"A new core?" The all-loid looked at Take quizzically. "To get one to fit an E series is hard to find, but if he has a new core. . That must mean he was attacked by an X. I suppose I should say that he's lucky he's still even functional with a new core. Not a lot of Es can recover so easily after they get their engine cores removed like the news are saying."

"Attacked for their cores?" Jocasta looked over to Kai with some concern.

The mechanic gave a shrug, "It doesn't happen often since there's not a lot of E's running around in the city in the first place. A lot of them had a mental break down during the transition over. The ones that are still standing are usually gray eyed like your guide here, but they have the emotional capability of a statue," he gave a pause to think. "Let me clarify that, they can feel emotions, but it never locks in completely. They get it for a second and then it's back to stone gray."

The mechanic gave some thought into it. It was a while since he had worked on anything related to the military-loids. "Well," he started, "It's a given that it's a pretty high caliber core given what the Es specialize in. They're meant for full frontal assault. Kinda like a berserker system, I guess you can say. So they need a compact durable core with a lot of energy output. Of course, that can't work with a single core. Even the most powerful compact core can't run an E or an X series, even at their most minimal system usage.

"So the X and E wind up with a multi-core system. It's not a flaw-less system, but it's been working for them for the most part. X have three cores, Es have two. The main problem with this kind of system is over heating. They can easily fry their own cores if they go on their extended systems for a long period of time. The X have their third core to use as a cooling engine. The Es are s**t out of luck, but they were cheaper to produce compared to the X.

"So I guess I'm not surprised why the E are getting attacked. The X might have been desperate. Especially if they're still in the assassination and spying business. Their cores might have been in danger of a melt down. Since Es are easier to find than an X, they op after them for replacement cores. The cores that were specifically designed for an X series aren't being produced anymore ever since the JUNKYARD program was shut down. The whole high quality yet experimental trait of their cores was another reason they aren't being made. Too dangerous, too expensive.

"Es are in the same boat, but at least a few mechanics know how to salvage cores from Es that were sent out of commission. Even fewer to know how to assemble a core that's strong enough to meet the most minimal demands of an E's systems."

Jocasta looked over to Kai with a worried look. "But his minimal isn't being met with his current. . . Is it?"

The mechanic shook his head. "If I had to guess, he's running on one E core, one Triple S core right now. If you don't want him to suffer a melt down, I suggest keeping him out of things that would require a lot of activity on his end."

"It does. ." she smiled. Jocasta looked back to Aittus, "Why don't we give the brothers a hand with Kai? I mean, it's the least we can do for them for saving us and letting us stay for the time being."

"Good luck to you," the mechanic smiled.

Kai glanced over at the family, "Is there any where else you would like to go before we return home?"

"Hmm," Jocasta looked back to her boyfriend and son, "Think we need anything else?"

"An academy and a school serve the same purpose. The difference is how they are run by their officials. Academies tend to focus more on a particular area of study while schools usually try to cover a broader range of subjects," Kai stated dully. "Aside from that, there's not much difference between them."

Jocasta thought it over a bit, "Makes sense. The most of the academies in Ghent are tech and military heavy considering the history of the city."

"Very well, please follow me," Kai then nodded to the mechanic, "Thank you for your time."

"Don't be a stranger," the mechanic smiled as he watched the E series leave.

Jocasta smiled, "Come on Ai, let's try to keep up with the E before we lose sight of him." She motioned over with her head towards Kai who was already walking ahead of them.

It didn't take long with the E's knowledge of the town map to find the school in question. He stopped and motioned over to the large compound.

Jocasta looked over with her boyfriend still attached to her. "Whoa. . . . If I didn't know any better, I would've thought this was an academy." She glanced over the gates and wide open grounds. "Looks like it could be an agricultural or military school from the amount of land that's here. Hmm, do they host festivals here too?"

"They do. Many people show up to these festivals. They help fund the school activities," Kai stated.
