mykilz Toy-x-Guns Bonjour, fellow clarinetists! Let me just say, the clarinet is the BEST instrument ever! I've got a sister who plays the trumpet, and her ego is so big, I swear! What is it with brass players? Just because they're all that and a bag of chips in marching band. We totally rule concert season! Well I'm a freshman, and this year was my first year of marching band, and it's AMAZING! heart I've been playing for ... let's see ... 4 and a half years now. I'm learning to play alto sax, but it's nowhere near as amazing as the clarinet. I wouldn't be learning alto if clarinets were allowed in jazz band, but just because we can't bend notes or use vibrato ... it's so ... instrument racist. stare that last sentence is SO true! but actually clarinets can do a vibrato, but its kinda crappy unless you practice... i have to learn tenor sax cuz my school jazz band doesnt have clarinets.... now i play tenor too, but its not EVEN close to the awesomeness of the CLARINET!!!! i totally agree. besides, the sax players in my band are also full of themselves. ESPECIALLY the section leader. he's so annoying. and yeah, vibrato does sound really crappy on a clarinet. i've tried, unsuccessfully, and the others in my section have tried to. it's so much easier on sax, and really fun to do, except that it makes my jaw hurt. but, yes, clarinet SO surpasses sax. it's not even funny, there's just no comparison.

Hello my fellow Clarinetists!
I'm Kenji, I've been playing clarinet for near 6 years now...still going strong!
My band is award winning, (Took home 5 first places last competition along with the Espirit De Corps!) but unfortunatly does not include marching band anymore. This is simply because our band teacher is ALSO the choir director. She directs three bands and two choirs. Holy cow!
I am in our Jazz Band & Wind Ensemble (which is basically our equivilant to Orchestra since we unfortunatly do not boast one of those either...), Pep Band, take private lessons, and will be in All State Band soon. Hopefully. No seriously...I'll make it this time...!!!

Konichiwa, Clarinet-playing buddies! (lol, had to say it that way!)
Let's see hear...My name is Tabitha and I'm in my fifth year playing Clarinet. I play for the Lake Shore Marching Shorians in St. Clair Shores Michigan. I play 3rd part and am fifth out of six chairs. stupid fresmen. I am currently in thenth grade and HATE marching. why you ask? because it's painful and makes it hurt to shower. Unless your showering in cold water. then it feels good.
I X Band Camp! (but is kinda fun)

hola, I've been playing clarinet since fifth grade and almost 6 years. I'm a part of the marching band at John Adams High School in IN. We made it to regionals for the 2nd time in 2 years last October, and missed state by only 2 spots. Previously the JAHS band hadn't made it to regionals in 12 years. Its an amzing experience, and I encourage anyone in any other type of band to join. The bonds between the people you play with, and I know every person very well in my small band of 92 people is amazing. It takes a lot of time, but your not alone, theres a whole bunch of other people on the feild with you. Yes, its a nuisance, but the things that happen on every saturday from september-october are amazing and sometimes tragic. You can't explain it, just have to experience it. I'm also a country music luuuvvver and so I play guitar, and luv it so. People often stereotype country but there are many different kinds so you cant just listen to 2 songs and say screw it. No, theres my man Johnny Cash and modern day Rascal Flats, who rule charts. So be like me, and decide music is music and its all made the same way, and just enjoy while you can. cool
