Now we chat with Nero-K about Wolf O'Donnell! Please note this interview has been edited for spoiler-esque content. Read at your discretion!

"So
Wolf is your favorite character huh? What and where was your first experience with Wolf?"
Nero-K
Yes Wolf is by far my favorite character. I guess its just based around my personal aspect. My first experience was with StarFox 64. The first time I set my eyes on Wolf, and the way he acted to Fox automatically triggered something inside me. All I could think was "OMG, this is the Vegeta of Starfox, I love him". Thats were my addiction began.

"I see. In your opinion, how good do you think he is in Brawl?"

Nero-K
In Brawl? To me he is perfect. I love the way he can alter combos, and how he lags just a tiny bit, but can spike, and lead characters the air with his kicks. He is my main in Brawl, and I never see that changing.

"Do you think they did a good job of applying Falcon's Law to Wolf? (that's where they give an original moveset to a char who doesn't normally fight hand-to hand)"
Nero-K
At first I was a bit iffy with the claws and all. I mean I see Wolf using brute force. Say like Axe handle smashes, strong stomping, and roundhouse kicks. But the way that Sakurai rounded his moves pleases me. Now I cant see him without the moves he got now. So yes, they did a great job!

"Now on a more comical note... do you remember this particular YouTube video?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ezpgf0fE8U
lol H-how funny did you think
Wolf's Landmaster mishap was?"

Nero-K
Heh, I am quite upset at the Landmaster for Wolf. Wolf himself has never ever used one. and the same for Falco. Falco even states in SF64 that he'd take the air anyday over the landmaster. But besides that, Wolf's favorite weapon is his Wolfen. That should of been his FS. So yes, slightly dumbstruck at the idea.

Either way, Im a Wolf fanboy through-in-through. And the days I play online with you guys, expect me to be using the uptight Wolf. <3

Okay! Remind me to ask for your FCs later on! Thanks for your opinions and stating them here on N Cult News!

Now we come to everyone's favorite Cultie, Lady Psycho Sexy, and her love of the Ganbare Goemon series! Personally, that's turning into a favorite for me too! mrgreen

"So, Goemon, huh? What was the first game you played starring this Robin Hood of the Oedo Era?"

Lady Psycho Sexy
Legend of the Mystical Ninja on the SNES. Thirteen years and I still haven't beaten it. sweatdrop The password feature on my cartridge is broken, so I'm kinda screwed.

"Hmm. Sometimes old cartridges tend to get weary. Sad, but it happens. So, of the four heroes of the series (Goemon, Ebisumaru, Sasuke, and Yae), which one is your total favorite and why?"

Lady Psycho Sexy
Ebisumaru. Here's why. Need I say more? He's epic, man. Epic.

eek "...Well, that is epic! Of course I've heard the skill he uses involving that is very useful! I personally like Yae. There's something about green hair that's... exciting...

Uh, um... next question! "One of the more recent things they've done with the Goemon series was revamp it to a more present day adventure. Some things were changed, such as Goemon's sidekick Ebisumaru being a girl named Ebisu instead. Here's some gameplay from the GBA game:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=BTT89aqvFyM
What do you think of this spin on the series?"

Lady Psycho Sexy
I hate this game, even after watching it for only three minutes. It's horrible. Put them back in feudal Japan, leave the chibi style of the characters intact, and for the love of God, turn Ebisumaru back into a crazy fat guy!

"Duly noted. Even though Ebisu is kinda cute, I agree with you!

Now here's good question! Since Goemon is a Konami character, what would you say iif HE were in Brawl instead of Snake, who is also Konami?"

Lady Psycho Sexy
Goemon should be in Brawl, not Snake. It's a ******** injustice, and if I ever come face-to-face with Sakurai, I'm going to beat him upside the head with a giant gold pipe. That'll teach him to completely ignore my favorite franchise. mad

Ho-ho! Now there's an answer! blaugh Snake fans watch out!

Thank you LPS, your feedback is much apreciated! So let's give it up for Goemon!

You gotta love a response that involves beating someone upside the head with a lead pipe, however, being the SNK fan that I am, I probably would have given him a burning knuckle, or a raging storm....or a REPPUKEN!

I wonder when Tatsu and I get our interview...

Probably the same reason why SNK Playmore has a 5 year waiting period before North America received KOF XI and Neo-Geo Battle Colosseum.

Probably market is just so small that it's just not cost effective to send it to North America right away if at all.

Liability reasons, of course. It's too awesome for the rest of the planet to handle and if they released every Ganbare Goemon game worldwide, players' heads would explode from the sheer awesomeness of the complete series. Can you imagine the lawsuits?

Now we come to Tatsuman, and his two cents about the world's fastest hedgehog, Sonic the Edgehog! Sorry, since he's in Brawl, I couldn't resist! xd Now let's begin!

"Sonic is such a mega-classic. Although this may be an obvious question, which was the first Sonic game you played? How did you come to find out about this game?"

Tatsuman
Actually, Sonic 2. A friend of my mom's babysat me when I was 3 or 4, and she had a Genesis. I played Sonic 2 and fell in love with it instantly.
The speed, the music, and the simplicity drew me to it, I think. I've been hooked ever since. My mom sold an old ring for the money to buy me my own Genesis. That's when I finally played Sonic 1. Didn't like it as much as Sonic 2, but I still loved it.

"I see. I remember when I first played Sonic 1 and 2. My older bro helped me with the boss. Now I can do it myself; that's why i got Sonic Mega Collection! So, have you enjoyed every other Sonic game to follow? Or have there been some that could've been better?"

Tatsuman
Sonic Labrynth for the Game Gear was pretty terrible. The worst Sonic game in existence, in my opinion. It was a top down game, and Sonic had no speed. Not to mention all the environments were checkerboard tiles. The object of the game was to smash the enemies, and find the keys. If you got hit, you lost all of your keys, rather than rings. This wouldn't be a problem, except that the depth perception in this game is one of the worst I've seen. You could spindash them rather than trying to jump on them, but it's uncontrollable. Too fast for the top down feel.
Other than it's control issues, it's just no fun to play at all.

Sonic 3-D suffered from the same problems, but not as pronounced. Environments were beautiful, but it wasn't very fun to play either.

Aside from those, almost every game after SA2. Sonic Rush and the Sonic Advance series were good though.

"Ah yeah, those were some good games. I especially enjoyed the music! Are you looking forward to any Sonic games in the future?"

Tatsuman
The only one I'm even thinking about buying is the New RPG. It's not being made by Sonic Team, so they can't screw it up. And if anyone can make a Sonic RPG work, it's Bioware.
Other than that I don't have much faith in the Sonic series.

"I've heard of that upcoming game. I think it was called Sonic Chronicle: The Dark Brotherhood. Seems interesting...

Now Sonic being in Brawl is a BIG thing, and seeing as you have the game, you've been able to experience his top-class speed alongside the Nintendo greats! How has he been for you?"

Tatsuman
Better than I thought, actually. Fast, good combo ability, great recovery, spindash [/inside joke]
I have fun playing with him, and I'm pretty good with him as well, I'd like to think.

"Now, I've noticed something... A new feature added in Brawl is that EVERY character can now swim for a bit. Despite this, do you see it as a little... odd that Sonic can swim, despite his past experiences with water, including the infamous 'countdown'?"

Tatsuman
Yes. I thought it was pretty weird. In the games, the shows, the comics, water is always Sonic's weakness. Even in Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games he wore a life vest for water events.
I was actually hoping the same for Brawl...guess not. Sonic swimming still looks odd...though I guess Sonic with a life vest does too... xd

"Okay then. Last question. Local Cultie Dark Super Sonic seems to share a rivalry with you as being the best Sonic as can be. How confident would you feel doing battle with him, Sonic vs. Sonic?"

Tatsuman
I didn't see what we had as so much as a rivalry, as that we are both just Sonic mains. We aren't competing as far as I know, but I'd have a match with him anytime. I love playing Brawl, and I'm always up for a match.

As am I, friend. Remind me to ask for your FC later on! I'm defienitely looking forward to the battles that lie ahead! Thanks for your feedback!

Good interview. I haven't played Brawl yet, let alone even have a Wii, but Sonic, along with Meta Knight and Ike are characters I've been eying myself.

Pff, Sonic? Luigi is obviously the best.

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Mephisto mini game review. I've been asked by TtheHero to enlighten some people in here who are not as knowledgeable on the great SNK franchise, so I'm more than happy to help. I think I'm gonna start with one of my favorite games done by them, as well as one of my favorite games of all time:

Fatal Fury Special (Neo-Geo/Arcade)

Fatal Fury Special came out in 1993 for the Neo-Geo arcade system and eventually brought to the Neo-Geo home system as well as the SNES and Sega Genesis (although both of those ports are not as good as the original Arcade/Neo-Geo version.) The game basically is a beefed up version of Fatal Fury 2 but unlike Street Fighter 2, we didn't see 10 million different remakes of this game, they got it right with the first remake. The game features all of the cast from Fatal Fury 2 (Terry Bogard, Andy Bogard, Joe Higashi, Mai Shiranui, Big Bear, Jubei Yamada, Kim Kaphwan, and Cheng Sinzan), as well as some of the cast from Fatal Fury 1 (Duck King, Tung Fu Rue, and Geese Howard.) Also, the bosses from Fatal Fury 2 (Billy Kane, Axel Hawk, Lawrence Blood, and Wolfgang Krauser) are now available to use, as well as a secret character (Ryo Sakazaki of Art of Fighting) who you can fight if you meet certain criteria (do not lose a single fight.) Ryo is playable however only through 2 player mode (Neo-geo home addition, as well as the version on the PS2 compilation Fatal Fury Battle Archives Volume 1.) The graphics are slightly tweaked from the last game, new stages are added (for the extra characters.) The soundtrack for this game is awesome, and probably my second favorite video game soundtrack of all time. The audio in general is great for the neo-geo release of the game. The voices sound pretty clear for it's time. Nothing is more epic than fighting Wolfgang Krauser at the end of the game with his theme playing and hearing, "I'll chisel your gravestone...sleep well!" in crisp sound quality. Fatal Fury 2/Special is the first fighting game to feature a super move system, or in this case Desperation move system (although Capcom takes credit with Super Street Fighter Turbo, however, any SNK fan can tell you otherwise.) The level designs are also very good, giving detail to the levels that you couldn't find in Street Fighter 2. The Fatal Fury games in general have something the Street Fighter games never had also, which is the ability to change planes when fighting, meaning that you could jump into the background (also into the foreground in later games.) In all honesty, Fatal Fury Special is greater than Street Fighter 2 and all of it's updates combined. This would definitely be my favorite fighting game, no contest. I give Fatal Fury Special a 10/10.

Here is some video of Fatal Fury Special gameplay (Of course I'd have the man Geese Howard be in this video clip):
