I got some Personality!
USERNAME: .Nyx Queen of Darkness If male: Name: Orris (derived from Orris root, which is said by some to contain magical power. It is used to find and hold love, considered a "love drawing poweder" Temper: Sage Personality: Orris is in a way like his mother. He believes in the sacred rites. He believes that love is a powerful thing, perhaps one of the most powerful forces on earth along with it's polar opposite--hate.
He wants to study about love and the effects that it can have--it is said that love can help heal those who were thought to be beyond hope. His interest is purely academical, a way to quantify and understand something that is unmeasurable.
He is eager to explore and eager to travel. He loves experiencing new things, and is spiritual. It's his hope to one day travel like his mother and perform lifemating ceremonies, he does not want to deal with death.
Plot ideas:
Just a Little Experiment: Orris hunts down stories of "miraculous" type healings or healings where an injured or sick person got better quicker because of the care of someone they loved. He's eager to see if there is any correlation to this that can be proven.
Powdered Love: Orris has heard tale of potions that are said to produce the euphoric feelings of love. He wants to see how true these things are. If love can be mimicked and if it does help with healing, then will these potions be able to help more soquili heal faster?
Those are just a few...albeit strange ideas. Hope they make sense X_X
If female: Name: Enoki (a somewhat fruity tasting mushroom) Temper: Allegiant Personality:
Enoki believes things are black and white in the world. There is good and there is bad, and nothing in-between. An illogical thought brought on by the fallacy of believing that things can always be determined to be good or bad.
She is a knight by nature. Cunning, courageous and filled with respect and honour. She believe she needs to live by a certain code.
Little by little, as she goes on her journeys she realizes that things are not always soley good or bad. People do bad things for good reasons and good things for bad reasons. Life is not black and white, it is shades of grey.
Plot ideas:
Shades of Grey: I want Enoki to come to some kind of....impasse where she is faced with something that is very much not good soley or bad. The situation will be hers to make, and she will have to learn to live with it--knowing that either answer is not a purely good or bad one.
Girls Arent' Knights: I'd like her to meet someone who thinks that girls can't be knights and prove them very, VERY wrong.
If male: Name: Augustus (from the mushroom Agaricus augustus; common name: the prince)
Temper: Thoughtful Personality: Calm and quiet, Augustus possesses a presence that is not easily seen nor heard. He is the type that goes with the flow and rarely struggles against the events that affect him. One may mistake it for lack of interest in the world, but such is not the case. It’s actually quite the opposite: he is always wondering and questioning, parsing through his memory, examining the details, and categorizing it to fit some ideology, but he prefers to do so in the silence of his own thoughts. Unsurprisingly, he’s grown to deal in philosophy.
Plot ideas: • Speaking Up (Foal RP): Augustus is a perceptive stallion, but even he won’t be able to learn a thing if all he does is listen to his own opinions. I’d like for someone to get him to ask questions while he’s still young and provide insightful answers to encourage him to continue questioning as he ages. (Most likely his parents, though anyone can fill the role.) • Action and Reaction (Foal RP): At this point, Augustus is still a passive character who does little more than react to the events that come and go. I’d like him to be inspired into traveling and actively seeking out knowledge on his own. (Most likely his parents, though anyone can fill the role.) • Black and White: As Augustus grows, he’ll quickly come to see that not everything is either good or bad, just or unfair, one thing or the other. He’d meet soquili of all sorts, from honorable to insane, and develop his own sense of morals. I’m really interested in trying to have him making a “good” soq look evil and vice versa, and struggling with the sense of right and wrong, while also exploring various religions and breeds that don’t fit the mold. • Dark Knight: He’ll be keeping up with his knightly training during his travels, and is open to helping others. He won’t support anything outright heinous, but can be talked into performing questionable deeds if worded favorably. I’d like to see how various circumstances would affect him. • Actions Over Words: Augustus is still struggling when it comes to morals. In a dire situation, he ends up spending too much time thinking rather than acting which results in him or a friend getting hurt. This teaches him that there are times when one can be too thoughtful, and nudges him into playing a more active role in life. • Opposites Attract: At this stage, Augustus could benefit from a friend who’s the opposite of him – someone more confident with a very direct view on life, who can answer his philosophical questions simply, but without taking away any depth. • Late Nights: At the same time, a friend that is similar to him, who he can talk with late into the night over a wide variety of subjects and concepts would be beneficial. • A Throne: Augustus is more certain of himself now and somehow rises to the position of prince within a kingdom/herd. He serves as a scholar, actively seeking out knowledge to better serve the kingdom. Somehow, he finds himself dabbling in dark arts in his efforts to help (such as from a widespread plague or some other serious affliction affecting the kingdom) that lead to tragedy. In the end, he still does not know what is good and evil in life in general, but knows where he himself stands. • A Change in Role: Augustus takes up a teaching role. He’d guide others like him to find their own morals.
((I ended up typing the female's info first, and tried to make the male's a foil to it, but I really like the female's a lot more and might just go with it for both genders and incorporate some of the above into the one below if I win. xDa Idk. /goes to bed))
If female: Name: Edulis (from the mushroom Boletus edulis; common name: king bolete) Temper: Curious Personality: Edulis is a head-strong, brazen mare, who always seems to be the cause of some noisy disturbance around her home. Curiosity is a dangerous flame that burns within her, driving her to learn but, more importantly, to apply her studies to the real world, which usually results in her doing the equivalent of shoving a boulder off a cliff to further test the law of gravity. To her, seeing is believing, and she feels more comfortable when assured of her own knowledge, rather than relying on anyone else’s.
Plot ideas: • Learning to Trust (Foal RP): I’d like for her to ease up to the point where she won’t have to always double-check everything herself before coming to believe it. (The earth is round, my dear, no need to travel across the world to see for yourself!) A more specific idea I had in mind is one where a Unicorn/healer tells her not to eat some mushrooms because they’re poisonous, but she does so anyway because I haven’t slept yet so it seems really funny to me. (im secretly a terrible person) (jk tho it’s not a secret) The soq would then heal her and they could potentially become friends. • The Burden of Simple Comforts (Foal RP): Edulis will be happy at home, but it will not be enough for her insatiable curiosity. She’ll become increasingly frustrated as she grows, until she comes to terms with the fact that despite the love she has for her family and the place of her birth, she wants to leave and travel. This can be done through conversations with her parents or with soquili who pass by (who she’ll probably bury under questions). • Faith: Although Edulis would quickly come to learn that fact-checking everything is implausible, she’d still have a hard time believing in something can’t really be proven scientifically. For this plot, I’d like her to come to understand spirituality and religion more. More specific ideas include traveling with her mother for a while, or leaving home to seek out herds and individuals and stay with them for some time to try and appreciate various religions. There will probably be some friction at first until she learns what faith is, and perhaps come to accept some spirituality into her own life. • Knight in Training: Exactly what it says on the tin. Some knightly experience for her from outside of the family would be nice. An escort / bodyguard plot sounds especially fun. Others include becoming a squire herself or protecting someone. • Curiosity Killed the Cat: Although Edulis is an intelligent mare, she is also impulsive, and often acts before thinking. In this plot, she’d be driven by her curiosity to study something dangerous, and after a close call, will learn that although action is important, there are times when ruminating over a subject will prove more beneficial to her. • Opposites Attract: Like her parents, Edulis is generally friendly and understanding, but at the same time, she is a very… erm, determined soq, and those who can’t keep up are left behind. I’d like her to make a friend who’s the opposite of her, who she’ll treasure and respect enough to be patient for, and learn that life isn’t a race. (This can overlap with any of the plots above. For instance, the friend could be a soq she escorts, the one who healed her, someone whose faith she came to accept, and so forth.) • Rivalry: Opposite of the above, in which Edulis finds someone similar to her to start up a rivalry with. This soq will likewise grow to become someone she treasures and respects. (This can also overlap with the plots above. For instance, this could be connected with the Knight in Training plot, where they’re squires under the same knight or are both charged with escorting and guarding the same soquili and constantly bicker.) • My Kingdom: Her father’s mysterious past has always intrigued her, and during her travels she finds a kingdom/herd and grows involved in it in an attempt to figure out what turned her father into the stallion she knows. She’ll somehow gain control of it, only to lose it despite everything she’s learned in her travels (likely to some tragedy she caused or could have prevented) and will return home. Her experiences may not have been his, and she may never know what ever happened in Singeri’s past, but she’ll understand the pleasures of his simple life and will no longer be subject to the will of her curiosity. (She’d still have a strong desire to learn, but it won’t be as all-encompassing as before. If she chooses to stay home, she will no longer be dissatisfied, and will take things at a slower pace to enjoy the simple comforts she’d once forsaken.) • A Change in Role: Edulis takes up a teaching role. (Some of the same plots above can occur, except with switched positions. Ie. She could take on a squire, train young knights, be the one to teach faith, and so forth.)
