Lin looked at Ambrose and then looked at her professor. She could be filled in later if need be. So, she nodded to Ambrose and smiled. She hopped off of her stool and walked to the gardens with Ambrose. When they were outside, she jumped slightly and wrapped her arms loosely around Ambrose's shoulders in a sideways hug.
"Thank you, Ambrose! I needed to get out of there. Can we go to the pond with the water pixies again?!"
Her smile was bright and happy, one she hadn't smiled in awhile.

"Of course. They'll be pleased to see you again." He said, smiling, feeling his heart warm as she hugged him. He'd showered and changed clothes since coming out of the portal, ridding himself of the sight and smell of death and blood. But it would be a long time before he erased the scent of old pennies from his mind.

Lin looked up at Ambrose with wide and hopeful eyes. "Really, Ambrose?! Do you think they really liked me? I hope so."
Once they arrived at the pond, Lin quickly got on her knees beside it and stared into the depths. She hoped to see some of the small beautiful creatures.

"Of course they liked you. They've eyes, don't they? But they don't just show themselves to anyone. They need an offering, Lovely Lin. A show of faith." To demonstrate, he took a small glass pearl from his pocket, let it sink slowly into the water. It glimmered for a moment, and the sound of a delighted giggle filled his ears. And suddenly the water wasn't ripply and murky, but crystal clear, revealing the underwater mini city of the water fairies.
"There now, isn't that better? Look, it's a family." He leaned forward, over the water, saw two large specs of light dancing along the surface. One of the lights was pushing along a bit of seaweed, which was carrying a smaller light, which was twisting about, making bubbles come to the surface.

Lin gasped and then 'awwwed'. She moved so that she was resting on her stomach and her nose was very close to the water.
"They are so precious! Look at that little light, and they even have a small bit of seaweed to serve as a stroller! Oh, seeing these types of things makes me want to start a family very badly. Some elves get married at my age."

((Part of me wished Lin had stayed, but at least she got a lot of the important information, enough to be able to research later. And now Danni is in the room too, which is just as well, since she needs to hear that stuff too. Great roleplaying while I was gone! Lin and Ambrose make such a sweet couple!))
((But gosh darn it, I always JUST miss Mitsuki!))

Cuwen {{THAT Death Valley?? In the US?... LOL!! Oh wow. I'm sorry, but I just did not picture all of that happening in the United States. Wouldn't that have caught someone's attention?}} ((Actually, if anyone ever bothers reading the front pages with all the info, the entire continent of North America was ravaged five years ago and is currently uninhabitable... unless you really like roughing it.))

((Well, not the ENTIRE continent(s). Riser went for the big metropolises. Probably only the most rural parts of the US were left intact.))

((Preeeettty much. I always envisioned there being very small but still inhabited ruined areas on the east and west coasts. Canada would mostly be untouched, while Mexico and everything south of that is just gone.))

In a swirl of dark mysticism, a new figure appeared in the courtyard.
Tall, dressed in some form of strange white attire streaked with thick black bands in certain places. His face bore a mask similar to that of the Fallen himself; on his left shoulder was the number 43, and where his heart should be bore the word BLACK.
"Where the hell is he..."

Ambrose blinked, felt his heart stutter a bit. "Is that so? Well, when your time comes, the man you choose shall be a lucky one indeed." And he may just have to kill the b*****d.

After the commotion had died down, and Lin had left with Ambrose, and Danni was there, Ophiuchus began to speak again. "Thank you, Danni, for so.. kindly gracing us with your presence." The healer sounded dangerous, but he was concerned for Danni's health. Because of all that had happened, she was one who needed to be resting in the clinic, but she had seen fit to sleep in her own bed instead, without potion... there was some wisdom to that, but not enough for the Serpent's liking.
"Make yourself at home, because this is going to be a long discussion."

Ophiuchus watched Lin intently as the girl sat back down. He was pleased that someone with such healing ability chose to stay, but he felt Lin still did not yet have the mental maturity to accept all the events happening around her. And in that case, he honestly would have preferred if she left. He could not babysit someone who was supposed to be assisting him.
"She did," Ophiuchus responded to Adolf's question. "I was not personally there, but they are the same Setsuka." That had happened after Ophi had hid himself for a thousand years.Adolf pursed his lips and seemed to run through a great deal of curses, likely in multiple languages, as he stood there. He said none of them out loud, though, and but a moment later he was once again rather expressionless. "Then I will remain here and teach. I must keep watch over Athena." In an indirect way, he was also offering his services to aid the war. He was willing to train the students, if need be, but he'd do that as an out-of-class activity. He was much better, really, at teaching history.

"Fine by me. Nice to see you again, Ophi." She added, switching her gaze from the ceiling to the healer, managed to work up what might have just passed for a smile.
"Go on, you were talking about war and Mirror b***h and so on." She said, leaning her head back against the wall, waiting for him to continue.
