He decided he was doing a good job sounding like he knew what he was doing. "Either way, you'll need to hit it with a pokeball to catch it."

"When I evolve, I'll carry you on my back," the young pokemon offered. Sure, it wasn't as grand as flying, but it was the best he had, for right now.

Jun raised a good point, if the little gator was apart of the spooky crew, i.e. haunted house attendant, they wouldn't necessarily be pleased with Christian trying to snatch it up; and stealing was wrong, after all. But, from the way Jun spoke it sounded as if there was no harm in at least trying.
"Better to ask forgiveness than permission, right?" Christian joked, already reaching back in his bag for a pokeball. He remembered the professor mentioning those earlier, and Chickpea had come in one of those red-white capsules.
There was something wrong with the one he pulled out though? It was much... smaller than Chickpea's, but an instinctive press of the ball's button revealed that it could grow; neat. "My 'charming personality' is what won you over, and you're much harder to catch than a Totodile," Christian reasoned, and flashed a grin back at Jun before he approached the aforementioned. The pokemon stopped its investigating, and with wide eyes watched as Christian approached, then crouched down, with nary a sign of what it might do. "Hey there. You wanna be friends?" He didn't know one went about befriending a pokemon, but this seemed appropriate. "You'll get to hang out with my boy Chickpea over there, and won't go hungry."
Totodile tipped its head to the left, considering Christian's offer, before waddling closer. And it was with a toothy grin that the gator leaned in and bit his hand, not hard enough to break the skin, mind you, but hard enough to cause him to drop the pokeball as he sucked in air through his teeth. It gave another guttural chuckle, but when the capsule rolled to a stop by its feet it happily slapped it across the button. It cracked open, and the pokemon's body was instantaneously overwhelmed by a red light that drew Totodile inside before the ball snapped shut. Christian gingerly rubbed his hand and watched as the pokeball rocked across the floorboards once, twice... three times, then grew still.
Several seconds passed before he finally plucked the ball up and turned to his friend. "So does this mean I caught it?"

Whether he'd caught it or not, Christian was ready to leave the attic, and vice versa. At least, that was the feeling he got when, with an audible crack, the dolls all turned their heads towards the staircase. "Guess that's our cue to leave," he mused, and with a two-fingered wave he motioned for the group to start back downstairs. "Ready to check the pièce de résistance?" He was, of course, referring to the basement. At this point they'd explored a good bit of the house, so it only seemed right that they finally make their way into the belly of the beast. "Maybe we'll get to meet Dr. Frankenstein himself."

Chico frowned, watching his trainer as she looked between the two, before moving forward and gently tugging her shirt with one of his vines, before moving his head ot the right, and turning to walk that way. Julie blinked and looked around when the corn rustled again, but she couldn't feel any wind accompanying it. A pokemon maybe? She shifted and turned, trying to pin point the sound. She knew she probably didn't need to be scared, but the maze suddenly felt really empty, and she still wasn't sure where Torin was. Suddenly, every sound could be him-- or something dangerous. Still, she didn't let it get to her, much. At least.... not at first. The rustling continued, and finally, she was able to locate it, staring hard. It still sounded like it was all around her sometimes, but she could actually see the corn moving, now. She stared it down, arms still wrapped around herself, Chico at the ready by her side, and Mareepa wiggling her little nub of a tail as she looked at it curiously. Suddenly, her sheep gave a baa, sending Julie and Chico jumping in place, just as something leaped from the corn.
Julie blinked, and relaxed. It was... her other sheep. How did he get out...?

Julie's scream pierced the otherwise quiet air of the maze as something suddenly wrapped around her, but was soon broken by the laughter of her brother. The little girl was set back down onto the ground after being lifted up, breathing hard, eyes wide, with Chico scrambling back to his feet after tripping over himself both in fright, and attempting to spin around and defend his trainer (and failing, terribly).
Julie immediately spun and smacked Torin's leg, which only earned another bark of laughter, which turned into a light cough through his laughing, a grin on his face. "Torry! That was really really mean!" she snapped, huffing as she still tried to catch her breath. He chuckled again. "Sorry Lemon, I couldn't help myself. Do you want to keep your other mareep out? I just released him as a distraction," he admitted, smirking over his own wit. Julie scrunched up her face at him, before looking over at the sheep, who looked disgruntled both at being bait, and at the amount of straw and corn husks now caught in his wool. His sister toddled over, baaing in greeting, and plucking one of the husks off him to chew on.
Julie nodded. "Yeah, he can stay out," she decided, before turning back to Torin and poking his hip, "But you can't! Go back in your pokeball!" Torin laughed.

Esben’s pursuit of the dragon-skin wearing slayer led him to the picnic area. He’d managed to regain sight of the individual, just in time to watch them disappear into what appeared to be a field of corn? Why go in there. The Viking was stopped as he was nearly tripped by a tug on his pants. He looked down to see a worrying Isi tugging his pant leg to get him to stop.
"Isi, what?! We’re going to lose the dragon hunter!" He huffed immediately. Byr gave a little growl as well, arms folding as a pointed look was directed at his bear brother. The Cubchoo seemed to be in an honest panic about the fair and the situation with little beads of sweat forming on his brow. Oh, was he scared? Hot? Hm. Esben softened up a bit and knelt to eye level, freeing a hand to place on the bear’s head. "Don’t worry Isi! I’m sure tha’ dragon hunter will help us out! Don’t you want to get home?" Isi mumbled and looked uncertain, shuffling in closer.
Poor Isi. He was not a warrior and Esben knew it. Someday though, he’d train him up to be a tough one! For now, he just scooped him up under his free arm, Flef chirping excitedly as a companion joined in being carried. Once Isi seemed comfortable, Esben’s grin returned and immediately he was off for the maze again. Maybe they could catch up!

Moving away, Torin tilted his head to urge Julie to follow. "C'mon, let's see if we can find the exit to this place," he suggested, and turned to start walking. She nodded, and Chico moved to follow her brother, but she blinked and looked back as Mareepa seemed to be curiously watching something. With a glance back in Torin's direction -- she would totally catch up with him, it was fine! -- she moved over to look, peering back around the corner and down the way they had come. "Whoa!" A bright smile crossed over her face as she noticed someone walking by wearing what looked like some kind of dragon-pokemon costume, and she distractedly hurried back to try and get a better look. By the time she got to the turn, they'd moved further into the maze, but when she looked around, just about to head back, she noticed a boy about her age, also in what looked to be a costume. "Hey! Issat a costume for somethin'?" she asked, smiling as she looked at him. She wasn't really sure what it was supposed to be... but it looked cool!

The corn stalks were unnecessarily tall and they got in the way of Esben locating his future guide to home (even though that was far from fact). He’d moved through the corn trying to locate the dragon skin or even the person, even rushing directly through the stalks at times only to end up further lost. It was certain he’d gone in circles near the entrance at least 3 times so far, but that didn’t stop him.
"Oi!" He growled in frustration, setting Isi down so he could rub his face with a free hand. Byr gave a little growl and folded his arms over his chest in equal disappointment. They’d lost sight of this true warrior! Shameful!
Esben had half a mind to tug out his axe and start chopping his way through the field when a young girl appeared and made him jump in surprise. "What?!" He sputtered, giving her a bit of a look. She didn’t seem like a threat. Flef chirped happily, wiggling in his arms at the introduction of a new person. "Flef, hush!" The Viking scolded before addressing the girl again.
"A wha… a costume? What costume?" He inquired, head tilting just a bit. What was she talking about? "Hey! Did you see a dragon slayer pass by?! I have to talk to them!" He asked, eyes shining at the chance. Maybe she had an idea? Also, what was with the sheep? Was she a farmer? But first the dragon slayer had to be found.

Julie's attention was curiously pulled down to the little furball in Esben's arms, and a smile lit up across her face as she impulsively reached for it. "Oh cute! What is it??" she asked, immediately captivated. It's eye was so colorful! She blinked and looked back at the boy as he seemed to scold it for making a sound, scrunching up her face some, but then drawing back a little at his question, looking confused herself.
"Are ya just tryin' to stay warm, then?" she asked, reaching over and tugging at the fluff around his neck. It looked warm! Except the no sleeves part... but wouldn't a sweater or a jacket be just as effective?? She blinked at the question, again retracting her hand to herself and looking at him quizzically. "A dragon slayer?" she repeated, "Um, no... I don' think so. What'd it look like?" she asked, turning to look around as if maybe it might show itself.

Esben jumped and instinctively yoinked Flef just out of Julie’s reach as she tried to grab for him, scowling a bit in response as he pulled the excitedly chirping fur ball closer to his chest. "Hey! You can’t just go grabbin’ at Flef like that!" This girl was bold, the was certain. She seemed a bit younger than him… so her reaction seemed about right. He loosened and turned back to her, grinning in pride as he presented Flef again. "This is Flef! He’s gonna be the next great warrior!"
Then Julie went and yanked at the fur lining of his coat. "Hey! Stop it!" He swatted at her, frowning some. "It’s for the winters! Keeps you warm in the cold and dry in the rain! Unlike that outfit ya got! You have ta be prepared for the elements," he pointed at Julie’s own clothing. Esben’s expression soured just a bit but hope was still there. "He was wearing the skin of a dragon! Tall and mighty! I think it was… was Dragnite?" Was that the blue one? Or the orange one… or… was that something different? No matter, he shook his head, narrowing a stern look on Julie. "I saw him come through here! He’s got to be close!" He took a step next to hear, beginning to scan the field only to be met with corn stalks blocking his view. Darnit!
He looked at Julie again, studying her a moment. "Do you know your way through this stuff? There's too much corn!"

Julie blinked and stared at Esben. "How come?" she retorted, before holding out her hands, "Can I hold 'em?" She looked like she was going to be very stubborn about this, in her very cutesy and totally innocent way, although that could have been a ruse. She blinked and looked curiously at the fluff ball when Esben introduced it. It didn't look very warrior-y... "The next one? Is there one already existin'?" she asked, still holding her hands out, fully expecting it to be handed over so she could cuddle it.
Julie pouted when Esben swatted her hand, instantly recoiling it, and sticking her tongue out at him. "But whatta 'bout yer ARMS," she pointed out, reaching over and, for emphasis, poking his bare elbow. She drew her arms back in and wrapped them around herself, evidently not afraid to essentially prove his point. She scrunched her face up at the description of his dragonslayer, though. "Think I saw someone wearin' a dragon pokies costume or somethin' but... he didn' look like a slayer," she admitted, trying ot think. She blinked at the question, though, dropping her arms and giving a nod. "Uh huh! My brother and I were just about to leave!" she replied happily, "I can lead ya through it, if ya want!"

"’Cause you… you might scare him or something!" Esben retorted stubbornly, eyeing Julie and her extended hands as she asked to hold Flef. He looked suspicious, clutching the Danshen closer with a frown. "Why should I let you?" What if she ran off with him? Of course, she didn’t look like she’d get very far and didn’t have any weapons. He could totally axe her down if she tried to pull a funny. Ulla always said he ought to ‘try’ and share with the other children in the village; if only to keep the fighting down. Still he puffed his cheeks. He didn’t really want to despite all Flef’s squirming and chirping to the contrary. Clearly the fluff wanted to meet the new face.
Esben puffed out his chest at the question. "Ah course!” He announced, immediately point to his bears. "They’re the best warrior bears ever! Or they’re almost… they’re tough! Just like real warriors!" He announced, Byr puffing his own chest out as well while Isi… opted to just take cover behind him instead. Teeg was just confused, watching Julie curiously. She seemed friendly.
"What about them?!" He remarked, swatting at her again as she poked him. "Stop it!" Esben semi-whined in agitation. "You don’t poke a warrior!" He blinked and immediately perked up. "You did?! Where?! Which way!" Esben paused in his excitement, "You have a brother?" Hm… that didn’t matter! Immediately Esben stepped up to Julie, giving an affirmative nod like some leader to a subordinate. "Alright good! Lead the way, your brother can wait! Dragon slayers are more important ta meet! Maybe he can teach you a thing or two about how to treat a warrior!"
