Evan was embarrassed that he hadn't talked to anyone at all during the time he had. He needed to change that, and hopefully he would come around after this class was over at the latest. Thinking over his possible genre's he listened to Kyuu for help. He may not be the exact character, but he is close enough to have the genre the same.

"I am from a more modern fantasy epic. At least, that's what I would call it. In this world magic is used along with guns, swords, and a lot of technology is modern but seldom used during the hard times the world is going through. There are many characters and there is a constant war between the lords of Life and Death. It is very complicated so I don't think I could explain it all you guys," he said with a quick smile.

Isa paid attention to the teacher while he spoke and mentally shrugged off the assignment. Her creator could do the assignment without the drawing's help.

Her thoughts turned back towards Sigma and D'cund. At the rocky creature's question, she said, "One definition of technology states that it is considered an application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes. I guess an example would be a tool, or the advancement of tools." She reached out for his finger and started tugging on it while using her other arm to link with Sigma's arm to pull them closer to the talkative group. "No worries about disturbing the class. Heck, if no one's gotten on to me for being so noisy, I doubt they're going to get on to you for moving seats."

With that, she continued to try to half-pull them closer to the others.

Reina meanwhile, fumbled with the tossed marble but thankfully didn't drop it. She had no idea how delicate these were and would prefer not to find out the hard way. "U-um...streaming?" True, the half-elf had known of old world technology and understood what Zane had been talking about, but there were certain phrases that she never heard. Reina was not very tech-savvy.

When the assignment was given, Reina looked worried, but took out a piece of paper to write down what she knew:

"Reina is from a post apocalyptic world set in the distant future (although it isn't discovered until later that it was truly meant to be the total anihiliation of humanity and it had somehow been an incomplete apocalyptic event). There are a lot of fantasy elements in this story, considering that she exists as an elf, but the setting occurs on Earth. There are a few elements of soft sci-fi (for instance, humans who've chosen to be spliced with animal DNA to gain some animalistic appearances).

Her genre would likely be epic, since she is only one of the main characters in her story (and it happens to get convoluted as the story progresses). Her genre could also be considered a next generation story, since her particular story revolves around and includes children from the previous main cast (who had saved the world before from the completed apocalypse). Said previous main cast have become adults and have been relegated to secondary character status while her own group of characters now become chosen to prevent the apocalypse...again."

Once she was done with her assignment, she checked it over. Reading it through again only made her sad and so she flipped the page over to prevent anyone else from reading it. Her home world was rather rough to people like her, and despite every effort from Reina to be polite and kind, people still had problems giving her the benefit of the doubt (or they thought she was too weak to do much). Being here in this world was a good reprieve of that, and she didn't want to waste the time she had here thinking of what she had waiting back home.

Sigma stood scowling as he gave in to the drawing's tuggings, but D'cund would not be budged.

"I would be too much of a burden."

And with that, the finger Isa was tugging on popped right off his hand. Without a moment's hesitation Sigma quickly stepped forward to stabilise the drawing just in case she might've stumbled. He held her by the shoulders with both of his hands until she was sure she was balanced and then returned his clawed hand to his pocket and his other to his side.

D'cund felt a bit bad about this and rumbled out an apology, "Ahhhh, Ahpologes..."

Of course while this went on their workbooks filled with information on their respective genres.

D'cund's genre is a multi-era classical/medieval fantasy epic. He is not the main character, instead playing a recurring role as more stories progress around his own. D'cund's personal story is somewhere between adventure, political-drama, thriller, and comedy. As his is a background story his world is littered with political intrigue, romance, etc etc.

Sigma's genre is a mid-modern soft sci-fi catastrophic adventure. Why catastrophic? The events taking place in the story are not large enough to be considered apocalyptic. Sigma's story goes between tragedy, horror, slasher, and black comedy. There are light references of romance and occasionally paranormal.

Both of these have plenty of action moments.

Alex's notebook performed the same trick, after turning its own page to the assigned place.
-Alex comes from a Modern era, but with fantasy, and some super hero elements thrown in. It's basically real world meets mythology and the secrets behind a few things and people are very different than how regular people "know" them by.
It's very Adventure based, with Alex and his friends moving around the US a lot. There's a little bit of romance involved, but its more of a side story than anything, taking precedence after the main story has been resolved. There are references to the main story progresses but nothing serious is done until after.-

Alex nodded to each of the girl's as they responded to him. He was glad to be part of the conversation now. They didn't seem too bad and he might have made a connection with Zane through their interests. "That's fine. I can wait.", he replied to the other boy as Isa brought over the raptor person.

Reina's comment grabbed his attention and he raised an eyebrow. He shrugged it off though. Maybe she wasn't as tech-smart as he and Zane were or maybe she didn't have that tech where she came from. "Streaming means that he can watch it directly as things occur. Think of it as a live performance but through a means of technology." He noticed the elf girl filled out her workbook page and then flipped it quickly to hide its contents. Was she embarrassed of her life? This assignment wasn't as bad as some of the previous so Alex was fine if anyone saw it. It didn't mean he was going to explain it in depth to them, but at least they would have an idea of where he came from.

He tucked his phone away in his pocket without a second thought and nodded in agreement with Alex's explanation. "That's right. Reina, it's basically as you put it earlier: the marble sends me everything as it's happening." Like Alex, Zane also noticed the elf girl's resignation of her assignment to obscurity, but he made no mention of it.

"If I was perfectly neglectful of my own work, I'd propose we'd play a marbles game right now." Ha, a joke. But that wasn't the main purpose of his statement. He put his hand on the table, so that it would be out of view from all but Reina and Alex, and wagged his finger at Evan's direction. "And I'd invite him along too."

Grumbling accompanied by a string of muffled curses came from outside the room's walls. Class was clearly in session; though that didn't stop a stout and hairy looking man from lumbering in, fully dressed in fatigues. With one hand scratching at his crotch and the other picking at an unkempt beard, the furry little man raised an eyebrow and gaped for just a moment.

He took a small step back and twisted his head to give the hallway a curious look before finally settling his gaze on the class. A crooked little smile crossed his face, eyes clearly addressing (or undressing) the women in the room.

The man pulled out and waved his academy invitation around in the teacher's face, his golden ticket. "Not whut I thought, but what are ya learning us, Teach?"

The teacher had been looking at a map when the stout little man walked in and waved a paper in his face. Vay held up his hands, leaning back with an arched brow as he looked the man over, checked the badges on his uniform, then gave him a wry grin. "Have a seat, Private," he half ordered nodding to the desks where the other students were chatting. "We're working on a little introspection currently so why don't you introduce yourself to the class and tell us a bit about the person pulling your strings while yer at it," he pointed up to the shadow controlling the man.

"Jim Kirklan's tha name. Part of a special unit in tha military. Do tha kind'uve stuff tha regulars just 'eint cut out for. Like myself some women and brew- together's best." He chortled and then gave the puppeteer shadow something of an uneasy look.

"Not too sure 'bout that one, Teach. Sounds like a hag at the rate of its nagging." The soldier twisted a finger around in his ear, "Has lots of puppets it looks like, but 'eint used to this kind'uve setting. Been in the game fer 'bout ten years an' calls itself Kirian." His face paled, "Think it fancies me."

The soldier eyed the shadow a moment longer and then trotted to an empty seat at the back.

The teacher just smiled and nodded at most of the soldier's introduction but arched a brow with a wry grin at the last and shrugged. "No accountin' for taste," Vay muttered as he turned to the rest of the class. "Well, while we wait for the new boot to get caught up let's give him another assignment to worry about," the teacher grinned at the class.

"First a brief review, in no semblance of order. You've got your concepts, which is a basic sum of who/what you are. To expand that a bit you did a very basic profile with the standard information. Some of you did strengths/weaknesses. Some did backgrounds. Some did the archetype and personality test. Some did the genre. Well, now we're going to revisit personality by defining an important aspect of it - your alignment.

"Now, some of you are wondering what's an alignment? The rest of you have just confirmed me as D&D nerd. For those of you who've never read a PHB, or know what that is, an alignment is a basic measure of your moral compass. Because personality types can swing both ways on the moral scale it's good to have something that says how good, or bad, you are.

"A person's alignment is made up of two parts: Law vs Chaos, and Good vs Evil. The Law/Chaos part tells how you view law, rules, authority, institutions, and structure in general. Good/Evil is pretty self explanatory - where you sit on being an evil b*****d. Now then, both these scales have a Neutral position as well for those of us in the middle - most people are lawful neutral (this is actually a heated debate with D&D nerds, feel free to express your opinion on the matter). Lawful because we're not in jail and neutral because we're selfish but not malicious. That said, some people actually care enough about others (particularly the heroic types) to be in the good scale. Of course there's also those (hopefully few) that actually are evil and some people are crazy/non-conventional enough to fall into chaotic.

"To make things easy for all of us, here's the official D&D website's Alignment Test. Don't get intimidated by the ties to an actual gaming system. You're not going to have to do any math for this. It's just an easy little quiz you go through and answer as your character to find out what their alignment is in the end. The page has a lot of good explanation on the alignments as well so I'm not going to write it out here. If you don't understand something, please, ask questions in class. Please.

"Also, a brief note on gaming systems - they are good things. With every new edition of most systems they get less and less reliant on complex algebra (who remembers THAC0?) and more focused on making the game inviting to new players, something to do with marketing. These systems generally come with incredibly rich and well developed worlds in which you can play - complete with maps, NPCs, and books full of lore. If you're just starting out as a GM I highly suggest using one of the established game system's worlds. A few systems to check out: D&D, Shadowrun, Cyberpunk (GURPS), FATE (I hear very good things about this one though haven't tried it), White Wolf, and many more I'm having trouble remembering this early."

"Ack!" The drawing had no idea that D'cund had (for lack of better word) let go of himself, and she would have fallen backwards on the floor had Sigma not caught her. "Thanks Sigma!" She gave him a hug while the rock creature apologized. Isa waved his apology away. "No worries. I shouldn't have tried to push you into moving if you didn't want to. Still, I really doubt anyone will mind you moving around in the room."

Reina had been more focused on listening to the explanations the boys had. It was really odd that something as small as a marble and obscure as a marble could be so useful.

When the new man came into the room, Reina chose to clutch a pencil and her sketchbook close to her. She wasn't afraid of the new person per say, but his expression didn't make her feel comfortable at all. "I-I've actually taken this test before," Reina mumbled. "I turned out to be neutral good."

Evan sighed after he took the test. "I am also a neutral good." He thought about his alignment for a second before beginning a drawing.

After a moment of drawing, the sketchbook closed again and Evan let himself look around the room. He felt bad for not interacting with anyone here, but he wasn't used to getting to know people. Amethyst eyes turning to Reina, he figured he could try to talk to the other neutral good here.

"Hey," he began. "Can I see your drawings?"

"Hope you do not mind my skipping the genre since you did mine for me," Lloyd said. "As for alignment - chaotic neutral. I really do not think I am going to surprise anyone by saying this." He shrugged. "Looking out for number one, as I do believe the saying goes. Also, I think Alex - the player, Venom, sorry," he added with an apologetic look to the character of the same name, "Has something to say about some systems."

"That I do. That list is pretty good, but it's missing one pretty notable system that I can think of - Savage Worlds. That's to say nothing of minor, oftentimes light (rules-wise) systems like things well-suited to fast and/or silly pick-up-and-play like Wushu, Everyone Is John, or Maid RPG (yes, really). Also, there are more specific systems that are fairly narrow in scope like Paranoia, Rogue Trader, Abney Park's recent Airship Pirates project, etc. Then there's also the REALLY silly, REALLY light systems like Roll to Dodge."

More personality tests? Eh, easy enough, he thought as he selected the various radio buttons that matched what he might consider himself doing. It turned out that he was Neutral Good as well. In the back of his mind, he toyed with the idea of whether or not she was familiar with the world of tabletop gaming. In addition to tabletop gaming like those Vay had listed, he was aware of the existence of RPG video games (as well as the distinction between Eastern and Western ones) and the free form ones that took place on sites like Livejournal and DeviantArt. On top of that, forum RPing seemed to have idiosyncrasies of its own, with each thread taking its premise from one or some from each of the three aforementioned types of role-playing, depending on the GM's tastes.

The teacher was speaking, and Zane pocketed his phone and looked up to see who Vay was talking to. Hey, a new one. He remembered being in the same position only a few hours prior, although by now it felt like it had been months ago. The only catch was, Zane doubted he was anywhere as obnoxious as this one. He paid the newcomer little mind whilst he took a seat in the back corner.

Someone was asking for Reina's attention, so Zane turned his gaze to Alex and then to Isa. His jaw slackened in surprise. "You're telling him to come over him? Are you insane?" he asked, making no effort to hide the incredulity in his voice as he made an observation of the number of desks and chairs that stood in the shortest distance the rock hominoid would have to traverse across.

"We could just move over there." He gathered his belongings and waved briefly at Reina, Alex and Evan. "Come on." He'd been hoping for the chance to bug that end of the room.

((Edited slightly: flipped Reina & Alex's names in para3.))

Alex noted the newcomer that had arrived. He looked rough around the edges, but seemed like a decent fellow. That was until he spoke. There was a flicker of irritation that flew across Alex's face for a moment. He detested those types of people that spoke that sort of vulgar language. He looked the part for being a military person, but still.......
After a long time and much consulting with others, Dragn finally poked at Alex with an answer. Alex nodded and raised his hand and spoke up. "According to Dragn's research I'm a lawful neutral, Mr. Vay. But judging on the things he's read, he does have a question. Is there a difference between a lawful neutral and a so called "true" neutral"?"
He noticed that Reina nervously clutched at her things as Kirian entered the room. He didn't blame her. His gaze wasn't exactly pure in its intentions, he could tell.
He heard his name being said and his attention flicked over the the other elf in the room, though he realized he was referring to a different Alex and not him. He nodded and waved a hand as if to say 'don't worry about it'.
He heard Zane speak and turned his attention to what was going on and found the drawing of Reina's(Isa was her name right?) was bringing the rock guy and the raptor guy over. He nodded at Zane's suggestion and grabbed his bag and his notebook up from the desk to follow him. He turned to Reina and Evan. "You guys coming too?"

Reina looked surprised at the request but shyly smiled. "Oh um, sure." Thankfully for the rest of the class, Reina had a (mostly) firm grip on her magical ability, so the pictures that she had in her sketchbook wouldn't be as..."lively" as Isa.

She was about to open her sketchbook and show him some pictures when people seemed to want to move. Reina understood - it wouldn't have been easy to move D'cund over to them as it would be for them to go to him. The elf gave Evan a sympathetic look and said, "once we move over there, I'll show you my drawings." She blushed lightly, "and please don't worry. The rest of my sketches won't try and jump out at anyone."

Isa meanwhile, looked at Zane and stated, "I'm surprised it took this long for anyone to ask. But no, I think I just have a bit of a problem with common sense." Then again, it came down to the question of which was easier to move: a group of people or a single being? I probably shouldn't have underestimated that the single person was made of rock or that the desks would be so annoyingly in the way.
