- The Clinic -

User Image

The clinic of Shimagakure is by far the largest building in the entire village. The village itself is constantly promoting good health, knowledge, and everyday well being. The doctors of the clinic are not your average white coated lab scientists - they are trained shinobi. They dedicate their time to researching healing techniques that use chakra. It is a hard job that requires massive concentration, but the doctors are very dedicated to their tasks. There was a lot of damage done to the clinic, but due to it’s importance to the shinobi and villagers, it was one of the best kept and quickly rebuild buildings. It isn’t as grand as it was before the Black Spring events, but it still holds the same importance and standards.

-Doctors and Nurses-

Owner: Ivory
Name: Kumiko
Age: 25
Sex: Female
Rank: Nurse
Background: Kumiko lived in the Fire country as quite the hussy. Since she was granted with beauty, she would use that beauty to constantly get what she wanted. Kumiko had no interest in the medical area until she was attacked by a group of men whom she had screwed over through gambling. Kumiko was brought to the hospital that Tenko worked at. Tenko is Kumiko's best friend since she cared for Kumiko and even taught her things about plants and taking care of patients. When Tenko was invited to Shimagakure by Hyuuga Nao, Kumiko automatically went along.
Personality: Kumiko is very flirtatious and not shy at all. She likes to have power struggles with Tenmoki Yuki from time to time since Yuki is also a beautiful woman and competition for Kumiko. Once Yuki got married, Kumiko began referring to her as an old hag. Kumiko can be cruel at times, but deep down she's always wanting to help the world be a better place and she feels she can do that by helping the shinobi of Shimagakure.
Skills: Kumiko is very good at getting attention from men. She can teach genins and chunins a thing or two about sexuality. [Seduce, Charisma, Knowledge.]
Special: Can give +3 help to rolls.

Owner: Ivory
Name: Tenko
Age: 25
Sex: Female
Rank: Nurse
Background: Tenko was raised as a peasant and lived with her family happily. Nothing exciting has ever happened in her life. She studied medicine at a clinic that Hyuuga Nao was head of in the Fire Country. She excelled in her studies and was great with patients, but never was able to function under pressure. She met Kumiko who had become one of her patients and listened to her life story. Tenko became good friends with Kumiko and helped her become a regular nurse at the Hyuuga's clinic. When the time came for Nao to leave the Fire Country, Tenko was invited along. She was more than happy to be chosen by the doctor, so she willingly went with after the village was built. Tenko hasn't seen much of Nao since she arrived in Shimagakure, but she had began to grow a sparkling admiration towards Tenmoki Yuki. Tenko works hard every day to please Yuki and do her best to live a modest life in Shimagakure.
Personality: Tenko is very modest and sweet. Since she wasn't graced with good looks, she's had to work hard at being kind to people in order to gain friends. Tenko is constantly fantasizing about having a family or doing strange things with other members of the clinic's staff. Tenko doesn't realize that she is a lesbian quite yet, but one day she should figure it out.
Skills: Tenko is a very smart individual and is willing to teach students, genins and chunins anything they'd like about plants, nursing and medical technicalities. [Alchemy, Intelligence, Knowledge]

There was no sound that brought Aya back around from the dreamless sleep that she had dozed off into. It was merely the warm glow of the evening sun coming through the opened window of the lab that Aya had walked up to. She was lying in an awkward position over the stone counter that she had pulled the inventory sheet out onto. "Eh?" Aya said rubbing her eyes as she lifted her pale blue head up off the cold counter. 'Must've dosed off...' Aya thought to herself as she rolled her neck from shoulder to shoulder to get out the awkward kinks. Falling asleep like this wasn't unusual for Aya since she was always spending more chakra than needed and passing out without warning. She couldn't believe just how much time had passed since she had come up to the room. Ichi would definitely scold her if she took too long! Well... he really wouldn't scold her at all, but she knew better than to play around like this. There were antidotes that needed to be made for every shinobi going on the mission to the Rice Country. It was something that Aya was responsible for completing until her mother got back from the mainland.

Looking down at the inventory sheet, she noticed that three viles of antidote had already been made. That meant that Aya needed to make... Holding out her hand, she began naming off names and putting up fingers. "Maya, Baki, Kana, Ichi, Shinichi, Moma, Naru, Kane, Sukotto... and myself!" Aya said, looking at her fingers and counting ten. Three had been made, so she had to make seven more. Aya hadn't counted Seshiro or Sachiriku, because since they were Orochi they were immune to the poison.

"Seven," Aya said to herself as she slid off the stool that she had been sitting on and walked over to the storage cabinet. It was called the cabinet, but it was more of a pantry since you could walk inside. It was dark, cool and moist in the small closet, but it had a fresh smell inside. All the plants that were bundled up in shelves really brought about the smell of a forest. Aya loved that smell and took a deep breath in. It was refreshing with the misty cool air hitting her lungs. Grabbing a sample of swamp orchid and some venom from the white snake of Shimagakure, Aya left the pantry, closing the door tightly behind her. The room felt much warmer on her now cooled skin, but the warmth was welcoming like a warm hug. "Aw~" Aya sighed blissfully as she returned to her work station, setting down the items on the counter. Taking a seat once again, Aya began pulling out the instruments to extract the nectar from the flower and to synthesize the enzymes in the venom. The warm air was making her feel a bit tired again, but there was no more nap time for her! It was already evening and they were going to leave the moment the sun set. There wasn't much time to dilly dally about.

Taking the band around her wrist and tying back her strands of pale blue hair, Aya brought the flower in front of her first. She had to extract the nectar from it carefully and not damage the flower or else the nectar may be lost and contaminated with the pollen. Taking out the long and thin needle, Aya looked underneath the petals to try and spot the area she was to puncture and hold the needle in. Her blue eyes examined the plant carefully as she made her educated guess to where she was to extract the liquid.

"Uuuw," Aya made the small noise as she puckered her lips up while extracting the nectar. "Did it!" she said happily, pulling the needle free. She had been rather proud of herself to puncture the rick sack on the flower with the first try. She was really getting better with this alchemy stuff! Aya wouldn't have the slightest clue how to extract nectar if her mother had told her to do it two years ago. With a cheerful smile on her face, Aya began to hum a song as she injected the nectar into its own glass vile to let sit and separate the heavy concentrate from the light liquid. Once the residue collected at the bottom, she would be able to use that to put into the enzymes. "La de da~" Aya sang as she scooted her chair down the counter to begin working on bringing out the correct enzyme for the antidote. She had never understood why the main ingredient for the poison would also be a main ingredient for the antidote. Her mother had explained it to her a few times, but she still hadn't really registered the thought in her mind. Aya just did as she was told and everything worked out fine. She trusted her mother's knowledge and had never questioned it. Of course, Aya had whined and complained about some things, but she always knew her mother told the truth and was highly intelligent.

Taking a small oil burner and a glass tube, Aya turned the heat to low and set everything up in their holders. The equipment seemed strange, but it was there to keep Aya from burning her fingers. If she were to just hold the glass tube over the flame, it would eventually heat up to the point where it burnt her fingers. The teen always followed safety procedures... when she remember what they were. There had been a few accidents when Aya really wasn't thinking and just did things on impulse. They had caused a few spills that still stained the floors of the lab.

As the venom in the glass tube began to heat up, Aya grabbed a small glass bottle of alcohol. It was used as a separator for the enzymes and would preserve the proteins that were needed to act as an antidote. The young girl's hands were steady and moved with precision and grace as she went about her work in the lab. Even though the room was dead silent and only the sound of the birds could be heard from outside, Aya's head was filled with thoughts. She was reciting the procedure for the antidote over and over in her head. Aya had always had a hard time focusing, got bored when listening to lectures, couldn't sit still in her desk at school. This is what Aya had grown up to be; someone who could do hands on jobs. When Aya was able to focus on pay attention to one thing, she completed tuned out the world and pay attention to where her eyes were directing her hands and what she was working on.

The fact that what she was working on could decide the life and death of her fellow comrades also made her work hard and diligently. Her mother had taught her that the poison that the transformed Orochi's made was something that was deadly to a normal person. When the Orochi's blood came in contact with the poison it caused a mutation, but when it came in contact with a regular human then it caused damage and eventually death. Any adult Orochi would have these poisonous sacks with the ability to give a sharp bite to their opponent. Since Aya didn't know the poison extraction technique, her squad along with the other squads would be required to have antidotes as well.

"Huu~" Aya sighed as she put her elbows on the counter and rested her small chin in the palm of her hands. This was the part that seemed to take forever. She wished that she could just extract the enzyme like she could stick a needle in the flower and pull out the nectar. Aya's blue eyes began to fade out of focus as she wandered into thought. The Orochi war would be the first mission that she, Kana, Maya and Baki would work on as a team. She was sure that they would work well together since Ichi was leading them. Even if Maya and Kana didn't get along, they would both respect Ichi. The Kage would be the glue that held them all together. Kana would work hard to make Ichi proud and Maya would do the same. That was something they all had in common. The thought of the entire squad having something in common made Aya smile. It was something they could all agree on and all work towards!

With that happy thought in mind, Aya clicked the sides of her feet against the bar stool while she watched the venom and alcohol slowly bubble. Reaching her hand up to the equipment, she lowered the tube closer to the flame. She guessed that it wasn't getting enough heat at the moment. More heat met quicker results! Aya wanted to finish this all up quickly, so she could get back to see what Kana and Maya were doing.

Bringing the tube closer to the flame was a good idea. The venom began to slightly boil just enough to separate the good parts. Just as that was done, so was the nectar! Aya popped up in her chair and scooted closer to the table. She turned off the burning and grabbed the tube with a cloth. The glass was extremely hot since it had been holding boiling liquids. Taking the venom, she poured it into a small glass bottle that would fit in the palm of a hand. This was special glass that wouldn't break from a normal blow or a fat man sitting on it. It was glass that was used out on the field during battles! Aya smiled as she took a baster and began sucking the top part of the nectar off of the top the vile. All that was left from the nectar was the residue that was needed for the antidote. Taking that bit, Aya poured it in with the venom very slowly. Sometimes there was more residue than needed. Too much of something in a recipe was never good. If there was more salt than flour in a cake, the reaction in the oven wouldn't be the same! The same could be said of the nectar and the snake enzyme, so Aya had to be careful.

While being extra careful to keep the portions even, her hand hadn't been to accurate with its poor. The fine residue concentrate from the flower poured all over the counter. "Gah!" Aya exclaimed as she grabbed the bottle that held the venom and tried to catch the nectar before it trickled onto the floor. Her aim would be off, but her reaction time was splendid! By quickly moving the mouth of the bottle, she was able to catch just the right amount of concentrate. "Yus~" Aya cheered with a bright smile as she held up the antidote. "La de da~" she sang while skipping over to the closet where the rest of the antidotes were lying. There was four antidotes ready to go now! That was just enough for Aya's squad. There was no way that Ichi would get poisoned. No one had ever defeated Ichi or laid a scratch on him! At least that's what Aya made out in her mind.

Walking back over to the counter, Aya looked at the nectar that wasn't high in concentrate. What could she do with that? It felt like a waste to just toss it in the garabage after all that work of getting it out. Picking up the baster that held the nectar, a distinct sweet smell came from it. Aya smiled and had just the thing in mind. "A perfume!" she said cutely, knowing that would be a wonderful gift to someone someday! Aya's home made perfume. It was splendid! Finding a bottle, Aya squirted the nectar in and put a cap on it. She would save it for later since she had priorities to take care of first!

Kumiko walked in through the doors to the lab, fanning herself with the only her polished hands. "Woo! I'm feeling a bit light headed here," She announced, walking up to Aya just as she finished up some weird potion. Kumiko really wasn't one to know much about alchemy, but she did know a thing or two about perfume. "Honey, if you make a good smelling perfume, I'd be more than willing to be it from you," Kumiko said, throwing her hip out to the side as she leaned up against the counter. "There just isn't anyone else in this village that appreciates the fine delicacies of being a woman!" Kumiko said to Aya with a sigh. "What are you doing baby girl?" Kumiko asked Aya with a little bob of her head. "Shouldn't you be off training with your little friends? I thought today was a training day! Tenko and Yuki can finish up those potions. I know how much you like being stuffed up in here," Kumiko said with a wink and before Aya could give her an answer, the spicy nurse turned her chin over her shoulder. "TENKO!" the woman called for the other nurse, who came bubbling in rather quickly. "You and Yuki are finishing these up right?" Kumiko asked her and then stood up with her hands on her hips. "You feelin alright?"

Tenko's face was tomato red and she clearly looked nervous. "I- I.." she stuttered and then let out a huge gasp of air. "I tried so hard not to doze off today, but for some reason I fell asleep and I'm very sorry! I hope Tenmoki-sensei doesn't find out! I've been trying so hard and I don't know how I fell asleep, I wasn't even feeling tired!" Tenko cried as her face turned redder and redder from lack of oxygen before she took in another breath. There was a moment of silence before she closed her eyes and walked over to the counter. "Hai... I'll be working on these until your departure," she said, going into the closet to grab the ingredients and get started.

Aya looked up when Kumiko walked into the room. "Hola~" Aya greeted her cheerfully as she came in talking on about things. "Definitely! I'll make the best perfume ever," Aya said cutely and then continued to listen to Kumiko talk and then giggle as Tenko came in. Tenko was Aya's favorite nurse since she was always so silly. At times she seemed more like Aya's age than an adult. "Thank you, Tenko! Bye, Kumiko!" Aya said with excitement as she went running off to re-join Ichi and the others. Now she was able to keep the date she had set for herself! Maybe she would be able to catch the end of Kana and Maya's spar together! With a bright smile on her face and optimistic glee shining around her, Aya skipped down the roads to the spar ring~

Shinichi burst through the clinic doors, nearly knocking the massive bamboo structures down in his haste. He found the nearest bed and unceremoniously dumped the injured boy, not caring whether that worsened his wounds. "YUKI-BAKA!" he roared, thrusting his head out into the corridors. When the quarrelsome woman didn't come after 5 seconds, he let his anger simmer for a second. The setting sun threw its dark red rays into the room like a blanket of blood as he pulled up a chair to look the kid over. A long chain of nefarious insect bites stood out immediately as these were much larger than normal stings. Shinichi laid a callused hand on the kid's forehead, expecting his skin to feel cold as with all other pale people. His own hand jumped back, shocked by how hot the kid was getting. He leapt to his feet and threw himself out into the corridor once more. Shinichi didn't remember whether Tenko or Kumiko took the night shift when Yuki was ungratefully missing from her station so he gruffly yelled out, "Nurse, this brat's fever is spiking. Get your a** in here!" Somewhere in the back of his mind, perhaps barely noticeably even to him, Shinichi wished Kumiko and her finer butt would show up.

Something -it could have been the scary screaming- warned Noburo to stay away from the rampaging Shinichi. A wave of dread passed over the gyrfalcon when she saw the sickeningly sterilized environment where she'd come closer with death than on the field. So, not particularly caring about the patient or wanting to get caught up in yet another Shinichi-Yuki feud, Noburo stretched out on the wide clinic roof and yawned. She had better things to be concerned about, like that reddish star, the first of a long series in the night. Then, she remembered they were supposed to go off to war in a few hours, but shrugged the foreshadow off. As long as she got to blow a few brains off, everything would be fine.
PostPosted: Mon May 12, 2008 7:27 am

"See you later, Kumiko!" Tenko said to the other nurse in the clinic before heading towards the doors. In her arms was baby Ayumi who was fast asleep and ready to go home for the night. She was always such a good baby when with Tenko, which the clutzy nurse was glad for. As she came closer to the doors a fiery and familiar man came bursting through the doors. Tenko jumped in surprise and squeezed Ayumi close to her as Shinichi went racing through the clinic with a boy in his arms. She knew that she should be bringing Ayumi home to see her mother before she left for a mission, but it seemed that the boy that Shinichi brought it was in desperate need of help. Setting Ayumi back down in the crib that they kept near the receptionist bed, Tenko nervously followed Shinichi's trail just in time to enter the room when he so rudely demanded that she get her a** inside. "U-Uhm, I'm here now," she said, stuttering in sheer fear of Shinichi as she went into a nearby cabinent to grab a fever reducing serum along with a syringe.

Kumiko followed in soon after, rather tense since she had heard Shinichi's authoritative voice. "By Bhudda-" Kumiko gasped as she viewed the various holes in the boy's skin from. She immediately rushed over to a station that had clean cloths and antibiotics for wounds. Getting a basin she filled it with warm water and dabbed the cloth in it, instantly beginning to clean up the wounds on the boy's arm that had been hit by dirt and could cause infection. Dabbing a cotton ball in the medicine, she put it up to the hole and began gently working at it. As she did so, her eyes caught sight of a small black bug within the hole. "AH!" she screamed, jumping back slightly. "They're in his flesh!" Kumiko said, walking back up to his arm and checking the other holes, lifting up his shirt to check then he saw that there were also spots where bugs were starting to burrow their way inside. "We need Tenmoki-sensei!" Kumiko said in a panic. The nurse didn't know much about the bugs of Shimagakure or of poisons and antidotes...

Coming in for the night shift since Yuki would be leaving for the mission on the Orochi's, Nao let out a small yawn as the doors shut behind him in the clinic. No one was at the front desk, so he let out a sigh. He was working with Kumiko tonight, so he would be the one doing most of the work. "Kumiko," Nao called out as he walked into the hallways of the clinic towards the nurse room where the woman was usually decorating her nails.

Hearing the familiar voice of the man, Kumiko ran to the door with wide eyes. "Nao-sensei! Get in here," she screamed in a panic which made the more knowledgeable and educated man book it to the room in which the small boy was being held. "There seems to be some type of bug eating into his body. They're digging deep, but his pulse seems fine, but he's breathing slowly," Kumiko said in a rush a words to the man.

As Nao came in, he took note of Shinichi and nodded towards him as if saying it was alright and he was here. Nao knew that Shinichi cared about the shinobi of Shimagakure in a way that most would not recognize, but Nao would never say a single word to anyone about it. Not many would believe him anyways. He listened to what Kumiko said and immediately activated his byakugan. He could see everything inside the boys body, including the infestation of these small black bugs. "There's a poison in his body. The beetles are actually helping him... They're eating the poison, but they're also eating at his chakra..." Nao said with a bit of concern. Being such a small boy, the Hyuuga knew that he wouldn't have a large supply of chakra. "We'll have to take out some of them that aren't battling the poison. Keep cleaning his wounds so they won't get infected. I don't want him getting a fever while trying to fight off this poison and adjust to these insects being inside him," Nao said as he too took up a cotton ball and began cleaning the wounds while removing some of the bugs with a tweezer. "Tenko, could you run and fetch his parents. They're the Aburame's. I'll need them to help me identify this bug," Nao told the woman as he worked painstakingly on the boy.

"Hai, sensei,"
Tenko said, rushing out of the room quickly and down the hallway.

Yuki was all geared up and ready for battle when she entered the Clinic. She had her brown attire on, which covered more parts of her body than her normal wear. The silver spear that was never seen around the village was strapped to her back and her hair was pulled tightly back in two vertical buns sitting on the back of her head. The woman was happy to see her daughter still lying in the crib at the receptionist desk. Walking over, Yuki leaned over to look down upon her bundle of joy. She was so peaceful and happy lying there like that. Yuki hoped that she would stay like that forever. "Tenko?" Yuki called out as she walked away from her daughter to see where the nurse that was suppose to be at the desk was.

While Tenko was rushing down the hallway and heading to the front doors, she heard the voice of her supervisor call out her her. "Ah! Yuki-sensei," she said, nearly out of breath. "There's a boy in the operation room who's been infected by a poison and some strange bugs. Nao-sensei is in there taking care of him, but I'm sure he wouldn't mind your help. Well, I think he has it under control. I have to go find the Auburame's, sensei. Please, excuse me!" The woman said in a jumble of words as she grabbed her light jacket and ran out of the clinic.

"If Nao is in there, I'm sure they have it under control. I'll look into it when I return from the Rice Country," Yuki said to Tenko just before the woman took off to find the Aburame's. She in fact had another task on her agenda. She was to get the antidotes that she, the nurses and the students prepared for the Orochi war. The poison of the white snake was strong and not something to think of carelessly. Not many of the genins had training with poisons, so having the antidotes was a crucial item. Goingin into the utility closet, Yuki grabbed the 8 viles that everyone had worked so hard to come up with. It wasn't nearly enough for everyone, but they had well-trained medical shinobi on hand and everyone would fine. Yuki just repeated that to herself.... With out bothering those in the operation room who were taking care of the poisoned boy, Yuki left the clinic, leaving a kiss on her daughter's forhead.

[Exit Yuki to Shoreline.]

[Exit Tenko to fetch Aburame's.]
