Raine had to admit that Charlie and Christian were cute, her cheeks turning a soft shade of pink at Kat's suggestion that she go shopping soon if she wanted to get one while he was still on the market. The last couple of guys she'd decided to go after hadn't worked out the way she'd hoped they would. One seemed to have feelings for her mortal enemy, and the other flirted with everything that had breasts and all their limbs.

The group found the dorms, staking their claims to their respective rooms, while the brunette left the telekinetic and shapeshifter to start unpacking her own things. She turned on some music to get the process going, though she didn't get very far before the entire process was completely derailed by the unexpected.

Felix surprised her, planting a big one on her out of nowhere and then disappearing from the room as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Feebly, she corrected him before he left, though she couldn't in good conscience let those be the last words that passed between them after such an event. As the brunette managed to pull herself up from the floor, it became readily apparent to her that she wasn't going to be able to let it go. She wasn't "cool," she wasn't "suave" - his was the type of event that she would obsess over for days, trying to decipher what it mean, if anything. And with Felix, she was never really sure if he was being serious or if she was the brunt of some joke.

Slowly, but surely, the brunette worked up the nerve to approach the speedster's door, knocking on it and asking if the two of them could talk. What she had not expected, however, was for him to answer the door and grab ahold of her wrist, pulling her into the room and pushing her back against the door. He'd been expecting her, anticipating this moment. How did he know she'd come to the door? "I-" she started, only to have him press another kiss to her lips, effectively silencing her. All of the things she'd planned to say to him swep from her mind as their liplock continued, the firefly not resisting as he lifted her from her feet, asking if they still need to talk.

"We can talk about it later," she whispered back to him with a smile, kissing him again as he ushered the two of them toward the bed.

---------- One Month Later ----------

A month in Canada had proved...more fun than she'd anticipated. True, she was a bit behind on her reading list, but she and Felix had found plenty of ways to pass their time underground. She still made him study once in awhile, but she hadn't been as much of a stickler for it. At least she didn't have a roommate that she had to form a cover story for, the brunette waking early so she had plenty of time to get back to her own room and clean up while almost everyone else was still asleep.

Scott Summers briefed them on their next mission, as the Alphas gathered before him. Siren was going to be taking them out, just like old times, and at least this time it was more of a rescue mission than a real military operation. Raine always liked those better. Their team leader took the stage once he was finished, instructing them to get what they needed from the armory and then splitting them up into smaller groups to execute hte game plan. The firefly listened carefully as she went through the plan from start to finish, paying particular attention to the section that included her codename. She would be clearing the yard, which was fine with her.

Looking around to the group as they were adjourned to take care of their final preparations, the brunette took a deep breath. The whole thing was sickening, but for once she was glad that they were going in to do some good. Dimitri spoke up as the group dispersed to get ready, making a light-hearted joke about whether this was the first time they were watching each other's back so closely. "Well, it probably is for Aurelie and I," she joked back, tucking a few strands of brown hair behind her ears.

Hazel eyes glanced over at Leo, slightly disappointed that she wouldn't be working with him on this mission. They had worked together the last couple of missions and she had grown to respect him as a leader. She wasn't one to question the higher ups' judgment, however. Besides, she got to work with Aurelie, which was nice. No doubt Kat would be joining them as soon as she could - those girls were inseparable. Not that she wouldn't welcome the company on a mission - that girl really knew what she was doing.

Blake jutted out his chin good-naturedly, rubbing the barely visible stubble there when Tara talked about his chiseled jawline. "You think so, hmm?" He asked, clearly teasing. He broke into outright laughter when she said she'd start misplacing her clothes, the sound rich as the gold buried in the black hills of South Dakota. "I'll keep that in mind, little dumplin'." He said with a grin. During their conversation, Blake had suggested they'd find entertainment, and Tara immediately fell to innuendo, but the cowboy offered another solution, leaving the decision to the geokinetic.

"Sure thing." The Texan agreed, pressing onward through the halls and into the elevator. Dimitri joined them there, speaking of his concern regarding his inevitable boredom, but Tara snorted and chose to be candid of what she thought of the whole matter. Blake barely suppressed a laugh with a cough to clear his throat, but he doubted it fooled anyone in the little metal box.

Instead, they reverted back to the topic of Alex's plane ride, which had the poor girl blushing furiously. Dimitri faulted him of the more delicate wording, but he was quickly corrected by the cowboy explaining how it is a gentleman's duty to make a lady more comfortable. Tara instructed their fellow companion to take a page out of his book, and Blake's humility got the best of him. Blue eyes sought the floor as he smiled sheepishly, mutedly shaking his head. "Just how my mama raised me." He murmured, still grinning when he looked up. "And lucky genetics."

Turning to the other male, he shrugged. "But wriggling your way into their heart isn't the best practice for your lifestyle." The two junior X-men men were very different in their philosophies - Dimitri was fine with hopping from fling to fling, essentially partying; Blake was the type of man to take home to meet the parents. And he was right - most nice guys finished last.

He'd even tried similar philosophies to magmakinetic's, only for women to eventually tell him they saw through it - he wasn't that type of guy. And the fling would end soon after. If he was honest with himself, they were right, and had done him a favor.

Dimitri's observation about attraction first, personality second was on point too, but the cowboy merely shook his head rather than admonishing anything he had to say. Rather, he enjoyed sitting front seat to Tara and Dimitri's antics.

"It'll open your eyes." He assured Alex of the corruption when the three of them tried to give her a confidence boost. Really, if the girl weren't so awkward, she wouldn't have much to worry about in the social department. She was blond, pretty... and thus far a nice person. Obviously she just needed to get out a little more, and let go of some of those inhibitions. "Make you want to live a little more... and maybe even get you to say bad words." The cowboy's flashed a pearly smile at that, blue eyes widening with a mock surprise as he teased shy girl.

As they stepped off of the elevator, the blond wondered where she should choose, and her quiet tones gave cause for concern. Alex clearly had an issue with self esteem, and it at some point broke Tara, who assured her all she needed was a little backbone. She waved the girl off to get her room with a sigh, and Blake chuckled when they were alone. "Miffed?" He asked with his typical good nature. For a moment, he sobered and tilted his head in contemplation as his gaze followed Alex's form down the hall. "Was she raised by nuns? I mean... she is French, right?"

Otengam hadn't been so sure about the palm reader system when he returned, but he was easy enough to reason with. "I hope it'll change weather... show rain and such sometimes." He noted for the first time, actually paying attention to the holograms. Before they'd merely been a presence; nothing much to focus on. It was easier to believe the lie if he didn't take note.

The alpha male had asked them where the gym and danger room were located, and Alex bounced up to them again at about the same time. Blake searched Tara for her input on directions to the gym. "Chivalry applies to women. He's a man... should be able to take care of himself without an escort." He whispered back teasingly. "Besides, you're the one with the T&A he's interested in. Second favorite, even."

Beast's announcement tapped through then, stating the teams were getting new uniforms. "Sounds like fun." Blake remarked lightly, not all that interested. As much as he'd held up his facade, he needed some quiet time - the argument with his mother didn't seem so far away when the fighting had stopped, and he needed to figure out just what to do.

T/S

It had been a month since all of the teams had reformed underground; for Blake, it'd been a busy few weeks off campus. It was an election year, which had always brought him home for the typical photos and interviews with the press, where a PR attorney fed him his lines. He'd not wanted to leave, what with his best friend in shambles... but she'd seemed like she had been getting better, and he'd promised her she was only a phone call away.

To everyone watching, the Tanners appeared to be the perfect conservative family - Blake had even been listed as one of the top most eligible bachelors in the Lonestar State. Behind closed doors, turmoil wreaked havoc between them. His mother wanted very much to be the voice of reason, of peace for the two men in her life... But she soon found it like trying to stop an immovable object from crashing into an unstoppable one.

It was expected for Blake to attend Georgetown or Yale in the coming year, to follow the steps of hhis political family and become a lawyer. With so much emphasis on the Tanners, the issue kept surfacing... the molecular manipulator found it more than frustrating that his parents were using the election to their own ends in steering their son in a direction he didn't see for himself... his parents found his resistance disappointing. The final straw had been when they'd paid a reporter to ask which school he preferred, etching in the requirement for him carry on the Tanner legacy.

He'd answered, but the quiet, vehement fury that fueled within him had been hard to stop when the cameras stopped rolling. When he'd finally gotten back to Canada, the cowboy stewed in the storm of his family's making, seeing as few people as possible to keep himself from appearing surly and wholly unkind.

The one person he had seen, had been just after the announcement that the teams would be going out soon. Forge. Given how many pictures had been taken, how many news casts had plastered his picture on the silver screens in America, he needed an image inducer. As angry as he remained with the people he shared his name with, he was still too good of a person to ruin them by naming himself a mutant vigilante.

He'd also received his new uniform - striped with crimson instead of blue... He attributed the delay of his transfer to the fact that he'd not been around to remind Summers that Bella was now aware of where he wanted to be, so he'd made no fuss about it, figuring that his best friend would pick up that battle if too much time passed.

When they were called down, it didn't take the Texan long to get dressed and meet his team. He'd been ahead of a few people, and listened carefully to the mission, noting how it was being stressed that they needed to avoid violence. He almost snorted, but repressed the urge. The Alphas would have been better for a delicate matter... Omegas tended to be more destructive... But this sort of thing was tailor-made for him... He'd done this exact sort of thing many times, when a simple meeting had gotten a kid scared.

Glancing about the room to choose his partners, he inwardly winced. Despite being an Omega for the better part of a year now, he'd scarcely gotten to know many of them. Given his recruiting new mutants to the academy, helping Bella with her problems and post-break up madness, and maintaining his public image, he'd not really had the opportunity. Of the people in the room, he knew who he didn't want to work with... and he'd start from there.

Walking up to Charlotte, he tried for his best smile and a warm handshake. "Hello, Miss. I don't think I've had the pleasure of speaking to you at length." He said, finding it hard to fall out of the role as the politician's son and back into himself. "I'd like to make up for some lost time, if you would be so inclined." His accent felt just a hint thicker from all the time he'd spent at home, but he doubted the redhead would notice the difference. "Care to join me for this mission?"

Kerrigan and Roland made their way down to the dorm levels from the Infirmiry, the redhead grinning slightly as he pointed out where his room was. She remarked that he'd picked a quiet area, but it likely wouldn't stay that way for long, to which he responded that he would make sure that it did. He put himself at her disposal for moving, the redhead taking advantage of the fact that they were alone for the moment to steal a kiss.

Unfortunately, their solitude was interrupted by a PMSing Peyton, who stormed towards them and literally blew them away in her anger. The redhead tried to shove Roland out of the way before she felt her feet leave the ground, slamming into the wall down the hallway. As soon as she got to her feet again, she confronted the blonde, assigning her danger room sessions as punishment for using her powers against her own teammates.

The blowhard's response might have sent others over the top, but Kerrigan was able to remain calm, forcing herself to smile despite the girl's obvious testing of her patience. The redhead tried to warn her that it wouldn't be in her best interests to stand her up, in the hopes that the angry girl would take the hint. Instead, she spat back at the girl's relationship, the redhead taking a deep breath and simply letting the girl walk away.

He assured her that he was alright as she went to check on him once more, the redhead smiling softly as he suggested that maybe Cissa would do something about another one of their own going crazy. Beast called, asking for volunteers to check out their new uniforms, but the couple decided not to take him up on the offer. After all, Kerrigan still needed to stake her claim to a room.

----- Time Skip -----

After spending a month in the new base, Kerrigan had fallen into a routine. Morning workouts, breakfast, studies, lunch, training in the afternoons, dinner with her friends and then her training sessions with Peyton. The girl had sought to test her by not showing up to the first session, then showing up late to the following sessions. It was part of the reason that her one week of punishment was still ongoing, but at least the girl was showing up, and showing some real progress in the Danger Room.

She felt Roland get up before she opened her eyes, smiling as he planted a kiss on her forehead and left a cup of coffee for her on the nightstand. "Bye," she called after him sleepily as he left to head back to his own room, her hands swimming back through her bedhead as she looked around the room. Sipping her coffee as she made the bed, pulled out her clothes for the day and skimmed through the morning's news on her computer, she eventually grabbed a quick shower and got ready for the day.

It was than that she heard Cissa's voice chime through the comms, calling the Omegas to gather for their next mission. This time they were meeting in the Armory, which seemed a little out of place. Pulling on a pair of down brown boots, the redhead pulled her hair into a ponytail before heading down to the Armory. She was never one for being late - while she wasn't a full-fledged leader of the team, she liked to lead by example. Plus, her blonde bestie would kill her if she started slacking.

After everyone arrived, Emma started the briefing, explaining that their mission was to extract some mutants who were being pursued by the MRD. They would be approaching the twins at a shopping center in the hopes of bringing them in. Kerrigan felt comfortable with the mission itself, but understood the blonde's pointed gaze at their group as a whole. Honestly, it seemed like a better mission for a select few of them, but she wasn't the one callin the shots. Besides, with Sentinels involved, she felt they would be grateful for the numbers if things went bad.

At that point, they were instructed to split up into small groups between two and four, green eyes moving around the group as people started to pair up. Green eyes turned to Roland from across the room, giving him a small smile before eyeing some of the newer recruits. Of course, she'd want to team up with her bestie and her closer friends, but at the same time she knew Cissa would want the more senior of them to sprinkle themselves amongst the less tested. That left her sights falling to Christian and Charlie, the redhead approaching the two roommates with a pleasant smile.

"Hey, you guys mind if I tag along with you?"

The redhead decided to deliver luggage with Christian and Charlie, leaving the rest of the group behind. Charlotte promised that she would protect them, to which Charlie remarked that it was good to ave someone get their backs. She offered him a playful wink in response - someone would have to take care of them amongst a sea of raging hormones.

It didn't take long for them to pass a group of ladies heading towards the dorms, Kat seizing the opportunity to challenge her new friend to a game of tag. A grin spread across her features as she stood back and watched the interaction happen, joking with him that he didn't seem to have a hard time making friends. They joked about the girl's legality, the redhead feeling it her duty to put his mind at ease, given their previous conversation.

The topic of conversation turned to her team affiliation and codename, which she was more than happy to provide. Turning the question back on them, she listened intently as Christian introduced himself and his companion, confirming that they were also on the Omegas and asking what she would prefer to be called. "You can call me any of the above, really," she joked back to him, the group finally reaching the elevator. Charlie asked her about her nickname, to which the redhead had to laugh slightly.

"You know, I get that a lot. Most people just assume it's something stupid and don't even ask." Pushing the button on the elevator as they waited, she continued, "Skadi is the Norse goddess of bowhunting and the like. I grew up hunting with my parents, and am a pretty good shot with a bow myself, so it kind of fits. Plus, everything else I could come up with seemed a little...generic." Charlotte was anything but generic.

On their way down, Charlotte suggested that they keep the fact they weren't a fan of the Bieber to themselves when making this next round of deliveries, to which the boys made a pact to kill each other in such an event. She didn't doubt his supposed scare tactics, though she'd be lying if she said she weren't slightly curious about them.

---------- Time Skip - One Month Later ----------

In their first month underground, Charlotte had been surviving. She and Lyn decided to room together, despite some of her better judgment, but in the end she was happy to be spending some time with her sister again. It was nice to see her thriving on the Alphas, making good friends and growing a little more independent. Charlotte had been working on building some of her team relationships, as well as training with her powers. Given her wrap sheet of massive screw ups on the last mission, which had also been her first, she didn't want the same thing to happen again.

It was clear that she wasn't really a morning person when the Omegas were called to a meeting in the Armory and she was barely getting going. Grabbing one of her pillows, the older twin sat up with a yawn, throwing the pillow at her still sleeping sister as the Alphas were also called to a meeting for their next mission. "Come on, get up. We're being summoned," she groaned to the girl, throwing her covers back and getting mobile. They were ordered to show up in street clothes, which for her meant skinny jeans underneath flat, lace up boots and a plain t-shirt. Grabbing her leather jacket as she headed into the bathroom for a quick brush, the twin paused at the doorway.

"Be careful out there, today. I expect a full report when we get back tonight." Her tone was almost cold, but it would be evident from her facial expression that she was speaking more out of concern for her sister. Charlotte had always felt the need to protect the girl, even when it wasn't necessarily needed (or welcomed). With that, she gave her sister a small wave before heading towards the briefing, which she arrived to just in time.

Emma and Cissa explained that they would be trying to track down two siblings on the run from the MRD in a local shopping center. Everyone started to group up as soon as the briefing ended, the sharpshooter smiling momentarily when she caught sight of Charlie and Christian. Briefly, she thought about recruiting them for her group, but they were snatched up by Kerrigan, and then she heard another voice, smooth as buttermilk, approach her from behind. She turned to see Blake, whom she'd seen but not really interacted with much since her bump up in the junior team rankings. A smile spread across her features, not just because of his eloquence, but his accent certainly helped. He probably heard that a lot.

"Well, I'd be delighted, Sir," she responded with a slight nod of her head as he officially asked her if he'd like to join her for the mission. "That accent...Texan? I'm from Tennessee myself, so I fancy myself a bit of a connoisseur when it comes to Southern charms. It's such a little thing, but I miss the twang, I won't lie." A lighthearted laugh escaped her, the redhead hoping she hadn't embarrassed him too much. Some country folk were more sensitive about their accents than others - Charlotte loved them.

Mutation: Geokinesis
Alpha
Location: New Facility - Alkalai Lake (Hallways to Lab then Time Skip to War Room)

Tara smiled sweetly as Dimitri attempted to throw her comment back at her, raising her hands and gently wiggling her fingertips in his direction, "No calluses here. No need, really." He thought he was so smooth, but the truth of the matter was that she would always be a step ahead. Whether he admitted it or not, he liked the attention she gave him, and the banter. She was something he would never have, and everyone knows that the chase is most of the fun.

The brunette did her best to create a teaching moment for the magmakinetic, pointing out the qualities in Blake that made him a desirable date. The Texan, humble as always, looked down to the floor with a soft shake of his head, complimenting his mother and his genetics. "Ah! And he loves his momma. Seriously, Cowboy, is there anything about you that isn't perfect?" The brunette did her best to imitate his accent when she referred to his "momma," but it just wasn't as cute as when he did it.

The magmakinetic was at least humble enough to admit that he was beat in the accent department, though he argued with her on his level of gentility. Tara almost rolled her eyes when he joked about having so many doors yet to open for her, a lighthearted chuckle escaping her as he attempted to save himself from the Texan's personality jab. Of course, the brunette could tell that the boy was kidding around - well, kind of kidding around. She stayed silent on the matter, however, choosing not to come to his defense. Where would be the fun in that?

"Hope you remember those sundresses fondly, because in this weather it's turtlenecks and blue jeans all the way," she shot back at him, refusing to fall into the trap he attempted to set for her. Brown eyes glided over his form cooly before turning to the elevator that finally arrived, the group getting onboard and taking it down to the dorm levels.

Once they disembarked, they discussed rooms, Tara encouraging Alex to take one of the rooms next to a new guy, only to have the little blonde politely turn her down. There was something about her that rubbed the geokinetic the wrong way when she insisted that men didn't want to talk to her. Blake jumped in as well, assuring her that someone wanted to corrupt the French girl, though it was clear that the blonde was hesitant. She seemed to be hesitant about everything. Blake assured her that the corruption would open her eyes, and maybe even get her to say some bad words.

"Let's baby step it to the bad words. She couldn't even say boobs without blushing, I'd say there is plenty of work to be done in the corruption department before we get there," she joked, though the blonde continued to act as if she were an alien nun that knew nothing of the ways of the world. In a move that was fairly uncharacteristic of her, the brunette kind of snapped, insisting that the girl was going to grow a backbone (if it was the last thing that Tara did) before dismissing her to go pick her room.

Blake watched the girl go pick a room, turning to her and attempting to confirm that the blonde was french. An exasperated sigh left her, shoulders rising and falling, "I- I just don't even know any more."

After Dimitri had picked his room, he came back to complain about the process, to which Tanner stepped up with an explanation that it was actually easier than it had been before. The magmakinetic mused that he was becoming homesick quicker than he had expected, to which she could only raise her eyebrows slightly. "Dear god, you've been here all of five minutes. Please tell me we aren't going to find you curled up in the fetal position on the floor crying tomorrow morning."

Otengam asked where the gym was located, the brunette catching Blake's eye and laughing at his comments on chivalry. She leveled a playful slap on his shoulder when he mentioned the magmakinetic had asked her because he was interested in her particular brand of T&A, giggling softly as they were approached. Agreeing to show him the way, she started walking with a simple motion for him to follow her.

Beast's announcement that he was seeking volunteers was a somewhat welcome distraction, in that it gave her something to do aside from go to the gym with the Alpha's muscle head. She'd offered to show him the way, anticipating what excuse she was going to have to give him to avoid being trapped there. He decided to come along with her to the Labs to check out their new gear, which there was nothing she could do about, but she'd be lying if she said she didn't mind the company and attention. At least he was entertaining to be around, unlike a lot of the stiffs around the new base. Alex decided to join them as well, announcing that it would be nice to get more familiar with their new base in the process.

It wasn't a bad idea. The brunette led them to the labs, where their resident blue fur ball explained the concept of their new uniforms and the pocket dimension. She had to admit that it was a cool concept, and thus she was the first to volunteer, replicating his movement to less than desirable results.

For every inch of her skin covered by fabric, there was another inch exposed. Rather than be embarrassed, it was her instinct to cut a joke about it, glancing at Dimitri as he stepped up to be the next one. His uniform went on without a hitch, a look of shock no doubt overtaking her features when he didn't make some sort of sexist comment regarding her attire. Pressing her thumb against her shoulder once more, the "uniform" receded into the pocket dimension once more, her attentions taken by Alex when she also needs to have no trouble with her new uniform.

"Alright, Doc, now I feel like it really was personal," she joked before trying one more time. Before she left this room, she was going to get this pocket dimension to work.

-x- TIME SKIPPIN' -x-

Tara gathered in the War Room with the other Alphas, paying dutiful attention as their next mission was explained to them. To be honest, the brunette was just excited to go above ground again - while she was dealing with the fact of their "new" situation, it still wasn't easy for her. Every waking moment was a fight against flashbacks to being a rotting corpse surrounded by earth. She could constantly feel the weight of the earth pressing against the walls all around them. It once would have been comforting to her. Their excursion into Halloweentown had changed that.

Siren stepped forward to finish the briefing, splitting them into two groups to take on the camp. Her name was excluded from the named group, which placed her with the other rejects under Rossi. She glanced at him with a smirk, arms folding over her chest as they were dismissed to see to their final preparations before heading out. The geokinetic didn't need a weapon from the armory - she was far deadlier with pebbles and chunks of earth than she ever would be with a blade.

Passing Dimitri as he made a joke of sorts to Aurelie and Raine, the brunette rolled her eyes slightly. Their electrokinetic at least had a response for him - she wouldn't be around to protect the ladies since they were in different groups, but she had faith the ladies would keep him in line.

Gabriel tried to defend himself by lumping his person with the rest of the human population. Aurelie laughed when he said everyone was slow and indecisive and shook her head. "It might also have something to do with being tongue-tied around three pretty girls too." She teased with a wink, softening Kat's words without trying. "Many guys get flustered around these two." Aurelie said, hooking a thumb back at Kat and Raine. She left herself out of the mix, not for lack of self-esteem, but because she did not want to force him to see her in that light.

Raine commented on the fact that he had actually sounded cohesive through several sentences, and the telekinetic fought the instinct to snicker at the boy's expense. "Either he's getting used to us, or we're losing our touch."

For a moment, she sobered when the conversation turned to who she fancied - something that she was certain Raine could guess, and Kat knew too well. Her bestie pulled her closer, commanding her to remain optimistic. Leo had been gone for a full month with no word. "How will he find us?" She asked, worry naturally lacing her tone. They'd moved with no note, no message for the animal mimic. He'd promised to come back... But he'd return to an empty mansion.

She knew that the shape shifter was not overly fond of Leo, but neither had wanted to go into details when she'd asked about their relationship. Her saying that he was passable on the field was the highest comment she could give him, and Aurelie nodded in agreement. While she still worried, she had to take Kat at her word. A genuine smile returned when she promised to hunt him down and drag him back. "I dragged him out of the lake before he left... He wouldn't be happy about me doing it again." She chuckled at the memory, but even then, she knew he'd leave the X-men. He'd been upset that he'd been expected to stay.

"But between the two of us, he couldn't possibly refuse."

As they passed a group of people, Kat flirted with a guy she didn't recognize, and then the shapeshifter suggested to their resident sparkplug that she should go after his friend by saying he was attractive. Raine agreed, but there was a bit of hesitance in her voice.

"More than cute..." Aurelie emphasized by pretending to fan herself off with her hand, as though she were a southern belle in the 1800's. "You should get you some." She encouraged with a grin, thinking that a new boy might be just what her electric friend needed to get Felix off of her brain.

She laughed outright at the thought of what Kat would do if she caught someone in their lingerie drawer. "I would hope that they'd know better by now." She said, only able to think of one name that might be so foolish to try.

They made it down to the proper floor, and set out to find suitable rooms. Of course, she'd be bunking with her favorite shapeshifter again; it'd not even crossed her mind that they could have separate rooms. They'd claimed an entire bedroom as a closet and Aurelie quickly set to work with the normally arduous task of unpacking.

Aurelie shrugged when Raine said she preferred the old-fashioned way of putting her stuff away. "If you say so..." The telekinetic said, not entirely convinced. "But I'll check in on you in just a few." She assured, figuring that she'd relent when she say how easy having a hundred invisible hands made it.

Felix popped into their room in usual fashion - his mood not yet sullied from their rather amusing plane ride up to Canada. Gabriel offered to set up a camera outside of their room in case of Felix making a habit of his visits, but upped his notion to sitting on guard when the Slovene dropped in as well. "You sound like a teenage girl's dad." Aurelie giggled, laugh lines etching themselves alongside her upturned mouth. It was only funnier when she realized that Kat was essentially saying the same thing, just with more of an edge.

"I'd rather stand out in the faces of the crowd." She retorted to Felix when he told her that she needed to work on being more subtle. "It makes it hard for people to forget me."

Dom's apology to Felix harbored no sincerity when the speedster snatched her bra from his grasp and dubbed him the lech; the mind cutter appeared annoyed, obviously not finding the other Omega's antics nearly amusing as he did. She had warned Felix to behave, lest her ex boyfriend defend her honor with his rather destructive ability, to which he affirmed that he was agreeable to the idea, albeit in third person. His demeanor caused a smile to warm her features, lessening the glaring embarrassment she'd felt just moments ago.

Honey buns? She inwardly winced at the moniker. "Thanks." She said, still a little off guard when he said she could relax. It wasn't until he mentioned her box with the niceties that her spirit wanted to fire back. If she didn't stop him now, the whole school would hear a story about how Felix had been the first to see the goodies within. "Only the right kind of naughty, which you've not yet achieved." She retorted.

He'd smoothly laid another pet name upon her, and she played along, rounding sparkling eyes on him as she rose to the challenge. She'd called his nether regions little Winky, but it did little to discourage him, as he only added more fuel to the fire. She made her fingers show a small measure, the insinuation clear for those in the room. She rolled her eyes when he spouted off something of her own. "I think your perceptions are a little off. One because it never got to the honey pot, as you like to call it.... mostly because a pencil would have done better." If he wanted to play this game, she'd outdo him.

Kat jumped in then, issuing threats upon Felix if he didn't leave, but he took them as seriously as he had Dom's. Not at all. Aurelie shook her head as he left, exasperated that she let him get under her skin once again.

After the speed demon departed, and Kat introduced herself to Dom with a threat of her own. Aurelie might have said something to mollify her thoughts that he'd do such a thing, but when it came to being friends with the shifter, she'd learned that she was fiercely protective to those she called her own. Aurelie watched carefully as Dominik had started to smirk, but her expression paused whatever witticism had come to mind. Silently, she thanked whoever was above that he could read the signs.

On the subject of her bra, they deliberated on how to deal with it now that Felix had contaminated it. "Oh it needs to be sterilized, for sure... but I don't know when we'll be able to get out to replace it..." She admitted with a bit of dejection. She'd miss New York for a lot of reasons, but shopping was ranked in the top three.

Kat plopped down next to her after she shifted into a panther, and the telekinetic scratched behind her ears while she searched her ex for some sort of conversational piece. Something neutral to alleviate the awkward tension that seemed to make the air that much more dense. She'd let it slip that Dom had already done his damage on her, and he fidgeted under the two women's stares. A few moments later, he released a sigh and segued into a conversation that he should have had a long time ago. "Oh?" The blond asked, a dainty eyebrow raised higher than its match. Her lips pursed to hide a smile when he continued, admitting he owed her an apology for how he'd decided to end their relationship.

Even though she was intrigued by what he had to say, she hardly let herself slow down, determined to be done organizing their new home in less than twenty minutes. Sapphire eyes never left his countenance though, judging his expression for sincerity.

In truth, she'd missed his friendship more than the idea of having a boyfriend. Dom understood certain parts of her that she could not share with anyone else. The bond that they'd formed when she'd been bedridden had been one she didn't want to lose.

Perhaps now enough time had passed for them to put thee ugliness aside and repair the friendship that had once meant so much to her.

She returned the smile he'd given her and she laughed outright at his admission. "You kind of are..." She agreed, recalling too well how Leo had used the exact wording when she'd confided in him her relationship woes.

                                      Later...

At least he'd admitted to being an idiot... Their sudden breakup had left her bewildered, unable to pinpoint where they'd gone wrong... But it hadn't been the loss of their relationship that stung so persistently - it'd been the loss of his friendship altogether. Dominik had been next to her, coaxing her from the guilt he owned over the bombing incident when few others even seemed to bother. For a full month, she'd nursed her head injury, feeling more frail and vulnerable in the infirmary than she ever had in her life. The mall incident had chipped away pieces of her as if she were as easily broken as a ceramic doll; the Slovene had slowly helped her back to her feet, giving away a bit of himself in the process. He'd been the one person in the X-men who'd been able to get her to smile, to laugh. And while the scars of her run-in with Mystique weren't visible, they would have been a lot deeper without his companionship during her recovery.

The posters he hung up in her room, the books he brought for her to read when he couldn't be there, and even the movies and candy he'd snuck in she'd be forever grateful for. With a few simple gifts and daily visits to the infirmary, he'd given her something to look forward to again, when her emotions before had left her bereft of any want to live.

What they had with each other had felt real. And in a few hurried seconds of time, all of that had evaporated. He had said he wanted them to be friends, but neither had made an attempt before they'd moved to the underground base. She'd lost her boyfriend and one of her best friends all at once.

Having him around again had made the transition to living underground easier. Admittedly, when he'd said he was an idiot, Aurelie had agreed with absolute certainty, but it'd been a few weeks before she allowed them to cross the realm of friendship and back into the territory of something more. They deserved another shot, on the condition that he'd not do the same thing this time around. He'd sworn to learning his lesson about that, which had landed her in front of Sam Guthrie, pleading her case.

"Considering much of his classes were skipped visiting me in the infirmary, I feel responsible for his failing grade in your class." Aurelie started, azure eyes clashing with Cannonball's. "The next team outing would be more physical activity than he'll get by not attending your class -" The Kentucky native opened his mouth to say something, but Aurelie's expression stopped him - at this point they both knew he'd given up on going at all... and they needed to alter the plan in order to get him to pass. "I'll vouch for him, we can even use a patch for you to see his heart rate reach one hundred beats a minute if you'd like..."

Sam considered it, brows furrowing and she continued. "And of course, he'd not be able to complete this with the Omegas, as that would be rewarding him team status again..." She said, playing on the notorious rivalry between the Alphas and Omegas.

The conversation had to have taken at least an hour to convince the professor to allow Dom to come on their next mission, but at least she'd gotten what she'd wanted. Excited to tell him the news, Aurelie wasted no time finding his room. "Hey..." She greeted, peeking her head in before inviting herself through the door. "He caved. Though you have to run with the Alphas for a while."

The elation that escaped the normally emotionally muted man gave her cause to giggle as she spun about the room in his arms; he'd lifted her as though she scarcely weighed more than a feather. The kiss that landed on her lips left her breathless, arms encircling his neck as though her embracing him would be the only thing that kept her upright. She snuck in another before explaining the terms of the agreement.

She laughed outright when he mentioned the inevitable, sharp disapproval from the Omega queen - the visions in her head more like something from a cartoon than from reality. "I think she'll have to accept it in due time." She said with her nose creasing with cute little crinkles. After all, he'd chosen an Alpha as a girlfriend... one who'd been resourceful enough to accomplish what she'd not been able to. Guthrie had refused to relent before.

"But I'll make sure to mark off extra credit all the same." The telekinetic winked, a coquettish grin painting itself in her features. The way she'd said it had been designed to make his knees weak, and not at all from how much more exercise he'd get from dodging Narcissa's explosive attacks.

She sobered a few moments later, finger pressed to her lips while she thought about everything they'd need. "You'll need a new suit of course... all of the Alphas and Omegas got them." Grabbing his hand, she tugged him toward Beast's office, because she wasn't quite sure just when they'd be getting out of their underground cage.

Felix pulled little more from Dominik after their first exchange with one another, the man merely casting hazel eyes to the ceiling in response to him thereafter. The presence of another male in the vicinity grabbed at the Slovenian’s attentions, however, Gabriel’s display with the firearm striking Dom as more theatrical than actually threatening; he lent the man a faint half-smile, visibly unfazed, ”Dominik.” That trademark smirk grew larger, enough to briefly flash perfectly white teeth, when Kat referred to him as Papa, Aurelie saying something similar. Katerina requested he leave the rifle by the door, sharp eyes finding Felix as he bolted...and were it not for the possibility that she might find him an acceptable substitute in the speedster’s absence, the Slovene may have spent an enthused nod her way at the notion. Needless to say, Felix’s first impression hadn’t exactly landed him in Dominik’s good graces either.

Soon enough, he found himself alone in the room but for its two owners, the overdue apology falling from his lips. Kat, in panther form, flashed a hungry gaze his way as Aurelie moved to scratch her at the ear, the gesture spawning a docile reaction. The beautiful blonde of course didn’t try to deny Dominik’s idiocy, but she stated as much with a smile and velvety laughter. Seemed like a good sign; maybe she’d actually forgive him after all. Dom cracked a wide grin, eyes glinting “I know…but I’ve been told it makes me kind of endearing.”

---one month later----

Dominik was relieved to hear Aurelie accept his apology, even laughing at her adamantly confirming that he was, indeed, an idiot. All things considered, the Slovene felt thankful he’d been hit by the renegade bra after all, since despite the initial awkwardness of the situation which followed, he’d made contact with the telekinetic yet again; soon enough they’d struck up the friendship he’d come to miss so much. The nature of their breakup had been so odd, so sudden, that despite his initial want to be friends with Aurie, he’d been wracked with enough guilt over everything to keep his distance.

…But she remained one of the only people with whom Dominik had ever shared any part of himself, the details of his old injuries which he kept so tightly contained spilling easily in her presence, when she’d nursed an ailment that felt so similar to his own.

Their meetings together in the medical ward proved still the only happy memory he had of such a place, and she the only reason he’d ever venture back. Her bright presence helped him perhaps as much as he’d helped her, though he’d never expressed as much in words; some part of helping her feel at home in a hospital room, lightly discussing their injuries, made the Slovenian feel more comfortable with those aspects of his past. When she’d been released and their relationship progressed into the outside world, he’d been happy…up to the point that he started to feel too close, and old anxieties flared within him again, spurring the words ‘we should just be friends’ from his lips so suddenly that they sparked his own surprise as much as hers. Dom regretted it instantly. Yet he couldn’t think on how to take back what he’d said, or at least make it sound more eloquent so that their friendship might remain intact.

A special bond had formed between them, something real, and in her absence he felt the void it left all too plainly.

Maybe Aurelie felt the same, as the two fell back into their friendship so quickly after meeting in her room…and after a few weeks of hesitance on the telekenetic’s part, they’d inevitably segued into something more again.
With all the time they spent together, it hadn’t missed Aurelie’s notice that Dominik secretly missed being a part of a team, or that the lack of true sunlight underground took its toll, making him stir crazy…

At least when they’d lived in New York, he’d had an entire city at his disposal wherein he could distract himself from being on probation. Here, not so much. The former Omega never said a word out loud about this, admittedly still certain he’d never attend a gym class no matter what it cost him. Though the beautiful blonde quickly sensed his restlessness, going to Guthrie on his behalf.

Presently Dominik sat on his bed, flipping through the pages of a book with feigned interest. He’d cut his hair short on a whim, and occasionally still found a hand rising to brush away strands of sandy tresses at his shoulder—which, of course, no longer existed. What remained sat cleanly brushed and styled on his scalp, barely a hair out of place; it made him look older, he’d noticed, but otherwise the Slovene gave the change little thought.

…No chance in hell Guthrie was going to let him go on a mission; not until he attended a class or two, and that just wasn’t going to happen. Dom’s brows knitted; although, if anyone could sell that idea as a good one, it’d be Aurie…
’I probably shouldn’t get my hopes up, just in case…’

A sheet of glossy light hair dipped through his doorway, snagging attentions away from the book in his hand. Dom slid off the bed, looking a bit more eager than he’d intended, but the excitement lining Aurelie’s features looked too potent not to mirror. ”You,” He grinned, meeting her at the center of his room, wrapping his arms about her waist and spinning her so that all that bright blond hair spilled over his eyes,”Are a damn miracle worker.” Dominik placed a brief but heavy kiss upon her lips to finish the motion, all his relief spilling into the gesture.

Running with the Alpha’s wouldn’t be ideal were it not for her presence, but either way he’d be thankful to see sunlight again. Olive eyes glinted, mirthful, Dom shrugging at Sam Guthrie’s terms, ”Fine by me…I hope you told him about all the extra calories I’ll burn running from Narcissa when she finds out.” The Slovene cracked, lips rising into his usual lop-sided grin. He couldn’t imagine his team leader being too thrilled to hear she’d temporarily lost one of her own to the Alphas, but it’d even out if it meant he’d eventually be back with the Omegas, right?

…Though likely she would say she’d rather he just attend gym.
Her laughter spilled over him, warming him nearly as much as her kiss, and Dom mirrored her sentiments with a grin. The Slovene cocked his head leftward in mock contemplation, wry humor playing over his features, ”She’ll accept it, sure…though whether that happens before or after she barbeques me is another matter…” Cissa liked him, so he didn’t have cause to feel too worried…right?

Time would tell.

Aurelie’s expression leveled off with a playful wink and that trademark winning smile, Dominik’s brows crawling happily upward at the mention extra credit. Suddenly any qualms Narcissa might have over Dom running with their rival team didn’t seem very important. He looped an arm around the blonde’s waist, planting a quick kiss on her cheek, ”Only you could make extra credit sound so good…you know, if you’d taught all my classes, I think my GPA would be much, much higher.” And wasn’t that the truth…had Guthrie been a beautiful woman, specifically one like Aurie, he might’ve never missed a single class.

He looked markedly less enthused about the new suit, but shrugged as Aurelie tugged him along. Outside of the usual Kevlar layering, jeans and a t-shirt suited Dominik’s tastes more than actual uniforms. ”As long as they’re not all leather and spandex…they’re not all leather and spandex, right?” He hadn’t signed up to look like a dominatrix…all jokes about the name similarities aside...

                                      **

                                      User Image

Tucking a slip of blond hair behind her ear, Aurelie smiled as she slid into Dominik's room. "You ready?" She asked, twirling back and forth from anticipation. "We are supposed to be there in five minutes... And you can't afford to be tardy - I'd hate to dock you in points." She teased, lacing her hand into his own as she dragged him out into the hallway and down to their rendezvous point.

They arrived just in time for Scott's spiel, and Aurelie remained quiet - always sober right before they were sent out - though the retention center soured something in her stomach, making it that much worse. How could people be so cruel?

She leaned into the wall of Dom's chest for support, relishing in the fact that he was there with her; of everyone in the room, he'd understand her anxiety, why she always felt so nervous at the start.. Her hand gave his a gentle squeeze, and she looked up at him, his chin resting on her forehead. Sapphire eyes expressed her gratitude for his presence, but she said nothing, figuring he'd read her emotions with a clarity she probably shouldn't have given him credit for. Bella dished out where they'd be, and the Amish girl sighed. "Kat's not with us..." She said, clearly disappointed. At least she'd not separated them as well. "I'd rather she was..."

Dimitri made a small joke about how little they'd worked together and Aurelie smiled, nodding in agreement with Raine. "I don't know." She called behind her with a grin, as she hadn't realized he'd been standing behind them. "I normally don't watch people as they go. View's better for them this way." She said, clearly joking as she borrowed a bit of her bestie's self confidence. A part of that might have been encouraged by Dom's presence next to her, but she wasn't about to say that out loud.

Her eyes darted about the room, looking for her person and found her seething at the table. Hurriedly, she checked the clock. Ten minutes. "Something's wrong." She whispered to her boyfriend, curiosity and fret weaving into her words. Pulling Dom along by interlocked fingers, she strode up next to her, and motioned for the sparkplug to follow.

"Hey." She said, bumping an elbow into her arm lightly. "Sorry I was late... I had to talk to Guthrie again." For a moment, she cheesed, doing what she could to cheer her bestie up from whatever troubled her. Obviously Dom's presence said what she didn't - she'd succeeded.

"I wish you were with us..." She didn't like going without Kat near her. The former HYDRA agent's confidence on the field made her feel more at ease... and this time, she wasn't even with Leo either. She'd hoped to see him in the meeting; he'd made himself scarce since coming home. The telekinetic guessed he'd wanted his space given how he'd not sought her out to assure her that he was safe; she heard he had been back for several days before she'd seen any sign of life. That had caused her to abandon her idea of confessing to him how she felt, deciding that it wasn't worth it to risk their friendship when she'd clearly been suffering from delusions.

                                      **

”As I’ll ever be.” The Slovenian replied to his girlfriend, who spun about the room in anticipation. Dominik shelved some of his enthusiasm from view in lieu of a serious attempt to appear unperturbed about going on a mission after being benched for so long. A smile cracked over his handsome features when Aurelie mentioned docking points, ”Aurelie, I think you’ll find that I’m a very dedicated student; I plan on having perfect marks.”

Dom’s usual humor drifted from his features when they stepped into the meeting, eyes as attuned and serious as Aurie’s when Bella began to speak. Anger flashed in the normally muted man’s eyes at the thought of the retention center, though nothing else in his demeanor displayed any overt reaction to it.

Aurelie leaned into his chest, and he quickly received her there, knowing well that they were both feeling similar anxieties; much as he enjoyed going being on the field, it spelled trouble…the potential for incurring injuries both of them felt all too familiar with. Dom nestled his chin reassuringly in his girlfriend’s golden hair, returning the squeeze she lent upon his hand. Hazel eyes watched Bella studiously, the Omega feeling admittedly out of place among the crowd of Alphas, rather unfamiliar with the leader he’d be working under. He’d have to be careful, he considered, with his abilities…the thought not a new one, but highlighted given the circumstances. Bella didn’t seem as keen on overt violence so much as Narcissa; Dominik had a great deal of trouble already tempering his ability to the usual x-men standards. The more potent they became, the more difficult that would be…though he shelved the contemplation for a later time.

Aurelie lamented Kat’s separation from her, a frown dappling her pretty features. Dom half-smiled in response…admittedly still not sure if he’d fallen in the Italian woman’s good graces just yet. He’d made an effort, though, at Aurie’s suggestion. Given her obvious hatred for Felix, Dom recently gifted Kat a dartboard with the speedster’s face taped in as the centerpiece; hopefully it would earn him some brownie points.

Dimitri made a quip then, the Slovene turning his head slightly see him; another stranger…someone he’d seen around once or twice, but no more than that. ”Definitely the first time you’ll be watching mine,” He quipped back, smirking at Aurie’s reply, ”Enjoy.”

A moment later Aurie pulled him towards a very livid looking Kat, and Dominik blinked, thankful that said anger didn’t seem directed at him…hesitant to be caught in the crossfire of her frustration regardless. Though with Aurie by his side, the Slovene figured himself safe enough. The mind cutter remained silent as the girls exchanged words, raising a hand briefly in greeting at the shapeshifter but otherwise caught up in the anticipation of being on the field once more.

Location: Outside his room/The War Room
Thoughts: Defending myself/Mission prep

User ImageGabriel ignored the Omega’s derisive comments towards him, frankly the man was a creep, no doubt about that. The man was compensating for something, seeming to act like he was. And to go after him for speaking his mind, well whatever helped the boy sleep at night really. So he paid no mind at all to him as he continued to unload his things. He chuckled to himself as Kat continued on her offensive about how men were the weaker species. “Over-grown man children” as how she put it.

“For someone claiming men are children, you’re acting quite childish. Men and women are just as immature as anybody else. You’d be a fool to think otherwise.”

“Believe it or not, I accept that I am human. I accept that we are subject to all our faults and weaknesses. I was raised to accept that.” If there was one thing his parents taught him, it was that he needed to accept and grow from his faults. Perhaps he was achieving that here, down in the dark underground lair they called home.

Aurie remarked on how he seemed to be getting better, “I have my moments, as all men are capable of these days.” He was slowly improving over time.

Both of the girls joked about how he was acting like a father to them, “My sister was six years older than I was. I’ve been chasing boys out my house since I could carry a rifle.” he neglected to tell them that he was a five year old when he fired his first .22 rifle.

It was a bullseye.

Pulling out his sidearm he unloaded it and chambered the last round. Catching it, he said simply “I was taught to watch out for the women around me. Not because of some macho nonsense, only because it was the right thing to do. I know you two can handle yourselves, he just creeps me out quite a bit.” He grabbed one of his larger cases, chock full of tools, and said to the girls, “I’ll leave you two to it. I gotta set up shop.” Dragging the case along, he went off to find the room he reserved for his work.

One Month Later

It had been uneventful to say the least. He worked in his shop, putting together all kinds of crazy firearms ideas to the table. Some of his more tame ideas were resting in the Armory, his insane ideas sat in the shop. Unfinished, of course. God knows that half the crap he made would likely never see the life of day. For practicality reasons, as well as safety.

He nearly lit himself on fire the first time he tested his Uzi-flamethrower combination…

User ImageHe was called down to the War Room, with the rest of the Alphas. Mission time, he was given the parameters: heading to an MRD base to free some prisoners. He was given the ok to head down to the Armory, and to be quick about it. The Omegas were down there. So he moved down quickly, slipping through the door quietly, ignoring any stares that may come his way from the red and black team members. Though for some reason, as he picked out his weapons, he felt the need to grab as many as he could carry. Not only that, he wanted to unload them, right there, right now.

Resisting the urge, he grabbed an HK416 rifle that he modified, some flash bang grenades, and an HK USP Mk23 pistol. Though the sight of a ballistic mask piqued his attention. Grabbing that he, also took a tactical vest to carry the ammunition for his weapons. Though man he was feeling just… angry for some reason. It was the strangest thing he could imagine. What was he so angry about?

Perhaps he could sense that creep from earlier?

It had been a busyish last month. The healing man had been keeping himself busy. His time being spent with friends as necessary. Then helping anywhere that there was help needed. The infirmary was pretty stocked by now. His room was finished weeks ago, and he was beginning to run out of things to do. Thomas had taken to trying to do what he could for everyone. Bella was someone who got a majority of it.

Thomas was a little annoyed at Blake. The molecular manipulator had left to go back home for a political thing, all while their best friend was falling to pieces. He thought that the man should have stuck around, helped given his feelings for the sound manipulator, but maybe his thoughts were wrong. Personally, the man’s own family wasn’t really around, so he didn’t get the pressure family could bring. Surely Blake was doing his best, and Thomas’ thoughts were wrong. His annoyance was likely misplaced. Thomas did his best, but he just wasn’t properly equipped to deal with the things Bella was dealing with. Bella needed something, and Thomas didn’t know how to provide it. He’d tried time and time again, but there was a piece of the puzzle he was missing. Thankfully Leonardo had been there to step in and help.

Currently the team was gearing up for a mission. Thomas being himself didn’t bother grabbing any weapons, he was more likely to hurt his own teammates than the enemies with a weapon. Instead he had his usual medical equipment and syringe. A syringe was the easiest way to transfer his blood, and also one of the nicest ways of doing so.

Scott proceeded to brief them on what they were there to do, and Thomas politely gave the man his full attention. The briefing didn’t take long, but it did help stress the seriousness of the situation. As if them being sent in wasn’t clear enough. That the collars had been rigged to explode caused the man to visibly sigh. How could they go to such extremes with innocent people? With children? Could they not see how dangerous this was? The obvious answer was they didn’t care. That alone was a depressing thought.

A glance in his team leader’s direction and the holding of hands between Bella and Leo was caught. It was very subtle, and that something had apparently blossomed between the two was nice. Bella deserved to be happy, and if Leonardo was the one to offer that to her, then that was that.

The man wasn’t one to judge, but Leo seemed good for Bella. Blake wouldn’t be happy, but surely once he saw that Bella was actually laughing and smiling again he would do the honorable thing and swallow such thoughts. Wasn’t that what one did for someone they cared about? Of course Thomas had yet to see the molecular manipulator, so he couldn’t properly judge his mood. All he could really hope for was to be present whenever what was going to happen, happened, and react accordingly.

As Isabella stepped in to finish the briefing, Thomas gave her his full attention. He even sent an encouraging smile, but it was only a small thing. She stressed the fact that the collars were rigged to explode and then launched right into things, explaining everyone’s jobs for those who had individual jobs. Thomas was going with Leo for at least part of the mission, and he made a silent wish that all would turn out good.

They were all dismissed to gather what they needed and given a ten minute timer to do so. Given that he already had everything that was needed, Thomas took a step up beside Bella looking at the screen. A glance to the side was enough to see the woman’s mood about things. “Relax Bells, it will all turn out okay. Have some faith in yourself and leading skills. We’ll get them all out safely and soundly.” Tapping her arm lightly with his elbow, he returned his attention to the screen.

It was terrible, even now. Thomas just hoped things turned out as well as he hoped. They couldn’t afford much more tragedy before they all started breaking.

(OOC: If anything was missed let me know and I can edit as needed.)

With Katerina stealing his attention, and Charlotte giving him the lowdown of the mysterious woman, Christian felt the gears in his head turning. Katerina, eh? he thought, knowing that her being an Alpha would make it harder to track her down later. Then again, perhaps that was part of the challenge she threw at him.

Charlotte gave he and Charlie her team affiliation, and the werewolf was pleasantly surprised at finding out that they were on the same team. He gave himself a brief introduction, with Charlie handling his own. At his friend's question, Charlotte explained the meaning behind her codename, Christian rubbing his chin in thought. "That's pretty smart. Clever, really. Kinda makes me wish I spent a little more time scouring mythology for stuff."

The trio made their way into the third floor through the elevator, Christian making sure that Charlie would end his misery should he become infected with the Bieb-virus. where they began distributing the luggage for it's inhabitants, who were all to eager to retrieve their priceless artifacts of devotion to various teen sensations. Christian gave a hint to Charlotte about being able to scare away any of the kids away should they get too grabby, but it elicited no real response. They quickly returned to their work, all to eager to move onto the net floor.

he one month that had passed had left Christian plenty of time to get to know not only the base, but his teammates as well. They all seemed liked pleasant company, though some of them could be a bit hard to approach. The werewolf wouldn't be deterred, however, as he had plenty of time to get to know everyone down here. He and Charlie were already on good terms, and that seemed like enough at the moment. After all, he knew that the Luck Master was one of the few people that could actually handle a werewolf sleeping in the same room as him. Charlie had enough experience that he was able to lay some rules down for him, though that probably wouldn't stop Christian from subconsciously transforming in his sleep, making the room feel that much smaller with his larger mass.

Seeing as he enjoyed sleep, it was usually quite difficult to get him to wake up on time. So when he heard the faint rustle and footsteps of Charlie walking around the room, getting ready for the day, Christian simply buried himself deeper into his sheets. He pretended not to hear the announcement from Narcissa about heading out. A thrown shoe finally knocked him out of his attempted slumber, a groan rumbling out from the bundle of blankets. He wearily pulled himself out of his bed, before clumsily falling to the floor. While his mind was definitely trying to stay awake, his body had trouble actually feeling awake. “Yeah, give me a sec.” he said groggily, pushing himself up and looking for some more presentable clothing to wear.

His communicator went off again, though this time Kat's voice rang through, causing his head to snap up a bit. That woke him up. She told him, with her nickname for him and as few words as possible, to be careful in her own special way. He would have thought she would put a little more faith in his abilities, considering she had put in some effort for him to improve as well. The past month had seen Christian and Kat bump into each other 'by chance' from time to time, continuing the game of tag that Kat had imposed on him when she first ran into him. He retaliated by tracking down her scent...fresh off some luggage of hers that contained some expensive looking (and smelling) perfume, and other belongings. From there, the game of tag went back and forth, the meetings varying in length from a few minutes to an afternoon's worth. Sprinkled into these meetings were Kat's desire to mold him into a better fighter (outside of his transformation), while also offering a glimpse of what she was to Christian. He...was still putting pieces of the puzzle together. Still, the fact that she considered to remind him to not screw up was at least a testament to...whatever was going on with them. “Like I'd let that time of ours amount to nothing.” he said in a gruff voice, the sleepiness in his voice still audible. Still, it was better to let her know that he wasn't gonna take it easy.

Once he and Charlie were clothed, it was a simple matter to make their way to the Armory on time. It was clear by the look on his face that Christian couldn't completely rub out the tired look from his eyes, so even as the mission was explained, he he continued to stretch himself out to wake up. He took note of the twins set in the pictures, their image doing well to sober him up and get his mind in the game. Or, at least, take some of the drowsiness out. Teens that really weren't all the much younger than he was, on the run from Sentinels. That was a terrifying thought. Good thing the X-men were on the case.

The warning was given to 'not scare' the teens, and cause an uproar. Christian didn't have to look at Charlie to feel that amused smile coming from his friend's face. Low profile meant keeping his claws and fur in check, so he'd have to rely on human form for the most part unless things really went south. He couldn't stop the groan that escaped his lips; he looked forward to scrapping Sentinel circuits with his claws.

Directions were given to pair up in groups, maximum of 4, and minimum of 2. Judging by how Charlie didn't immediately look for a partner, he had assumed they were pairing up, as usual. His friend noted the lack of excitement his team specifically was faced with. “Hey, play your cards right, and we might push around some goon.” he said, not helping the smirk from appearing on his face. He scanned the room, looking for others. While they had met the minimum for their team, this wouldn't be a bad time to create a sort of camaraderie with others as well. “You think we should-” he started, before being approached by a familiar looking redhead. If memory served, this was Kerrigan, one of the more experienced members on the Omegas. “...nevermind.” She asked if she could join up with them, saving Christian the issue of looking for someone else to round them out.

Christian shrugged, looking to Charlie. “I can't think of why not. We'd be glad to have you, right?” he said, letting his friend have his say on the matter as well. He turned back to Kerri, extending a hand out to her. “Welcome to the crew.”

"If you find a man that's worth a damn and treats you well.
Then he's a fool, you're just as well, hope it gives you hell.
I hope it gives you hell.
Tomorrow you'll be thinking to yourself.
Yeah, where did it all go wrong?
But the list goes on and on."

▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀

The previous month had proven to be less than unenjoyable. Raine had been spending a lot more time with them and trips around the academy became rare. Why did they need to leave the confines of the room to enjoy themselves. Nonetheless, it wasn’t all fun and games, Raine seemed determined to make him study and Felix was equally determined to disappoint her. His grades were perfectly fine. Felix was never going to be a “functioning member of society”, so getting a great education seemed pointless. He could spend his time doing other things.

Raine left the room early, but Felix wasn’t asleep. No, with his mutation he got a lot less sleep than most people. He just didn’t seem to need as much, and could function perfectly fine on less. Getting up after the brunette left and taking a look around, his attention was stolen by the comm on the table. Cissa was apparently reminding them it was mission day. Never one to pass up the chance to tease someone he actually didn’t hate, he picked up the comm. “Now kitten, you didn’t have to make up this story about a mission if you wanted to see me.” He was sure to pay for the use of his patented nickname for the blonde, but it was worth it.

Lately he hadn’t been able to put nearly as much time into teasing his friends as before, so it was doubly important to never waste an opportunity. Getting showered and dressed in a flash, Felix headed for the room in question. He wasn’t the first to arrive by far, but given that he didn’t really care, the speedster arrived in the room as one of the last arrivals.

It wasn’t long after his arrival that Emma turned on the monitors and began to explain things. Felix half listened while he gazed around the room. His eyes landing on a certain angry blonde who was glaring at a certain giant in the making. Staring for a moment, his attention returned to Emma as she continued. They were going in to save a pair of twins from sentinels. Emma cautioned them to remember that sentinels would switch to their destroy protocol if they could fulfill the primary directive.

Emma mentioned that when they found them, they would need to be gentle, and Felix decided he was probably the last person that should greet them. Felix and kids didn’t mix particularly well. Emma tried to give them all dirty looks, and Felix simply stared at her perfectly neutral and proceeded to think the most obscene and dirty things about the woman just because. Narcissa took over, and Felix stopped his thoughts and turned to her.

Apparently they were going to be in small groups. To keep up the appearance of casual shoppers. Hopefully this would help make things more interesting. After Cissa finished, she mentioned they could choose their groups as long as they did so quickly. Felix’s first instinct was to tag along with Cissa or Aren, but then a thought occurred to him and the speedster turned his eyes on Peyton. Most didn’t want to pair with her probably because of her attitude, but that just made things more interesting. Sneaking up on the distracted woman, Felix put his arm around her shoulders and stared at the two she seemed to be staring at. Newcomers to the team.

“They don’t really seem like your type bright eyes. I think I’ll pair with you for this mission since I know how much you love me. I know, I’m a great guy. So, rumor is you sent Neanderthal Man for a nasty little tumble. I should have figured that hurricane in mouth form would come in handy for something. Ever think about doing that again? I could perhaps help.” Roland was someone Felix disliked quite a lot, for selfish reasons, but the speedster was never the most forgiving. And as the saying went, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. This seemed like a good chance to test that theory out.

“I think we could prove very useful for each other in the future.” The line was whispered, but Felix was sure she had heard him. Watching the others pair up, Felix waited for them to leave. It was time. And getting out of their prison would be nice.

(OOC: PM me if I missed something. Disclaimer: Felix is an a*****e, and his views do not necessarily coincide with those of Master Cliff Fate. Except when it comes to those damn homo sapiens. The bastards...)

                                        Name: Isabella Stone
Location: Alkali Lake Facility - War Room
                                        Team: Alpha

                                        One month later...

With Professor Summers repeating mission parameters that she’d poured over nightly, she couldn’t help it when her thoughts slipped away. Feeling a hand tighten around her own, she was grateful for the subtle reminder that she needed to come back down to earth. The animal mimic at her side was also more than likely sick of hearing about the current topic, almost as much as she was, considering how often they crossed paths. The sound user bit her lip a little to keep from fully smiling in the middle of what should have been a serious affair when the man scoffed... It amused her that while they were preparing to proverbially storm the castle, Leonardo’s biggest concern at the moment was related to their uniforms. ~Out of the two of us…Shouldn’t I be the one concerned about what I’m wearing?~

A month ago, they’d barely been able to breathe in one another’s proximity. A previously complicated situation had changed quickly, and with a fluidity that surprised her. Everything just seemed to fall neatly into place. The peace of mind and safe haven that Leo unknowingly brought to her life was a luxury that sadly hadn’t existed in quite some time. It was definitely an adjustment, especially in comparison to feeling utterly devastated. ~Really though… It’s not such a big deal. If you’re not comfortable with the uniform after you’ve tried it—Don’t wear it.~

~It’s meant to make our jobs easier, not difficult. Dr. McCoy won’t be offended…~
, Bella offered up kindly as their conversation was cut short, her soft expression falling into something a little more severe. For those that knew her best, a visible change in her eyes, and in her demeanor was obvious. She forcibly hardened in a way that she was never meant to.

Doling out assignments and team arrangements were easy enough, but when Dimitri asked about the possibility of remote detonation of the collars—Emerald eyes immediately turned to Forge. Isabella had learned a long time ago that explosives were not at all her area of expertise… It had taken a combination of Forge and Beast to explain how to simply rig a demolition block for their escapades in Limbo. They occasionally spoke over her head… “Thoughts on that?”

Forge cleared his throat and nodded to Isabella, signaling that he knew what Dimitri was talking about. “I’ve analyzed and pulled apart enough of the devices to say that they definitely do not have that capability. The collars are designed for the simplicity of nullifying the effects of the X-Gene and the illusion of keeping dangerous citizens under control.”

“A small explosion was added to the locking mechanism to deter any attempts at forced removal; Which is why you will need to acquire a key. There are no signs or pieces of hardware that would show the collars can be detonated remotely. In my opinion, that kind of application would have proved too risky. Both for the staff, and for mutants wearing the devices.”
, Forge finished off, keeping some of his thoughts to himself. There were a million reasons why remote detonation wasn’t yet utilized in the retention centers… Most of which had nothing to do with moral ambiguity of slaughtering their guests. The Sentinels were indicative of that.

It was politics and perception, pure and simple.

Isabella got back on track after that, accepting the Native American’s explanation as truth. He’d never let them down in regards intelligence before, and she doubted he’d start now. The Siren had successfully completed three different missions with Scott and some of the senior X-Men. They’d gotten in and out before thing had turned violent, as if spirited away.

Luke and Alexandra agreed with her plans, or at least accepted them, her keen ears easily picking up both of their responses. She picked up other little things here or there, such as the arrival of Aspen. The young woman spent so much time with the Omega’s that the songstress felt badly for keeping her from her friends. She would have suggested a transfer, but she also didn’t want the young woman to think she wasn’t wanted. Bella was glad to see Marcel approach the Alpha in question, hoping against hope that she might form a few bonds.

It was easier for everyone to work with people that they knew, even on a base level. Too many times certain Alpha’s tended to herd together, so she did her best to separate them. They all needed to be aware of one another to increase effectiveness on the field. All of the Alpha’s should know the names, powers, and codenames of everyone else.

Her eyes flickered towards one of her least favorite team members, jade eyes growing colder by degrees when she caught the tail end of something Katerina snapped towards Leo. Bella wasn’t entirely sure that she understood the context, but she understood the tone of an insult when she heard one. Choosing to ignore the shape shifter for the time being, she turned her gaze back towards the monitors. That didn’t stop her from feeling the daggers in her back.

What exactly had she done to her? Bella, for the life of her, couldn’t figure it out. Her aversion for shape shifters had only gotten worse since Mystique had put a bullet in her shoulder... But despite personal issues, she’d tried everything. Somehow every word she uttered seemed to push the Ex-Hydra agent to the breaking point. The songstress got the same feeling around Katerina that she’d always noticed about Gideon. It was rage, barely contained.

The only difference was that Gideon had loved her, in his own way. He’d held back as much anger as he could manage… But Katerina didn’t have any kind thoughts towards her. She always glanced over her shoulder when the young woman was near out of sheer self-preservation.

Thomas stopped beside her and she pushed a small smile onto her features, the edges of her lips turning upward. Was it so obvious that she was off her game? Perhaps she should have never let the animal mimic at all… The task hadn’t seemed so daunting then. He tapped her arm and she let her smile fall into a confident smirk as he tried to reassure her. “Don’t be silly, I know that.”

“We’re ready. We’ve been out of the game for a little while… But this is a small mission. It’s a good starting point—We can do it.”
, Her poised words seemed to hold truth and weight for anyone listening in, but her stomach was sitting somewhere near her feet. She'd heard Dimitri, Raine and some of the others talk about watching each others backs... She hoped it wouldn't come to that.

She turned and watched her team start to come back from the Armory, eyes landing on Dom. Bella had never actually had an Omega choose to come to her team, but it only took a brief glance towards the blonde telekinetic he was wrapped around to understand why. Aurelie addressed Katerina, and the songstress gave the telekinetic a brief smile… Knowing that her attention would fall to the shape shifter.

For reasons she didn’t understand, Aurelie seemed to enjoy being in Katerina’s company. Guthrie had mentioned that she might be taking a stowaway along, but he hadn’t mentioned who, or when. Dominik was definitely a surprise…

“Good to have you, Edipova…”, Isabella spoke lightly, her smile fading when she felt Katerina’s eyes continue to bore holes into her body. If looks could have killed, she would have been six feet under ages ago. Hearing Aurelie mention that she wished the shapeshifter was on their side, she bit back a sigh. Leo was the only person she trusted to keep Katerina in line. It was that simple.

Triggering her comm she called out to the Alpha’s that they were set to leave in five minutes, her body shifting towards the protected portal that Eden had opened. Bella would have continued on her way were it not for the fact that the Ex Hydra agent didn’t bother to disguise her animosity as she passed. It well and truly forced the songstress to address it, despite her reservations. She couldn’t go out on the field, wondering if one of her teammates was going to stab her in the back. Something in her told her to brace for impact. “Is there a problem Ms. Force?”

It was never his desire to antagonize Peyton. Not really. He enjoyed exchanging banter with her, sure, but he never really wanted to make her legitimately angry at him. But Aspen was rude to him, and he needed to pay her in kind. This could all have been avoided if she had not been rude to him. Why were basic manners so lost on others these days? He did his best to treat the girl respectfully, but all she did was act as a child. So he treated her like the child she was. He was no longer going to waste his time and effort trying to appeal to someone who failed to see reason. If that was going to earn him Peyton's ire for the next few weeks, then so be it. He refused to let people walk all over him the way the petulant child tried to. He was nothing if not a gentleman, and he was known for his great wealth of patience under most situations, but even he had his limits. Nonetheless, if he was at all angry, there was not a single hint of it shown on his face. He was nonchalant as he appeared before an entirely new group of people, quickly dispensing of his communication device in a way that would keep him from hearing the inevitable rage that would come from his favorite blonde spitfire. He heard his name fly out of the comm just as the device sunk into the glass of water, clinking against the base of the cup.

He flashed a smirk to those around him. Some of those in the kitchen appeared to be cooking a meal, while others seemed to be eagerly awaiting to be fed. He merely stood there, watching his fellow teammates and students. A pretty redhead(Lynette) was the first to greet him, telling him to take a seat. He nodded. ”Thank you, but I prefer to stand,” he said, politely. He was content to simply observe the proceedings. He gave a curt nod to another redhead, this one male(Esben), who waved at him. Yet another redhead(the mutant-x gene seemed to have a preference for the hair color, apparently) greeted him(Daylia), and he once again nodded. ”A pleasure,” he said simply. A dark-skinned gentleman offered him a plate, and told him to “take a load off.” He smiled at the man, shaking his head lightly, politely declining his offer. ”I thank you for the kind offer, but I'll have to decline. I ate not very long ago, and I am quite full. I need to watch my figure, after all,” he added with a smirk. It was not altogether a lie. He had not actually eaten for a while, but he did try to watch his figure. He followed a rather strict diet, made routine by his being trained as a ninja all his life with the Hand; a routine that, even in his life of a thief's excess, he had yet to break. Some habits just never died. Some would say he was neurotic about such things, and to a degree they were right, but it was better that than dead due to negligence.

It took him a few moments to realize that he was thumbing the ring on his right ring finger, a subconscious action. Sometimes he could have sworn he could feel the power within the ring, the Satanic energies hiding him from the Hand's magicks humming. Those were the moments he felt almost compelled to touch the thing.

Another pretty young woman(Gracie) asked him if he'd made someone angry. At first he played innocent, answering her with a simple ”Hm?” He looked down at the glass, comm lying at the base, then could not help but break into a light laugh. ”That is a loaded question,” he said in response. ”But suffice it to say that it is fortunate that I am a teleporter. Otherwise I may not be alive to regale you with the tale.” He had little doubt that if he hadn't left the way he did, he would probably be pinned to a wall in the girls' dorm facing fale-force winds and a very angry blonde. What was it with blonde Omegas and fiery tempers, anyway? These Americans were all backwards. Here the redheads were the calm and friendly ones while the blondes would kill you at the drop of a hat. Though Aspen was a redhead and she was rather rude... but Julian considered her less a person and more an animal. Animals did not abide by such stereotypes. ”Assuming, of course, that there is a tale to tell.”

                                                                        TIME WARP | ✖ ✖ ✖xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

For once, Julian was all seriousness. The Englishman always went into a certain mindset when he knew he would have to go into battle, one of those leftover tenets bred into him from his training as an assassin. The mission always came first. You take the target down, and until that job was done, nothing else mattered, not even your own life. He had to remind himself that such a mindset was one of his many problems with the Hand, but it was not a habit that was easy to shake off. It helped to make oneself as flambouyant as possible in the middle of a fight, but such a thing was a performance at best. At heart, he was always singleminded about getting something done. Perhaps that was why a small part of him doubted how well he could perform in this mission. They were supposed to protect others, right? He was not so sure how good he could be at that. He was good for sneaking into bases undetected, even better for stealing valuables, and infinitely better for eliminating a target before anyone can notice. Protection and rescue was a whole different matter altogether. It was never something he'd actually done. It was always something he left to others more qualified. He was no hero. He was just a thief. A stunningly handsome thief with a knack for being well-dressed and a gift with words.

Of his costume that had been assigned to him, he could at least say that he had a hand in designing it. He refused to wear just a simple black body suit like so many were content with. He absolutely hated the idea of matching uniforms. After all, what was the point in a costume if there was to be no individuality in it? The more ostentatious, the better, and the less attention you'd draw on yourself when you were in civilian gear. To that effect, he wore a black vest with gold accents and a blue circled X patched of the right breast, a golden-accented black Victorian-styled hooded frock coat, a seemingly simple pair of slacks, black gloves, and riding boots; all made of unstable molecules, of course. Over his face he wore an exact replica of the Venetian mask he always wore on heists, only made up of a hardened version of the same substance as the rest of his costume. The look was a little more flambouyant and old-fashioned than the suits he normally wore for such occasions, but it suited him well enough and he liked it. From his right hand hung one of his many canes, this one's handle a blue orb with silver spider webs surrounding it, and as always a long thin sword blade hidden within the long wooden shaft; a weapon for only the most gentlemanly of assassins. In his pockets he had several dozen small powdered smoke pellets of the kind he'd learned to make within the Hand, as well as small sacks of iron caltrops. All in all, he was ready for combat, and in a mood to match.

He was quiet as Cyclops briefed them on their situation, considering his words carefully. If he was not very good at protecting and rescuing, he could at least put up a fight against those who threaten them. He could certainly also steal the keys to these draconian collars placed on the mutants in custody. Stealing he could certainly do. It certainly angered him that mutants were being treated so poorly in his new home country. It was silly to him, the fact that mutants were being treated so poorly by the majority. Why were they suddenly being rounded up for a situation that was purely by accident of birth, as if they somehow commited some crime just by existing. It made no sense to him. It seemed that anywhere he decided to go there was someone who wanted to chase him. The Sentinels would just have to get in line behind the magic ninjas and angry rich people whose valuables he'd borrowed.

Their team leader addressed them then, giving those that needed to arm themselves time to do so, and further stressing that removing the collars forcefully would only result in death for the wearer. He wondered if simply teleporting the collar away from the wearer would be safe. If he was quick enough, he could probably take it off before anything could happen. But he decided it probably was not worth the risk to try. He had to shake his head at such things. How could people willingly do such things to other people en masse without so much as blinking? Why were mutants the minority that it was perfectly acceptable to openly hate? Why was everyone so supportive of policies that tore children from their parents put those who resisted to death?

No. He could not allow himself to be distracted by such thoughts. He had a mission to accomplish. It would be his first mission with his new team, the Alphas. At this point, he was used to working on his own. It would take some getting used to, working with other team members. It was a difficult thing to ask of him to entrust someone else to watch his back. No offense was meant by these thoughts, but he of all people knew that even the most seemingly trustworthy individuals could simply be hiding behind a mask of kindness. His entire identity was one such mask. And, of all people, he would apparently be assigned to someone who did not even make a secret of the fact that she did not like him. Hopefully professionalism would reign, but given the way she looked at the Alphas' team leader, he had his doubts. Still, he'd be the better person in such a case and be the professional she could not be if push came to shove.

He quietly made his way to the table before Bella even stopped talking. He listened to her even as he eyed the map, staring and etching its details into his memory beneath the eyeslits of his mask. ”First things first, we have to assume that this floor plan is unreliable,” the Englishman finally said out loud to Kali. ”However, as a rule, cells don't move in these kinds of facilities. Those will be easy enough to get into even without getting our hands on keys. But, ideally, we want a more reliable floor plan, or simply to confirm that this one is good enough.” He pointed to a room on the top floor, overlooking the prison yard. ”The warden's office. Even if they do not have what we are looking for, you can always impersonate them and accrue such information. Whatever security they happen to have should be no trouble for me. I can't speak as to your skill, however.” The comment was partially a challenge in banter, while also a legitimately a question of her skill in battle. He knew well enough just what he could do, but he had no idea about his partner. ”From there we can get a better measure of the security detail and best decide how to proceed with our leg of the mission. But it all starts here.” He tapped the handle of his cane lightly against the spot on the map he'd singled out. ”Do you agree?”

They were soon joined by a pair of other Alphas, a male he did not know(Dominik) and Kat's blonde friend, the telekinetic known as Allegra. He remained quiet as they exchanged words, eyes turning back to the map to make sure he got its most minute details memorized. Even when their own team leader directly addressed Kat, he did not lift his eyes. Whatever problems they had was none of his business. All he needed to do was memorize this map, as unreliable as it may possibly be. The last thing he wanted right now was to end up inside a wall.

xKaterina’s presence had captured the attention of the Californian werewolf, but hadn’t been missed by Charlie or Charlotte either. It had certainly lifted his friend’s spirits. And really, how could Charlie not encourage his best bud to invest in a lovely lady that had shown such interest in him? He was always supportive of any of Christian’s endeavors. That was what good friends did, after all.

Christian spat out a bunch of possible names to call Charlotte by and she assured that any of them were fine, but Charlie turned the subject to her codename’s origins soon after. As far as he knew it was just some jumble of letters she liked the sound of so he was curious about it.
"A goddess, huh?" he interjected in a friendly tone as she explained it’s origins. It was apparent that she had spent a bit more time coming up with her codename than Charlie had.

So she was a bow hunter? That was definitely impressive.
"I like it." he admitted once she was finished "It has a nice ring to it." It seemed a little rough around the edges, and definitely tough, but still feminine. Christian expressed some slight regret at not finding his codename in mythology, to which Charlie gave his friend a reassuring pat on the back. "Yours is great, I wouldn’t want you to pick anything different."

As they made their way to the third floor, Charlie had agreed to kill Christian if he ever became a Belieber. Somehow he doubted it would ever come to that.

xIn the past month Charlie had spent much of his time forming a new routine. Of course he expected it to be interrupted with missions and other team activities, but now that they were living underground he’d needed to find a new exercise routine. While he’d enjoyed spending as much time outside in the fresh air and sunshine as possible, he’d found a way to manage his days in the gym. He had, inevitably, met many of the other residents of their new home, and many of their teammates. As big as the new base was, it seemed to keep them much closer together than the mansion. Maybe because they were always stuck inside.

Christian had been quite the social butterfly, he had seemed intent on getting to know everyone on the team. But he had also been spending time with Katerina, and Charlie was glad. The werewolf seemed rather taken by her, it was just a shame she wasn’t an Omega.

It had taken a shoe to rouse Christian for the day, he really liked his sleep, but at least he’d been able to get his friend up in time. With all they had heard of Narcissa, he definitely didn’t want to show up late.

And they had managed to be some of the first to make it to the armory, with just a few others already there. Soon the rest would filter in though, and the mission would be explained. They were told not to scare the teens that they were trying to help, and Christians mutation easily came to mind. His friend groaned at this, clearly not keen on the idea of remaining in his human form. Then it was Charlie’s turn to be disappointed, in how mellow the mission seemed. But Christian was there to cheer him up, and he was right. Just because they were looking for some runaway teens didn’t mean they wouldn’t find some baddies to fight too.

When they were told to split into groups it didn’t take any thought for the boys to pair up. That left them with the possibility of adding two more people to their group and Charlie’s hazel eyes were searching for anyone who was having trouble finding a group. He spotted Charlotte, who looked like she might be thinking about joining them, and offered a nod to acknowledge her. They’d already had a chance to get to know the busty redhead, but that didn’t mean they wouldn’t be happy to have her anyway.

Before she could make her way over though, another redhead had approached them. He did know her name and reputation. Kerrigan was a tough gal, but apparently very friendly as well. As she asked if she could team up with them, Christian was quick to tell her they would be glad to have her, but turned the question to Charlie to be sure.
"Sure, I don’t see how that’d be a problem, as long as you don’t slow us down." It was a lighthearted comment, one he wouldn't have made had he not known her standing on the team. He was just having some fun with her and offered a friendly smile so that she wouldn’t take it the wrong way.

So it looked like they would have a chance to get to know another of their teammates. Charlie took a second to glance over at Charlotte. They still had another spot if she needed a team, but it looked like she’d found a partner after all.

"You think you can keep up?" He asked Kerrigan as Christian welcomed her to the gang. He’d heard about her, but he wanted to hear from the redhead herself just how capable she was. Tough was one thing, confident was another. He couldn’t really doubt her ability since he’d not seen her in action, and her reputation seemed convincing enough. He’d heard she was a fighter, an intriguing notion considering the Arizona native had immersed himself in a few forms of martial arts as well.

It would be good to find others on the team that could give him a run for his money, that he could spar with. He definitely needed a sparring buddy. He would have enlisted Christian for the job, even if he’d needed to teach him a thing or two, but it seemed he’d already found his own sparring buddy, and Charlie wasn’t going to get in the way of that.
