"Hm?" Danni glanced over, a bit annoyed to have been dragged out of her pleasant little bubble. She caught Ophi's question, flicked a short glance at Riser.
"Oh, him. He's training me or some such s**t. Best hope that curse doesn't mess with my head, boy, or I'm staking you through the heart." She said with a pointed glare at Riser, then turned back to Alec, considering her 'answer the teacher's question' duty done. It was no big deal, after all. Besides, it was for Ialo. She matched Alec's grin, pleased he'd enjoyed himself. "Oh, you can keep your rainstorm, boy-o, but the rest...Oh, I do envy you that, Alec. Did you stay in a quaint shack, then, or an elaborate Scottish castle? Was it grand?" She asked, leaning forward in excitement.

Mitsuki10191 Ambrose blinked, felt his heart stutter a bit. "Is that so? Well, when your time comes, the man you choose shall be a lucky one indeed." And he may just have to kill the b*****d. Lin smiled, though it was somewhat sad. Hopefully Ambrose wouldn't see it since her face was turned toward the water and very close to it. "I... I hope it will come soon. Do you think it is unfair to become involved with someone else when your heart is still broken over a previous love? Do you think it is unfair to the new person?"

"Not unfair at all, Lovely Lin. After all, how is the hole in your heart supposed to heal without someone new to fill it? It's not a weakness, or a sin, to lean on someone else. And, if it's the right someone else, they won't push you, won't try and make you forget the memories you hold of that previous love. It's all about choices, Lovely Lin. You'll make yours, and it's turn out just fine. It's you, after all." He smiled, ran a hand absently down her hair as he watched the little family make its way across the pond, to a small outcrop of pebbles.

Alec was going to explain that he had actually spent each day somewhere new, just to get a variety experience, but then he heard Danni mention Riser's curse. THAT stopped him dead. All Alec could do was stare at Danni in dumb disbelief. Alec slowly put his head back in his hands and groaned audibly. "Please. PLEASE tell me you didn't actually say you'd work for that... that..." Alec pointed at Riser as he finished his sentence, "Self centered, conniving, egotistical, manipulative, aggravating, jack-a**?"

"Sounds like my mother," She commented offhandedly, and then frowned, a bit disappointed that he wasn't talking of Scottland. It seemed they'd be talking about unpleasant things, after all. She sighed, flicking an accusing glance at Riser. It was his fault she couldn't have a simple conversation without having someone treat her like she had lost all sanity.
"What? He offered something I wanted. I gave my word, and I shook on it. Sure, I found out a few possible deal breakers after the fact, but I already gave my word. So I'm stuck with the guy." She shrugged, scratching absently at the back of her head, where the curse had been placed.

Lin couldn't help but close her eyes for a moment when Ambrose's hand ran down her hair slowly. She loved it when someone played with or smoothed out her hair. It was very relaxing. Dymetri used to brush it from time to time...
It didn't hurt as much to think about him anymore. What hurt the most was the impression she was getting from the school. She felt as if they were all ignoring his death and just forgetting about him. But her memories of him were not causing her as much pain anymore. Bai Ching had helped her heal greatly, even though she had only been there for a few days. Ambrose and Professor Akakios helped greatly as well.
She reached her hand forward and slowly guided it to the bottom of the pond. She held her hand palm-out so that if one of the pixies wanted to investigate her, they could. They were so cute and magical.
"You don't believe a person should try to heal from the death of a loved one on their own? You don't believe that a person should deal with the grief on their own before involving herself with another romantic interest? I have always believed that a woman should be capable of handling issues on her own, not requiring a man or someone else to take care of her."

Alec just groaned a bit more as he shook his head from side to side. "Just... just promise me you won't let him get inside your head like he's been trying with Ialo. The guy's an idiot at times, but he doesn't deserve the head games THIS a*****e plays on other people." Alec pointed his finger once more in Riser's direction, still upset over the whole situation.
But after a moment, Alec sighed and picked his head up again. "Ah, whatever. Maybe this will work out for the best." Alec chuckled slightly. "Heck, you might even be able to turn the guy's power back on him at some point. That aughta be fun to watch."
After Alec was done entertaining the thought of Danni ripping Riser a new one, he looked over at Ophi and motioned for him to get up off the floor. "Alright, let's get back to business for now. What's all this about a battle? Should we be worried for something within a week, a month, a few minutes? What?"

Ophi signed and stood up, brushing dust off his robes. He felt resigned to whole situation. Realistically, there was no way for him to stop Riser, at least not now. And, if Danni had taken this upon herself of her own free will, then... well, there was nothing he could do about that. And certainly, Danni was by far snappier than Ialo.
He look at Alec, his green eyes sharp and anxious. "Setsuka wants the Fountain. She will come here to get it, and she will bring whatever force is necessary. We do not have nearly enough enough counterforce."
"Well, if SOMEONE'S son stopped tearing apart all the surveillance systems.... That guy has GOT to go, the good-for-nothing..." Seven trailed off, searching through her files for imaginative, if impractical and unrealistic way to extract revenge for her 'babies'.

"Oh, if that's the way it works for them, then that's fine. But when a woman chooses a man, I think, if she chose wisely, the man wouldn't want her to grieve alone, to shoulder such a burden by herself. It's not a matter of being taken care of. It's a matter of being cared about. There's a world of difference, Lovely Lin." He watched her dip a hand into the pond, saw a little light rub against one of her fingers, as if in comfort. Even water fairies could feel a human's sorrow, a human's grief. And it wasn't in them to do anything but give comfort.

Danni raised a brow, shrugged. "Better to underestimate him and get my a** kicked than overestimate and cower like a patsy whenever he comes around." Most days, she loved her logic. It seemed to be working for her today.

Lin smiled softly at Ambrose's words and the feel of one of the water pixies brushing up against her fingers. Both were very comforting. She was glad that the water pixies trusted and liked her enough to come close to her.
Lin turned her head, though it was slightly uncomfortable to do so since she was lying on the ground on her stomach and Ambrose was standing, but she wanted to look at him.
"One of the first things I learned about you, Ambrose, is that you are very devoted to your family. You focus your powers on protecting your family. Does that mean that you, too, would like to start a family at a young age?"
