These ghosts just weren’t giving up. Jacque growled in frustration, but took a breath, forcing himself to calm down. It was bad enough he could hardly sense the things, let alone hear them, but the constant interruptions were just downright rude. Maybe Sebastian had the right idea on these things, after all…

”Wait, Koda!” Mimey’s cry came too late. Not to stop Koda, but because he’d already realized what she had noticed, too. Not soon enough to withdraw his attack… but he backed off, staring at the defeated ghost. His tail thrashed behind him and his eyes flashed, watching her, but not absorbing her soul, like he had with so many other ghosts. The former opponent remained crumpled on the floor a moment, then stirred.
Mimey lifted her head up, only to quickly looked towards Jay. ”Jay, I need a pokeball!” she squeaked out. She set the lantern down, scrambling towards his bag. ”I’m taking one from your bag!” Jay shook his head slightly, looking flabbergasted. ”Wait what?” he asked, turning with her footsteps, ”What’d ah miss?” He frowned, turning back to try and listen for any indication of what was going on. All he could catch, though, was Koda padding off to battle another encroaching pokemon, while Mimey hurried forward to catch the Froslass.

Jacque frowned. Koda was acting… weird. Mimey noticed it too, of course, but now even he was picking up on it. It was one of those things that was hard to put your finger on, but he didn’t sound like he was acting right. Had he absorbed too many ghosts? His explanation for why he was more slid had never really been completed, but thinking about it… he’d battled an enormous amount of them. And from what Mimey had told him, the pokemon didn’t just leave when they were defeated; they became a part of Koda. Maybe he was getting weighed down by them? But, they were ghosts… did they even have weight? Weren’t they the opposite of solid?
Jay gave a click of his tongue, and yup… he heard a slight echo from where Koda was. He got the faintest impression of where the flurry was, just as he turned to launch himself onto a Doublade that came swinging into the room.

Is he getting’ his own set uh ghosts comin’ after ‘em?” Jay tried again, frowning as he listened for his pokemon’s response. ”I think so, yeah…” Koda admitted, sounding thoughtful as he considered it. Mimey eyed him worriedly, but looked to Jay. ’Don’t worry, Jay. These pokemon don’t seem that strong, and Sebastian has his own pokemon. I’m sure they’re fine,’ she piped up reassuringly. Jay frowned, then turned his head a bit as he heard Koda pacing, apparently waiting for the next pokemon to appear. ”… Yew alright, Koda?” he asked after a moment. ”I’m fine~!” the flurry replied happily. Maybe he had just been hearing things earlier…
Koda perked up as a Gengar poked its head in, but frowned, his expression darkening a bit as its eyes widened, and it disappeared before he could attack. His energy lifted right back up, though, as yet another yamask appeared, and he launched himself at it to take it down before it could feel like the Gengar had.

Koda bounded in the other direction, quickly knocking out a Cofagrigus that was trying to pull its way in through the floor. Jade, meanwhile, stayed near Jacque, but there was something odd. Mimey noticed it, staring with a blank expression, and remaining still even as Jay started to walk towards the door.

Mimey stared in surprise as Jade followed Jacque, but blinked when the meleeon’s smile vanished, her eyes narrowed, and her gaze slid to Mimey and the lamp. ”Keep that thing behind me,” she muttered darkly, ”Or put it out.” The psychic-fairy’s expression dropped and she stared bluntly back at her teammate. Oh well yeah okay… That was more fitting of Jade. Shifting the lantern away slightly, Mimey moved to follow behind, but didn’t put the lantern out. She still wanted to see, even if the light was clearly annoying Jade. Everything annoyed Jade, though, it seemed.
While Koda took care of a misdreavus that had wandered into the room, Jacque opened the door and stepped out. The hallway felt a few degrees colder than his room. Maybe there were some Froslass around… or other ice-ghosts, if there were any. Or maybe it was just less insulated. Somehow, though, given the fact that Jay hadn’t even lit a fire in his room, and had in fact had an ice pokemon of his own with him, he highly doubted it was a simple matter of preserving heat in the smaller bedroom.

No, Jay didn’t notice Golett take out the ghost pokemon. He was still musing over Koda’s suggestion. ”Ya think she’s had enough time ta recover uh bit?” he asked, listening towards Mimey a bit more. She seemed to catch on, and perked up. ’I think so,’ she commented. She gave a nervous glance to Koda. ’You’re not going to absorb her or anything, are you Koda?’ she asked. Koda looked at her in surprise. ”Huh? No! Of course not!” he replied, giving her a slightly distressed look. Mimey pouted. Now she felt bad. Maybe she was being a little hyper sensitive over his behavior, too… Maybe it was just flurry mood swings or something. It wasn’t like he’d been a part of their team all that long. Jay reached back, a bit reluctantly, and grabbed Froslass’ pokeball. He remembered where he’d put it, but this was admittedly a good reminder to mark it. He grabbed his marker, as well, quickly decorating the pokeball so he could put it away. Releasing the Froslass, he tried listening for any indication of Sebastian and his pokemon. Didn’t he say their rooms were right by each other? And yet he couldn’t pinpoint anything he was hearing. It didn’t sound as close as it should be, if it were coming from Sebastian’s room.
Turning his attention away from that, he listened as Mimey addressed the weakened Froslass. Jade, meanwhile, bounded off to help Golett bring down more of the ghosts. ’Hi! Are you okay? I know you got hit pretty hard by Koda’s attack…’ she was saying. Jay couldn’t see them, of course, but he could feel the chill from the Froslass’ presence. ’I’m Mimey, by the way.’ The Froslass held her hands together in front of her, her head slightly bowed as she gazed at Mimey. Finally, she closed her eyes, giving a bow. ’Hello, Mimey. Yes… I’m fine, thank you.’

Mimey blinked, glancing at Jay, who quirked an eyebrow, and then at Koda, who didn’t seem to be paying attention. He, like Jade and Golett, appeared to be on the lookout for ghosts. Mimey looked back to the froslass, frowning a bit. ’U-uhm… I don’t think so… I think Koda fought a gastly or something earlier, but it wasn’t with any other pokemon, I don’t think…’ she admitted. The froslass looked down, but then lifted her head. Similarly, Koda turned, prowling over, but as a Gengar appeared in the hallway, Jade beat him to it. She immediately leaped through the air, biting down hard, and bringing the pokemon down. As she did, two more pokemon appeared; an oddly colored haunter pushed his way through the wall, bringing a cold chill with him, and a gastly floated up through the floor, looking to its fallen comrade with slight surprise. Well… wasn’t that convenient.
