Well, best to get started somehow. Orika hopped out of bed and walked around looking for medical books she could start researching in. She suddenly realized she hadn't showered in like forever, but then again, hygiene had never been her strong suit. Oh, well, that can wait until after she was done saving lives. That might be something she could look into instead of destroying lives. Yeah, that might be a fun profession. Orika's club wobbled as she walked along and she touched it to steady the huge thing. A jolt of ecstasy shot through her limbs and the girl realized she couldn't possibly leave behind the beastly life that being a shinobi provided her. She would have to strive for compromise, just like she told Karite. She would kill only when necessary and do everything she could to save lives and never, never rush into battle empty headed. And to do that, she'd unfortunately have to study. Orika cracked open the book on Common Natural Cures and looked in the index for burns. Luckily, it was a common topic and pointed to several plants that people often used to treat burns. Bilberry, gotu kola, calendula, marigold, comfrey root, goldenseal, tea tree... The list went on and on. Look! A section on burns. She flipped to that page and was greeted by a large green prickly leaf thing. The caption below read Aloe Vera.

It looked like something that would belong in one of her mother's stews. Yum... She was sure she'd seen something like that around the island. Orika glanced at the other plants that were on the page and yawned as she read through their descriptions, even if she'd only just woken up. She'd rather be hunting. That was a lot more fun. Her mind drifted off as she tried to read, reading a sentence sometimes ten or more times and then absentmindedly moving onto a paragraph way down the page. Orika wondered how Maya was doing and Karite. He had seemed... upset after she made him take the oath. Was there something wrong? Why hadn't he sought her out to check on how she was doing? Oh no! Was he killed in the fire? Or hurt? He didn't live in the Housing District, but maybe he was visiting a friend! No, she shouldn't worry. Orika relaxed her muscles and breathed deeply a couple of times. She forced herself to think positively. Karite was fine. If anybody had been injured, they would have brought them to the clinic by now. Oh, but what if he got hurt training in some distant forest to please her and find truth and they didn't find his body until sometime way later when the wolves and the bears got a chance to go at it?! Ah! She couldn't concentrate with such horrible thoughts on her mind!

Orika took a break and breathed in deeply, shaking her head as she forced the thoughts from her mind. She set down the book and walked to the window where she stared out, ignoring the quiet commotion of the morning, both inside the clinic and of the people just discovering the Housing District was in flames. Well, her just discovering. Everyone else in the district picking up what's left of their belongings. She sighed and thought about going to find Karite and apologizing for... something. She did what she thought was right and Karite was always going on about how she had to follow her heart to do what she knew was the correct path to take. Something like that. And she knew it wasn't right to kill without a reason... But... Oh, what did she do wrong? Orika groaned and took a sip of the tea she'd made earlier. As she screwed the canteen cap back in, she did feel a little better. The tea was delicious and still retained its flavorfulness after a night of sitting out in a musty canteen. Okay, so she felt more relaxed, but the girl couldn't help but worry still. There was just something bugging her and she couldn't put her finger on it so her mind jumped to something she KNEW wasn't right. The way she'd been treating Karite lately... did she really love him?

No, it wasn't a matter of her loving him in the manner of passion. It was a matter of the simple fact that if she did love him, she'd think about him all the time or hunger for his touch or wither if he wasn't around... something that lovers do, right? Were they lovers or just really good friends who were also horny teenagers? Orika blushed. That last thought made her sound like she'd been messing around in the bed with her boyfriend. How embarrassing! And now she was giggling insanely like a common village girl. The girl did a double check and made sure none of the hospital inhabitants were looking her way and finished with a few muffled laughs. It was just so funny, to think that she and Karite were that close. ... In fact, she hardly knew him. They'd made out a couple of times, but like their bond, it was instinctual, beastly. They were responding to emotions rather than active thought. She may not know much about the boy, but she still yearned for him like a cub yearned for a warm place to snuggle up to. It was a confusing situation. They were more like animals than a real couple. Okay, so what should she do about it? Find Karite. Yeah... later. Orika wondered what was keeping her from seeking him out and demanding that they talk until she realized that that was the reason she'd been thinking about him all along. They didn't really talk and when they did it was him rambling on about his aspirations and how he was going to protect her. It was all about him!

She had never known herself to be both so indecisive or girly before. Orika rose and stuffed the heavy medicine book in her tiny belt bag. The book would only go in halfway, but it looked like it would stay if she maneuvered her hand there once in a while. The girl waved goodbye to the nurses and grabbed a roll of bread and butter on her way out, courtesy of Tenko's amazing early morning shopping skills! Now, where was Karite going to be? Obviously, she should check her second home, the Tategami Grounds first, then she'd move onto... um... someplace far out of the village limits. Karite always liked training hard in desolate places. Oh! And she should really make a stop by the housing district in case anyone needed her help! Orika chewed and chewed her bread until she choked. She gulped down a pitcher of water and then left for good. On her way, she hummed a little melody she'd heard somewhere in her life. It was sad, but felt right to hum. Eventually, the girl started singing softly to herself, for it was not a song to belt, but to sing softly and melancholy. It was weird because normally she hated music, but something in her desperately wanted to sing.

If I told you
All the words I've yet to say
Would they matter
Or would you simply turn and walk away?

If I hold you
Will you tell me I should go
Do I chance it
Or would it just be better not to know?

[Exit to Village]
PostPosted: Sat Apr 03, 2010 4:16 pm

Are you sure you’re ready to leave?

Shisei only gave the nurse a small glare and nod before finishing zipping up his jacket. His eyes looked outside the windows to the village. At the same time the sunlight struck through and massaged half his face in light. Because of such a pale pigmentation that side of his almost seemed like a fragment of one’s imagination. The other half remained clouded in the darkness of the room. A silent voice. A blind eye. An enigmatic mind. The serpent youth left the clinic without looking back.

[let me continue my control training rofl after like... ages. burning_eyes i was at 1/3 successes.]

Kane had passed out halfway through attempting to help transport his sister to the clinic. He supposed that the physical strain from, you know, having floated around with food or water for DAYS as well as the mental strain from your sister having FORGOTTEN WHO YOU WERE finally got to him. He barely remembered what had happened after his collapse. The next thing he knew he was awake in bed. He didn't know how much time had passed and even where his sister was. All he knew was that he was feeling better. So he tried getting up, but was hit with an immense wave of dizzying nausea. Well that option was out of the window... He also cleared his throat and tried to say something, but nothing came out. Great...

Kane idled for a while, around 15 - 20 minutes, just staring into space and thinking about what had happened. About the attack, his squad mates - what had become of them? He felt really guilty - he was their squad leader after all! But even this brooding extraordinaire couldn't brood for too long. He was bored, he needed to do something. But walking around was clearly out of the question. Experimentally, Kane tried to conjure up some chakra, and noted with pleasant surprise that it didn't feel at nauseating as trying to walk or talk. He supposed he'd found his afternoon activity...

Yamanaka Kane
PostPosted: Mon Jul 26, 2010 10:57 am

After dragging Sheshiro to the clinic, as well as making sure Kanami got the young man and girl back here as well, Misaki was rather tired, so she had taken to bumming around the clinic, checking out it's goings on. This place was always a buzz, specially with all the causalities of the events of the past few days... it was kinda depressing to see so many of this islands occupants laying in beds, ill or injured. There would no doubt be many dead before long....

The wasn't sure of what her next moves should be.... villagers were caring for their shops and homes, and most of the shinobi left were out taking care of the eradication mission. With a heavy sigh, Misaki decided she would report to the new kage, see if there was anything that needed to be done. As she headed back towards the door, she noticed one of the stranded beach goers was rather more alert then he was when she had left him. "Why hello there sailor!" she exclaimed with a smile as she poked her head in, might as well check on him before she left.

Well, Kane wasn't too surprised that his first attempt was a bit pathetic compared to his normal calibre. He had just been rescued from floating out at sea for 4 days after all. And confronted with the mental strain of his sister losing her memory. Wait, don't think about it, don't think about it... focus on generating more chakra...

Fortunately Kane was saved from contemplation by the entrance of Misaki. Well, the appearance of her head more like. Kane cleared his throat and tried talking again, but couldn't. A longsuffering expression crossed his face for a moment before it cleared and he just smiled the Yamanaka smile at Misaki. Of course it was muted due to his poor health but well, that's like saying the Sun was muted slightly because you were 100 metres away from it instead of right on its surface.

A small grin crossed Misaki’s face as the Yamanaka tossed a smile towards her. In her down time she was able to get a few of the nurses to give her some information on the young wash-ups. It was refreshing to that this one wasn’t adorned with the usual depression that Misaki had seen around the village, specially considering his ordeal. So with a little huff, misaki bounced around in search of a glass to put some water in. Once that mission was accomplished, she bounced her way back to the one called Kane and offered him the glass. “Should help you feel a tiny bit better, don’t ya think?” she said as she held to glass to him.
