Hitomi hit the branch, but not hard enough. She pushed down on it with her connecting leg, causing herself to backspin, and aimed a kick at the same spot from the bottom. What did I do wrong? Why am I useless? Hitomi should never have come back. She should have been killed at her designated time-- Whichever time she cheated death that may have been. She felt the adrenaline high dissipating, and knew that the real world would come crashing back into her body soon. She prepared herself.

Hitomi felt herself roll through the last branch in her frenzy, and landed on the ground among the splinters and branches of the tree. She collapsed with her back to the tree, letting her head fall into her hand as she tried to figure out just what she was going to do. She really had no idea. She wanted to be alone, but being alone defeated her purposes for wanting to be alone. She wanted to be with Her, but being with her made her want to be alone. Hitomi wished that for just once since she had been pulled from the burning building that was her home... That she could cry. There had been tears, spread out over her life, yes, but she hadn't ever cried. Just to be able to let all of those emotions go like that? No, apparently it was too easy for Hitomi. Or so someone had decided. She sighed and rested against the tree, waiting for an answer to come. Or if one wasn't to come, she'd wait until she was satisfied.

Hitomi rolled forward, planting her palm on the ground, pushing off with a spin, and driving her leg at the tree's trunk. She couldn't sit still... She was as restless in body as she was in mind... She really did want to crawl under a rock and stay there, but her hate of Nothing led her to doing Something. She sighed again. if I can't get a handle on my life, it's going to fall apart again. I just need a distraction. Yeah, because that worked so well last time.

"Good job." Said Yokou, a smile lighting up her face. "And wasn't it for the best? You burned excess chakra, too." At her words, Shinratsu seemed surprised. This woman... She was strange and extremely unpredictable...difficult to read. What indeed was her reason for teaching him? And that she was able to so conveniently arrange it...that the technique not only adds to his arsenal and improve his chakra control, but also indirectly saves his life... She's...amazing... He would never admit that outwards though and even inwards, highly grudgingly. Nay, he shouldn't be like this... She did save his life after all.
Shin noticed something, that had been bothering him. "Hey...why do you wear bandages around your hands?" No answer greeted him at first, only a smile. "Oh, it's just a Hyuuga thing." Yokou lied easily. It was kind of true anyways... "Come, let us return to the village... You should eat something for lunch. My treat, since I did kidnap and overwork a 'poor, injured 11-year old kid'..." A light chuckle, before Yokou spun around and seemingly floated away...
Shinratsu couldn't help but smile, and followed.

With a light thud, Shinratsu landed softly on the entrance ground to the canyon. He may have lived in Iwa for only a year now, but his impressive memory allowed him the rare skill of memorizing all maps of Iwa he could get his hands on, with little effort. Though of course, map reading was one skill in itself, actual navigation was another. So Shin made up for this by visiting as many places as possible in his leisure, to familiarize himself with them. Well, it was true that he forfeited his nightly ventures after moving in with Giglamesh, but he probably knew his way around better than much of the Iwa-born children. And he was careful with places out of the village, researching well on the species of wild animals that lived around the region: especially wary of the many types of poisonous giant scorpions.
Shin closed his eyes, feeling for the familiar chakra signatures of Giglamesh, Shizuka, and Rai. A long moment passed, he sensed nothing. Shin opened his eyes again.

Shizuka finally got to the canyon as the henged kid who lost his ryo. Trying to catch her breath, the henge ended in a poof of smoke as she fell to her knees from the lack of chakra and running for her life before that jerk of a konoha sensei ran after her. "Sh...Shin-kun...Do you know anyone by the name of Youko and Nakamura? There was these two talking at the square...The girl who I believe is Youko had damaged skin on her right hand..." She looked up to Shinratsu as she would explain what she heard from them. "They wanted your chakra for something and that Youko person is taking care of you due to regretting what she did to this Nakamura person!" Did they want Shin dead? Who were those Konohans? Are they bad or good? So many things ran through her head at this point. "Senju...that's some type of clan right? Her sensei is a Senju...Unless she meant Sensei or Sanin...I don't know what to think! But Shin-kun, I'll protect them from you...I don't want them to kill you!"

At first notice of another presence in the canyon, Shinratsu stiffened noticeably, ready to drop into his Gamibuyou stance. But he stopped, when he felt that the chakra presence was familiar. "Shizuka-chan...?" He asked, cautiously at first, eyeing the little boy in front of him up and down. A poof of smoke and his teammate returned to her original form.
What was even more confusing, was when Shizuka began talking rapidly about something. Shinratsu struggled to make out the words, it sounded like a very long run-on sentence...dear gods, was Shizuka even breathing (expression: O_o'')? But his expression grew serious, when her voice had settled a bit more, and he could comprehend the words that were said. "Yes, I do know of Lady Yokou...but not of this Nakamura..." A soft pause.
"Huh? Wants my chakra for something? Are you certain? Hyouton chakra isn't a natural type, so even simply storing it by normal methods would be impossible. Especially my branch of Hyouton Creation, that molds the fifth element naturally...my body is the host, my blood the catalyst. Without either requirement, any Hyouton chakra drawn from me will break apart into its components. It could only mean one thing..." A soft pause. "Shizuka-chan might've overheard wrong. It would be more logical if they're targeting me because I'm a limit carrier of a near extinct bloodline type."
"Nakamura, Nakamura..." Shin seemed deep in thought, eyebrows furrowing. "I never met this person directly, but the name sounds familiar...how strange... I don't think it's a common name either..." Shin cocked his head gently to the side, right hand tucked below his chin in thought. "That's funny...I don't think Hyouton ever officially became a limit type in Konoha... That village couldn't possibly..."
No. It was wrong for him to just assume that. Even if Hyouton was one of Konoha's native limits, the same could be said about him residing in Iwa... He wasn't a native-born shinobi, but became a shinobi in this village... There was always the possibility...yet, it was a ridiculous thought. It was possible Konoha face Hyouton, or some type of Hyouton limit, on a small scale...yet it didn't make sense that a small fragment of a clan would just get up and migrate together into a foreign village...but Iwa wouldn't have such information on Konoha's immigrant bloodlimit-holding population... He could not confirm this. Meaning there would only be a supposition to work with for now.
The best way would probably be to ask Yokou directly, however... The Sannin had acted strangely back at the ramen stand... And of course, her reasons for taking care of him in the first place was rather suspicious: what possibly could the Hyuuga queen want with him? A mere child, a Kiri-born not even living in his own village...?
"In my whole life, I only came across mentions of the Senju clan. Information on them is scarce, especially overseas...and most of what information was available was in historical context, too... They're the leading founding clan of Konoha, however...was underpopulated and thought to have disappeared...but apparently not. Come to think of it..." Shin's voice trailed off. "Back when the Konoha group first came into the village...I did meet two Senjus. Both seemed to be around our age...but one had insanely abnormal levels of chakra... Well, anyways. It was quite a sight: a midget of a kid teaching a slightly older one."
"I...doubt they'll be targeting me in that sense." Shin continued, still analyzing the situation and known facts, as well as including what factual information he could draw from his analyzations and what Shizuka claims. "Firstly, they're in a foreign village. I may be an immigrant, but I'm a legally documented Iwa shinobi. Even if the Tsuchikage is friendly with them, they wouldn't risk Iwa's friendship for something so trivial..."
But that too was an understatement. Hyouton was a dying limit, it was hard-pressed to find still existing members, if not in Kiri or Yuki. However... "But, considering the Hyuuga princess was the one to heal my injuries...I don't think it's my life she wants. But still..." Shin's expression grew rueful. "The question is still what the hell she wants... What they want...why get injured, and full well knowing the risk, to save a foreign shinobi?"
"...perhaps I should ask Giglamesh-sensei later... It's too naive to assume simply based on historical context, that Konoha's people are simply highly sentimental...they do have a reputation for being quite manipulative too... I wouldn't put the capability past their most famous families."

"I couldn't get that much information out of them...I had to use a henge just to make sure they wouldn't expect me of spying on them. It did seem that that Youku girl hated the senju kid for wanting to leave you for dead." Shizuka stood up crossing her arms. "Then this Hyuuga princess is Youko right...? That senju kid is a manipulative b*****d also, I can already tell he's up to no good...I'm surprised no one in Iwagakure knows of his evil deeds." She didn't want to ask this...it was his privacy after all but to protect Shinratsu, she needed to understand anything about him. "Is there anything else I should know about your clan history? Does Michiyos ring a bell? It creeps me out knowing what this guy is up to..." If this causes a spark in Iwagakure...she would hate for there to be another great war between Iwagakure and Konohagakure....

"Hai. Hyuuga Yokou-hime, the current head of family to one of Konoha's founding clans and oldest noble family." A soft pause. "Michiyo? Nop-..." Shin chewed out slowly. "No........wait......." A lengthy silence ensued. "They are...like my clan, formerly one of Yukigakure's Hyouton families. If I'm not mistaken...Fubuki and Michiyo Hyouton lines shared ancestries many centuries back. Hn..." His expression grew rueful. "It's irritating...but why can't I remember anything else about them...? Yuki, Yuki..." Pale blue-gray eyes grew dark with contemplation and Shinratsu began pacing.
"What I know about Yukigakure...too small in modern day standards to be deemed an effective shinobi force and village... But it wasn't always that way...couldn't be... Emigration? Possibly... Part of my clan had moved from Yuki to Kiri generations back...but where would Michiyo have gone? Iwa has no Hyouton lines, and certainly they had not come to Kiri... Kumo is now destroyed, and Kusa is an impractical choice..." His voice trailed off.
"No Hyouton clan would willingly live in the desert, where their techniques are rendered useless...Suna is out of the question... Even if they lived in Kumo, that village was eventually buried in snow, and would have had to move out. I doubt a proud people would've willingly sided with a missing-nin village (Taki)...then...by logical means, they would've probably gone to Konoha..."
"Perhaps something bad happened to the Michiyos in Konoha? It wouldn't be so surprising..." Shin added. "Foreign kekkai genkais are often viewed with hatred and suspicion. And it'll be by far worse, if there's a group of them...gives reason, though a poor one, to the fear of sedition..."
Shinratsu shook his head. "I...really don't know. One method, certainly, would be to confront Yokou-hime and demand an answer...but I have no doubt that she would not tell me it without encryption, or at least not all I wish to know... Seeking out Senju is an even less probable and wise choice. But...I must admit...it is rather intriguing..." His eyes suddenly grew cold. "How many Hyouton families still exist out there, and what had happened to that missing clan..." A soft pause.
"In this situation, I suppose there is only two logical explanations. If my base assumption that the Konoha people had treated Michiyos ignobly is correct, providing the Michiyo clan did move their in the first place... It would not be too far from assuming Konoha's ancient families, especially their indigenous noble clans, were at least somewhat responsible for cruelty towards the immigrants. Yokou-hime could well be watching me out of pity...she herself might not have treated the Michiyos poorly, but you know...her people have egos higher than Iwa's mountains..." A pause. "Drawn from the information, this seems the more likely scenario. Or perhaps, it goes deeper than that...perhaps Yokou-hime knew a Michiyo - a personal friend, acquaintance...?"
"On the other hand... I don't think it could be considered an evil deed in the bluntest sense outright. It would appear...that either the Senju in question here is grudging that his student had hurt herself to save me... Or, well...as an older shinobi, it's probably understandable in political terms... I am a foreigner, Konoha and Iwa are not even in formal alliance, and even if the former was the case, an ally would not endanger their own shinobi so much...especially those from the higher hierarchy...for another village. Though unfortunate, it is not uncommon for either sides of an alliance to send the more expendable forces. But it would be an unfair statement, wouldn't it? Konoha and Suna has a most intriguing political alliance... Another possibility, too, is that he cares for his student very much, or a mix of all three."
"However...what I don't quite like where this is going..." Shin's expression darkened. "...is that I'm not probably too wrong to suspect Konoha is trying to acquire my bloodlimit as a weapon... But don't worry, Shizuka-chan." A small smile lit his face. "My loyalty is here with Iwa." Yet, even as he said this, Shinratsu couldn't help but suppress the stinging feeling that he was betrayed... He might not have been able to determine whether Yokou had lied to him or not, but still...
Sharp as always, Shinratsu could not have possibly known how accurate most of his analyzations were. However, in his eyes, a single wrong notion had already made seemingly permanent stains on Konoha... And he wouldn't admit it to Shizuka, but that Senju clan...they were historically ill-reputed, especially for their cruel treatment of Uchiha...and considered indirectly responsible for consenting to (and thereby contributing to the furtherment) of the Hyuuga cadet branch system...
Honestly, he didn't get such a good feeling where the Mokouton-wielding family came to mind... Produced talented Hokages? Yes. Produced many able shinobis? Yes. Tyrannical?
...
Unfortunately...yes...
The tale of how they had cruelly ordered the murder of a clan of their own village...had, after all, horrified and haunted the shinobi world...

"So this is the dark side of Konoha, I suppose? I always had the thought that Konoha was a village that can do no wrong from what I hear the merchants and other villagers talk about." This whole thing even brings up more questions to ask, not about Shinratsu but about her own village. "Why isn't there any Anbu or other shinobi keeping track of these konoha shinobi? Like you said...Iwagakure isn't allied with Konoha and to top it off. Some one from the senju clan is currently here? The same clan that founded Konoha? Nya! If you're going to find those two then I'll go with you."
"Also, I doubt that senju even cares about Youko...as a matter of fact, before Youko ran away. It seems that the senju had to kill his student or attempted too...Really pathetic if you ask me."

Shin shook his head lightly. "Right now, my analyzations only have the flimsy support of assumptions. I could...gather information on Konoha... Though the trouble is, the Iwa villagers won't know much and...well...on wheedling information out of some of the less conspicuous Konoha members themselves...Shizuka-chan, there's a good number of Hyuugas scattered among their group. If they get the slightest inkling of suspicion... Henge would be of no use at all under their doujutsu...they can see chakra..." A slight pause. "But that doesn't mean we can't observe them from a distance. After the training, why don't we use this opportunity to practice stealth?" While Shinratsu appeared nonchalant about this whole business, he withheld his true opinion on what he had thought: if the Senju sensei...what did he introduce himself back there, with Satoshi...?
Like the wind... Zephyr. His mind offered. If Zephyr had truly attempted to kill Yokou...what reasons could he possibly had? No. He had seen how affectionate Zephyr was towards his two students...even if he might've treated Shikamori a little roughly...but still, he did not think that affection was synthetic. Shizuka must've heard wrong. If the older Sannin (Shin has no clue of Zephyr's promotion) had indeed attempted such a thing, he would not have been allowed to stay with his people... No...rather... Wasn't this whole situation very odd? He met the sensei, the Hyuuga queen, the Nara bodyguard...but weren't squads usually in cells of three?
Perhaps...the last student was the one Zephyr tried to kill?

"Well...We can always ask jounins and merchants. Surely they'll know a lot. Hell, we can even ask the old people about Konoha, maybe they may know something." Another smile appeared on Shizuka's face, she loved these types of spying games. But now they're going to be spying on a bunch of Konohagakure shinobi which will make it double the fun! But doing this is surely out of giglamesh's orders and doing so may earn then a powerful smack upon their faces like she received from not obeying her sensei's orders. "Hyuugas....They're the ones who go...Pew pew?" Shizuka made a motion with the palms of her hands trying to imitate they're fighting style. "Isn't there a way you can counter the kekkei genkai?"
