Quote: Step 1: Stop Those Rodents: Progress 1/6. Attempt 2. PC: 38 :: SUCCESSAs the R.O.U.S. attempted to leap past him, Hizen managed to hook his hands under the bundle of cloth. The knot holding the bundle to the R.O.U.S.’s back was loose, and Hizen was able to separate the two with a quick yank. The R.O.U.S. landed, hissing at Hizen, but likely not wanting to be caught, continued its flight from the area. Having caught a whiff of the smell of the R.O.U.S. as it leaped past, Hizen knew that he need to collect the bundles quickly. ”Otherwise, they won’t be worth salvaging, they’ll have too much of the R.O.U.S.’s scent infused into them. Damn, but those creatures stink. I guess they are rats, the creatures could want the cloth to shred and use as bedding.” Improvising a sling out of a bed sheet in the bundle he had liberated, Hizen slung the cloth items onto his back before moving to intercept another one of the R.O.U.S.s that was attempting to leave the area through the same outlet from the alleys to the street proper. However, this R.O.U.S. appeared more wary, moving erratically, changing speed and direction often in what seemed an attempt to confuse Hizen’s intuition and coordination and slip past him. ”This one seems to have caught wind of my plan. These things have got to be intelligent on some level. They appear to have targeted specific materials for collection, and this one is showing basic evasive tactics. There is no way it is all a coincidence.” As the R.O.U.S. closed the gap between them, Hizen began matching its movements, trying to ensure that he was in the creature’s direct path during the creature’s final exit from the alley. As the creature made its final leap, trying to exit the alley, Hizen attempted to repeat the same maneuver he had used on the initial R.O.U.S. whose bundle he had liberated. Quote: Step 1: Stop Those Rodents: Progress 2/6. Attempt 3. PC: 38 :: FAILWhile attempting to leap past Hizen, the R.O.U.S. turned and spun in the air, trying to keep its bundle safe and out of Hizen’s hands. Unfortunately for the Rat of Unusual Size, Hizen’s hands were just as quick and he was able to slip the knot free and gather the bundle of cloth items. This particular R.O.U.S. was a bit feistier than the average, and, upon landing, lunged back at Hizen trying to retake its bundle. A swift kick to its snout sent it scurrying away after its bretheren. Turning his attention back towards the alley, Hizen was dismayed to find that most of the Rats of Unusual Size had escaped through other exits from the area around the warehouse. A few were still slipping out, with one last rat headed towards his exit. ”Damn. After I try for this guy, I am going to have to chase them through the streets. I am not looking forward to that prospect. Although, perhaps some of the other academy students have finished their exams. Hopefully, they have moved towards the ruckus the R.O.U.S.’s have been causing. If we work together we should be able to recover much more of the stolen property.”The last R.O.U.S. approaching Hizen’s position was extremely wary. Having seen the bundles of two of its companions snatched off their backs, and seen one sent running with its tail between its proverbial legs, this individual was approaching with much greater caution than the previous two had shown. Hizen adopted a ready stance, prepared to move with the R.O.U.S. if it tried any tricks like the previous one had. However, the growing bundle of clothes and linens was impeding his movements. In one such instant, the R.O.U.S. decided its time had come hand attempted to slip between Hizen’s legs and he struggled with the bundle. Catching the movement out of the corner of his eyes, Hizen attempted to strip the R.O.U.S. of its bundle by catching it with one of his feet. Quote: Post words: 332 Total words: 2489

"Someday I'll make things right. From the Earth to the Sky and everything between. It will all be mine again."
Theme The door opened swiftly as Jace passed on through. He found himself standing outside of his apartment. He shut the door slowly and inserted the key in which to lock it. With a turn of the wrist the bolt in the door slid and clicked into place. The door was now locked and Jace began walking down stairs. With the thud of each step down the stairs, a light creaking followed. Jace hurried down the stairs and over to the mail boxes to retrieve his mail. After unlocking the box and retrieving the few letters within and then re-locking the box, Jace turned towards the street that lead to the academy. He had not been feeling very well and wound up staying home during the previous Academy Session. Jace wasn't particularly fond of his classmates either. He felt like they put him there because they had no where else to place him. Now that he was feeling better he had figured he might as well spend the rest of his time today looking around town for odd-end jobs to help maintain his place of living.
"Just another daily grind, huh?" Jace said as he looked down the street ahead of him. He shrugged to himself as he grinned. "I guess I can't complain. It won't get me where I need to go." Jace continued on and began working his way across town. He checked from place to place, but today just wasn't his day. There wasn't a whole lot of need for work today. Everything was slow. It was actually rather abnormal, but Jace had yet to witness what was happening. Entering from the opposite end of the incident area, he began to wonder what was up. He could hear the commotion from several areas around him spanning outwards across the housing area. "What's going on around here...?" Jace thought to himself before he began hurrying down the path. Just then he heard the sound of someone screaming off in the distance to his left and immediately turned the next corner, only to find himself a few feet from an individual he hadn't seen before. Using everything he had, Jace brought himself to a stop. "Whoa!" He uttered in reaction to the surprise of the individual suddenly blocking his path. "That was a close one. I thought I was gonna slam right into you. Where did you come from?" Jace asked as his excitement began drawing to a close.
If only for a short while, his memory of the scream had vanished. Now he stood in front of an interesting individual. Jace's eyes had met with the person's, but not for longer than a moment as his eyes were then drawn upwards in curiosity. "Ah! Your hair! It's green. Is that even natural???" Jace asked in amusement of the unnatural sight. lanxx360 Words: This Post (471) Total: 471

~*Radagon Mimuria*~ Radagon took a good stroll around the village. He had a nice day at school, and it ended well with his completion of the tests that he had to complete nearly a month ago. Since then, he thought walking about the village may give him some incite into the daily lives of others. So far, a lot of people were out and about, looking for shops and trade, for work, or looking for people to do work. The rest of the people all seemed to have their own private agenda's, as Radagon hadn't heard them speak to anyone. He kept a good note on them, though he doubted anything bad would happen in the middle of their village. As Radagon turned a corner on the street he had been walking down on, he heard a loud scream echo out from not too far away. Turning quickly in the direction of the scream, Radagon wasn't prepared when someone almost slammed into him. Turning to the person who exclaimed that they were wondering where he had come from, and then had an astonished look when they said something about his hair being green and questioning the fact that it was natural. Deciding that answering the question wasn't the best point at the moment, Radagon simply said to the man "Later. Best we go find out who that was.", but then realised he was asking a man he didn't even know to help. Making it quick, he then said to the young man "Name's Radagon. Tell me who you are as we run to help". With that, Radagon turned on his heel and began running toward the scream, hearing the footsteps of the man behind him, waiting for him to tell Radagon who he was. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- OOC: Post Words: 292 Total Words: 6210 Last Post

"Someday I'll make things right. From the Earth to the Sky and everything between. It will all be mine again."
Theme 50 + [60(2) - 222]/10 Chance: 39% Failed Bonus: +0% "Eh?" Jace remarked at the sudden statement about the scream. Jace's expression changed to one of surprise as the thought of that scream flooded back into his head, and once more his expression smoothly transitioned to seriousness. "Right!" Jace replied. The guy in front of him didn't seem too much older than himself, but enough to notice it. He continued on to tell Jace that his name was "Radagon" and that they'd need to continue introductions as they progressed towards the area the scream had come from. The man twirled around and bolted for the target area. A few seconds following Jace bolted forward as well following behind Radagon. It wasn't long before Jace was able to push ahead and get beside Radagon as they ran. "Oi! My name is Jace. Nice to meet you." he uttered, his voice a little unsteady as a natural reaction from trying to run and speak at the same time. Jace only peered over once while introducing himself and then kept his eyes focused ahead.
Soon they found themselves at the opening of the street where the scream had come from. To Jace's surprise there were abnormally sized rats littering the streets. A few were rumaging through goods people dropped or had stored around their houses and even in small sale stands. There were a few people scattered about with random weapons that had been trying to defend themselves and their property, but the sheer magnitude of the rats was too much for them. It seemed especially strange that none of the stronger ninja in the village were taking action. The rats began to pour out of the house heading towards a particular direction in a hurry. They were adorned with various pieces of cloth ranging from towels and clothes to bandages and even woman's underwear. Jace raised an eye brow at the sight, but action needed to be taken quickly. The rats were not to leave with everyone's things. Jace turned to Radagon quickly. "They're much too big to be normal rats and they're coordinated. Someone must be controlling them, but finding them will have to wait. We need to take back the stolen goods before they can escape. These people are depending on us!" with that Jace turned and began chasing the heard of rats down the street.
As he drew closer and closer to the heard more would join in behind him. Soon he was entangled and surrounded in the fleeing rodents. It was becoming much more difficult for him to make a move on the items they carried with so many of them so close. He could easily stumble or even trip and lose precious time. It wouldn't be long before the rats would exit the end of town and reach the forest's edge. He watched the rats carefully and noticed that some had their items loosely wrapped to themselves. "I'll have to target those ones since their clothing will be a little easier to get a grasp on." Jace stated to himself as he sped up and began reaching down towards one of the thieving rodents hoping to pluck free the cloth goods strapped to it's back. To Jace's dismay another rat had seen him reach down and forced it's way between Jace and the other rat in an attempt to trip the boy. Jace managed to maintain and take a wide step over the rat. "Ch! So close.." Jace muttered. Though the rat failed to trip the boy, it had succeeded in causing him to stumble and miss his first opportunity to take back some of the stolen goods.

~*Radagon Mimuria*~ Radagon heard the young man call himself Jace as they ran toward the location of the scream. The man was surprisingly fast, as he had already caught up to Radagon when he had a head start. But what had worried Radagon was the scream, as he had just thought a few moments ago that the village was really safe from any attacks, so the question was what could have made this woman scream. Not long after pondering the question, the two young men rounded a corner to find what looked like rats of unusual size running about, grabbing whatever they could find. Radagon saw them having bed sheets, towels, and from what he could see, the undergarments from at least several women all on their backs as they ran about. Radagon didn't really feel like wanting to know why rats of unusual size would even want women's undergarments, let alone towels of bed sheets, but in any case these rats were well trained, stated by Jace, who pointed out that someone must be controlling them. With a silent agreement, the two of them watched as the rats began to run with their prizes. And though Jace had said the people were depending on them, Radagon had a high suspicion that something else was going on. If the stealing of a bedroom and baths valuables were the goal here, these rats of unusual size had no sense of actual thievery. Still, stealing wasn't allowed anywhere, so Radagon gave chase after a group of rats that Jace was following. Radagon was surprised to how fast these rodents were, despite their size, and had to use alot of his speed to try and keep up with the pesky rats of unusual size. At one point, Jace had been able to nearly catch up with them, stretching his hand out to try and pluck one of the sheets off of one of the rats, but it seemed the rats were far more clever than it had first appeared. Another rat had been keeping its little black eyes on the whole situation, and when Jace tried to grab one of the sheets, it leaped out to trip him. Jace had been able to make a quick leap over the rat, but this made him lose too much distance between him and his goal. The rat was victorious in the end. Now it was Radagon's turn to try, as he was the closest to the rats. He too tried to gain as much speed on the rats, and when he was close enough, reached his hand out to pluck a towel off the rat in front of him. As he did, the rat that had tried to trip Jace darted back toward Radagon, trying to do the same. Radagon was ready however, and when the rat was about to go under him, he quickly swept his leg forward and punted the rat out of his way. That thing had some weight on it, and when he had landed his feet forward, Radagon stumbled and watch his hand fly toward the towel, not knowing if he had been close enough to grab it. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- OOC: Post Words: 526 Total Words: 6736

Quote: Step 1: Stop Those Rodents: Progress 2/6. Attempt 4. PC: 50 + 5 (failed last try) + [50(2) - 222]/10 = 43 :: FAILFeeling the creature’s bundle catch on his foot, Hizen was elated for a brief moment until he noticed that these knots were apparently much tighter and, instead of coming off so he could collect it, the bundle pulled him off balance and he fell, landing hard on his buttocks. ”Damn. I shouldn’t have tried to do that. There is too much bulk in this bundle of cloth for me to move easily. That’s all of the rats of unusual size in this alleyway. I need to head out into the streets and catch them before they get away with all of their ill gotten gains.” Glancing down into the bundle now slung across his body, Hizen spotted not only bed sheets and towels, but also several pairs of ladies undergarments. Blushing furiously, Hizen got his feet underneath him and rose, tightening the bundle around his body. Moving to the mouth of the alley, Hizen spotted one of the Rats of Unusual Size skittering down the street. Hizen started down the street after the creature as it was fleeing. His movement was impeded by the pedestrians panicking and milling around, causing Hizen to lose ground relative to the Rat of Unusual Size that he was following. ”MAKE WAY! GET OUT OF MY WAY! MOVE IT! STAND ASIDE!” Hizen’s shouts got the attention of enough citizens to at least allow him to move through the crowd easier. However, the sheer number of people in the streets impeded his progress. Jumping to the roof of the nearest building, Hizen was able to make better progress pursuing the Rats of Unusual Size. The higher up perspective also allowed him to see the progress of the Rats of Unusual Size as they made their way towards the Village borders. Jumping down on top of the rat he had been following, Hizen attempted to wrestle the bundle of cloth off of its back. Quote: Post words: 317 Total words: 2606

"Someday I'll make things right. From the Earth to the Sky and everything between. It will all be mine again."
Theme_Thought 50 + [60(2) - 222]/10 Attempt 1 Chance: 44%% Failure Attempt 2 Chance: 44%% Failure by +25% Bonus: +5% Jace steadied himself once more watching the rats movements around him. Though it was a bad move, it could also be a good one. His mind was naturally a step above most in terms of Strategic thinking, though he had not yet been as motivated to use his latent mental abilities as he was now. It was increasingly seldom that he ever brought himself to the decision of using this talent. Though he knew what he was capable of, he had very little insight into the general information and history behind his clan. Jace also found himself to be discontent with the talent. By living a life of poverty and struggling to get by, he had achieved a few positive perspectives that he cherished. The first had been a since of 'earning' towards each task set forth to him. He took joy in success when the work was harder or more enduring. The next was being able to see the world through the perspective of hardship. He understood suffering, if only in the since of surviving financially in peaceful times. It allowed him to see others' suffering and, even if only partially, understand it. The last of the cherished perspectives came about through his hardship. It was 'equality'. He felt as though it was the most proper and respectful thing anyone could do to another person. To look upon them as equals meant extinguishing both "looking down upon others" and "belittling ones' self." It was a belief that balanced the happiness of the believer with the happiness of those around them. If someone were to care only for themselves, they would wind up needlessly hurting everyone around them. Though, if someone were to only care for the happiness of others, they would become unhappy themselves and lose heart in themselves and their will.
Jace kneeled down and let the rats pass him by as he over heard Radagon's frustrations and the sound of a large figure smacking into a near by wall. Placing his hands together, Jace made a sign with his hands unlike any of the hand seals used to cast jutsu. He brought his arms to rest upon his legs and his hands came together in a spread out manner where each corresponding finger between the two hands touched together. He closed his eyes and with that his mind was let loose. Ideas and strategies circulated as freely as air currents. Theories flashed by on a steady rate and a few moments later his eyes re-opened with a look of confidence. The last of the trailing rats passed him by as he stood up and began running to catch up. He continued running and slipping between the rats until he had found himself a little ways behind Radagon. "Here it goes!" Jace uttered as he made a few hand seals and cast his jutsu. His shadow stretched forth immediately towards one of the closest vulnerable rats he could take the cloth from. Attempting to sabotage him was yet another of the watchful rats, however the plan didn't stop there. The shadow touched down with the rat and locked it within the Shadow Manipulation, but Jace used the rat's shadow to extend his shadow further and faster towards the targeted thieving rats. In a panic the rats began to stack between the shadow and their companions carrying the goods. It became tasking to maintain the Shadow Manipulation as he was still only a kid and it required a greater deal of chakra to manage than he was content with. Immediately he began the next step of his plan and circled around the line of rats. By having the rats interfere they moved out from the sides towards the center and got themselves lined up. This left clear space on either side to manuever and move about. Jace capitalized by running to the left past the rats and heading straight up towards the vulnerable group. The rats already caught were forced to circle around to his back side and follow him from a few feet back. Jace's shadow was beginning to lose it's 'oomph' due to the combined physical efforts. He had only one remaining choice. He leapt with both hands out reaching for the stolen goods on the backs of the two rats closed to him from the direct front. Doing this split his hand seal and let the rats behind him go free of his shadow, but also freed up the taxation and discomfort of draining his chakra.

~*Radagon Mimuria*~ Radagon had nearly made the grab for the towel, but he came up short and he fell a bit, stumbling forward and having to throw his arms forward to catch his balance. The rodents seemed to have a sense of humor, as they were laughing their little rodent chuckles. Not giving them an inch, Radagon caught back up to them, just as Jace was as well. Niether of them had been able to grab any clothing from the rodents, and after his own failure, Radagon saw that two rodents had ran in a different direcion from the group, now making it impossible to grab their stolen clothing they had on their backs. Seeing how Radagon had an even less chance than he had before to try and catch the rodents, he had to make sure that he didn't fail again, otherwise he and Jace may lose their chance to get the clothing back from the rats of unusual size before they were soaked in the disgusting sweat of a rodents fur. Not really paying any attention to what Jace was doing, Radagon targeted a few rats of unusual size, keeping his eyes on them so that he knew which one he wanted to go after once he was closer to the group of rats of unusual size. He saw a flash of a man go forward, and saw jace had picked up speed to be right on top of one of the rats of unusual size. Radagon had no idea of the outcome when Jace had run forward to try and grab one of the pieces of clothing from the rats of unusual size, but Radagon had to help out in some way. Darting forward to keep his pace with Jace, Radagon had been coming right up to a rat when one of them which had no clothing on its back had stopped to turn and leap at Radagon. Simply dodging to his right to try and dodge the rat went without a hitch, as most likely the rat of unusual size had thought that it would try and distract Radagon to make him trip into Jace, but then it was a rat of unusual size, so who really knew what it was trying to do. Not missing a step, Radagon made a quick leap to try and grab the bed sheet that layed on top of the rat in front him. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- OOC: Post Words: 402 Total Words: 7138Quote: 50 + [50(2) - 222]/10 = 38% + 10%(Bonus) = 48% Pass

"Someday I'll make things right. From the Earth to the Sky and everything between. It will all be mine again."
Theme 50 + [60(2) - 222]/10 Chance: 59% Failure Bonus: +20% Jace reached as hard as he could and could tell from the vision alone that he wasn't going to reach either of them as divided as he had been with the length of his arms. He immediately pushed forward with his right arm and withdraw the left shoulder to extend his reach. He could feel the tips of his fingers brush across the top of fabric sheets hanging from the back of the rat he had made his saving dive towards. Unfortunately for Jace, his dive was anything, but 'saving'. The dive reached it's end and he found himself eating dirt as he slid a couple feet to a complete stop. A bit of dust kicked up by his collision with the ground had settled. Jace lifted his head from the dirt and heaved a hefty sigh. His expression began to sink into sadness and failure as the rats were getting farther and farther from him. The forest was clearly visible in the distance and Jace was almost out of options. He had failed miserably in every attempt and even the strategic side of his mind fell short.
Jace understood that he was still a kid and uncapable of many things, but he couldn't help but feel as though the harder he failed the farther his dream got away from him. Everything ahead of him began to darken and narrow to what looked like a figure slowly walking away. The figure had characteristics of a woman with long flowing dark hair. It had to be some kind of illusion, but Jace felt a familiar comforting warmth. It was feint, but it pulsed within the core of his heart. That was when he could hear the feint crying of someone near by. The illusion vanished and Jace's eyes began to widen, though his expression still remained glum, there was now a spark of curiosity showing through. He turned his head to take in the sight of a woman. She had to be in her early twenties, but she seemed entirely distressed by the situation that had taken place. These rats placed a heavy burden on those already scraping to survive.
Slowly Jace picked himself back up, bringing his arms up and pushing himself off the ground. One foot at a time he gradually regained a standing position. Taking in the sight of the thieving rat heard, the distance between himself and them, and the distance between them and the forest, he began to formulate a more base plan in his head. "I only have one chance left before they reach the forest. It's all or nothing. I can't quit now..!" Jace spoke quietly to himself. One step after the next, Jace picked up the pace and ran as fast as he could towards the thieving rat heard. The closer he got, the more his desire to succeed against the adversity rose. Though they might not know it, there were people counting on those available to take back the goods. Jace was no special case. He had been trying just as hard to take back the goods for the people. He was now upon the rat group once more.
Melding back into the ground carefully he drew closer and closer to the group of rats carrying goods that he had focused on in his past attempts. They were his greatest chance for success despite all his failings and he needed more than anything to capitalize here and now. Taking another full on approach, Jace burst past Radagon from his left side and leapt right foot first right onto one of the rats and began hopping from rat to rat. As other rats took notice and tried to stop him, he would use parts of their body and even their faces as they next stepping stone to make another leap. He drew so close to the vulnerable gathering of rats that his options expanded, though he was unrelenting, he leapt straight into the center of the rats, causing a panic among them. They began to scatter in different directions away from him, but they were already much too close. With steady hand seals his shadow began to weave through the scattering rats and collect a good three of them. The rats had stopped dead in their pace and other rats began to bump into them and cause a slight hault in the rats progress from that section on back. If for nothing else, he bought Radagon some extra time with the vulnerable group if he somehow failed, though he was confident he'd manage this time around. He walked forward towards the rats until the three of them were fanned out in front of him. Jace bent over and reached for the cloth goods on the middle rat's back while maintaining the jutsu with his opposite hand. It was difficult and unsteady, but would work long enough to provide potential results.
Jace had an eery feeling surrounding the back of his mind just then. A shadow began forming around him that enveloped the areas where light still shined through. "...Crap." he remarked before a whole mess of rats fell on him from above / behind him. The rats behind him had amassed as a final attempt to keep him down and dog piled onto him. The rats caught in his Shadow Manipulation were set free and mixed back into the flowing crowd of rats. In mere moments Jace was completely enshrouded in rats. "Oh gawd! It smells like death! Noooooooooooooo!" Jace shouted from under the rat pile. Though anything he had tried to say would sound partly muffled to anyone close enough to hear it. "Who ever heard of rats dog piling?!" he uttered. He attempted to claw his way out pushing rats aside and pulling himself to the outer edge of the rat pile. He peered out to take in the sight, but the rats were now getting too far away and those already on him were trying their hardest to retain him. He failed his last and only remaining attempt to salvage the stolen goods.
[I hope Den dies a horrible AIDs infested death for this. >>]

~*Radagon Mimuria*~ Radagon was able to grab the bed sheet from the back of the rat of unusual size, though it was slightly stained by the sweat of the rat, and it smelled too. Not really wanting to hang on to the disgusting thing, he passed by what looked like an old pot, threw it into the pot, and kept his pace to catch up to the rats of unusual size. Though grabbing one of the stolen goods was a victory in its self, Radagon knew that he still needed to try and get the rest of the towels and sheets from the rats of unusual size. As for the womens undergarments, that itself was taboo for him to even grab, and he'd rather let the rats be blamed than him being stuck in a very uncomfortable situation. Once he caught back up to Jace, he saw that the young man had failed twice it seemed to grab the goods from the rats of unusual size, and from what Radagon could see was that two more rats had been able to escape them. That only left a few rats left, meaning the chances of bringing back clothing had dropped with it. All of a sudden, Radagon watched as Jace had tried one more time to grab some clothing, but right when his hands were going to wrap around one of the nasty looking bed sheets, suddenly the rats of unusual size that had run away before had come back, this time to dog pile Jace. With so many rats, Radagon could already smell their feces ridden hair from where he was, as he was down wind of the attack. Quickly thinking the situation through, Radagon passed by Jace and his rat pile of death to pursue the remaining rats, as he would lose valuable time stopping to help Jace. Jace could handle a few rats, and Radagon knew that rats would be long gone if he stopped. So, picking up some speed, Radagon went to close in on some of the rats of unusual size that were ahead of him. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- OOC: Post Words: 348 Total Words: 7486Quote: 50 + [50(2) - 222]/10 = 38% + 10%(Bonus) = 48% PASS

"Someday I'll make things right. From the Earth to the Sky and everything between. It will all be mine again."
Theme 50 + [60(2) - 222]/10 Chance: 69% Failure Bonus: +30% Jace scraped at the ground with one hand while kicking and pushing his way free of the rats. They smelled something fierce and Jace was gradually becoming more and more repulsed by them while within close contact. The rats began to lift themselves up and move around as Jace finally got free. Jace immediately stood up and moved away from the pile before turning to face the rats. They weren't trying to scurry past him and move on to the rest of the heard. Jace's eyes narrowed on the small group of giant rats and a few things seemed to just sort of hit him all at once. They were watching him rather closely. "..Wait a second." Jace remarked as he took a small step backwards. The rats eyes moved to his feet and then back to him before they all moved forward toward him a step. Jace's eyes widened when he realized one of the rats were carrying a big cloth item on it's back. Jace leapt at the rats suddenly and caught hold of the stinky vermin. He pulled back and took hold of the cloth before letting go.
The other rats had begun to scatter until they took notice of Jace confiscating the disgusting clothing. This sparked something within the rats. They immediately began charging him. In a hurry he hopped up and back away from them, but to his dismay they were able to get a hold of the cloth and it slipped from his fingers during the transition backwards. "Ch! Damn rats..." Jace remarked as a few more could be seen a short ways back. Some of the rats that had not quite left with the rest were catching up to the group facing Jace and they were carrying goods. "Opportunity, eh..?" Jace remarked. The rats already in front of him looked up at him, a glint shining in each one's eyes. They seemed angered and began to step towards the boy. "Uh oh.." Jace said as a bead of sweat rolled down the side of his face. "I don't suppose we could settle this with words, huh?" Jace asked playfully with a nervous expression. The rats began making a strange hissing noise towards him. "Guess not!" Jace responded before turning on his heel and running as quick as he could in the direction of the rest of the rats and even his new found ally Radagon.
The rats gave chase, joined by the few that trailed up behind them. They stayed hot on Jace's heels for a short while before he began pulling away from them. Jace could see the forest's edge growing in the distance the closer they got. Taking a look over his shoulder, Jace made sure his last mistake would not be his next. Upon checking his back he noticed Radagon ahead of him to his right plucking free sheets from the rats. He only got a glimpse, but he knew Radagon was making some valid progress. He also knew that he needed to make some valid progress himself. Once he made a clear check of his surroundings he turned towards the rats ahead of him still holding onto stolen possessions. He started to break into wide strides slowly passing Radagon by and reaching out towards some stolen goods. He kept his off-hand hidden in his pants pocket. He was now attempting a different method of approach where he would at the very least draw out any remaining rats who kept watch and tried to protect the holders of the stolen goods. There was mean surprise waiting for any of them trying to make a further mockery of his efforts.

Quote: Step 1: Stop Those Rodents: Progress 3/6. Chances remaining: 5 PC: 50 + 10 (failed last 2 tries) + [50(2) - 222]/10 = 48 :: SUCCESS (Critical) +2 bundles. The Rat of Unusual Size that Hizen had picked as his target this time was slipperier than he had anticipated. The creature managed to both wriggle out of Hizen’s grasp as he was attempting to wrestle the bundle of clothes from the creature, and managed to slip down the space between two buildings that Hizen couldn’t follow through even if he hadn’t had the extra bulk of the saved clothing bundles. ”Damn! Not only are these buggers bloody slippery, they’re fast too. I have got to step up my game in catching these creatures. Not only am I losing time to catch them, the more I dawdle, the worse the clothes the rats of unusual size have smell. I’ve got to get as much back before they aren’t worth saving.” Hizen regained his feet after his tussle with the rat of unusual size, and jumped to the nearest rooftop and began looking for another R.O.U.S. with a bundle of clothes that he could attempt to liberate. Seeing a commotion further on up the street, Hizen passed what appeared to be a mass of the rats of unusual size dog piling another academy student. Knowing that any academy student should be able to handle a few of the rats, despite their unusual size, Hizen continued on by, rushing after another of the creatures he spotted near one of the nearby alleys. ”If they get back into the back alleys and tight spaces, I’m likely to never catch them again. I need to cut this one off and secure his bundle before he disappears.”Hizen jumped off of the roof he’d been running along, landing directly in front of the rat of unusual size that he had picked out as a target. Moving swiftly, Hizen attempted to relieve the creature of its bundle while it was still surprised. Quote: Post words: 306 Total words: 2912
