The Knight simply remained standing along the shoreline. He'd barely moved after that first kill. Nobody had come to defend the east side, 'long the port. And who'd blame them? The north was where the main forces were focused. Latent didn't seem to have enough of a fleet to contend with the bombardment from the sea, so they simply took it in stride as they held off the undead infantry.

A few ghouls had followed the Knight and taken care of port patrols and defenses long ago. The place was a ghost town now, or, ghost area, who cared about specifics. Nothing stirred, nobody breathed, the only life was the faint sounds of warfare that drifted from the north. Though, the Knight swore he could hear the obnoxious purr of an engine. He didn't spend long enough if casual society to discern car from truck from van from bike, but the sound was enough to peak his curiousity.

Flexing his hands, his eyes flared as the flowmetal gloves that armoured his hands, turned into a fierce set of claws. Gripping the hilt of his sword, he stepped into the middle of the road, falling backwards and sitting, one arm wrapped around a bent knee, as the other leg sat out straight. The armour 'round his neck would move upwards, forming a fierce kind of maw around his lower jaw, jutting out in front to give him a more animalistic appearance despite his pale lifeless skin.

Siat drove through whatever he entrance he found into Latent, hit a bit of rubble, flipped through the air and then had his quadbike blow up, sending him forty miles away from Latent.

Soon enough Joseph swung the doors open as wide as they could go. Clearly it wasn't for anything he was bringing. He still had the shotgun, casually resting on his shoulder, and nothing else really. He kind of wished he packed some explosives, but hey, you can't predict every need.

What he did do in the back of the truck soon became evident, or at least the truck started shaking. As Joseph cleared the entrance way the truck downright began to kneel and a large clumsily robotic leg came from the darkens. Soon another, and then the whole gigantic robotic monstrosity was visible: From the way the thing was painted in yellow and black you'd think the thing was a biped forklift. Course, with its large set of arms and shoulder mounted winch/hook combo, perhaps it was construction equipment. There was something strange about the way it moved, somehow it seemed all too aware for a fancy box mover.

Besides, if the thing couldn't kick a** why the hell would Joseph deploy it?

"Now, docks or gate HL?" He was clearly talking to a glorified bachoe, "That's the question."

The machine made no sound.

"I'll figure something out then."

Hugin
"I don't think so!"

As he said the words, he pulled the pin and tossed the frag towards the target as he approached. Of course, this wasn't an ordinary frag... it was a thermal detonation grenade. Basicly, if they couldn't be cut, they could be fried crispy.

See how you like this.

((I'm thinking along the lines of an Incendiary grenade, such as the AN-M14. If it's something more powerful describe it for me.))

The grenade landed directly in the target's backside before going off. With that it instinctively turned, it could have been a tactical manuever if the creature had anything resembling a brain, but it was doing nothing more than reacting to the pain from the chemical reaction that cooked it's backside. It writhed sideways across the road, effectively laying right in front of the path of the approaching cycle.

A fountain of smoking sludge and acid burnt the creature, turning gloopy skin into a hard black crust that broke from the body. The creature howled, jetisoning the injured portion of it's flesh that was hurting, before the reaction spread could cook it's core. The jetisoned part melted, snapping, bubbling and foaming hystericaly. The pile of flesh released a plume of intensely toxic fumes before it withered into a crispy lump, consisting of sulfuric acid, methane, and chlorine gas.

As soon as it turned, so did Evan.

The ejected part of the slug's body barely missed him, and the cloud of fumes was quickly left in the dust. At his present speed, if the wound was still wide open, he could do that again.

And this time, he'd make it stick.

Come on... just a bit closer...

He gunned the engine once again, moving ever closer toward the mindless beast. Once he arrived, he pulled another incendiary from his coat, pulled the pin, and tossed it towards the area where the wound was inflicted.

If it landed anywhere near, and the newfound crater that was made was still there, then this would be over quite soon.

If not, he always had one more... but only one more.

This has to work...

Shortly after Evan turned the reduced beast attempted to dig its way to safety, pushing itself into the ground and tunneling with all it's remaining strength. With a combination of acid and strength it could eat through the soft soil at a rate of 12km per hour. But it was surely to late for such a retreat, and when the incindiary grenade hit it was to better effect because the beast had trouble jetisoning it and moving away. It was trapped. If it had stayed above ground it could have survived, though much reduced, but now it was trapped. It had just saved Evan the need of using the final grenade.

A sonic howl released a vibration that split the earth above the slug as a fountain of sulfuric sludge burst forth and spread boiling slug parts across a 1 kilometer radius. The plume of poison gas wasn't visible, but it was massive, if the prevailing winds took it into Latent, many would die. But the slug was dead, beyond regeneration.

The undead eye in the sky recorded the battle, and all the information was sent to Yarneth for evaluation.

One problem, it's twin would shortly reach the sewers of Latent to feed off the garbage and filth it sensed in the city's underbelly. Filth and death was nector to an undead slugs. It would grow quickly, steadily, until the sewers could no longer contain it, or until another force gained enough control to prod it into an attack on the world above.

"Hell yeah!"

He pumped his fist into the air as he drove by, quickly moving his bike out of the blast raidius. He had heard of these damn things and how they could produce a mix of acid and enough deadly toxins to make a nuclear fallout seem like a pleasant daydream.

Thus, he was ready for the next step.

I can't get all cocky now... gotta clear this junk from the sky.

One would think that the prevailing winds would indeed cast the toxins toward the city... if one forgot an important factor that served to halt the poison. Evan was an Elemental as well as a fighter- he could control the winds and make them dance to his tune.

Thus he focused his energy and spread his aura through the air, taking control of the massive potential that was within the winds. He then redirected the cloud of poison gases... towards the now abandoned docks... which in turn headed towards the ships he saw in the distance.

Hn... let's see you fire those cannons now.

With him outside of any effective range of attack, it would be a damn-near flawless tactic... And he didn't forget about the one underground, either. He had a little something for that slug once he got around to it. Then again, if his backup came soon... he wouldn't have to handle it at all.

[Chase of the Highway - Advent Children OST]

The loud roar of an engine ripped through the atmosphere, even as a black and red blur went by Evan.

Yellowed eyes narrowed behind the goggles, even as he increased the speed of his harley to it's maximum, finally gaining behind what looked to be an all out invasion force.

Even when Sunstrike had leapt downwards and clung onto Vahn, he'd never slowed down; the bike only jerking slightly to the side to accomodate for the added weight.

Vahn had never uttered a word, only smiling softly to himself.

Now...

Using one single hand to maintain balance and speed, Vahn's right hand would reach behind him to his waist, grabbing the handle of Efreet. The transformation was fluid, having long since gotten accustomed to the blade.

Hefting it with one solid grip, he let the end drag out along the floor, sparks starting up widly as he drove forward into the mess.

Tch...

He briefly saw the flash of black and red, recognizing it for what it was. The only thing it did though was make him chuckle and shake his head. His concentration was still focused on the pirate ships, his aura undeterred as he guided the toxins toward the pirates.

Don't get yourself killed, idiot. You just won, after all.

((Just so everyone's on the same page, my undead can be auto-slaughtered... either by NPCs or other characters. They're hardly strong, except for the golems.))

Piling through the breached gate, the undead continued to rampage unchallenged. For any citizens that happened to fall prey to them, their bodies would be snatched by wizards stepping through Dimension Doors and quickly vanishing. That probably explained why the fireballs had stopped raining down on them.

Darshendros watched the battle from afar, way back in the confines of his keep, deep in the wastes of the Northernlands. It seemed he had prepared a little too well, and that the first wave was doing a lot better than he had expected. He was thinking they'd be easily vanquished by the defenders atop the walls and such, which would have to be worn down more by the second, then the third. Well, better to overestimate the enemy than otherwise. He sent his commands to his general through the floating scrying image.

"Pull back your remaining forces and leave the necromancers controlling the ones currently engaged, as well as those designated for corpse pickup. Shut the Gate as soon as you're all through."

* * *

The General had been staring off for a moment, ignoring the sounds of battle off in the distance, beyond the treeline. After that moment, The General nodded its helmed head, raised its frosty sword, and shouted out a command. The remaining undead, formed up in their respective attack waves, suddenly turned around and began shuffling through the open portals, as commanded by their masters. With the exception of the necromancers who were jumping through Dimensions Doors and coming back with bodies, as well as the ones keeping the first wave of undead under control, the army was pulling back. The General and the two liches maintaining the portal were the last ones to exit, and then the portals winked out of existence.

"Let's get our asses to the northern gate." He began to walk in that general direction, "There's nothing we can do against a ship and nobody who can do something can get in at the moment. So we either push em back or get crushed."

The robot understood and began to lumber towards the north gate. The last time it was deployed it was fighting alongside an undead army much like this.

Then Joseph remembered one thing about the map he examined. Instantly he shot for his phone and began to send a voice message.

"Allen, it's Joseph again." He began after dialling, "I'm stuck in Latent. Yeah, the one that's about to look like a messed up warcraft three custom map. Anyway, all the fighters are still returning from HoH and I'll need help bad. So, if you're feeling generous, I've got a plan. First you can call 555-1254, ask for Antonio and say J-Rock told you to call. He'll send over any vehicle you need to get here, any supplies too. Though I don't think you need help with that. Oh yeah, the vehicle will probably just be you're regular crap, maybe outfitted for street racing."
"Now here's the important part. You can either try and break through the breached north gate, or you can try and sneak in using the train tracks. I don't think the walking dead have gotten there yet."
"So yeah. I'll be at the frontlines of the north gate, trying to salvage this pathetic attempt at defence. Lock and load my friend."

And on that he returned the phone to it's rightful waiting place. Now all he had to do was catch up with the Heavy Lifter and hope the front wasn't overrun.
