Officer Edward looked around, walking his patrol beat. No problems so far.

((Officer Edward, my second character, will only be present for short in-town cameos as needed. He will not be a regular part of the caravan. ...I think. *shrugs*))

Kohl stops somewhere near the back end of the Pokemon Center. At least, she thinks she's near there. It's always easy to get lost in a city - not lost, exactly. She can always get -out-, just pick a direction and get walking. When the buildings stop, you know it worked. Knowing where you are, and how to get where you need to be is a different matter entirely. Not that she'd admit that she was ever -lost-. She's always exactly where she intends to be. The journey is 151% of the fun, after all. Tonight's journey end's here, the thinks.

The alley before her, that Worf is investigating thoroughly, is clean as ally's go. Not too narrow. Dry. And apparently unoccupied. The dumpster to one side seems to be used mostly for paper and other innocuous trash. Kohl considers. The park they'd passed seemed well defended. The Pokemon center would probably not appreciate a released arcanine, and Kohl would rather not get on the beast's bad side by restraining him before joining in on a long period of relatively close quarter travel. He certainly wouldn't mind being her guardian statue for her tonight. If they got unwanted visitors, by morning he'd probably be in an ever better mood. While savaging innocents wasn't on the list of allowable violences, the same could not be said about the people who sought to harm a poor, vulnerable woman on the streets. Hah.

Kohl waves Taka over and unpacks a tarp and bedroll, scrapes clear a space deeper in the ally with her boot, where the dumpster might block the view to most foot traffic, and lays them down. Prep complete, she retires.

"Taka, guard."

You could say that the rusty dog looked pleased to seat himself, sphinx like, several feet back from the alley's entrance. It's times like these he was thankful for having hatched with the innate ability to "intimidate" his foes. The weaklings stayed back. Worthy opponents, he told himself, were more filling.

Ed sweeps his view from one side of the street to the other. He's checking the alleyways now, looking for trouble before it turns into bigger trouble. The streetlights flicker, providing rather weak light in the nighttime gloom. Like most cities though, it's never fully dark. He's almost to the alley of the fancy stationary store two buildings down from the Pokemon center when he feels the hair on the back of his neck rise.

Pulling out both his nightstick and flashlight (a sturdy piece of equipment that can and has doubled as a nightstick itself), he walks carefully up to the mouth of the alley. He abruptly finds himself staring at an entirely different mouth. One full of sharp teeth. Behind the Arcanine, he thinks he can see the edge of a sleeping bag. Ed looks at the large dog calmly.

One must never make the first move. The dog looks back, equally calm, so calm, why, he might just feel a yawn coming on. How me manages to give a convincing yawn while maintaining eye contact, we may never know. Unless it wast very convincing. That's probably it. No real yawn showed quite so many teeth.

Ed raised an eyebrow. "Uh-huh. You think I'm impressed, boy? Ain't like officers aren't used to Growlithe lines. Why don't you go wake your master up?" Ed suggested firmly.

Taka remains seated, though an ear momentarily flicks back. His mistress may or may not be asleep, her breathing is even, but she's not moved to correct him, either, so guard is still the active command. The pup, on the other hand, is half draped over her midsection, snoring softly. Children.

He focuses his attention completely on the human male before him once more, disdainful. He's not so tame that he's forgotten where to bite a man to make it count. He'd say as much, but what good would it do? Humans were all deaf.

((Hehe! FFN gave permission for Ed to battle against HikerKhol's Arcanine. No, not Ed's pokemon, Ed, the human officer. Armed with a nightstick, a flashlight, (maybe) a whistle, and (possibly) a tazer, Ed is going to battle an Arcanine. This might take longer than tonight, so I'm creating a separate battle thread. Come Here to watch the madness!))

((That's multiple layers of epic. xD))

Reis looked on from afar at the confrontation between the arcanine and the officer, Jeanne on her shoulder. Normally, she might have done something to diffuse the situation, but normally a pokemon and person don't engage in battle, either. She decided to get to higher ground to have a better vantage point, and so she ran for the nearest hill, humming all the while.

((Okay guys, the Ed VS Taka battle is still happening, but it isn't happening here. In other words, We are now skipping to the morning. If you want to watch the epic battle between human and pokemon, feel free. For now, it is now just before dawn the day we leave! Let's get ready to meet up and move out!))

User ImageShina finished tying her obi and looked around. Yes, everything was packed, the saddlebags were arranged with a few things she might need for the day out of the item balls, things she wouldn't need until they made camp packed away, and nothing left in the room.

Satisfied, Shina walked out to the main area. "Hello Nurse Joy," she greeted the cheerful nurse. "Here are those flyers with the planned route, if anyone asks. We'll be leaving in about forty-five minutes, a half-hour past full sun-up. I'm guessing there will probably be a lot of stragglers who simply won't be here by then. And thank you so much for setting up the buffet. I know you don't normally offer such a spread," Shina said.

"Oh, no problem at all, have a nice trip!" Nurse Joy replied.

Shina walked over to the breakfast buffet she had paid for. Breakfast bread, pastries, fresh fruit, and bottled beverages featured prominently, all things that could be eaten on the go, and would stay good in travel bags. There was more than enough for all of the people Shina had met the day before, but Nurse Joy had assured her any extras wouldn't go to waste between unaffiliated trainers and their pokemon later in the day. Shina took a large ham and cheese croissant for herself, tucked an apple for Rasha into the saddlebags currently slung over her own shoulders, and after some consinderation, also wrapped up a piece of nut bread for Tenka. The sun was just starting to peek over the horizon. Hopefully trainers would be arriving soon.

The ecru tips of the large Pidgeot sliced the dawn's gradient hue against the sky, splitting the horizon and cement forest known as Katarina like a broad ulu. His cry, long and soft, broke the tension as he slowly made his descent downwards. With a few heavy beats than a final landing thump, the Bird Pokemon puffed up in front of the center and lowered himself for his trainer to get the hell off. She slid off in a bubbly trip, hanging onto the joint of her Pidgeot's wing to steady herself.

Since her leaving the evening before, Claramay had downed the drinks like crazy 'til early morn. When she finally chose to slumber, her body only agreed to a few hours before it pushed her to get to the caravan's meeting location. She was slightly hung over but still utterly tipsy from her escapades. From afar, it looked as though she was mustering up a new dance with her first Pokemon.

"Oiiii, Shina, h-hey!" she called than held her temple. Man, she screamed kind loud there, didn't she? "W-Where is everyone else? Oh man, am I late?" She put her hand to her cheek, chuckled a little, than swallowed the extra drivel wanting to sputter from her mouth.

Deneb Algenubi just stared with disgust.

The silenced Cetus longed for a black joe, fresh cig, and slice of Nanab bread. It was going to be a looong day.

Shina blinked. Then blinked again. Then, as tactfully as she could, Shina suggested "Oh, Mrs. Pearls. You look like you could use a cup of coffee. And no, you're the first. Do you feel like breakfast? We have a lovely buffet."

Flint yawned a bit as he entered the Pokemon centers main lobby, he had stayed there for the night not having anywhere else to go. He waved in greeting to the two women he he had met yesterday " Mornin' ladies" he said. Maya clung to his shoulder and eyed the breakfast table as Flint made his way to it. He selected a blueberry muffin for himself and offered a slice of the nut bread to Maya who accepted it gratefully.

Natalie walked into the Pokemon Center with her Emolga sitting on her shoulder. She looked around the building and then saw Shina. Natalie then walked up to her, "Hi Shina! I just remembered that I forgot to grab my bike."

Dusty looked at her trainer. ""

"Hello Flint, Natalie. Here, no problem Natalie," Shina said, digging out one of the bike capsules for her. "Here you go. Have a bite to eat," she said, gesturing to the buffet. Looking at the other two Emolga, Shina released Tenka.

"No running off this time, got it?" Shina said, handing him the piece of bread she had grabbed for him. Tenka fluffed his tail at her, took the bread, and wandered over toward Maya.

"Thank you Shina." Natalie replied before taking the capsule and walking towards the buffet. She grabbed a bottled beverage and two pieces of fresh fruit, one for herself and the other one she gave to Dusty.

"" Dusty asks while looking at the bike capsule. Then, the fruit took her attention away from the capsule. She took the piece of fruit in her mouth before jumping off her trainer's shoulder to eat.

"Did you want more Dusty?" Natalie asked her Pokemon who doesn't seemed to be paying attention. She shrugged then started to eat the fruit that she was holding.
