Whew! Just finished getting caught up after several days of (near) nonstop Brawl. I'd be willing do do an interview about Pit, and I'll accept any controversy that comes after I say this:
Pit > Snake.
*rolls reflex save*

Edit: Damn. Failed the roll.

Opportunity attack! Huh? Whats your AC? cause with my katana, I have +9.

Edit: 15. Oh. If I hit you, my damage roll is 1d10 + 3.

Hello, this is Mephisto D reporting with an interview with Aurons_Blade about a particular rare game he likes. Anyway, let is begin:

So AB, any particular rare game you are wanting to share with the cult?

Aurons_Blade

Possibly Crystalis, it's unknown to most, but it's a classic for me.

I have to admit that I'm also not too knowledgeable on the game myself. Anyway, would you mind describing the game?

Aurons_Blade
It's a game about a man who traveled 100 years into the future, yet for some reason it's all medieval. It's a hack-and-slash game, attacking enemies around you, solving puzzles, using magic spells and useful items during battle. Your main weapon, the sword, comes in four elements, wind, fire, water, and thunder. Use these weapons at your disposal to rid the world of evil!

Yeah, a personal fave.

Ahh, I see. I did a bit of research and found that it is made by my champion company SNK. How would you judge the difficulty of this game on a scale from 1 to 10, 1 being easy, 10 being just about impossible?

Aurons_Blade
Field enemies- 3
puzzles-6
bosses-8 to 9

Hmm, now, I'm not sure if it's on the VC yet, but I assume you would support and recommend it? Also, are there any special features in this game that make you like the game even more?

Aurons_Blade
Well, I really liked being able to shoot beams out of my swords. There were 3 levels of special beams for each sword too... It was cool.

Ahh, kind of similar to the original Zelda or Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair.

So, before I wrap up this interview, do you have anything you'd like to say to the viewers at home?

Aurons_Blade
Wahh haha! Wario's numbah 1!

Well, there you have it folks, Crystalis. Recommended by Aurons_Blade for you to play.

Well dude, to be honest, you look like a chick. The hair and all, its like Bulma. Nothing to offensive, but change the hair and your all set. It'd be one wicked avi after that.
Oh, and my friend added you. Feel free to battle him whenever you. And he lives in New York, so you should work out the time difference.

Heh, I remember the Chao system.
Well, it can't be worse than Sonic Heroes, right? Besides, Bioware has been doing great with its other games lately, so we'll have to hope the same for Sonic.
I don't really see a camera problem that much for the 3-D Sonic games. Sometimes it gets stuck behind objects, but it never really bothered me too much.

Wonderful thisng those Chao. My two best are Rocky (Hero Power) and Jojo (Dark Flying, resembles Nights) they both reincarnated.
Oh I remember the Chao, those things were awesome. I'm pretty sure I spent more time on them than the actual game xD
Unfortunately I can't remember any of their names, but my first was a Hero type who was all white except for a blue stomach, had a ghost tail, and those long... things growing out of his head that weer blue tipped. He was either a flying or a swimming type, I can't remember. But I do remember he was always sleeping and got all mad when I woke him up because he was boring <.<

I remember my Chao.
His name was Kaito (Dark Swimming).
He was so cute!
I'd always go in the garden as Rogue,
and he'd skip behind me singing...

Welcome back to the Mephisto Mini Review. Today, I'm going to cover what I have listed as my favorite game of all time: Super Mario Bros. 3 for the NES

Definitely my favorite game of all time. This is one of those games where you can beat it 17 times in a row and want to go for another 90 rounds. This game took what was great about Mario and just gave it a steroid boost of greatness. In the original Super Mario bros, you could only go foward, in Super Mario Bros. 2, you could go foward, backward, up, and down, in Super Mario Bros. 3, you could go up, down, left, right, and now diagonally (which may not seem like much, but it was a big deal for the series.) Mario also gained a new ability to fly after grabbing a leaf giving him a raccoon tail (they were obviously on drugs when they made the Mario series...) The game also introduced the Koopalings which were Bowser's kids. There were 7 of them, all with their own airship. The game also introduced a board game like screen where you would pick the level you want to play, and you could skip levels if you really wanted to (though why anyone would is beyond me.) This game also had many secrets, the most well known secret being the magic flute. The magic flute was brought over from the original Zelda game (same song and everything), and with this flute, you would be taken to a screen where you could select a possible 3 worlds....which three worlds was generally random however, the 3 were always next to each other (except for the final level which was by itself, so for example, there would be a time where you could only pick 2, 3, or 4/5, 6, or 7/8.) There were also mini games within the game. They were Match the piece, which worked kind of like a side ways slot machine, depending on which picture you complete, you will get a certain number of lives (Mushroom 2, Flower 3, Star 5) the other bonus game which you could unlock in certain areas was a matching game, where you would flip cards to match the pictures. You are allowed 1 mistake, next mistake means end of game, and you can't try it again, however, next time you unlock the game, it will continue where you left off. This game has stood the test of time, and many feel to be the best in the series, if not among the greatest games of all time. Here is a video of Super Mario Bros. 3 gameplay:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=2SfvhZgD7Bk

Since in my opinion this is pretty much the perfect video game, I have to give this a 10/10.

You know, you guys should pay much more attention to Mephisto's reviews. They're actually really good and accurate. Super Mario Bros. 3, that was a classic. I believe Super Mario Bros. 2 or 3 was the first Mario bros. game I played. It was really fun, but not my favorite.

Sonic 3 was one of my favorite 16-bit games.
Hey Mephisto, do you take requests on games to review?

This is going to be a bit of a long read, but this is a top 5 countdown of my top 5 favorite fighting game villains, I hope that you all enjoy and actually take the time to read this, it did take quite a bit of time and effort to come up with this list:

5.User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Leopold Goenitz:

He is the final boss in King of Fighters '96. He has mastered the power of wind and uses it relentlessly. He also makes an appearance in the crossover fighter: SNK vs. Capcom (SVC) Chaos. What I like about Goenitz is he has this priest like attitude despite being clearly evil. He is a minister under the serpent god Orochi. He was a hidden character in KOF 96 as well as SVC Chaos.

"A Good wind blows...by his grace! Know that you too are a sinner!"

Footage of Goenitz:

M. Bison:

What kind of villian list would this be if I didn't have probably the most well known of fighting game villians. The leader of Shadaloo (also spelled Shadowlaw, Shadowloo, and Shadoloo) and the man on a quest for world domination. He has control of what is called psycho power which seems to be a type of electrokenesis/psycic ability. He has moves such as his most powerful Psycho Crusher, the Knee Press Nightmare (which is basically a barrage of flip kicks), he can levitate, and he also has a move in which he will jump in the air and stomp on the opponents head. Very useful technique, which can lead into a punch attack right afterward. Bison first debuted in the classic Street Fighter II, however he has made many appearances , in all fhe Alpha games as playable character, all of the Capcom/Marvel crossovers (Marvel Vs. Capcom however he simply made a cameo, but he became playable in Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, and was playable in X-Men vs. Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Street Fighter) and made appearances in both SNK/Capcom crossovers. Bison is so badass that if he wanted to, he could speed right through the mushroom kingdom and leave nothing but destruction in his wake....oh wait...he has:

Akuma:

I think everyone knew that Akuma would make the list. Akuma took everything great about Ryu and Ken, and made it that much better, plus adding the Shun Goku Satsu (which translates to Instant Hell Murder or Raging Demon) Akuma made his debut in Super Street Fighter Turbo II as a special boss you could fight after meeting certain criteria (I forget exactly what it was though, but I think it had something to do with your super special.) He would slide in, grab bison, and the screen would turn white, where you would see a bunch of hits fly across the screen, and when the screen came back to normal, you saw Bison on the ground dead and you had to fight Akuma. He was playable through a special code, however, he didn't have any super specials like the other characters had (although eventually the game would be ported to the game boy advance where he was playable from the start and could perform the Shun Goku Satsu as his special.) Akuma has been very popular since his debut. He was in all of the Street Fighter alpha games as a playable character (in SFA 1 through a code), he was in the Marvel crossovers (except for Marvel vs. Capcom 1) as well as the SNK crossovers, he was also in Street Fighter 3, and is rumored to be in Street Fighter 4 along with M. Bison. Akuma's moveset is very similar to Ryu and Ken's with some slight alterations. He can do the Hadoken (although they had different names) the Shoryuken (Dragon Punch), as well as the Hurricane Spin Kick, however, unlike Ken and Ryu, he could also do a Hadoken in midair aiming down towards the opponent, and has a special move where he shoots a powerful version of this attack at his opponents (in the Marvel crossovers instead of one big one, it's a barrage of regular sized ones.) In SF3 he learns a move called the Murder Wave in which he will punch the ground and a surge of energy will just spring up from the ground doing massive damage (which you can see in the .Gif I put of Akuma in this blog. Akuma can also take a more powerful form called Shin Akuma (True Akuma.) This is introduced in Street Fighter Alpha 2, he looks the same for the most part except instead of wearing a dark gray gi, he wears a purple gi. In the SNK crossovers his hair turns a bright white and his gi is kind of a dark gray purple mix. He is faster and much more powerful in this form, and he learns a new move (SNK crossovers only.) His most powerful move, next to the Shun Goku Satsu, he will jump very high in the air, and land on top of you where he will do a single chop and the opponent will fall straight to the floor.

Wolfgang Krauser:

The German Earl of the House of Strolheim. He fights brutally, and feels that there is no need for righteousness or mercy in battle, however outside of battle he is a pretty gentle guy. He killed his father for the title of Earl and has been feared for many years throughout all of Europe. Krauser made his debut in Fatal Fury 2, after the defeat of Geese Howard (his half brother) he wanted to face the ones who beat him. Eventually, due to lack of training and underestimating his opponent, he too is defeated when Terry Bogard discovers his newest and at the time most powerful technique the Power Geyser. Krauser has a pretty good moveset, with his fire attack Blitzball, in which he throws fireballs at his opponent, similar to Sagat from Street Fighter, depend on which button you press, he can throw them either high or low. He also has the leg tomahawk, which is a spinning heel kick pretty much, does some good damage and is good for combos. His most powerful attack in Fatal Fury 2 is the Kaiser Wave, in which he will hold both arms out, and release a giant wave of energy at his opponent, and it does a lot of damage. Eventually in the real bout series he learns a tornado like technique where he spins and a tornado basically surrounds him and then his opponent (if close enough) will be sucked into the tornado, taking a ton of damage. He also has a move similar to Geese Howard's Deadly Rave, which is called Unlimited Desire. Krauser appears in Fatal Fury 2/Special, Real Bout: Fatal Fury 2/Special, King of Fighters '96 and will be in an updated version of KOF '98: Ultimate Match. Unlike the rest of the KOF characters who speak either Japanese or choppy English, Krauser speaks perfect English in all of his appearances. Krauser is a fan of classical music, and his most commonly used theme is Dies Irae by Mozart, however he has used another part of the Requiem as well. Here's Krauser's theme as shown in Fatal Fury Special:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=_JD_zELGbH8

1. User Image

Geese Howard:

My absolute favorite fighting game villain...no...straight up villain ever. The man who started the King of Fighters tournament. The Fowl of Southtown. Geese was SNK's first and best fighting villain, making his debut in the very first Fatal Fury. Geese Howard took over Southtown after the events of The Art of Fighting 2, where he lost to Ryo Sakazaki, however he escaped, and begun plans to take over, after killing Jeff Bogard, Terry and Andy's adoptive father. Although the Art of Fighting games were made after Fatal Fury, the storyline takes place 15 years prior. Geese is defeated again by Terry and Andy and is believed to be dead after Fatal Fury 1, although he appears in Fatal Fury Special, this is simply a dream match type game and is not true cannon, however, he does make a true return in Fatal Fury 3 where he is searching for the Jin Scrolls, which are claimed to be immortal. In Real Bout: Fatal Fury, it is said that Geese finally meets his demise, however, he does appear in both Real Bout 2 and Special, as well as making cameos and playable appearances in the King of Fighters series, however, these are claimed to not be of the same exact storyline as the fatal fury series. Some speculate that Geese is in fact immortal, some say he died and it is simply the ghost of Geese Howard, however in the King of Fighters games, he is clearly alive, whereas in the Fatal Fury games, it is somewhat unclear. Geese has an amazing moveset, and probably one of the best defenses of any fighting game character. He has a great counter system, in which when an opponent throws a punch or a kick he will grab them and slam them into the ground. He has a projectile attack called Reppuken, in which a wave of energy slides across the ground hitting the opponent, and a double form of this called Double Reppuken, where 1 wave will stand in front of him and another one will move toward the opponent, once again. He also has an air attack in which, like Akuma, he will shoot energy downward toward his opponent. His super specials include, Raging Storm, in which a surge of energy comes from the ground surrounding Geese after he places his hands on the ground, great defense and does incredible damage, Rashomon, in which he will grab an opponent, throw them in the air, and then as they fall he will use a double armed attack to send them flying back, Thunder rain (only apparent in the Real Bout games) similar to the raging storm, except instead multiple bolts of lightning will strike at a much higher proximity and do once again an insane amount of damage, and finally the Deadly Rave, which is a combo that leads into a surge of energy being pushed into the opponent, usually this is Geese's ultimate special. Geese has had his theme remixed more than any other fighting game character ever, it's that awesome.
This video has a version done by the game metal band Megadriver.

Wow, pretty good. I somehow knew M. Bison and Akuma were gonna make it. xD
Akuma is my favorite villain from the Street Fighter games [He's my best villain character in Street Fighter Alpha 3]. Pretty much because he's similar to Ryu [my best hero character], except much more powerful. He also looks awesome.
Oh, and my request is that if you can do Super Mario 64. Seriously, one of the first games to actually perform 3-D graphics right [along with Sonic Adventure and a few more games].

Hello everyone and welcome to the Mephisto Mini Review, today I'm going to be covering Super Mario 64 as requested by Dark Super Sonic.

Anyway, let's begin:

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Summary/Controls:
Super Mario 64 was released in 1996 and was a launch title for the brand new Nintendo 64 system, which featured 64 bit graphics and was among the first systems to begin it's route into the 3D era of gaming. The game was a huge hit, and is considered to be among a favorite of many Mario/Nintendo/Video Game fans. This video game set the bar for what 3D platformers should be. This game was the first Mario game to feature a health bar system, the bar however was in the shape of Mario's head. This was also the first Mario game in which Mario cannot stay under water for a prolonged period of time. Mario also learns to fight without relying on the jump, as now he can do a 1-2 punch combo and a kick, however, don't fret Mario fans, the jump is also just as effective and is still a major part of the game. Mario also upgrades his grabbing ability that they started in Super Mario 3, this time now being used to grab and throw certain bosses. A is jump, B is attack, jumping and pressing Z can cause Mario to do a ground pound, holding Z before jumping can cause Mario to do a long jump, and pretty much other variations of that. The control stick, now a new feature on the N64 controller, is now used to move Mario, which makes for easy movement in a fully 3D world.

Now on with the plot:
Mario is going to visit the princess after she sends him a letter, upon Mario's arrival he finds out that Bowser has trapped Princess Peach and everyone in the castle into paintings, and the only way to free them is to gather stars throughout the levels. There are five stars throughout the level as well as secret stars all around the castle: 120 stars in all. To add to the plot, Lakitu is recording all of this on his camera, which was quite a unique use of the camera controls, which you can use by pressing the c buttons.

Powerups
As it has become tradition with Mario games, there is a form of an upgrade system. They removed the growth mushroom, the super star, and the fire flower. Mario's upgrades however now are based on certain hats he gets, and he does get a hat with the ability to fly. The other two hats are a metal hat, which makes Mario heavy (which is good for certain levels involving water currents) and covered with metal making him invulnerable to damage. The other hat is a hat that makes Mario transparent. This hat is good for walking through cages, and if I'm not mistaken he can walk through walls also.

Now on with the levels/level design:
Mario has your stereotypical levels that you would find in a lot of games. It has your water level, cave level, lava level, snow/ice level, your mountain level, your open field level, your sky level, your haunted house level, your desert level as well as some unique levels like going inside of a clock, a battlefield level, a flying tower and pretty much a couple of other levels that I can't come up with at the top of my head at the moment, but they are unique. The level design in incredibly detailed for it's time, and set the standard of level design for 3D games. Mario now can use walls in the levels to bounce off of to gain a bit of higher leverage in his jump also, so that's a great use of level design.

Music:
Mario 64 has a pretty good soundtrack, that's pretty much all that needs to be said about it really. I'd say my favorite songs would be the Bowser levels and fighting Bowser.

Overall, this game set the standards for how 3D games should be. This game is great, and I'd probably put it in my top 4 favorite Mario games. It's a fun game, and I suggest that if you haven't played it to give it a try. So I give this game a 10/10. This game has stood the test of time, and is still fun to play. It's such a good game, Nintendo decided to re-release it for the DS, although this time they added Yoshi, Luigi, and Wario as playable characters, each having their own unique abilities. Although the DS version doesn't have the control stick it does make use of the touch screen and works quite well.

Anyway, there you have it, a solid 10/10 for a great game.
