Xi-Wang

Some people, maybe even most, might notice their partner being possessive and jealous...but Xi-Wang was rather clueless when it came to such things. it was perhaps why he didn't mind being led away, further away from Rhona and whoever she was headed towards. they were, thankfully, doing the same as Rhona though. Already at the exit he pulled Caleb in tight and held onto him close. "I think I saw something in the fog...but it seemed impossible...like a thin leg of something...spindly" He spoke into the others ear, moving in close so he could do so.

So many people were already in front of the exit, and trying to get out, he wondered if there wouldn't be some stampede and dead bodies on the ground - he really hoped not. This really seemed like the sort of situation that would lead to that.

"We'll be ok...right?" Backing up just enough to look the others face over, while gripping at Caleb's shirt. They would make it home...he hoped. He couldn't even power up and feel a bit safer...a bit stronger and more capable.
He was stuck like this...and he didn't like it.

Lauri Virtainen

Something definitely not human shoved against him in the dark and Lauri lashed out to give himself some space. There was only one person the gloom he cared to put his back to at that moment - a packmate, one to have his back in whatever stupidity came next.

Then he heard it, his name, growled out. Ah, yes. There you are.

"Archer." Shoulder to shoulder, familiar. Solid. "Mit nyt?" Another command, could his guard dog tell what was going on? Lauri couldn't see in the gloom, but perhaps Archer could - he was far more at home in the darkness, after all.

If you roll a 4-7 you manage to make your way towards the exit with minimal difficulties, but you find yourself bumping into people and things along the way.

Jack Burnett (dressed as Disney's Peter Pan)

If you roll an 8-10 you arrive in one piece without any difficulties. In fact, your vision seems so good that you can almost make out a few large, oddly shaped figures rapidly darting across the room behind the crowd.

Leiko Shuuya (can't afford a costume)

If you roll a 1-3 you wind up having a bit of trouble; someone keeps stepping on your foot and you’ve suddenly become acquainted with a lot of elbows. If you are unlucky you might trip—or worse, find that you have bumped into something large and hairy that quickly scuttles away.

Rhona Lee -- Winnie Sanderson

Xi-Wang may have missed how Caleb pulled him away but Rhona did not. She missed things, that much was certain. She wasn't lying when she said that she was unobservant, but she never missed a trick when her family was involved. So this young man saw her as a threat for some reason. Rhona's expression fouled as she followed them with her eyes, vanishing into the blackness. She had no doubt that if push came to shove, Xi-Wang was now capable of protecting both himself and his beau but... that didn't stop the sting of worry in her gut. If any harm came to Xi... Caleb and Rhona would be having... words...

Rhona pressed her way through the crowd, part of her relieved that now she only had to worry about herself. The ringing of Lavender's words still echoed in her mind, warming her all over. Lavender cared enough not only to call out to her when s**t hit the fan but... to threaten her with reincarnation and secondary death should harm befall her. Rhona didn't even bother to stop the stupid grin from spreading over her face as she followed the sound of her voice, clinging to it like a lifeline.

When she reached the other woman, Rhona gently touched her elbow, a gesture that she would swear up and down until the end of time that was meant to alert Lavender to her presence and was totally not because of the sparkly feeling she got in her fingers when she touched her.

"Do you really want to spend that much time with me, after all that," she asked with laughter in her voice. In the darkness she made out a shape next to Lavender... another friend? Rhona realized suddenly that aside from working magic with makeup... she didn't know that much about Lavender. She'd been... swept up in the romance and idea of her... forgotten to learn... anything. She slipped her shoes back on, now that she was stationary, and then held her hand out to the human-shaped shadow beside Lavender.

"This may not be a time for introductions but... I'm Rhona Lee. Lav's... work friend." The word friend sent another painful stab through her stomach.

Virell deVilliers

Virell hadn’t had the opportunity to respond to Lavender’s words when said ex appeared. He regretted that he hadn’t had the opportunity to discuss with Lavender how he should act around the woman, but he assumed that if Lavender was still worried about her that they must have been at least slightly amicable.

Virell’s vision wasn’t entirely the best in the dark; he didn’t see the hand she offered. Even if he’d been able to see in the darkness, he might not have taken it and feigned blindness—at least, if only because he still wasn’t sure what Lavender’s preferred etiquette towards the woman was going to be.

“You must have excellent eyesight to find us in all of these people,” he noted instead. “I haven’t got a clue how you knew I was standing here next to her, I can’t see you at all. But I’ll trust that you are who you say, Rhona Lee. My name is Virell. If the circumstances were different, I’d be glad to meet you. As it stands, I’m afraid this puts a bit of a damper on the situation.”

He had half a mind to pry; there was a part of him that was incredibly catty. It stemmed mostly from being overprotective from what little friends he’d had.

Work friend, sure.

Lavender had already revealed the juicy details.

He had little restraint and caved; “Work friend, though. Where is it you work again, Rhona? I’m very interested to know what you do.”

He wasn’t, but he feigned it well enough. He figured he wasn’t crossing any boundaries. At least, for now. If he was, Lavender could always elbow him.

Malcolm Everly

When the lights went out, Malcolm’s hands immediately went to his camera. For the briefest moment he thought about using the flash on the camera to illuminate the area but it occurred to him quickly that blinding someone else wasn’t fair to them—and if the lights were out, he’d just have been creating a beacon to himself.

He didn’t want any extra trouble.

Judging by the sound of things, everyone was already making their way towards the only visible exit and Malcolm figured now was a good time to slide in with the crowd and let them guide his movement.

He might not have had any idea what was going on—or, especially what had broken the glass—but he knew that he’d feel safer in a group.

Probably. At least, as long as he stopped getting jostled so much--but, honestly? He'd have taken that over being alone, anyway.

The wave of people attempting to reach the Exit might have seemed overwhelming, but as soon as the doors opened it allowed a flood of people to exit.

Only, they didn’t find themselves facing a beautiful, open garden or the introduction to the maze—they found themselves running face first into a wall of sticky, messy, white.

This wasn’t fog: this was a web.

And, it most certainly hadn’t been there before the rain began, which meant that somehow spiders had managed to cover the entire building in less than half an hour. Normal spiders couldn’t do that, so this was clearly one of two things:

An army of normal spiders, in great numbers, that somehow managed to work in tandem to weave a net over the building…or some very, very large spiders with far greater resources and mobility.

Regardless, you probably don’t want to find out which one fell through the roof.

At least outside you have the benefit of the nighttime lighting; you’re going to have to risk running through the web to get outside. If it was any consolation, at least out there you'd be able to see what was preparing to eat you.

Quote:
Prepare to roll!
It’s clear that you’re not safe yet; the sight of the webs likely means you have a good understanding of what’s lurking in the room behind you. While most of the lights are out, a few bright lights are visible just beyond the wall of webs; get out now, before you lose the opportunity! Roll a ten sided dice to determine how your escape goes! If you roll a 1-3 you wind up having a bit of trouble; the web clings to you and your clothes. It is itchy and uncomfortable and you will expend a lot of energy struggling to get free. You may find yourself sticking to the web, yourself, or someone else; patches and ropes of web cling to you even after you tear through the barrier. If you roll a 4-7 you manage to tear through the web minimal difficulties, but the web clings tightly and forces you to expend some energy to tug away. You may wind up sticking to the web, yourself, or someone else as you struggle free. If you roll an 8-10 you manage to tear through the webbing with minimal difficulties! You get a good look at the area and have a few extra seconds to plan what you’re going to do next. You spot a crate of loose metal stakes and have the option of grabbing one! (You can only grab one in this post and if you choose to pick one up, please indicate in all future posts that you have retrieved a metal stake by including that information next to your character’s name at the top of your post!)

Remember, there is no powering up during this event—it's simply too dangerous and you risk being seen! Even though it is dark now, you don’t know if the lights are going to flicker on and risk you outing yourself. You will have a little more than 24 hours to respond to this prompt before the next one, so act fast! This RP is still open to new posters (and will stay open for people to join!) but if you miss a prompt, your character will automatically be sorted into the lowest rolling tier and you will be expected to respond as if you rolled between a 1-3!

There is no need to tally points; this is not a race! You simply need to respond to the prompts as they are posted. You can stick with a group; the dice rolls will only affect the severity at which your character is affected by prompts and will not ever force you to separate from your party.

Miles Fury

He made it to the exit, swept along and surreptitiously fishing a smoke out of the inner pocket of his leather duster. Miles was about to light up when he made it out the door and smacked flat into something...squishy. And itchy. And...white?

And...sticky....and...with a faintly familiar scent.

"Aw hell naw--" Miles lost his s**t temporarily because <********. spiders.

After having a very manly mental break down and mosh-pit thrashing his way through the heavy film of vile webbing, he crouched to one side and lit up - there was absolutely no way he could face any more of this bullshit straight. Nope. ******** it. The whole Garden was a loss. They had to set the whole damn thing on fire. A Cleansing was necessary now.

RIP Destiny City Botanical Garden.

Lysander Cadwell (Dressed as a modern vampire)

The lights shutting off was worrying and as Lysander looked around he started to get that 'god what now' feeling crawling up his neck. "I don't think this is ... ********." As he was trying to answer Basil something bumped into him. Something large, furry, and skuttly, bumped into him knocking his glass out of his hand and him into his new friend.

Thankfully the wine glass hit the floor, none of the contents going over either himself or Basil. That didn't mean he didn't end up with his hands on the other man's shoulders as he tried not to hit the floor.

"Okay, i don't what to know what i just bumped into," He had a good guess though."So i think it's time we made our exit, come on." Lysander wasn't about to leave Basil stuck in a room full of what he was going to assume were very unfriendly spiders. Snagging the other man's hand he tugged him toward the door, the giant webbing covering the exit only confirming his suspicions about that other guests at the party.

The webbing was sticky but not too bad, tearing easily enough even if it tried to stick to his clothes.

Tom and Jason Wolf (dressed up respectively as Sherlock Holmes and Watson respectively.)

Jason laughed to himself as the other teen accepted Tom's offer. Perhaps after all of this they could get to know each other. Though he wasn't sure if they would all get along. The Wolf's were an affluent family too, but tended not to show it off at least. This teen seemed to flaunt it all about.

"All right then, I'll lead the way!" Jason said excitedly and immediately after regretting the decision as he ran face first into... webbing. Oh no... He thought to himself as he tried to get it off. Neither of the brother's where any sort of arachnophobes but getting spider web on yourself was never a pleasure. It was sticky and gross, though it would be a lot better if it didn't feel like random strands of hair on the skin that were practically invisible. At least you could see hair strands.

"Uh guys... there are probably giant spiders around here." At least it wasn't attacking plants at least. Tom sighed and after he and Mahogany managed to get to Jason, Tom started to help his brother out of the webbing. "Giant spiders again..." he mumbled as he had a bit of an easier time getting through the webbing that Jason. However, it seemed that there had been even more screaming with people realizing what exactly all of the white stuff was now, and it was almost deafening. Conversation was almost moot at this point.

Derrick Keenan (dressed as Rick O'Connell from The Mummy)
Derrick felt himself relax, though only a bit as she accepted his help and actually leaned on him. Now it was actually trying to get out of here that would be the trick. It seemed though that since it had taken so long, that most of the, what was now known as webbing, had been torn through and she he easily made it through the barrier, though he tried to help Gisela through it as much as he could.
He stayed with her as he tried decide where they should go next when he saw a crate of metal posts and decided to pick one up. He barely had time to question WHY there was a box of metal stakes just sitting there, but if anything it only meant this attack was planned.

Sachio Sugiyama (dressed as BotW Link sans pointy ears)
After this Sachio decided that he was going to kill every spider that he ever saw from now on. Sure, he made it through the webbing pretty easily, but the fact that instead of it being a negaverse agent attack but instead a giant youma spider attack? Well, he would have preferred the agents. Instead there was gross, sticky web around everywhere and he was really wishing that he had brought that hooded cloak that he had gotten with this costume. But NO. He had to think that he actually wouldn't NEED it. Well, that was certainly a mistake he would never make again.

Kathryn McAdams - not dressed up

Kathryn stared in dismay at the large webbing that spanned in front of the group. Already she could see others try to break through the large structure with varying levels of success. Kathryn never really cared for arachnids but she knew how important they were to keep an ecosystem balanced. Although somehow she didn't think that she would ever be considered food for a spider. Watching another make their way through the web Kathryn grit her teeth and followed in that person's path. It seemed like a better strategy than blinding running into the structure. At least if she followed after someone the web would be weaker, yes?

If only the ends of the web didn't cling so much to her clothing. Kathryn found herself still managing to get through the web but there had been trouble areas. At one point she seemed almost completely immobolized before giving a sharp tug with her whole body. The webbing around her tore and she was then free. Panting just a little from the exertion and also fearing what might come next Kathryn huddled away from the main group trying to calm herself down.

Michiko Wakahisa X

Michiko was still with Toby she was nervous and afraid, still wondering if this was all somehow a Halloween prank. At least she wasn't the only one who was clueless about the shapes moving that they had seen. Then Michi got close enough to the exit to see there was white webbing all over the door as people pushed and moved trying to get out. Michiko got stuck in the webbing and she struggled only managing to get herself more stuck. She was stuck in more spider web than she had ever seen in her whole life. She was too panicked at the moment to yell for help.

Izobel Beckett (Black Widow from Marvel)

AS Izobel stared out at the expanse of web that was now blocking her escape to the maze she couldn't help but chuckle softly as she made a connection between what was out there and her costume choice for the evening. It was sort of funny that she chose her outfit purely on what she had available at home and also on what looked good for a redhead online. Though the current situation was not exactly a reason to laugh she couldn't help it. Her she was dressed as Black Widow and the common enemy that everyone seemed to be facing were spiders. Shaking her head and clamping her mouth closed Izobel knew she could not stay behind and she charged forwards through the section of web that she stood in front of.

The trip through the web was arduous. At times it almost seemed as if she were completely stuck but then a strong jerking of the trapped limb would result in becoming unstuck once more. In the end she burst through the webbing and paused to take in the sights. The maze stood seemingly untouched by white and Izobel knew that perhaps that was the way in which to escape. She eyed those in the crowd that held metal stakes and wondered where they had found them. She wouldn't mind one.

Rayna Farrell - as Wednesday Addams

Of course, it just had to be spiders. Rayna found spiders to be tolerable but that was it. If she came across one in her house it general went the way of being squished or stomped on. Others in the wild had a right to live. But now ... Rayna stared in horror at the obstacle that was in everyone's path to what she hoped was relative safety. Maybe her way of thinking would be changed after this encounter. She rubbed at her bare arms as she contemplated just staying behind but that wouldn't be such a good idea. Considering the sounds that had been echoing in the reception hall Rayna just knew that spiders had probably infested the building already. It was hard to believe that this amount of web had been laid down in such a short period of time. Gritting her teeth and knowing what needed to be done Rayna shot herself forward and started to tear at the web as it closed around her. Strands of silk clung to every surface, even in her hair and she bit back the frustrated scream that she wanted to give voice too.

It would do no good to panic and flail around. Doggedly the teen worked through the web that caught at her costume, her bare arms and even her face and hair. With a last burst of energy she found herself tearing through the last vestiges of spider silk and emerging on the other side. Remnants of spider webs clung to her body and she tiredly tried to brush them off before letting them be. It lent more credence to who she had dressed up as. She didn't like the feeling but she would have to tolerate it. Exhausted from her small fight she glanced around before spying the maze.

Pythia (Breakfast at Tiffany's dress)

Great. Spiderweb. Imbrium snarled and hissed, strugglig her way desperately through the web. Stupid damn spiders! Stupid- this wasn't fog! This had never been fog!

It clung to her tightly, sticking to the little black dress, and as she tore her way through, parts of her dress tugged and tore.

This was her nicest dress, and now she'd have to get it repaired. Or beg her parents for help. Stupid spiders! Stupid Destiny Shitty.
