neck (coincidentally, a little above the chick's head), the two hawks began leading the way.
Shinratsu look questioningly. They mean for him to follow, correct?
---
Cp: 23/29
And he saw what they had meant: a cave. Or to be more specific a cave with a tunnel. Shin followed, the bright red feathers of the hawk as a guiding point, and tried to ignore the squeaks of the bats inside. Pretty soon, there was light on the other side...the promontory! A shortcut... The two hawks have trusted him enough to show him a shortcut, knowing he was incapable of climbing further.
Shinratsu bowed his head slightly at the birds, in a gesture of thanks, before reaching into his shirt, he pulled out the baby hawk, and handed it to its parents. He could've sworn the little bird waved its small wing 'goodbye' at him, before one of the parents gently took the chick in its claws and placed it gently back in the nest.
---
Cp: 24/29
A slight blush crossed Shinratsu's face at this...motherly gesture. He was almost certain of it now. The duller coloured hawk that had just taken the chick was the mother, while the more flamboyant male was the father. The mother hawk seemed to nudge the father hawk and though the other bird looked hesitant, finally agreed, to whatever it was. The mother hawk made a gesture of following the father hawk, and then returned to her nest. Shinratsu at first didn't quite catch her meaning. But after she repeated it again, he knew. She wanted him to follow the father hawk... And if he was to guess, the father hawk would show him the way back...
---
Cp: 25/29
The cave wasn't so frightening, as every once a while, when the bats would get close, the male red-tailed hawk would allow a screech, which sent the bats reeling back in fear. The way down was longer... Shinratsu guessed the cave was connected to all levels of the mountain. And by the looks of it, it was a manmade cave. Interesting... Shinratsu thought he just caught the sight of firewood remains and...old blankets? But it didn't look like a miner's place...
Perhaps this cave...perhaps it has something to do with Iwa's history...
---
Cp: 26/29
That's right. He remember now. During Iwa's civil war... For Keiko's class back at the Academy, one of the assignments required him to write a full length essay on the history of Iwa. Shinratsu had gotten full score on that essay - it did not miss a single detail. And he remembered being especially intrigued about the civil war... Did perhaps... It was possible The rebels could've possibly once camped here, and judging by the stalactites and staligmites...this cave wasn't shaped by nature but by human hands. Taida clan, perhaps?
The hawk he was following gave a warning cry. Oops! He was lagging behind. Shinratsu quickened his steps.
---
Cp: 27/29
Soon enough, they met daylight, but Shinratsu found him staring down...at the river below. Sure, they have gotten to the first level. But...that was quite some fall. He looked at the hawk, as if in dismay, and needing of an answer. The red-tailed hawk, floating in the air next to him, glanced at Shinratsu, then at the river. Wait a moment... This was the most shallow part of the river too. Shinratsu sweatdropped. If this was the only way to get down...then... Why not!
"Arigatou!" He told the hawk, before jumping.
---
Cp: 28/29
The fall was terrifying, but the plummet was worse. And Shinratsu shut his eyes as he contacted water, and broke the surface, down and down sinking to below... Opening his eyes, he kicked and broke surface again, gasping for air. He waved at the hawk, still waiting at the promontory above. Seeing his charge safe, the bird turned and took flight, gaining height, back to his family... As for Shinratsu, he waded out of the river. Water dripped, from his soaked yukata, and onto the ground.
After removing both of his gauntlets, he focused, using the wind to spread his Hyouton chakra all over the water on his clothes. And in a single gesture, shattered the ice on his clothing, leave it as dry and untouched as before he had contacted the river. Smiling, and satisfied that he had done a good deed, Shinratsu headed back to where Shizuka and Rai was. There was training to finish.
And he had just found an interesting method to do it...

Cp: 29/29
A thought has been tugging at his mind for a while now. Shinratsu looked down at his hands. Left side for Hyouton...right side for Fuuton... What if...? True, his clan's form of Hyouton manipulation was no longer considered true dual elemental manipulation...however... What if he makes it dual elemental anyways? Thus far, he had only observed one form of his clan's Hyouton...with single nature manipulation, they were able to superchill air and water molecules around themselves and create tundra fields. However...what was important was that they had separated Hyouton and Fuuton manipulation. Hyouton became only utilized for the stormcaster Jutsus while Fuuton...Fuuton was used a defensive measure.
However...the latter techniques grow noticeably different. Beginning from the blizzard technique...the Jutsu that used the dragon's breath... Instead of Hyouton becoming the direction and source of power, the wind instead was entrusted with the execution of the technique. Shinratsu glanced at the pillar before him. It was quite an exact spot... He'll have to strike it just right.

Shin decided to experiment with his new idea. If his suspicions was correct... Then, it was perfectly possible to use the wind as a guiding point, while utilizing Hyouton for power. The path of the wind could be focused much easier, and thus provide more accuracy for striking exactly where he wanted on the pillar: the middle area where he had been attacking all this time, until the pillar would shatter into oblivion. He quickly considered the thought on distance. Ninjutsus are indeed more effective, more dangerous when used in close range... However, his type of manipulation would be better off at a distance: where the wind could gather more power before lashing the pillar in a splendid strike of ice and wind.
The boy trodded back and formed the initial seal to concentrate his chakra, before dropping it. Left hand...Hyouton... And even if his right side now too could produce the same dangerous chakra... Right side...Suzaku's wind of protection... The pattern of the wind around his right arm shifted, wrapping around it. Come, rise. Seiryuu. Bare your fangs to the world. The wind pattern became more noticeable...a dragon...?

Shinratsu placed his left hand behind his right, slipping his fingers through the spaces between the open faced palm of the right. The wind roared, and the dragon attacked: it striked the pillar, ripping at its injured side with its fangs. The Hyouton part of the attack had become it's fangs and scales... Shinratsu's eyes widened. W-what was that...? Before the dragon disappeared, one more great roar of the wind, before it dissipated from the many compressed directions of the wind it was created from. That... Impossible. There was no way he could just perform that merely from memory.
Tappa tappa. The boy drew closer, and carefully observed the damage done. Impressionable... He mused. But that wasn't complete... The dragon of the sky and heavens...still, he knows now...it stands by his side. And from the last glance Kouryuu gave him before disappearing...it awaits the day when he can truly master that technique.

In his excitement, he had forgotten about the vest. Pained slightly from the constriction, Shinratsu winced. It would be pointless to pursuit completion, for now. Readjust chakra flow... He thought to himself. Provide a buffering layer. Hm...he could really envy Elruda-chiisai-hime's presence, at times like this. Shinratsu mused, as after a few experiments, he finally adjusted his chakra flow right to fight back against the weights. Shinratsu glanced back at the pillar. It's support was unstable now... One more strike, and he would be finished. There was a certain excitement...a certain triumph in that thought... For one of those rare times, he had been pushed to the limits, this time his chakra capacity...and as tiring and tedious this assignment was...
He had also gained much valuable knowledge. True, it was much self-contemplation but one can learn much from reflection. Shinratsu held up a hand forth at the pillar, and clenched it tightly into a fist. "Watch me..." He murmured, to no one in particular.
Okami-sama if you're there...
Father and mother in heaven...
Tai, Giglamesh, Keiko...
Even Shizuka and Rai...
