Walking into the cafe and sitting down, the two were brought menus, Skye ordering his black decaf coffee and Scarlett ordering her Irish one. "An' here I thought ya were jokin'." Skye insisted with mild concern. "I never joke." Scarlett insisted with a smirk, causing Skye to guffaw with amusement. "And I'm not a pilot." Skye grinned. "Maybe ya don't joke about liquor, I'll give ya that at least." Scarlett nodded in approval. "I certainly needed a drink..." Scarlett sighed. Her coffee couldn't come soon enough. "What's on yer mind doll? Errythin' alright?" Skye asked, concerned. Scarlett gave a small smile and shook her head. "Daen't worry about it." She insisted. "Bit late for that." Scarlett hesitated, but before she could decide on anything, the waiter brought their drinks. Scarlett ordered a panini and some soup, rather hungry since she still hadn't eaten any lunch, and took a large swig of her whiskey infused coffee, sighing contently. "Ah... Tha's the stuff. Ya sure ya won't try?" Scarlett offered mischievously, but Skye waved her offer down. "I may be off duty now, but that don't mean I can drink.""Oh come on.... Live a little. I won't tell no one." Scarlett insisted. Skye grunted and finally took her offer. One swig couldn't hurt he supposed, and it did make him feel warmer.... And now Scarlett was out of coffee. "I think we need another one of these..." Scarlett muttered. "Maybe later. Slow it down would ya? Or is a sit down with me really forcin' ya to drink this much? I mean I know I can be hard to stand at times, but..." He gave her a self deprecating smile, and Scarlett chuckled, shaking her head. "It's not you. Not really." Scarlett mumbled, ordering and sharing another Irish Coffee with Skye in spite of his objections. "Then what is it? You know you can tell me anythin'... Right? If you're ever in any trouble, or..." He shrugged, not really sure what it could be that she was struggling with. Scarlett laughed mirthlessly. "You keep tellin' me that...""Well it's true.""I'm not the one ya should be worried about. Ifn I wanted to, I could disappear. No one would find me. No... Ifn I get in trouble, it's you that'd get hurt. They'd use ya to get me to come outta hiding, and then we'd both be right up shite's creek." Scarlett suggested, keeping her voice low. The crowded cafe was a decent location to have this conversation, it was noisy, they could keep their discussion quiet enough so that they could hear each other and no one else, as long as Skye cooperated.
Skye looked at Scarlett long and hard. "What's all this about....?" Skye asked seriously. "Ya need to get outta here Skye... Lay low far a while. I daenno what your family's up to, but maybe send 'em on a nice vacation er somethin'.... Fer like.... A few months. Get outta dodge, buy them a new home somewhere under a different name. I can give ya the money, just promise you'll do it." Scarlett rambled. "Scarlett, what's goin' on?" Skye demanded a little harder, keeping his voice down so that he didn't attract attention. "Most importantly, daen't call me that. You daen't know me. You helped da out a bit by babysittin' me an' after I left you neva' saw me again. I'm nothin' mare than a friend of a friend ya barely knew, I'm probably dead and you daen't think I'd remember you cause I was so young. Got it?" Skye hesitated and nodded, looking disgruntled. "Yeah, but... I don't understand..." Scarlett shook her head. "Ya daen't need to, other than what I just said. The less ya know, the better. I just pray to Arceus it daen't come ta this...." She insisted.
With Vandal seeing Skye, even though he excused himself, Scarlett could feel herself getting paranoid. Zak knew her name, somehow he'd found her. She didn't know how, but she didn't want Skye and the Ampere's getting into this mess, nor did she want Klepto going after them if Vandal really was still working for the clown somehow and gathering intel on her. "You don't know me anymore. No mare favors, no more meetin's. You see me, you pretend I'm a stranger. Even if I approach ya, even if I talk to ya, ya daen't know me. Take an extended vacation. Get out." Scarlett reiterated. "Scar..." Scarlett glared at Skye. Had he not been listening? "I said--""Let's go together then." He insisted, and Scarlett froze. "What...?" She asked flatly, staring at him. "You an' me. We'll go off somewhere, hide away. If you can disappear then I can too, right? We'll send my parents off somewhere and we won't know where, and we'll go together." Scarlett still wasn't quite processing his offer. "You want... No.... That won't...""Why not? If you're all worried about me, then keep me close, don't push me away..." He reasoned. "I can't. That's...That's not going to work..." Scarlett insisted. "Give me one reason why.""Because... I need to be able to... I can't just..." Scarlett cursed under her breath, too confused and angry to make her thoughts coherent, and Skye smiled triumphantly. "No. You aren't comin' with me." Scarlett insisted with finality.

She had plenty of reasons why it was better to separate. If they went together, it would be more obvious as a pair, whereas if she were an individual it would be easier to pass off as a mistaken identity. Separately, Skye didn't seem associated with her, he had a chance of getting out of this cleanly. Separately, he could get out of her life and the trouble she caused them. Seperately, Scarlett could continue to appease Zak's demands so that he didn't try to go after Skye in the first place. Separately, she didn't alert Zak of her connections to Skye. Yet she couldn't articulate any of this to him. He took her hand in his, seeing the panic slowly spreading across her face. "If we go together, you'll know I'm safe, 'cause I'll be there with you. We'll watch each other's backs, just like the old days. We'll make a new life somewhere, just... Let me come with you this time, please." He smiled wanly. His earlier words echoed in Scarlett's mind. Day. Days, weeks, months..... Maybe a year or five, but hey... Who's counting, right? Skye's heart had broken when she'd disappeared all those years after Sean's death. She'd cut all connections with them for so long, now she wished she'd kept them cut like Cassandra had told her. It was better that way. "I can't.... I can't Skye. I'm no good. I've always been no good, and you need to stop counting." Scarlett said hoarsely. Their waiter returned with her food, and Scarlett's miserable expression brightened immediately. "Ah, thanks, you know, I think I'll take this to go actually." She suggested, standing and turning to Skye. "It was nice meeting you. Thanks for lunch." She said, her voice back up to a normal volume, perhaps even slightly louder as she gave a courteous smile, and walked away after the waitress for her food before exiting the cafe.
It didn't take long to find Vandal, he was by the pokemon center, since that had been their initial planned meet up spot. Scarlett worked to keep a neutral expression, not the crestfallen one that she wanted to wear, nodding cordially to Vandal. "Oh man.... You got food??" The disguised zoroark licked his lips. "Yeah, wanna trade?" She offered, handing him the bag of untouched food in exchange for her egg. "Hot damn. You sure you don't want any?" Scarlett shook her head, putting the egg in her bag while Vandal stuffed his face with her sandwich. "Gonna be kwinda hard tmo eant soup sftandin' up." Vandal pointed out, and Scarlett rolled her eyes. "Go into the center and find a table then, but hurry up. We need to leave." Scarlett demanded. Vandal nodded eagerly and made his way inside. With the zoroark busy, Scarlett mulled about the runway, watching the cargo planes take off and land, trying not to think of Skye sitting in the cafe, staring at his coffee and processing what just happened. Hearing footsteps behind her. Scarlett sighed. "That didn't take long. What'd ya do, inhale the whole--" As she turned, she didn't find Vandal, as she expected. Instead, Skye caught her and pulled her close into a long kiss, which Scarlett couldn't help but indulge in, just a little. "Sorry, but I couldn't let you get away that easy..." He murmured. Scarlett felt infuriated. People were staring, he was drawing attention to them both. She didn't want to do this right now. She had said her quick and painless goodbye, she had left and moved on, and now here Skye was doing exactly what she told him not to do.... And yet she felt... relieved, in a way. He was like a drug, comforting, sedating, appeasing. As angry as she felt, she couldn't really.... Be angry at him. It was why she couldn't stay away all these years, knowing she should, but now she really needed to stop. One last time. One more hug, one more goodbye. That was it, just one more. It was never going to end, was it? She was going to stay addicted to him. She was going to want to make small talk, she was going to be with him, and pretend like everything was okay, and then one day she would bite off more than she could chew and he would be the one to suffer for it.
With a good shove, Scarlett forced a bewildered Skye off of her. She should shoot him herself. It would be quick, painless, she wouldn't have to worry about him any more. He wouldn't be in danger, he wouldn't be tortured, or taken somewhere and held for her ransom. In the end though, she knew she couldn't kill him. Maybe this would be enough to get the point across his thick skull though. "I understand I'm good lookin' an' all, but get handsy like that with me again and I'll scream assault. Savy?" It was a test, a warning. If he couldn't handle her instructions, then she may as well kill him now mercifully, because he was as good as dead. Skye raised his hands slowly, defensively, and nodded. "What seems to be the problem here?" One of the other cargo pilots asked, approaching. "He offered me lunch, we had some drinks, but maybe he had a little too much." Scarlett suggested pointedly as she watched the pilot approach Skye and smell the whiskey on him. Thank Arceus she'd had him sneak some sips to make it more convincing. If he wasn't going to cooperate properly, then she had to force her hand. He left her no choice. Rather.... That was what she kept telling herself. If he lost his job over this, he'd have no reason to stay here. He could leave, hide, lay low, and she could find ways to send him and his family money, but he couldn't stay here. "I see.... Thank you for letting us know. We'll take it from here." Scarlett nodded, looking at Skye, taking in his betrayed expression. Don't do anything stupid, Skye. She thought sadly, keeping her expression a hard neutral one. With that, she started walking towards the pokemon center, calling her ride charizard to get Vandal and leave now before any other excitement occurred.

Meebus stared back at Zak, and for the first time, ever, the rotom almost seemed annoyed. It was hard to tell why Zak got that vibe, though; his expression still generally seemed as blank as ever. Perhaps it was the silence. ".... Perhaps you should respond to her message," he replied simply, before turning, and going to join the others in search of the egg. Zak sneered a bit and looked after him, but checked his watch. He actually did have a response from her, though, no surprise. She was usually fairly fast to respond. The thought made him smirk a bit, before he popped open the message to read it.

Frowning, Zak looked down to find that Scarlett had replied. He took a deep breath and let it out. This whole thing was a distraction, honestly, but it was one he'd take. He certainly wasn't training at the moment, so he might as well tackle the conversation. He'd try and get back to training at some point, whenever they were in the right sort of areas. Then, hell, he didn't know. Maybe he'd check out a battle tower, or just see if he could freaking bulldoze the last two gym leaders, before moving on to another region. After all, if she was going to throw numbers around, he'd get numbers. He had some pokemon he could train up, anyway, and still keep some stronger ones around to keep things easy. Numbers weren't difficult.
.... But apparently freaking replying on time was. He looked up as his team found another egg before he coudl reply to Scarlett, and he postponed that while he contacted someone else to transport him. Lidia was having a fit, but there were plenty other agents around that could teleport him.

He wondered what it would be like to fly one. They were certainly a whole different system than the subway, that was for certain. His father had taught him a thing or two on how the trains worked; levers and buttons and a vast amount of electric (or coal, if they were the older models) made those things move. Planes… probably worked in a similar fashion, but with fuel and other mechanics. Because there was no way a piloting crew would have time to be shoveling coal to keep the plane aloft. That would be just … terrible.

Lafayette shook his and stifled another yawn and followed Cheri through the lit streets. Most of the stores were closed for the night and the streets were rather barren save for a few late-night stragglers. It was crazy to see the world after the sun went down; it was rather… serene if anything. Not that he could really enjoy it; he was getting tired. Cheri seemed to recognize the struggle her trainer was going through to try and maintain an active state and so she headed towards one of the few shops that was still open at this point. She tugged on his pant leg and gestured for him to go in and get himself something to keep him awake, poking Noah and indicating he follow suit. Cheri just ushered them forward; she seemed perfectly content with locating the next egg by herself, despite the dark and deserted streets she’d be travelling to do so. Lafayette didn’t look entirely certain but didn’t hesitate in the end, walking in with Noah to get something to help keep them awake. Luckily, it was a little coffee shop and he managed to grab himself the most caffeinated over-sized cup that he could, along with a bit of coffee cake. It would work, some sugar and caffeine, and he nabbed two donuts for Noah and Cheri. By the time he finished his purchasing and headed outside, the little pink thing was there with an egg in her grasp. That was overly quick. He swapped the egg for a donut, which she seemed to appreciate and called out Dova once more to move on out. Just… a few more places to go.

Heather hummed softly to herself, deciding that their trip needed a little music, then leaned in to rest her head against Tropius’ neck, which the pokemon didn’t seem to mind. It was something of a gentle giant, she was quick to realize, with a bit of an attitude, which made things a bit more amusing. She recalled the way the large pokemon had shook its passengers off, it’d certainly been annoyed by their arguing! In a way, it reminded her of their mother. She couldn’t stand it when she and Lysander argued either.
