Lots of fish and a variety, too! Packtail, silverfish, bluefish, and even a few spiderclaws! Tasty, tasty!

It was quite the haul, and Shoxiel couldn't deny that he was quite happy with himself. A small variety of different fish; from bluefish, silverfish, spiderclaws, and even some packtail. The different flavors would be wonderful, and he couldn't deny he couldn't wait to see what they would be turned into.

Character: Sablie

Sablie had gotten herself a net and was humming to herself as she put it into the water. She didn't really know much about the Seacraft, but she would do her best. While going back home wasn't a terrible thing for her, she did want to stay in the Weyr. That and she knew some of her fellow candidates did not come from very good homes. So if she could help them stay too, even better, in her opinion. She didn't think she would get much luck her first time out, but she was pleasantly surprised when she felt a tug on the net. She pulled it up and saw it was brimming with silverfish.

"Oh, wonderful!"she chirped up.

T'mul of brown Braraith - 5

The brown rider had no problem helping the Weyr. While he wasn't a fisherman, T'mul was ready to put in the work and learn what had to be done. He was used to working long days before he Impressed, and honestly, found the idea of having more work to do appealing. This new task meant he had less time thinking about Jalle, lost friends, and the emptiness he now found within his weyr.

Unfortunately for T'mul, he wasn't a fisherman, and working a net and various lines had their own challenges. The slice of his hand had him quietly cursing beneath his breath. "I'm all right, I'm all right," he exclaimed, even as he hid his hand, and pressed it tight against tunic. The haul he'd been happy to pull in had been lost to the sea once more, but there was nothing to be done about it. Instead, it was time to take a trip to the infirmary, to see the extent of the damage.

((Damage is....

1. Nothing but a flesh wound! It stings, but will heal within a sevenday.

2. This one is going to leave a scar. It will heal, but it's going to hurt! You'll still be able to fish, but you might want to wear some gloves.

3. The wound wasn't terrible, but it becomes infected! This will prevent you from fishing for a sevenday [skip the next week's rolls].

4. Ouch! This is deep. You have either lost a finger, or have cut into a nerve. This means you are out for the remainder of the game, and your grip will be permanently weakened. Take an extra -5 points for this roll ))

A dragon (your dragon maybe?) becomes a floating platform. He or she takes you (and his or her rider if it's not yours) a little bit further from shore. They mus have been lucky because you wind up catching quite a haul! Some yellowgills, redfins, and a rare green shellback are all brought in to be salted, boiled, smoked, and dried. Tasty! +10 points

Karinne found that fishing gave her a touch too much time to herself to think about this or that - mostly about the twins, safe and warm in the creche and how nightly she missed them. She'd been spared true postpartum but now she felt an ache from their absence that while M'lus doted and loved and adored her, he didn't quite fit that particular needy niche.

The water feels good here, Hrimnith informed her, having paddled idly out into the water with his rider sitting astride his back while she waited on her line.

It would be a fruitful day for fishing once again. Hopefully they'd all have such luck.

As you begin to reel in the net or line, you are overpowered by a strong wave, and your catch is set free. Shardit! That had been a good haul, too! Nonriders or riders without XP points, take -5 points. If you are a rider, your dragon is able to support you, and you manage to bring in a full net of packtails. Riders with XP points add 5 points to their total.

Nua wasn't a fisherman by any stretch and the chore of fishing had been one she'd not been very good at.Their last go at it hadn't been exactly phenomenal and briefly as the net she'd been tending to (with some help) swayed and threatened to be lost to the waters, Sobeth called out to her.

It's still within your grasp, my love. Take it up. While coarse, she had nothing but love and support and urged Nua to move just a bit more quickly.

It'd make a fine haul.

You're fishing with a pole today, standing on the small floating dock.
You see the bobber go under, and pull up hard. Sure enough, there's a whopper at the end of the line. It's a fight, and you can tell you've snagged the largest packtail you've ever seen. Unfortunately you yank too hard and the line snaps. Not only is your pole now useless, but the big one gets away.
Worse, your fishing luck the rest of the sevenday seems to follow suit... You wind up with a whole lot of nothin'. -10 points

Kadosse wasn't one for hard labor, even though she tried and kept her head up. She was just a little too soft, a little too weak, and trying to fight with a pole hurt her hands. So when the line had fought with her harder than she had any capacity for she'd let whatever was on the other end win.

Because when the line snapped it left her hands raw and she really put up a pathetic effort after that.

You decide to take a chance not on the water, but by hunting and scavenging on the beach itself. It seems to be successful! +5 points.

She'd dislocated her shoulder during Threadfall and hadn't much felt up to handling a pole or a heavy net and aggravating it farther - so she'd instead opted for the less-straining task of foraging along the coast.

Quote:
While hunting the beach, you you find a newly hatched baby firelizard! The hungry being demands tribute, and you have no choice but to give in! Thankfully, you have a few snacks stashed to ensure this little flit doesn't go hungry. Well, this is an unexpected surprise... Roll a D20 to see what color, and Quote Uta!

Food wasn't an impossibility from the coast - she'd grown a taste for even the waterlogged foliage and shells that washed up or could be found knees-depth into the water. It was enjoyable enough to Aryale and Yaguareth at least found it amusing. Almost as amusing as the look on the young woman's face when she heard it - the cry of something small and hungry.

"Oh, hello there hungry boy - let's see what I've got..." Aryale looked over her own foraged loot thus far before she took her knife to crack open one of the mussels, offering the tender flesh from inside of it to the little brown who gobbled it up eagerly. She'd not been looking for a fourth, but....she'd not just leave him to fend for himself!

With his bad luck at fishing behind him (and, perhaps, more focused), the bronzerider is delighted as his net doesn't fail him. The glimmering scales of a net full of silverfish look absolutely delicious. The minor confidence boost at being able to get a decent haul finally certainly would have Amrit walking a bit taller for the rest of the day.

T'mul of brown Braraith
His hand was still bandaged, and though sore, T'mul was still able to help fish. Unfortunately, once again, he lost the haul he was bringing when a large wave completely wiped him out. Mine! Do you need me?! His beloved had spent his time watching anxiously from shore. T'mul had thought keeping him on the beach might keep his moving from scaring away the fish... but the brown rider hadn't expected the water to be so strong.

Soaked to the bone, and sputtering on salt water, the brown rider pulled himself back up to his feet. No, no, 'm all right. His pride was wounded but so far, that was about all his fishing was good for.

Well that didn't go as planned. You thought you were pulling in a whopper, but instead all it turns out to be is an ancient, slimey, and very unsalvageable boot tangled up with some driftwood. There's nothing edible about this--not even any shelled seagrubs. To top it off, any fishing you do the rest of the day will either result in no bites or catches. -15 points

Thaideem was at least a salvageable fisher - she didn't have any real skill, but she at least was stubborn and willing to keep at it. Zegurath was all but fascinated by watching her rider fail, despite her most helpful advice to the young woman.

"Oh hush, you! Why aren't you doing anything if you're so much better at it than me?" Thaideem asked with a touch more scathing in her tone than she'd intended. Zegurath stretched lazily and laid her head on her front feet. Because anything I catch wouldn't be fit for human consumption. Now, why don't you figure out if you can eat that nasty boot you found? it was a none-too-gentle jab of her own, but they'd both been worse about it before.
