Falkner had felt little more than powerless through the whole battle with Ajicka, what with his Pidgey being frozen and then his Pidgeotto attacking itself over and over in confusion. To think that they would be taken out by a little Smoochum.... Falkner watch in dismay as the Pidgeotto flopped to the ground in a heap of feathers, quiet for a moment before finally speaking. ".....For pity's sake! My dad's cherished bird pokemon..." Falkner sighed, returning the Pidgeotto to it's pokeball reluctantly, unable to look at the larger bird as he did. "Very well, I suppose you've won fair and square. Here..." Falkner approached Ajicka with a badge and a disk. "The Zephyr badge, it proves you've beaten me and this is the TM for Roost." Falkner explained, handing the items over before looking to the boy who'd been waiting to challenge him as well. "Don't think your battle will go as smoothly. I'll be back, and then I'll show you the true power of bird pokemon!" Falkner turned with a huff. He didn't mean to come off edgy, but he was pretty upset about his loss, and people never took flying types seriously, blowing them off as easy to take down with a little ice or electricity. It wasn't fair, at least in his opinion. Honestly, he just hoped that his pokemon faired better against Sebastian.

Sebastian thought a moment, raising his hands as he tried to describe the mentioned pokemon. "I suppose it was rather big… and red. It sort of looked like a giant Y now that I think of it…" He remarked thoughtfully, shaking his head. It was probably just some over-sized common pokemon. Kind of like Magikarps turning into Gyrados.
He listened as she mentioned another potential baby pokemon. Huh, that was something he’d have to check into then. The idea of a baby Electabuzz was sort of funny. From what he recalled, it was a rather tough looking pokemon on its own. Either way…
He followed Ajicka into the gym, standing off to the side to watch, only giving a minor wave as she suggested that he was there to challenge too. Boy, she was certainly forward wasn’t she? Of course, with so many badges already under her belt, the attitude probably came naturally. Sebastian watched the battle between Ajicka and Falkner with… awe? Amazement? Some level of impressiveness. Smoochum had certainly held her own just fine against both the Pidgey and Pidgeotto.
He waited patiently as Falkner handed Ajicka her badge and TM, blinking and looking startled as the gym leader addressed him next. "Ah sure, I look forward to it…" He remarked, watching as Falkner stormed off in a huff. Alrighty well…
Sebastian pulled out the pokeball for Mareep as he waited. He felt a bit bad about starting off the match with an electric type now… but that’s sort of why he’d caught the pokemon in the first place. He shuffled in to place, awaiting Falkner’s return to start his own gym battle.

Falkner returned, still a bit flustered over his loss, but stepping up to the battle box. At least his pokemon were healed now. "Alright, my pokemon are ready to go. I hope you've prepared yourself. Despite what you may have seen, my pokemon are tough! I'll make my dad proud by working hard alongside them!" he declared, holding Pidgey's pokeball out. He released the bird onto the stage, who shook itself, then raised a determined, sharp-eyed start to look at Sebastian, ready to launch an attack once the battle began.

Sebastian straightened up as Falkner returned, giving the gym leader a firm nod of greeting. "I certainly hope so I mean… I’m not quite as accomplished…," Boy really putting on the pep talk; that was what he was all about. He glanced at the pokeball in his hand, eyeing Pidgey a moment as it appeared on the field.
"Alright, let’s do this. Come on Mareep!" He threw the pokeball out, Mareep appearing on the field with a sort of confused look on his face. ”Mareep?” He mewled, blinking and staring at the Pidgey out in front of him. Sebastian pointed, gaze narrowing. "Alright Mareep, Thunder Shock right off the bat!" “Mareeeeppp…” The sheep pokemon remarked flatly, unleashing a thunder shock at the bird in question.

Falkner frowned, covering his mouth with his hand as he watched. He seemed to let Sebastian get the first hit. "Tough it out, Pidgey, and use Tackle!" he instructed, lowering his hand as his pokemon, a bit dazed, shook off the attack, and hurried across the feel to throw itself into the pokemon. "Then follow up with Quick Attack!" he added, placing his hand on his hip as he watched, his one visible eye sharply tracking each movement of the pokemon.

Sebastian winced as the Pidgey snuck in a Quick Attack after its tackle; Mareep hadn’t been quick enough to attack first unfortunately. He could already see the wobbly eyes starting up on Mareep as he took a bit of damage.
"Come on Mareep, you’ve got this. One more time, Thunder Shock!" The sheep pokemon gave an agitated mewling, gaze seeming to narrow as it unleashed another spike of electricity at the bird once more, just enough to finally put it down. Sebastian glanced at Falkner, gaze narrowing slightly at the sight of the gym leader’s focus.

Bowing his head, Falkner returned Pidgey, but straightened again, setting Sebastian with a hard stare. "You certainly came prepared," he commented, putting the pokeball away, and drawing the next one out, "But we'll see how long your pokemon can hold out, and what else you have up your sleeve. Let's go, Pidgeotto!" He tossed the pokeball up, releasing the stronger pokemon, who emerged ready, wings already expanded and set for battle.

"Thanks, I tried." Sebastian remarked, watching intently as Falkner sent out his next pokemon. Mareep wasn’t going to be able to finish this fight alone, unfortunately. Ah well, it was to be expected for his first gym battle. "Mareep come on back." He remarked, returning the pokemon before pulling another pokeball from his belt. "Please be awake…" He muttered under his breathe, tossing the ball forward and unleashing Cyndaquil.
Luckily enough the fire mouse stirred and popped up, looking confused but immediately putting on a battle face and giving a squeaky roar at the sight of the Pidgeotto before him. “Cynda! Cyndaquil!” Whatever was going on, he knew it was serious business.
"Cyndaquil, Fire Blast quick!" Sebastian hoped his pokemon could charge up fast enough to strike first but who really knew at this point…

Falkner frowned. So... this guy's cyndaquil had a powerful move. There wasn't much point in using Roost, then... he'd just keep hacking away at his health, and now that Pidgeotto was burned... There wasn't much chance of it working, but the most he could try for was to get himself another attack. Sighing, he closed his eyes, but lifted a hand to point. Cyndaquil squeaked as it was tackled in return, stomping in agitation at the act. Sebastian frowned, quickly thrusting an arm out and pointing, calling his pokemon to attack without a hint of hesitation.

This time, Cyndaquil was ready, giving a squeaky roar and holding the quick claw up to his forehead and stomping, flames gathering in his mouth while the ones on his back grew brighter before unleashing another violent torrent of fire on Pidgeotto, blasting the bird pokemon out of the sky once and for all for this battle.

Holy snaps, he won. He’d actually won. It took a moment for Sebastian’s heart beat to stop ringing in his ears, gaze easing up as he took in the scene. Cyndaquil was giving squeaky roars as he ran back over to him, circling around is legs in understanding of his triumph. Sebastian broke into a smile, looking down at the pokemon. "Good job buddy, take a rest for now, okay?" He remarked, returning Cyndaquil to his ball as he gave one more little squeak roar.
Sebastian straightened up as Falkner approach, smile still on his face as the gym leader awarded him his well earned goods. "It was a good battle, thank you!" He couldn’t help being happy as he took the items. Wow, this was pretty darn awesome. How old was he again…?
"Thank you… thank you so much!" Sebastian beamed as he took the items, eyeing the badge a moment as well at the two disks he’d received. Rock Smash? That sounded potentially useful. He wasn’t so sure about Roost, but only because he hadn’t seen it in action. He smiled and gave a bow to Falkner again, still grinning in joy. "Thanks again. Really, thank you!" He remarked, giving a wave good-bye before trotting over to Ajicka, a particular skip in his step as he did.
"I guess I’ve still kind of got it." Sebastian smiled, digging into his bag to store away the TMs and well as put the badge in his badge case, still sort of enamored with having won his first badge. No seriously, how old was he again? He glanced back at her. "Did you want to head back to the pokecenter to heal up?"

'Fair and square'... enough, at least. Ajicka still didn't really like using type advantages all that much, but she couldn't exactly go in with Arrow, and she didn't have many other flying pokemon. Besides, Smoochum did fantastic, and given her level, she still felt it had been a pretty good challenge for her. Things could have gone a lot worse, after all. If that confusion hadn't pulled through, if Pidgey hadn't been frozen... But, it had. She'd picked up the baby pokemon, who was celebrating in delight, and held her while she and Sebastian waited for the gym leader to return. Seriously, what was it with them and their sulking... Oh well. She guessed he handled it about as well as Blaine, all things considered, and the old man had manned up at the end. Plus she... maybe could have taken some of the credit for how badly that battle had started off...
She watched the battle once Falkner returned, looking oddly at ease with the infantile pokemon in her arms, despite a distinct lack of anything remotely maternal residing within her range of instincts. She just... knew how to hold Smoochum. Or rather, knew not to hold her by her foot or something stupid like that. She set the pokemon back down as the battle ended, staying back, near the door, hand on her hip. Arceus damn, seriously... how excited was the guy over his first badge? She might have been a little psyched when she got that accomplishment, but that was because she lost the first time, and still had to go through the trauma of watching each of her pokemon get defeated. Not to mention... if memory served, it had been a pretty clean sweep, and all her pokemon had been substantially stronger by then.
But, whatever. At least Sebastian won, which meant she hadn't made too big a mistake giving him that Houndour. She smirked a little as he came over. "On the other hand, it would have been pretty sad if you lost with a Mareep that knows an electric attack, and a Cyndaquil with Fire Blast," she replied in amusement. She nodded to his question. "Yeah, might as well. Smoochum took a few hits during her battle and could use it. Congrats, by the way," she added, heading out.

Falkner’s pokemon were still stronger after all and who knew what kind of tricks he might’ve had up his sleeve to counter. He gave a little shrug, watching Ajicka as she started heading out, grinning and giving a nod.
"Thanks, you too! Smoochum was pretty impressive, handling them by herself." He remarked as he followed her out, heading for the pokecenter. His pokemon needed it as well and they’d get it; he was still rather proud. Cyndaquil learning Fire Blast had been a rather helpful tactic indeed. If he ever saw that strange man again, he’d have to thank him.
