Kallisto nodded, closing her eyes, "It was so awkward... Everybody was so energetic and emotional and yet I couldn't help but wonder if I should be there. It was like I was intruding on their personal life - not something I'd willingly do at any time." She sighed, "I love the Arena, it's like a second home for me, but that duel actually made it seem like I didn't belong." She paused, blinking. She'd never spoken like to anyone. She usually just smiled and moved on.
She grinned though, it was nice to have somebody actually agree with her though. The duel, or the final moments of it anyway, wasn't something she thought the city shoul have been privy to.
"Great! Sparring by Orrys is really useful. I recently borrowed a copy of it. Herbal medicine?" She sounded curious but her question was lost as he asked her to tutor him. She broke into a huge grin, obviously overjoyed at being asked such a question, "Of course! It'll be great! Just ask and I'll see if I can help. I'm just a beginner but I do know a few a things." She nodded once more, her eyes sparking.

Yambati watched her speak attentively. Somebody else agreed with him? He had felt so left out, watching the crowd gone wild. So out of place.
"I can understand that. At the very least, they shouldn't have amplified their voices like that. I would never lay myself open to the city like that."
But then the mood changed, and he straightened a little. Ah, Sanguine cheer.
"I'm a... gardener. Recently gained the position. I adore plants, but to get to where I want to be, I need to study much more... I believe, to be a botanist, I need to study music, as well.
"And... whenever you have the time. Even if you just allow me to watch you spar with somebody else, that will be help enough." Yambati, despite his natural recoil from her cheerfulness, felt himself... not frowning. Not smiling, but it was a definite improvement.

"Mhmmm." She nodded, "Oh? Interesting! I want to be an Alchemist so I've got to be familiar with plants as well." She seemed to wilt a little, "But I can never seem to keep a plant for very long before it dies so I don't know how good I'll be but I still enjoy it." She tapped a technoring and produced the vial of Sunspots they'd received in Cooking class and showed it to Yambati, "That's from Tryna's class. Bottled light. Amazing isn't it? Made with sundew plants." She smiled happily, glad to see it was still potent.
"Oh, as long as we're not sparring outside the Arena, I could show you a few things." She paused briefly, "But if you'd prefer to watch and learn first, that's fine too. I could ask Grave if he feels like sparring again, you could watch then. He's an Academic so he's awfully quick and agile while I'm Kinesthetic so I'm not particularly fast but I'm strong. You could see the different ways of fighting that way." She was trying to be helpful, offering alternatives as she sensed a sort of reservation from Yambati and didn't want to pull him into something he wasn't interested in.

"... I could help you learn about plants, then, in return." The offer took a short time in coming - he was weighing the pros and cons of getting into an agreement like that. But the benefits outweighed whatever negatives there were.
"Both, actually, would probably help. I don't have much of an idea of where to start... books are just a tried and true method for me. Though for something as physical as dueling, I suppose they won't help as much, mm?"

Kallisto thought for a moment and then have a quick nod, "Agreed. Maybe your green thumb will help." She chuckled as he continued, "Books only go so far for me. Hands on and displays work so much better in my opinion. You can actually manipulate it in reality rather then just imagine the concept as you do with a book." She leaned against the shelf, the books she'd taken tucked carefully against her chest as she spoke.

"Yes, I've found that with plant care, as well. And I can see how much more helpful hands-on instruction would be with dueling." He shifted his own books, unconsciously mimicking her action slightly - though his were tucked against his side, rather than his chest. He adjusted his glasses slightly.
But now he was at a loss for what to say. He supposed they should make plans, but the words wouldn't quite come.

Kallisto pondered a moment, running through her things to do and found she had nothing important lined up for that evening. And the free period was coming up soon so... "Say, are you free tonight? We could work in the Flora Gardens, as I'm assuming that's where you practice your botany, and they're big enough so that we could practice some dueling basics afterwards too." Her tone was very much hopeful, and fairly subdued for a Sanguine. She didn't like intruding on people's time but enjoyed their company greatly.
She pushed off from the shelves and turned slightly, awaiting his answer.

And that obvious consideration of his own time, apparent in how she spoke and how she held herself, made the corners of his lips twitch, slightly, so slightly.
"That... would be..." He searched for the word. "Appreciated." It wasn't quite what he meant to say, and a look of mild frustration passed over his features for a moment.
Actual conversation got hard.

Kallisto blinked, having to run through his words again and then smiled. He's agreed... sort of. She dipped a bit of a bow and flashed him her most appreciative smile. "Well then, when would be a good time? I'm free pretty much free now. Oh, and since the next free period is coming up soon, we could practice then too if you'd like. Practice makes perfect, after all." Kallisto nodded, amused that he seemed to get tongue tied easily. However, she didn't comment - didn't think he would respond well to teasing.

"Well, tonight, as you said. I would like to read a little, first, so I have at least a little more understanding of what I'm getting myself into... so perhaps... near sunset? That should give me enough time, as long as you're not opposed to working in half-light.
"If you are, we could always choose another day. The free period definitely seems promising."

"Oh, alright. Gives me a chance to browse through these books as well then." She bobbed her head and turned, "Did you need help with anything else? Otherwise I think I'll go check these out." She jostled her books for emphasis.

"... No. No, I think I'm set. ... Thank you." He seemed very awkward with the words, now, as if he were reaching his limit with cordial conversation.
"I'll see you tonight, then," he said, slightly abruptly. Then he nodded his head sharply - a movement without practice behind it, obviously - and wandered off to find his herbology book.

She watched him wander off, waving slightly and turned to go herself. Kallisto wasn't quite sure what to make of Yambati. He seemed interesting, a little awkward, and definitely reserved. It made her wonder what else there was to him as that surely couldn't be all.
She checked the books out - one from Orrys, Bellona, and the last from Dameron.

After a good fifteen minutes browsing the section on gardening and botany, Yambati made his last selection - The Herb Book by John B. Lust. That made three.
So he made his way up to the front of the library and waited to check them out. He planned on spending the hours between then and dusk reading Orrys's sparring text and perusing The Herb Book. It would fill up the time nicely, and keep his mind occupied - he had had enough of wondering why Kallisto wasn't bothering him as much as he had expected. Of wondering why she wasn't really bothering him at all.
Perhaps he had to re-evaluate his fundamental mistrust of Sanguines. Both Lior (though his... affectionate nature (or what Yambati had glimpsed of it) left him on edge) and Kallisto were making up from his unfortunate encounter with Mat.

Grave sat on Requiem's cushioned chair and smiled to himself as his feet barely touched the floor. Since he'd gotten the position as the Librarian's Assistant, he'd mostly helped Requiem out by putting away returned books, dusting shelves and polishing tables. But today, Requiem had stepped out to investigate a possible reference finding, leaving Grave alone in charge of the Library. the feeling was invigorating, being trusted with so much responsibility. Grave was clearly beaming happily. He positively grinned from ear to ear when a Choleric boy approached with some books to borrow. "Hello," Grave said, smiling. "Which references would you like to check out today?" He asked pleasantly, mimicking Requiem's queries perfectly.
