Discordia was spending most of her days close within her herd’s lands more so than usual. She dared not to venture too far away from them and feared what lurked in the shadows of the surrounding forests that her unknown to her. There was a time when the young mare would journey here, there, and everywhere without a care in the world. But those days had come and go many years ago and the young filly had grown into an adult—scared of her own shadow. Discordia lifted her head as she lay, resting below the safety of a great oak tree. The woods here seemed safe enough, quiet and content with only a couple birds chirping as they flew from branch to branch above her. Lifting her head, she could still smell her family residing somewhere in the distance not too far from where she rested. Great, she thought to herself with a smile. They were close, but not too close. A smile of relief came to her as she stood up then and brushed herself off. She looked around and doubted that anyone from her herd or not were venturing around. There wasn’t anything exciting about these lands and her Grandmother did a great job at protecting the borders, so Discordia doubted that anyone not of her herd would pass by. For the most part, she figured it would be a particularly boring dull day.

He ventured further than usual; he was tracking down the scent of his aunt. Requies did not like the fact she terrorized his mother and he wanted to settle things, in fact the dark stallion would never venture far from his family in fear of an attack that might take place if he was not present. He had confidence that his brother and sister could handle anything that might come at them. Man, his mother sure had a lot of enemies!

Requies slowly move through the forest the scent now came up cold and he let out a sigh. There would be no revenge today he thought to himself. His bright eyes scanned the forest and all seemed peaceful, it felt so bizarre to him considering the woods close to home were a bit creepy. He continued on in a slow pace along a path heading to an unknown route in hopes of finding his Aunt. So far everything was quiet a little too quiet…

His ears perked when he picked up a scent of someone close by. It was not familiar to him and thus his curiosity once again gets the better of him. So he begins to stalk the soquili, hiding among the trees luckily it was spring and all the foliage would provide him a good hiding place. He lurked in the shade of the trees peering out to see a mare in the distance. She was unique, having three wings and some sort of creature lying perched upon her head.

Requies smirked “What do we have here?” he silently said to himself.

The nameless creature that always at most had itself perched on top of Discordia’s head let out a little growl. She didn’t really think much of it figuring that the birds were starting to irritate it a little bit. She calmly hushed, cooing the creature with a gentle, warming smile before dipping her head down and having the creature dismount from her head. “You make such a fuss,” she laughed softly as she lifted her head. The odd, strange creature blinked to Discordia as it stayed plopped on the ground. “They’re just birds. I highly doubt that they’ll hurt you,” she said. Discordia honestly didn’t think that ‘It’, the creature could understand a single word that she was saying, but it felt nice to talk to someone even though they couldn’t really communicate back.
The creature grunted and hissed still irritated by something as it seemed to look past Discordia’s body. Something behind her, perhaps? She sighed as she glanced over her shoulder but couldn’t see anything. “There’s nothing there,” she spoke quietly as her ears pulled back. With a quiet gulp, she dipped her head down…Maybe there was something in this forest that she couldn’t see…Hopefully not. Surprises didn’t go too well with Discordia.

Oh, she seemed like a delicate mare for her stance was most distressing. He raised an eyebrow and cocked his head just slightly. He was wondering how to approach such a mare and was curious if the thing that was resting upon her would attack him? His nose twitched as if he was trying to pick up the scent of the creature trying to identify it. Requies did not want to frighten the mare and probably felt it best to approach her.

In a slow stride he came from the shadows and approached the mare. He gave a light grin “Nice stance, but I’m afraid you look more like prey than a predator.” He teased her; he kept a good distance from her though. He did not want to make the mare uncomfortable with his presence. His eyes scanned the mare and noticed she was rather quiet lovely. She had the most perfect color hide he’s ever seen “I am sorry that I have frightened you. I've come to do no harm.” He bowed his head lightly.

Discordia could feel herself shrinking as the stallion stepped out from within the shadows. Her ears pulling back, dropping a bit as she took a couple steps backwards with eyes still fixed on the stranger. She kept moving and maneuvered herself behind the oak tree with only her head peeking out around the side. It probably wasn’t all that smart to take refuge behind a tree considering that she was already greeted by the stallion, but nonetheless…She needed some sort of cover and Discordia really didn’t feel like attacking him, hoping that he wouldn’t attack her.
The creature hissed with its stance held as the beady, blue eyes glared at the strange stallion.

“Then why are you making your presence known?” Discordia asked from behind the tree. Her voice gentle, though in a way a bit serious even for herself. Discordia would rather have the stallion hiding in the shadows than coming out and trying to comfort her as Discordia didn’t do all that well with confrontation.

“I could not help myself but be known to you.” He smirked.

His eyes rested upon the hissing creature and he looked amused. Was that creature protecting the young mare? That was interesting, though he’s heard of tales of creatures being loyal to their owners. He raised his head and stared hard in to her eyes as if he was searching for something “You are quite the skittish one. Have no fear, I would never dream of harming a lovely mare.” Perhaps his appearance was off putting? Though he was positive that he gained most of his mother’s genes unlike his brother who gained more of his father’s appearance, was he scary?

Requies blinked his eyes “You should be careful though. I was tracking a cursed soquili the other day. However because of last night’s rainfall the scent has been lost. I am really just passing by.” He told her simply.

“Even a snake can speak such comforting words,” Discordia said from behind the tree with her eyes looking to the stallion. “How do I know you’re not lying?” she asked softly. “You’re but a stranger to me plus an intruder,” she said. “These lands belong to my family—my herd, even if you’re just simply a passerby.” Discordia would need some more convincing if the stallion was really just passing by and his appearance really wasn’t helping the young mare trust him even more so. She gulped quietly, pulling her head back as she looked down at the spikes that protruded out from his foreleg and too took notice of the odd-looking thin wings upon his shoulders. This stallion was just as different looking as she was, but was that really such a bad thing? Discordia knew of a couple that feared her because of the way she looks, so why should she judge him so quickly? It wasn’t fair, but….she knew that if she was so let her guard down than she would make one easy target, even if her little companion stood in front of her as if to defend Discordia.

She blinked, exhaling softly as she still looked to the stallion—afraid to take her eyes off from him for even just a second. What if there was really cursed Soquili in the lands? Her Grandmother, Mother, and everyone of the herd should know! “Whom is this cursed Soquili that you speak of?” she asked, stepping out a bit from behind the shadow of the oak. “Where was the last place that you took notice of the Soquili’s trail?” she asked. Discordia was scared—very much so, but this was her home. She would not let anyone harm those she loves.

He thought about it for a second trying to recall the last he picked up her scent. Requies looked towards her, he looked serious “Very early in the evening yesterday. But it was still a good ways back from here. She is my mother’s aunt. Her name is Concordia---though to call her part of our family…”

His eyes harden and his face seemed gloom “I’d rather die before I admit it.” He noticed her glance at his spike which protruded from his front leg and he glanced down at it. Shaking his head “Chances are she is nowhere near your home, for I have not picked up her scent while passing through here.” He tried to reassure her. Though he felt the need to warn her since he did not want a monster like Concordia getting her hands on her, the way she treated his mother was unforgivable. He did not want to see anyone else go through the same torture.

Plus a cursed or skinwalker was not a matter that could easily be handled. Even he knew that he had his limits. He doubt he would win a fight against one “Trust me; I very rarely leave my family’s side unless I had a reason.” He was sincere.

“Well let’s just hope that you’re speaking the truth,” Discordia said as she stepped a bit to the side, out from behind the oak. “For your sake I do hope that my Grandmother doesn’t find your mother’s aunt or yourself. She doesn’t take kindly to intruders even if they’re just passing by,” she simply said. Discordia sighed softly in relief that perhaps that the cursed Soquili that the stallion had spoken of wasn’t anywhere near her herd. Good news indeed, because quite frankly the little herd didn’t need such fear and drama anymore as they had gone through quite a lot. If Concordia didn’t pose such a threat, than what about this stallion? His words were inviting and she hoped that he did only mean well, but…his appearance was anything but comforting.

“So you’re tracking her whereabouts?” she asked, perching her ears forwards in his direction. “Is that why you’re here? Considering that you just said that you’d rarely leave your family unless you had a reason to.” Discordia cocked an eyebrow as she looked at the stallion as she finally managed up some courage to confront him.

“Yes, I was tracking her scent for days. But the blasted rain managed to cover it up.” He told her with a nod before looking around the forest. He took her words seriously though he had no intention of coming anywhere near her herd. He was not one to start trouble though he did as a young foal enjoy playing pranks on adults; however he was in no mood to pull any pranks being in the mood he was in for losing track of Concordia “I promise you, I will not bother your herd. I am simply like I said passing by. I don’t intend to stay any longer since her scent has gone cold.”

He did need to get back to his family eventually and he doubted his mother would be pleased at him for going out to search for his Aunt to settle a score. Requies gave her a light smile it held no meaning behind it simply he meant all good intentions “I hope you do not mind that I look around? I promise to leave by nightfall.” He asked her.

Discordia sighed softly and nodded her head. While, yes she was still scared of the stallion, she could all feel and hear the honesty and truth in his words. She quickly glanced over her shoulder and looked towards the distance in which her family’s herd was residing within. If they hadn’t already took notice of a cursed Soquili passing by than certainly they didn’t sense this stallion making an appearance either. “I’m sorry if I sounded a bit…blunt,” Discordia apologized with a faint smile. “We’ve gone through so much already. I just assume to fear the worst I suppose,” she said. The creature had relaxed a bit, but still not enough to take it’s small beady eyes from the stallion as it curled it’s body around the ankle of Discordia’s foreleg.
“I’m Discordia,” she introduced herself as she felt rude from not doing it already. “And please…welcome to stay. I’ll speak with my family and tell them that you’re just simply passing by,” she smiled. “At least stay the night if you’ve traveled far. I can show you where to sweetest grasses grow and the most refreshing streams flow, if you’d like.”
PostPosted: Sun Apr 07, 2013 7:33 pm

“It is fine; I mean my appearance alone might raise suspicion.” He said with a light nod. Though he very rarely stumbled upon a soquili that feared him, he felt normal compared to most he’s seen in the past. His father and brother had the most unique appearance since they had exposed bones; he was graced with his mother’s looks as well was his sister. If anything he felt the most normal besides his bright yellow eyes and his useless wings. He blinked when she introduced herself; he was not expecting her to do so since he thought she would not trust him.

He looked to her “Requies Aeterna, you can call me Requies though.” Discordia sound like a lovely name, he has never crossed a path with someone belonging that name before. He would not forget such a name or a lovely face “You are much too kind. Though I do not wish to be a burden, I guess I can stay the night in case Concordia does pass by I can stir her away.”

“Don’t be so silly. Of course I am still suspicious of you, but that doesn’t mean I cannot show some hospitality. You should rest the night and return within the morn,” Discordia smiled softly. It would be rude and foolish to let the stallion return the way he had come after he had traveled so far. “It will be no trouble at all. You won’t be a burden—this I am sure, plus to make sure of it I’ll tend to you only. My family won’t know you were here. Your secret is safe with me,” she smiled. It perhaps would be rude not to tell her Mother and the rest of the herd that she met another Soquili within the lands, but he only meant well. Of course she would tell them of a cursed Soquili and come up with a little white lie of how she came across such knowledge.
“If you’ll follow please follow me this way Requies,” she motioned him to follow her. She was still on alert with her eyes keeping on the stallion at all times. Her little companion crawled its way up onto her back and settled back down on top of her head, tucking away in her long beautiful mane.

“To be honest it’s a blessing to come across another Soquili not known of my herd,” she smiled. “Even if the circumstances aren’t all that well,” she laughed softly. “How far have you traveled, Requies?” she asked softly.
PostPosted: Mon Apr 08, 2013 5:26 pm

He gave a light nod and began to follow her from behind. He kept his eyes on the little creature making its way in the mare’s lovely mane. He was curious on how she manage to come across such a creature since it seemed like a rare species or if it even had others like it? He was almost thinking so much in his head he did not realize she was talking at first “Oh—about five days.” He told her simply while scanning the area as they walked along. Requies tried to think of something to say to her that would be polite “So that creature? What is it exactly? If you don’t mind me asking?” he said to her while he gestured his head towards it.

Discordia cocked an eyebrow as she kept until Requies had joined her. “Honestly I haven’t a clue,” she started to say with a light giggle as she could feel the creature trying to hide itself within her long, dark mane. “It was forged with earth and conjured by magic,” she simply said. Discordia turned and looked ahead of them. She would be sure not to travel to close to the herd as bringing this stallion to her Grandmother would surely cause suspicion and all Requies needed was a night’s sleep plus some food. “I had gone through a terrible dark phase. All I thought I needed as a friend but there wasn’t anyone really around, so I decided that if I could not find one than perhaps someone could make one for me,” she said. “I didn’t really think that she would make such a creature…” Discordia said. Honestly, the nameless creature wasn’t really something that she would see befriending. Most of the time it was loud with its high pitched squawking and made others feeling very, very uncomfortable with its threatening intimidating stances, but there were times where it was as cute as can be. The creature was a good friend and always stayed by Discordia’s time even when no one else would. She felt safe and protected oddly enough, considering the creature’s side and appearance.
“I’ve yet to name him,” she looked to Requies with a smile. She laughed softly and shook her head, “I’m not even sure if it’s a boy or girl.” A strange purring noise could be heard coming from the creature as it found a comfortable spot right between the bottom of her neck and shoulders, tucked away with a couple locks of her mane covering it.

“You shouldn’t fear him though. He only means well,” Discordia tried to explain with a warming smile as she looked to the stallion, leading him into the woodlands.
