You know you're a band geek:
When your instructor let's you drive his or her vehicle to run band errands.
When watching television your hands start playing paradiddles without thinking.
When you wake up in the middle of the night startled, because you were hearing the drum cadence perfectly in your dream.
When you are the last one out to an athletic (football, track, basketball) practice because you were playing your instrument in the band room instead of changing for practice.
When you feel the need to explain athletic means sports and not marching band.
When as a senior you cry during your last performance.
When the idea of the John Phillips Sousa band award actually means the world to you.
When you can understand that band trips are so much more than any other field trip.
When you feel so comfortable around each other the band director gets complaints about "half naked people on band buses" (you gotta change into uniform right?).
When you'd rather spend every study hall talking with your band director about next years music for contest, who will be playing what, and are trusted to make the decisions.
When pep band is the best part of the year.
When you come back to play pep band after you graduate.
When you can understand the rivalry between Trumpets and Percussion as the leading section (and realize it IS the percussion).
When band members from other schools become better friends than those you've known since grade school.
