He hadn't even thought about bad weather. He looked to the sky and saw not very many clouds, well, at least he didn't have to worry about that. He hoped. clouds were weird sometimes. They could roll in without warning.

She too was looking at the sky, noticing a few small clouds. Weather was always difficult to read, and if she counted how many storms she had been caught in when there was nothing but a few clouds before hand, she would count three. She turned to him and asked, “So what do you think about the weather?”

"I think it will hold for the night. May give us showers in the morning." He said trying to think on how fast more clouds might form while they slept. Though, he would have to sleep light to hope nothing bad would come while they slept.

She glanced up at the sky. “If you say so…” She tried to keep the worry out of her voice but she was sure that it had showed. A sudden yawn over took her and now she felt incredibly sleepy. “I think I might go to bed.” She smiled a lazy smile up at him. I guess she got sleepy from all the adventure today.

He laughed as he watched her become more sleepy. "Well, before you go to sleep, we've got to get in that tree." he said with a smile. "Shall I help you, or would you want to get up on your own?" he asked her.

Her eyes were slowly closing, but she managed to say, “I’ll walk, it can’t be that far.” She got up and started to walk in a random direction, fighting back the yawn that was building up.

He kind of pushed her in the right direction of the tree so she didn't stray off. He knew she was tired, but wasn't going to force help her up if she didn't want it. "Just be careful while climbing it." He said with a smile. He wondered if he'd be this good with his own kids when he had some.

She gave him a lazy nod and slumped in the direction he was pushing her. “Will you tell me when we get to the tree?” It had gotten a lot darker or something because she was having some trouble seeing what was around her. Plus the canopy of trees above didn’t help with her vision issues.

The tree was pretty much right in front of them, but he understood that night time made it harder to see. "Of course" He said with a smile and let her walk a few steps before he started following her and then stopped, and stopped her so she didn't run into it. "Here we are."

She nodded and looked up at the towering shadow above her. It then occurred to her, that she probably wouldn’t be able to climb it or anything. “Do we have to go up into the tree?”

They didn't have to, but it was what would make him feel better. Though, he wasn't about to force her up into the tree. He shook his head. "No, we don't." He'd just have to keep an eye opened while they slept. Not that it'd be easy, but he could always try.

She got the vibe that he would rather be up in the tree, then down on the ground. Her sleepy mind registered that it would probably be safer. “I guess I can try, but no promises.” Her bleary eyes moved up to look at the closet branch and she jumped, a low jump at that, and tried to catch hold of it. She didn’t quite make it, if you know what I mean.

"You don't have to, you are exhausted and should rest. You can sleep right there at the bottom on the tree." He said as he flopped down on his but then slowly lowered himself to lay down next to the tree. He smiled at her.

She looked up at him, a little dazed. Even laying down he was bigger than her. She nodded and lay down next to him, closing her eyes and trying to shut out the sounds of her surroundings.

He placed a paw protectively over her as he smiled looking down at her. He wouldn't let anything happen to her. She was all alone with no one to be her parent. He licked her ear and then just waited for her to fall asleep before he'd drift off.
