Natsumi had no reserves to her expressions when she got gifts, she had been raised knowing they were all rather special. Even when her brother tried to spoil her it was still minor things. Nothing like this! All in all she looked estatic, not just because of the beauty of the object in her palm, but moreso things like: out of all the people he had given it to her, and where on earth had he managed to get it. As far as she had seen there wasn't a jewery store anywhere around the are.
Mannors, her mind chimed in through her various stages of excitment over the few seconds that had passed examining her gift. "Thankyou!" she squeaked, looking up when he had one of his renound hiccup... things. Poor guy. "Yes. I like it alot." she gave a nod, making sure to give him a big smile. Maybe she was getting too excited but... Better to overreact than to underreact for such a thing.
She paused to set the wrapping down on the counter, brushing her hair away from the back of her neck to try and put the sign of affection on. The fact this was a gift of wooing hadn't quite caught up to the little forign girl, it probably would soon though. Flowers, jewelry, it was all classic. There was a small struggle with the clasp against hand webbing, but after a few shifts she managed to lock it, drop her amrs, and peer down at it. "How does it look?" She now tried to still her excitment, fidgeting. She was supposed to be a woman now, composed and respectable, not squealing like a highschool girl over a shiney thing. This was all ignoring the fact she had just been a highschool girl back in march.

Newt beamed, looking extatic, "It luh-luh-looks lovely! W-well, anything w-would l-look lovely on... I m-mean... ah... krrrKIT! I... I'm so g-glad you like it!"

Anything would look lovely on... her? That was the end, most likely. Flutter, skip went her heart. That good old highschool feeling of potential boyfriends and romantic affairs the movie stars would envy. Things that would never really happen, but all the girls would like to imagine they would. Ofcourse... She'd had alot of things happen that no movie had thought of. Like turning into a lizard thing, for example... She must have missed that one.
She gave a more awkward smile in responce, mind slowly but surely picking up the little details it needed to figure out just why he had given her this. No holidays. Just simple wooing, lucky for him it had partially worked. Not that she was gonna give up the lovein' just yet, as Taro could vouch for she was rather hard to crack, though not impossible. Still she owed him something... They could go on another date? No a date wouldn't do... She couldn't go outside. Her mind worked, fidgeting over the smooth surface of the stone. Oh duh, the hug.. the compromise of the woman world to the man world. An affectionate touch that meant no set in stone meaning. Perfect.
She knelt to meet his froggish stature, slipping her arms around his upper torso, trying to keep mindful of that glass of water. Pressure and... Tada, hug! She gave the light squeaze, a friendly thankful gesture just long enough that it might be accountable for something more... and yet still elusive. Then she let go, backed off, and returned to standing. Atleast highschool had taught her something.

At the hug, Newt's heart raced, threating to explode from his chest in a messy beating mess. He floundered with his free hand, wrapping it around her befor his throat inflated between them, pushing him back with a nervious "KrrKIT!" He cleared his throat, though, his hands trembling and slightly slimy in his amphibious nerviousness. "I'm ah... krrKIT! Ah, s-sorry- krrKIT!" A hug! A hug! She had given him a hug! Not quite a kiss, but it was a start, wasn't it? Not many people gave the frog-man hugs, and he wasn't quite sure what to do about it.

Ah, that croack.. Again. Like a nervious tick, almost, or a blush maybe? No, he probably did that around everyone... Atleast thats what Natsumi told herself. It was only natural to push away thoughts of bieng special, that only lead to dissapointment in most cases.
She gave a soft smile, and a shake of her head, "No, it is fine." She waved it off, not minding his croaks... They were hiccups, afterall, he had no control. "Drink... Maybe? To get rid of the hiccups." She pointed to the water already in his hand. There was a mild temptation to tease him about scaring but that would have been childish and unladylike, so she withheld.

"Huh-huh-hiccups?" He squeeked, clearing his throat as he tried to hold in the urge to continue his rediculous mating call. "I... it's n-not ah... I m-mean..." Why DID the frog in his throat get so bad when he was around her? Well, that was easy to answer. He wimpered, shivering slightly as he tried to swallow another one down. "Ah... krrURK-" he gulped, "M-miss... m-miss N-nnatsumi.. er..."

They're not hiccups? But.. "Did you not say they were like hiccups?" She thoguht he had... Ofcourse she thought the bushes outside were going to eat her too.
"Hm?" she responded to her name, smiling reassuringly as he seemed to get mroe nervious.. What with the shivering and all.. Poor guy, what on earth could be wrong, she wondered.

"Luh-like b-but... ah..." He cleared his throat, He glanced to the side and then back, huddled down and looking thouroughly stressed, "I... I sh-should... sh-should go. Um... ah... I'm... I'm g-glad you... you liked the ne-nn-nuuuh-n-necklace... Ah..."

Natsumi frowned some, nodding as he spoke... Had she said something wrong? Done something wrong? He had to look like he was for a reason... and he was leaving in a hurry, or so it seemed. "Alright... Thankyou again."
She then moved to the door, carefully unlocking it. There was a pause, before she actually opened the door partway, left.. right.. safe. She moved aside with a smile. "Come see me again later, maybe?" She offered, almost hesitantly.

"Ah... um... krrKIT! Ah... m-maybe... ah... y-yes... um... " He hopped towards the door, feeling foolish and embarassed. Maybe she just... didn't like him. At least in that way. "W-we... ah... c-could um... anytime... ah..." He floundered, his voice a mumble befor he gave a timid, "Ah... g-goodbye!!" And bolted from the door to hop away in frantic embarassment.

Fidget, fuss... The whole situation made her so nervious. Filled her head with various scoldings over right and wrong her mother or teachers had given her over her lifetime. Which in turn made it harder to pick out the english... However, Newton hadn't said anything out of her vocabulary so that was okay for the moment.
"Goodbye..." She responded, pausing before peakign her head out of the duplex "Be safe!" she called after, wanting to make sure he heard her. Getting a twinge of fear that she might not see him again either...
The door shut, then locked... The woman waited a moment, stepping away form the door idly, before letting out a sigh and hitting her palm into her forhead. "Baaakaaa~" she whined, flopping over backwards onto her bed. It was highschool all over again...

Natsumi had received a letter for a "halloween party." and was met with a horrible twist of fate. She had no idea what halloween was. Maybe a small one, but it was some distant forign thing that American children did for candy wasn't it? And.. All in all, utterly pointless. But there weren't any kids here... So what was this "party" they were talking about? She was really wishing she hadn't given away some of her english books to Taro.
But in the end, she'd tried to think of something, putting together halloween was something like a festivle in her own culture, where one pays respect to the dead and whatnot... Except American's seemed to have it alot weirder. Really, what did dead people have to do with children getting candy? Hm.. Maybe she was mixing up holidays.
But whatever it was, the labs had said to call for a costume... With no costume ideas whatsoever, she had ordered a simple kimono to wear, as per the tradition of the simmalar holiday back home.
