Once out of Accumula Town, Zak turned to Boo, who was floating along beside him. Daeva had leaped back to his shoulders the moment she was let out, stretching herself as long as she could to take up as much as possible, staring (with empty eye sockets) at the ghost pokemon with as much intimidation as she could muster. Boo seemed to be generally ignoring her.
"Boo, go see vat you can find," he instructed. "Boo!" she replied, then quickly soared off. Zak shrugged his shoulders, then again, a bit more indicatively, to get Daeva off, so he could resume tossing the ball. He paused a moment, though, as something occurred to him, and he again placed the ball under one arm to free up his hands. He pulled his bag around again and drew out his computer, opening it to check on the status of his program. Ah, good... it had successfully hacked into the PC. He glanced up, paused, then quickly began sifting through PC's. He would try and keep the connection open to do substantially more, but he had to do be careful that he didn't do too much too soon so that it didn't actually look like a hacking; it had to start with a few system glitches, then a much more massive system failure. He did a few rearrangements, one or two pokemon 'disappearances', then snapped the computer closed, continuing towards Striation.

Awesome. He scowled as he dropped his arm to his side, the screen on his watch going black. Looking around, he decided to challenge the gym-- it couldn't be hard-- and strode for the restaurant-looking building. Weirdest 'gym' he'd found, but whatever; at least he could get some food afterwards.
Upon entering, he was greeted by a waiter, and once he informed them of why he was there, taken to the battle area. He had to tell them which starter he had, too; he'd almost forgot this was actually where he got Sotnik, and that that actually effected this battle. Unova... was such a strange region. Luckily, though, he had alternative options. "So! You started with a grass type, eh!?" the fiery gym leader remarked, striding out. Red hair... how original for a trainer using flame pokemon... "I recently battled one of those! I lost, too-- but I know what to expect now!" he added, grabbing his pokeball. "You're assuming I'm going to use him," Zak remarked, actually smirking in amusement, grabbing Totodile's pokeball, "While he is fully evolved and knows a water attack.... I have other pokemon to train." Chili's expression fell as the water pokemon was released, but then hardened in determination, and he sent out his pokemon as well.

"Yow! Guess I'm all burnt out." Chili returned his fallen pokemon with an exclamation and a pun, for there was truly no better way to end a battle. "A water-type that knows a fighting-type move? You won't be running out of steam anytime soon." he joked, lopsided grin wide, right before he collected Zakhav's items, three in total, and handed them over to him. Chili tilted his chin up to make eye contact with the Russian as the trade off was made. "That fiery determination of yours has won you the Trio badge and the HM Cut." he explained. "And, as an added bonus, the TM Psych Up."

Zak twitched a little, returning Totodile as the gym leader approached. Did he... have to fit a pun in with everything he said? ... Yes, apparently he did. Trying not to let his right eye twitch in irritation, Zak reached out, taking the victory items. "Right..." So annoyed, it was almost hard not to let his accent bleed through, but he managed it. "Th...ank you...." Mostly. He put the items away, turning and heading out, jerking to a stop as Boo rushed up to greet him. Daeva looked up at her, frowning again, but Zak's focus was more on the bundle of items she had. And this... was why he'd requested Boo. "Gud find, Boo," he remarked, taking the two-- where these more plugs for Meebus? And one gem, like the one Lillipup had found him. He reached into his backpack, pulling out a chocolate candy bar, and handing it to the pokemon, who squealed happily.
Putting the items away, he headed for the exit of the town. If Castelia City really was his best bet, than he wanted to try and get there at least before it got too late in the day.
