This just... first the bats, now attacking, energy-firing (sort of??) flowers... the hell was going on in the last few months?

Kailey yelped as the explosions went off near them, arms coming up to shield her face as plant debris was scattered all over the place. At least it was painless, minus the feeling of bits of dirt getting into her cuts, which made her cuss anew. Only got better when the blinding light was set upon them.

She'd had her eyes shut at least, but when she tried to open them she was assaulted by white spots and strain to her eyes that made her groan and want to rub at them, but she wasn't sure if she had s**t on her hands that shouldn't go anywhere near her eyes.

Eventually, she was able to see again, and the state of her attire made her debate why she'd gone through the effort of dressing up. Huffing, she looked over at the guy she'd been alongside for the ordeal, seeing he was... definitely more cut up than she was.

"I'll live. In a desperate need of a shower and dry cleaning though," she added on a grumble, looking around. She had to keep blinking her eyes, her vision not quite back to normal. "The Garden's gonna get hell for all this... What about you, you alright? Do you need to sit or something?" She'd offer to get him food but uh. She doubted anything wasn't covered in plant debris back at the buffet table.

Jack Burnett - with Caelum and Jeremy, wary of the explosion and remnants of the plants, feeling light-headed and nauseated, but still determined to repay Jeremy by finding his brother

"Heh, thanks, but I was just lucky," he told Caelum, shrugging between trying to catch more foliage on fire. "Now if only I had a spray can of aerosol or something else flammable to speed things up..."

The 'tree' made of Winter Stars looked more absurdly like a Christmas Tree than ever with the orbs of light collected at the top like some brightly-shining, tree-topping star. It simultaneously gave the impression of some alien plant antenna ready to fire off a laser beam into space. They had to stop it now or never.

He was glad to see Caelum grinning as he answered Jack's question with enthusiasm, but before they could go fulfill their dream of wrecking the display once and for all, the self-lighting display seemed to short-circuit with a mysterious crackle of electricity. As if the Winter Stars themselves were each electrical as well, they all ceased moving too, but for a few small twitches. What in the world...?

Jack jerked back as the poinsettias, after getting even brighter, began to explode. He wondered if they were suddenly set to self-destruct or spontaneously combust. Whatever they case, they were pretty messy about it. He instinctively pulled his jacket over his head as their debris showered everyone close enough.

He was glad he'd had his jacket pulled up, too, when a vast amount of energy and light seemed to explode, sweeping all throughout Destiny City. Jack shut his eyes tight until things seemed to dim a little. Then he cautiously snuck a peak to see everything covered in sparkles. Thank goodness it hadn't gotten in his hair. Pollen, glitter, whatever it was - it wasn't likely going to be easy to wash out.

The smell of the pollen and the sticky sap didn't help the sick feeling the teen was getting in his stomach. He was also still bleeding from some of the cuts he'd managed to obtain earlier, but for the most part, the worst of whatever had happened seemed to be over. Jack looked over at Caelum and the cop, curious as to how they had fared the ordeal.

"I guess you're right," he grumbled at the officer's comment, somewhat annoyed at having had their chance to cause destruction for a good reason snatched away from them. He grimaced as his hair was ruffled, but didn't bother fixing it because it was almost always bedraggled anyway. He just hoped the cop hadn't gotten any pollen in it.

Though he still felt a little light-headed and grateful he hadn't eaten anything that he would have surely felt nauseated enough to upheave just then, the teen shook his head. "I'm fine," he insisted, determined to fulfil his debt to the cop as soon as possible. "We still need to find your brother."

Hafwen Goodall

Hafwen could still go on. After all, these were just some weird mutated poinsettias. Nothing at all like the youma and the Negaverse whom Darren and her had to face as Knights. All she needed was a brief moment to catch her breath and coordinate her actions so that they were more effective at fending off the plants than some random flailing of limbs.

It was amazing yet at the same time disconcerting for her that Darren was able to somehow read her mind despite everything that was going on and swap places with her so that she could have the respite that she needed. "Thank you..." She murmured, clinging onto his jacket so that she wouldn't be in the way.

Not disconcerting. More like reassuring. She had to keep telling herself that every now and then.

And then just as suddenly as it had all started, it was over in a bright flash of light and the Winter Stars were no more.

... was that it?

Hafwen looked around herself for a little while more, only finally allowing herself to relax some after ascertaining that the threat to all that were present was no more though everything was a mess in its wake. Taking a step back from Darren, she reached out to help dust the glittery pollen off of him, looking him over at the same time with concern.

"So much for a free date night on the house. Are you alright?"

Caelum Dawson || Absolutely done

Caelum was at the ready, trowel held like a legendary sword prepared to strike the final boss down. Unfortunately, his envisioned video game ending would not come to pass; suddenly, the suffocating tension within the air burst with the bright explosion from the tree. At the epicenter, the blaring white was the worst, but the boy managed to barely save his eyes by holding arm up. Then the light died, and pearls of white rained down in tandem with remnants of the poinsettias.

The boy felt his knees grow weak and he dropped to them after Jeremy ruffled his hair. "G-good point," he said to the officer, completely drained of energy. "I'm okay. Just. I need a moment. Or five. Five years of recuperation sounds about right."

Honestly.

Smearing sap from his locks, Caelum looked between Jeremy and Jack, and shook his head slowly. "I would offer to help find him, but..." He glanced toward the exit. Home sounded like a better option.

The explosion surprised Aubrey, but not nearly as much as feeling Samir’s arms go around her protectively, it was a nice feeling even if they were being pelted by plant guts and debris, finally when the smoke cleared and the powder blanketed the area, Samir released her and stepped back and Aubrey ached at the loss of touch. She nodded at his question and looked up at him, looking for injuries and in general how he was taking things, not many civilians could handle inanimate objects trying to kill them but Samir didn’t seem fazed, just concerned. For her.

“I’m fine, really no need to worry.” Aubrey told him, smiling as his thumb caressed her cheek, the contact was sweet and she savored it, she reached out and touched his chest.

“Are you okay? Those plants didn’t get you too bad did they?” she questioned lifting her eyes to meet his and holding his gaze for a beat before she leaned forward and wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug.

“Lets not go to a garden on our next date, mmkay?” she said flippantly to hide the fear that she could have lost him today, from flowers of all things. This city was dangerous, and not everyone had the advantage of supernatural power and strength.

Evren Exit

After walking a bit she Evren found one of those first aid kits that was connected to the wall. She opened it taking out the bandages and put them on all her cuts. With a bit sigh she then wandered out to the exit of the building and went home because she was feeling very tired from the whole night that just transpired.

Myles

"Uhm," Myles didn't sound certain and wavered on his feet for a moment; he gripped the railing to steady himself and flashed another quick smile. "I'm good," he reassured, uncertain at first and then with such conviction it seemed he was trying to just will himself into being alright.

It seemed like it was working.

"Whew," he said, resting against the railing. "I'm starting to think it's a much better idea to just stay inside. Every time I try to do something outside of my normal schedule, something weird winds up happening. I'm thinking this is at least better than those bats, though. I can probably just go home and sleep without any weird shots."

He rubbed at his neck, remembering the bat's bites, and shivered.

"...I should probably go find my brother." He squinted, but his vision was swimming and only slowly coming back to him. "He's a police officer though, so he's probably busy helping people. Oh, but--uhm--it was nice talking to you! Before the flowers attacked and all. Would it be weird if I showed up and watched a show of yours sometime?"

Kaefaux

Samir

"Please," Samir rolled his eyes, still wearing a light smile. "Those plants didn't do me any real harm. I hurt myself more back at the yard. But, ah. Yeah. I'll pick a better place for next time."

He winked and drew away just slightly. People were beginning to bustle around again and he didn't really feel like getting stuck in the middle of all of it.

"Let's...just go get some pizza or something, yeah?"

Skysu

Jeremy

Jeremy just offered a little smile to Caelum. "It's all right. You've been through enough. Go home--be safe. Call you parents. If you need a ride, we can figure something out."

He looked to Jack. "If you want to look for him, let's go. Last I saw him," he glanced in the area where he'd last seen his brother disappear and thought he saw a flash of bright red hair. There were too many people between them for him to make a clear identification though. He could help others after he knew his brother was okay; he tried to move between people, still explaining, "His name's Myles. He's a civilian, not good at fighting. You got any siblings?"

Sean Jones - exiting

Sean was looking for something else to throw at the glowing plants when they went rigid and emitted a loud crackle. He stared at them warily, wondering what new thing they might be up to now.

Then they exploded.

He yelped and tried to scramble behind the buffet table, but it made little difference. sap, pollen and leaf bits were scattered everywhere, and for several moments everything seemed chaotic. He ducked, covered his head and squeezed his eyes shut, hoping to keep the stuff off of his face at least.

When the sound of explosions stopped, he cautiously lifted his head and looked around. All the plants seemed to be immobile and in pieces now. He scanned the area carefully, just to make absolutely sure there was nothing else glowing or moving that shouldn't be. Once he was satisfied, he stood up and tried brushing the exploded plant bits off him. Unfortunately, the sap was rather sticky, and instead of brushing off it just smeared, getting further stuck in his clothes and grabbing onto every bit of pollen and leaf it touched.

He grimaced and gave up on cleaning the stuff off by hand. Better to just go home...no, to the dorms. He hoped the laundry room staff there wouldn't be mad at him for coming back with his clothes in such a mess. He was in no mood to linger after that incident, so he just made a beeline for the exit.

Mercy Haynes

Mercy had watched as Nick had reached her and fought on. Even though it looked like his hands were hurting something awful, he fought on. To save her. Her! When the plants finally exploded - all sparkles and sap and light. She wasn't sure if it was the snowy pollen that was falling, or legitimate anime sparkles around Nick.

Once she was able, she quickly got up on her knees. "My hero!"

Cliche but... it worked, and she wrapped her arms around him in a hug. It was a bit awkward, and she was pretty sure she mashed her nose against his a bit, but she gave him a solid kiss too for good measure.

He'd earned it.

It wasn't until she pulled away that she'd realized what exactly she'd done, and the heat rose to her face, and her eyes quickly darted down. "Oh... right..."

She just hoped Quinn had been too distracted to see that. She'd die of shame otherwise.

"Yeah, so much for that... I take back what I said about coming here again... Let's never come here again." He said, looking over his soulder at her for a moment abefore he met her face to face, reaching out to dust her off as well.

"I'm fine, are you okay?" He asked, looking her over as well. She'd flagged a bit during the fight, but he was hoping that she'd been able to rest and thus would need only minimal medical care. But he'd see to it she got what she needed regardless.

Aubrey grinned up at him. "I'm fit as a fiddle and pizza sounds divine since we didn't get any food here..." she glanced around at the chaos and mess that was once a pristine garden.

"Do you think we can get your money back? I'm not sure what the policy is one the attractions trying to kill you, but it seems a reasonable request, especially since we didn't eat." Aubrey shrugged and began to walk towards the exit, ever so casually taking Samir's hand in hers.

"So where are you thinking for that pizza?" she questioned cheerfully.

Jack Burnett - thanking Caelum and helping Jeremy find Myles

Turning at the sound of someone falling to their knees, Jack's brows shot up. Caelum had been worse off than he'd thought. "Need some help?" he asked, offering him a hand up.

He hadn't expected Caelum to help them look anyway. Caelum wasn't the one indebted to the cop like Jack was. In fact, if Jack hadn't felt so obligated to repay the officer, he himself would have opted to go home immediately. "Don't worry about it," he told the pink-haired kid. "I just have to pay our cop friend back for saving me from those killer poinsettias. It'd defeat the purpose if you came along and helped. Thanks for your help and support before, though."

Clapping his peer on the shoulder, he hurried to keep up with the police officer as the older red-head began to head out. "Myles, okay. Uh, what do you mean by 'civilian'? Anyone who's not good at fighting?" Jack asked. He shook his head at the question posed to him. "Nope. Only child. How do you think I got so rotten?"

Allison Abson - Done with this s**t

"Nah. I was working." Allison chuckled dryly, then winced as the plants... Exploded.

Of course.

Regardless, the light hurt, and she cringed, shielding her eyes as the light washed over, and hissed.

"Just, that was ow...." One eye opened and she grimaced, looking up.

"Well, this is a ********. Wanna head out or you planning to stay longer?"

Samir

Samir laughed somewhat awkwardly. "You know...I think they're going to need all the cash they can get to take care of this mistake. Besides, what's a few dollars here or there--in the name of science?"

Samir said nothing about her holding his hand; he was elated, naturally, but he wasn't going to be uncool about it.

"I think you've had enough to worry about. I know a good place--How about I just surprise you?"

Skysu

Jeremy

"Huh?" he asked, glancing at Jack as he caught up. "Not quite, no. Sorry," he gestured to his uniform. "Work habit, it slipped out. I just meant he's never been involved in any armed forces--no special training. No military, no police, no firefighting. He's not good at fighting, but that's besides the point. Civilian just means...you don't have the same training as I might have, as an officer. Some families have cops that run in the family--it runs back generations and all. I've got guys a work with and their whole family pursued the badge. Myles isn't like that, though. Couldn't hurt a fly and is as gullible as a middle schooler."

He paused and gave Jack a look. "Don't get any ideas, though. I'm the only one that gets to pick on him, no matter how easy a target he makes."

That, at least, seemed like a joke.

He was more confident now that he'd spotted Myles, but the crowd was still separating them, even if he was doing a good job of weaving between people.

"You know what you wanna do when you get older? Lotta officers I know were troublemakers growing up. In a few years, you might fit right in."

"If you say so." Aubrey responded with a shrug, it didn't really matter to her, it wasn't her money and if Samir wasn't going to push for it neither would she. She flashed him a quick smile.

"I like surprises, less so when they are the murdering kind, so unless the pizza is going to try to eat us too, then I think letting you pick the place sounds good."
Aubrey added with a laugh as they exited the garden, hand in hand.

Hafwen Goodall

"Yeah. Maybe not as drastic as never ever. But at least not any time in the near future." Hafwen concurred, holding out and turning her forearms this way and that so that she could scrutinize the injuries that were sustained from the recent skirmish.

"I'm ok. Just some cuts and scrapes. Nothing that'll require stitching so we can probably take care of them on our own after we've headed back." They should probably start making their way back while they still can. She could definitely use a hot shower and some cuddling with Darren with what time that remained of this disastrous day to make it a little better for them both.
